Three in five North Wales patients left waiting more than eight weeks for scans due to COVID delays

THOUSANDS of people missed out on potentially life-saving scans in North Wales when non-Covid NHS services ground to a halt during lockdown, official figures show.
The BBC Shared Data Unit has found waiting times for diagnostic imaging scans surged between the months of April and September this year across Wales – whilst the nation was plunged into lockdown and started to recover from the threat of coronavirus.
Taking into account a range of diagnostic tests - that includes endoscopy, cardiology, radiology and MRI scans - in September this year across Wales there were:
• Almost 113,735 people were on the waiting list
• Of which 60,967 had waited for eight weeks or more (53.6 per cent)
