Three people were injured in a dog attack in Milwaukee.Police were called to 28th and Melvina around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.Police said two loose pit bulls in an alley attacked three people. Someone then shot the dogs to try to free the victims.Ruth McClinton told WISN 12 News her brother, 75-year-old Ben Payne, was headed to the bus stop and cut through the alley."And that's when he said the dogs come out. He said he really didn't know what was happening. He was bit on the left arm, and the left leg, and he was torn open on the right leg, you could see muscle," she said.She said he had surgery but is in good spirits.A 36-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man were also taken to the hospital for injuries. They are expected to survive.No one answered at the dog owner's home Thursday. "Beware of dog" signs could be seen posted on the fence.Milwaukee police cited the dogs' owner. Police said they had no prior complaints for those dogs.Officers are still looking for the person who shot the dogs.The dogs were taken by Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control, where they were euthanized at the owner's request. The pit bulls were injured by the gunshots.
