To ensure transparency and security in mobile connection management, here is a step-by-step guide on how one can check the number of SIM cards issued on one's Aadhaar and how one can port to a new telecom operator without changing the number.
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has proposed changes to the mobile number portability (MNP) rules to prevent SIM-swap fraud. Under the new regulations, telecom operators will need to check if a porting request is coming from a number that has undergone a SIM swap or replacement in the previous 10 days. If so, the unique porting code will not be allocated, preventing the port-out/in process.
Trai: In addition to the existing cautionary measures the telcos are required to take while porting a number from one network to another, they will now need to check if the request is coming from a number that has undergone SIM swap or replacement in the 10 days prior to the request.
