The state legislature passed a law removing negative consequences for all educators. But the state still wanted students to participate so that the state department and educators can address their needs this upcoming school year. For districts with 80% participation, the accountability standard was also removed at the school- and district-level. Even districts who didn’t meet that mark could apply for a waiver that evaluated how the district increased engagement with families and how close districts were to the 80% threshold. If districts didn’t reach the 80% and didn’t apply for the waiver, accountability will be calculated for the districts – but not educators.
