Susan. It's. That is a belter of a chewed isn't it a. Lot on all read and never enough. Anyway that was a great way to start the 2nd hour of the show but now it is time for a wonderful feature where we go back in time for a flashback to be a gone by now tonight we're all going that far back we're going back 14 years we're going back to 2005. The reason being it's my daughter's birthday tomorrow right so I want to play the songs that were in the top 10 when I was about to give birth . To you to commemorate model to and I thought this was a very appropriate one for. Happy birthday maybe for. James Blunt was a number of. This very week with you'll be using. of the charts when she was bold in 2005 I. Yeah James Bond was a number 2 now I did notice that in this particular chart there was a song which I'm not allowed on the radio Well the track I'm not let's say but the band is Babyshambles if you really want to look it up you can Anyway Daniel Powter was at number 3 with bad day we had a bit of McFly at number one and this little beauty was at number 7 as my daughter came into the world from Kelly Clarkson since she. Lovely stuff number 7 in 2005 at this very time of year Kelly Clarkson and since she been gone sounds off Flashback Friday and we'll do a different ya and do it all again on Monday when i actually is going to need to hear on Monday and it might be a different vibe with it being a bank holiday and a GO TO SLEEP lovely sunny hot warm bank holiday as well the last one of the year. On holiday day on Sunday I say name is here on Monday and then Lizzie Cray will be taken hot seat for the rest of the week so I'm just going to leave and the capable hands and not worry about it but I will tell you this since September I'm back straight back on it anyway on the way we've got the Devil Went Down to Georgia followed by a lovely chat about Flower Power Yeah and how you can experience it full on in the middle of tomorrow. Down GA he was looking for so he was in a bad way but that would make you really came across your hands on a plate because of the devil. All of it it was like you know it but the player to it if you care to take a dare I'll break a bet with you that you play pretty good. The devil is a bit of gold that I got better. Johnny and it might be a saying but I'll take your bet you're going to regret that this is a. Good play you bet. Our sales folks join the cause and if you get this little. Bit use it to get your salt. With the case he said I'll start the show with fire with its maker tipsy rolled up his bow. Bow across the strings that it made evil hear in a band of the day and it sounded something like the. The devil bowed his head because he knew that he did and he laid that golden fiddle on the ground at Johnny's feet John is a devil just come back and be at. Because that's all you want to. Hear. The last. 6 rhetoric of the. Me. Who didn't love that the Devil Went Down to Georgia from the Charlie Daniels Band you know I only heard that song for the very 1st time in my life about 8 years ago . I think so I mean I'm a I've heard as a kid and not remembered it anyway what are you doing tomorrow I going to be a roundabout in Worcester you fancy a little bit of flower power there is a rather spectacular event going on at was to cathedral and it's all organized by well wonderful volunteers that put the flowers in the cathedral that dress them arrange the renew the refreshment the make cetera and I spoke to one of those particular ladies earlier today to just find out a little bit more about it so they got all the lowdown and of course I wanted to know the ins and outs of what we can actually do and say because this this thing's this free demonstrations this flower arranging competitions and there's a bit of a fundraising thing going on as well so I spoke to Janet Miller who is one of the Wooster cathedral flower guild committee members. Well. Despite 40 of us and they're all volunteers it's the cathedral flour gold and we all of those so we go into a stand once a month so whatever. Self funding so we're doing a one off southpaw day to raise funds for ourselves so that we can. You know from that we use about 5000 times the rate so we've got 3 demonstrations on our run through those if you want me to bend as the local flower clubs doing displays so that they can make people aware of themselves and we've got local Crofts we've got a cake store we've got fresh still we've got a big plant store so it's like a big village fete was your role Jonathan long being involved on the committee and I've been post of it for about 15 years but it's quite rewarding Isn't it another little hill but to handle those flowers and to be such a part of but it didn't shy conic you know surroundings than if there's a choir practice or they used to do the. Organ were practices in recitals in there and you'd be doing hours what So it's just wonderful Yes I can imagine what a great role and it's really quite an important and potentially very pressured role as well because this seen by so many and it's well this is it when you get lots of people come in and well I did the science in my church but then not as big as this but you know you can't do a little tiny thing in a cathedral of size so you do these huge displays that you don't get the opportunity to do at home more anywhere else really. So it's an absolute joy and then whoever leads is one of the committee leads each week and we do it every week on a Friday and we choose the color scheme and then who's watering during the course of the week topping it up except for so tell me about the day tomorrow and you know obviously you need is a fundraiser Yes it's a one off it's called a flower per day it's in the cathedral itself we have got. 3 demonstrations $1.00 to $1030.00 to $11.00 which is Mel Weston She's the organizer and instigator of this day and she is doing so close and then we have from 11321230 Julie Piers and she's doing so fresh and then we've got a gentleman called Darren Raj teabag Bros and fight gardening on the budgets and. On B.B.C. Radio West Midlands and Coventry and Warrick and so all those demonstrations are 5 pounds for tickets and you can get them on the day we've sold a lot but this is in the lady chapel in the cathedral itself they've sold a lot but they do need lots more people to go along yes you can hear stalls of the radio stations speaking as well whereas already why isn't Bridgeman apparent was probably far too busy doing the gardening isn't a on a sunny day like tomorrow anyway that will be in the woods to cathedral fairly obvious a huge day of flower power and it is a one off a case the only day that you can go and do it and the the title I think does sum it up because I happen to have seen the prep today going on and my word flower power is a massive understatement if you get a chance just even just go and have a look please do and if you can donate and have and get involved in one of the. Lessons all demos are one of the talks even better I do think if you don't think you'll be disappointed things going to a great great day and good luck with all their fundraising efforts as well lovely to speak to you Janet Miller of the was 62 flower guild committee they work so hard they're all volunteer to do those have all the. Roxy Music now. a. Week . This morning. It's. Connected to the end of this song. Could. Come. Come. Up just. Connected by the end of this. Which. You know. You feel in me. That Justin Timberlake is a raunchy def Oleson a rock your body is going to have the naked body end of this song. There's confidence for you. If you Justin it's allowed anyway final part now of our chat with the gorgeous Susie Kaye Quinn. Is written a new book lies we tell mothers and as herself because she speak ghost author as herself this is her 1st nonfiction although it is highly entertaining it doesn't come across like fact it's the opposite of hard work at the opposite it's a very very very funny tale of a journey into motherhood actually lies we tell mothers is a great title and it goes $333.00 different fathers says that pregnant women are told or even pre pregnant women are told about having babies and raising children so we recap we. We've gone over a little bit of all of it already tonight on the show and the final part of our chat I asked Susie you know she's in a lot of books What's it like when you finally hold the book in hand is it still is exciting this time around. Well yeah I do and I love the cover on this book and and. The thing is I've been writing for so long now I've written I'm sort of like 19 but in so I'm kind of always my mind is usually in the next one so I've literally got a computer a bit of front of me I'm writing about mother's Christmas literally as we speak it's not that she was beat that incredibly really but between between the injuries I'm doing it I'm writing that but so I suppose my mind is there but I'm so what what makes me really proud is not the book or holding the book or anything it's when the reviews come up and people really love it and it's really made their day it's had them is really lifted them or IT or they just couldn't put it down and they just they just enjoyed themselves that's what really makes me yeah I've done than done the job yes so it's not so much about the physical thing it's about getting it out there and enjoy it it's about it's about Yeah exactly so it's about connecting connecting with readers and feeding because that's what it is when you write about your your sort of your heart and your so you're putting it right out there and your asking people to connect with it and if they do it feels amazing and that's why bad reviews feel so awful for it if Yeah especially if you find it even more poignant with this book because it is your life oh yeah I really do and I could I always have had you know I've written a lot of books now I say you come to expect you do you get the odd bad reviews and you know and it's fine in my earlier books I got even more batteries you know if you have got got better but yeah but this one because it was quite the 2 batteries quite personal one was one said you know I stopped enjoying it because I didn't like her style of parenting so I think what you which started parroting which bit which he didn't he you know say I was thinking. You know was drinking wine was it they're having to you know 10 cups of hot chocolate I was you know what was it or how I brought my. It's about it now and then someone else's review was was really critical about the drinking wine and because my daughter she choked at one point I was trying to do baby did weaning and I gave her this is a chickpea and I thought it was soft and it was and she choked it was all for it's horrible and it was on my birthday it worth saved my life. And I think the person who read it felt quite upset by that and they found that I wasn't you know they. Felt that I wasn't being the best parent if I had been the best parent that would've happened but the truth is I think I'm not saying I'm perfect at all but I think we all all parents make do stupid things we don't make stupid mistakes. Exactly and if we look back you know we we wouldn't be obviously wouldn't it but I think there is an apparent lie that hasn't done something. Risky to respond this Little Italy exactly exactly that you didn't you know in hindsight you you would not have done so yes there's an unintentional LAX moment Yeah exactly exactly because we all you know all our hearts are all in the right places and they say well we have would you tend to write this as a fiction and tell you it wasn't you I wasn't because I wrote the back of the series 1st so I have this diary and that was kind of the fiction which is loads of fun today because you can kind of you can make some a lot funnier when you kind of take reality out the question but no I was really to be honest I was pretty. Happy to get a sort of real life story out there because I'm pretty honest it's pretty one of my best and worst qualities so I would tell you anything absolutely anything you want not want to know. But I would tell it you know so I think that's something that not everyone would do so I felt like it was good for moms to hear. From someone who was just given the unvarnished truth and not have I don't have any particular about how people are going to see me I don't mind too much I mean if people don't know a great parent I'm kind of I'm OK with that you know you. I think I am a parent say Yeah exactly yeah you're strong enough Yeah well I can't I've got to go now because I've got to read the rest of the book. You've got to go because I'm sure you've got other people speak to. You thank you so much for your time and thank you for the book because that's the biggest gift and just best of luck with the next sort of audience my last question which is what's next for you next Yeah the back on this Christmas that's out in time for Christmas. Susie thank you very much indeed really good luck thank you so much really appreciate that so if you fancy a loft a very good belly laugh and some unputdownable rating or just some some sort of help if you're a new pair until you're pregnant maybe or you or your partner's pregnant lies we tell mothers a true story by Susie Kay Quinn is available on Amazon. Have a look and do do read it if there is any potential children new children or potential new children in your life because it will make you laugh and actually it will prepare you a little bit better. In the book highly recommended this is NASA having had this for a while love it it's. I I've heard that song. And it is such a great song Natalie improve. Those villains on condoms I make. Something up. I love that one. And Sean menders and send ya da that makes you feel kind of Spanish Oh and guess what I'm off to Spain on Sunday and a lot of people still got holidays to go or it is coming back from holidays so don't feel too bad talking about a bit of a summer holiday. And not entirely sure what part of Spain I'm getting be in but when flying to L.A. County now you get on Sunday with the kids and I've had a look at the weather and apparently it's glorious at the moment and when we arrive it's really cloudy for a couple of days but still very hot there we got some really nice sunshine for a few days while it's really nice and sunny here in the U.K. As well by the way good Laureus weather we go out to and I know is a bit of a long shot because it's a long term forecast but the the current forecast for the day we get back eighty's down poles so traditionally we'll have a week in Spain will come back to to ensure rain and back to school the next day. Talk about back to reality with a bunch. I haven't gone yet somehow it will be a balance here much at the moment. A nice bit of cool and whatever you want so what does your weekend hold and the Bank Holiday who's doing some deal. No no neither will I be. That's every weekend all year for my whole life gardening though that could be on the agenda now I have a slight gardening success story to share with you and anybody who knows me will be very surprised by this because normally I wouldn't be found in the garden so if I'm honest my actual garden is it's a nature reserve I'm among referred to as an inaccessible jungle which I think was harsh is actually a nature reserve. You know you might have to walk in it because the weeds in the grass are up to your waist but it does provide a lot of lovely housing for some wild animals anyway one part of said Garden has been turned into a big enough field so with an enormous amount of help OK Somebody else did it we've planted many many beans we've been stalks never think been poles you know the cane things been poles and they they're making little wigwams of these being poles and planting the seeds and you know as is the wonder of nature we start off with nothing then all of a sudden we have flowers little red flowers and we have been dangling from the plants not as many as we should have because as I've mentioned before on the show there was an issue with some caterpillars and some rabbits and stuff and quite a lot of weeds and where once you can sort of extract said beans from the weeds they are gorgeous so for the last couple of nights in a row myself my neighbors and my parents have all indulged in home grown beans the justice branch the now going to refer to as slightly of the top scription but you get the drift and the feeling of satisfaction is absolutely huge to just put a seed in the ground and then be able to eat from it and I know that the hundreds of people do this all the time thousands. My feel very trite to being so wild by it but honestly at the age of 44 the 1st time I've ever eaten one of my own homegrown vegetables I really do feel a sense of achievement and it's quite addictive as well spreading my hands together with glee and thinking when I can grow next to our.
