Article content Material Harvesting: L’nu (Mi’kmaw) artist Meagan Musseau’s new show at Ociciwan — pandemic online — actually works quite well as a series of images you can click and ponder. Comprising weaving, text art, a beautiful hunting jacket and some wonderful, ribboned snowshoes, she also does land and video art. She notes in her artist statement, “These artworks tell a story that has sprouted from my experiences being on and moving through the land, by rivers and fires, and at a scattered kitchen table working with materials. Siwk, spring, is here. My mother, Kim Musseau, is sewing beautiful blankets and I’m preparing to share my artwork with Ociciwan Contemporary Art Centre and across the worldwide web. As we cycle back upon Nipk, summer, I pray for us all to continue to persevere; especially when it’s hard, when the challenge knocks us to our knees, please find courage and smile like the light of a thousand aunties laughing at a kitchen table.”
