Fires spread to 12 rowhomes, two of which were occupied, in southwest Baltimore Friday afternoon, officials said.Firefighters were called around 1:55 p.m. to the area of South Fulton Avenue in Carrollton Ridge, where two vacant dwellings were on fire. Officials said the fire spread to additional houses.The Baltimore City Fire Department said as many as five alarms were called."We're thinking because of the wind right now, the fires and the embers, they were through the roof, possibly could've blown to other areas," Assistant Fire Chief Charles Svehla said.Officials said fire spread to an occupied home in the 1800 block of Ramsay Street and to homes on both sides of Fulton Avenue, where various forms of fire were quickly extinguished.A more significant fire ignited in a roof of a home in the 300 block of North Mount Street.One firefighter was injured. No civilian injuries were reported.Baltimore City fire officials said mutual aid support came from first responders in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford and Howard counties who assisted serving the community for continued protection.This report will be updated.
