Trai proposes tweaks in MNP rules to curb SIM-swap frauds

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed changes to the mobile number portability (MNP) rules to prevent SIM-swap fraud. Under the new regulations, telecom operators will need to check if a porting request is coming from a number that has undergone a SIM swap or replacement in the previous 10 days. If so, the unique porting code will not be allocated, preventing the port-out/in process.
