Sandra Paul now the number list Baroness Howard of lim Sandra Howard gave me her thoughts today about working with Terry O'Neill for tonight's arts and culture news . This particular 60. There is a God knows and Sinatra and wonderful wonderful film stars of the day and he did celebrities for he was was just a lovely person he just made you feel warm and comfortable and and you could have a laugh and I worked with him on fashion for newspapers he didn't do that I don't think it is very much a fashion. With the women's magazines he just is just rather special. I think I work for him. But also knew one guy when I was there that relationship between those being photographed and the photographer themselves is a very special one you have to hit the ground running don't you as a photographer you have to be able to connect with people fairly quickly if you want to get the best out of them yes I think so I mean it's a little different when I do think when you're covering a celebrity because then you want them to feel. Comfortable and relaxed and if you're doing a commercial picture you wouldn't need to get out at the out of your bottle because you're big big plate and it's important to get a good picture and I think from a model point of view it's very nice if they make you feel. That way and he never did that he was just sort of did. Enjoy it I still miss him he didn't want to cry so apart from work at the times when I've sort of seen him that eventful something and we've had a chat just been very novelist and former sixty's fashion model sandra Howard who have appeared on the cover of American Vogue 2 months running remembering the photographer captured the iconic images of the swing sixty's Terry O'Neill who has done night records broken all over the world of entertainment this week b.b.c. The evening gingers here as always on a Monday evening where we take a look at what's on screen this week whether be the small screen or the slightly large one 1st of all the one where you'll think can trace this with a change yeah you got just a beautiful beautiful haircut going on let's go see the rich No you should have mentioned it seems like you didn't notice I was pretending not to be bothered by I'm bothered obviously and now it's too late for you to say I want to. You definitely had quite a lot chopped off when you Well yeah I reckon about that much I thought it was that much yeah probably more the next time you to get a haircut I'm not going to say anything on purpose Oh no it's not going to be my No one thing pretended it was if you want to be rude about a. Person just wanted to notice you smile you know you mentioned last week that you were going to go and see 66 did it live up to your expectations did it rev you up well it did more than that I'll tell you what So I'm going to completely honest I thought I was like this could be good and then I looked at the length of it and saw it was 2 and a half hours and went I don't think it's 2 and a half hours worth of rights but so you all really really did the trick good you know into the chair. I have a break a promise to you. I will put you in the driver seat at the mouth. Just shut your mouth and let me say. Are. Right. I just so you know last week we went to go and see Midway we don't I don't think yeah I was mad yeah it was lovely. And I had a good time. And I mean it's just it's just that historic like this actually happened and I've since gone on to go online and look up everything that happened and just see who these real people were and I do that thing of showing who the real people were at the end but it's just a story all of the of. The Shelby was his 1st name. So much that even by Shelby whose name has completely escaped my mind and then you've got Christian Bale whose accent he's Brummie accent he's. Takes some time to get used to but 40 there is 2 and a half hours of it which allows you to get used to em and then you're fine but yeah it was if you like your racing if you like you cause if you like your history and you're going to say it was Carroll Shelby was not that's what I was that yeah yeah and the other most Kim Miles. Yes So yeah it just all just just for me it was having previously visited and I don't really think that I took in as much of it as I maybe should when I was there you can't quite fast when you know I was sticking to the speed limit and I was in the museum. I was a little k.c. In the sunshine Banjoko here so it just is so easy to film I should go and see then absolutely you know I have no interest in moderation kind of stuff you know what you know about you but you're like me you like on a history of learning about that and going off and doing your own kind of research after seeing I thought the trailer for this when I saw it made the trade I thought was really odd it made it look like a buddy comedy type but really like it. Is very very funny at times and it's very touching at times as well. I mean it's history so no I'm not ruling anything that can Mars does die at the end of the he wins although technically doesn't technically win it but you can research like yourself but yeah I just I really really enjoyed it alright it was a good recommendation I thought you might use market now. Lovely hair lovely about 2019 a film came out called The mule with Clint Eastwood I love Clint Eastwood fantastic he basically plays a drug mule Certain Age of his life which you would expect the person to be that old doing that job it's an incredible movie I wish I'd seen it the 1st time around but it was such a joy that we came in I was searching around thinking what kind of watch this was on Sky cinema how to listen to this thing and this is the most important thing. To do what I did I could work in front of family. More or. Somebody out there. And their failure was. Oh it is so so good you got to go and see this online it's got Bradley Cooper in it as well like he was one of those films that I didn't I saw it a year ago are different story and the what are called bother with that I really like Clint Eastwood but there's something about it I thought was going to be a bit dull I want to see Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry I want to say I'll be honest that the trailer that what that said to me I looked in you usually these things that you do recommend I look at About ago that was one of the ones I went. Sounds good I would definitely see he's brilliant the way it's brought together it's Clint Eastwood himself as with his Paso films bringing this to us it just works so well if you like road trip movies in America you're going to love this with the added dimension of cartel it's quite cool I would definitely recommend where you take your Sophie Well it's hard to avoid it this weekend but it is back and it's this. Whole Yeah I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of this contract so yes stop it so it's back to last night's highly anticipated obviously any case you watched it as well love it and I never have to say I've never been a huge fan of ever watched it religiously but I thought everyone seemed to be really big deal I think because of Caitlin generally. Thank you Jenny Yes Yeah and that's quite a big get for them I think so it's kind of been a big deal that she's on it in general course with a car dash in and famous and also I guess we following her story used to be an Olympic athlete and changed transgender changed a whole bunch of stuff going on in America as well so it's quite interesting to see that dynamic and why are for that alone I think will be interesting to see how this series develops this time around I'm not a massive fan of I'm a celebrity but you both love it I know because k.c. The one of the 1st things he said this morning I woke up this morning. Yeah it's as good as interest and it's different so it's different to the other shows that are on because it is funny and you really feel that you get to know the people and there's got of wide range of celebrities on it this year I think it's going to get well are Joe I'm excited for Dom off the back of last year's I'm a celebrity we have flowery state for concessions so I'm thinking if we get Caitlin Jenner in for the kids as well as some there well she is singing she can be Ok she will go do you know did you not see the threshold for the camp sessions of the last week while what was so we are very used to doing one of the moments where we allow the bar to go down slightly aren't we maybe I could do a duet with Caitlin Jenner I mean I'm sure she'd be up for it what you reckon islands in the stream are great some be good wouldn't I think that with you know you and me Abi Dolly right here we go final one up to my all what you're going to go and see if. This makes me very very happy you know it's I'm very I have to be honest and I think this Sophia grieves me on this I haven't really seen much up retirement for this hour in about considering the 1st one was so huge Julie advertise on let it go. That was good well done press to have a driver. This is not what you see. I won't let anything happen to her. Greet. The little guy. So 3 years after me events of the 1st film is of course frozen so you just to clarify in case anyone hadn't guessed it from the incredible rendition of Elsa starts to hear a strange sound from the north because in that noise that we did. There are troubles in it so oh. I'm going to step away from the biker for I'm not going to tell you the rest now because I mean we're in the field but and you've made. Any sense to me I think I will never die for you did it not in the head thank you great . Week we all grieve. For it very keen Good evening it's dawn with you through until 9 o'clock tonight the dominant King shown all this week on life in Kent we pick up on the experience of the Windrush generation as it's the final week of that free exhibition marking the lasting impact in Kent at Chatham historic dockyard later this week we'll hear from members of that generation themselves 1st b.b.c. Radio Kents and the garland went to see what's happening there. So as if you needed another reason to visit Chatham historic don't go out there is this month an interesting exhibition from Midway African and Caribbean Association e come in through the sliding doors into the wonderful main reception area you turn left towards the mess deck restaurant and then left again there is a very small exhibition that Macca hope put together to mark black history live and its entitle the Windrush generation in Kent and Medway continuing their legacy and there's a couple of really installations there are some sign boards with lots of information and stories on it's not going to take you more than 20 minutes or so to visit the exhibition it's a small part of of course of what the dockyard has to offer Paul Barnard is the assistant chief executive here at the Chatham historic dockyard Hi Paul hello there welcome How did you hook up with Mackie for this exhibition we've been working with America for many many years they they supported us for the development of our command of the oceans project helping to unlock the black history story behind Chatham itself and we've been working since then this latest exhibition is now really the 1st project we've worked on with them but this is really talking about the wind rushed generation and the impact that it had to people in Cannes and particularly in Chatham as well and there are lovely evocative mannequins on the left hand side with a wonderful 950 s. Double breasted suit and the lady with lace white lace gloves and a battered leather suitcase down the man's feet and then we've got a series of display boards yes's a whole series of spy boards that are unlocking a whole load of research that was undertaken by matter that was that was delving into the history behind the when Russian Russian particularly what that meant for people that ended up in Kent so with the Russian ration a lot of people ended up landing in London as possible shortages after the 2nd World War but actually. They ended up reaching quite far from places for out the u.k. Including including Kents in this exhibition and the panels you can see in front of you are telling the story of some of those people and the families that they set up with during that period and what they managed to achieve during that that was it was quite a difficult time a times so of course we take the name the Windrush generation from the ship with us which came to Britain in 1948 the empire when rushed to give its credit and Dr bridges to cross the river from Grays there but then of course we sort of apply this name to people that came subsequently right up to the early seventy's 1971 and here in Medway and there were other part ports including those in Kent who basically received a Caribbean one for yeah that's right I mean Dover been the most obvious one of those but you know the name wind rushed because you packed what quite rightly say comes from the ship Empire Windrush was the 1st ship that actually lands in this country but it went on to be symbolic for those that aren't of the Cole effectively from the Caribbean to come and support this country following the devastation of the 2nd World War Now it's moved just into the exhibition behind the sign boards will pick out a couple of well known figures who stories are detailed there but we've got a sort of recreate Paul of. A typically 950 s. Front room I mean I recognise the radiogram. That long Cabinet of course a lot of people remember and a lovely retro 950 sideboard Why is this set up like it aids all the front room we explored with the previous projects with Mark and the front room really became symbolic for those that traveled over from the Caribbean it became the center of the community where we weren't necessarily geared up to have community centers or places where people have come in a huge distance to come and settle and find new homes they didn't have necessarily all the facilities to help them settle or find finds their way and integrate into society is the front room became the real binding community center for these people to get together talk about what they were doing just share their experiences and help them settle in this new and what would have been quite foreign place so a social Harbor effect of yeah absolutely yeah and you can see from the recreation here it wasn't just about talking about jobs and that's when it was just a time that people could spend together with people they'd grown up with or people from their out their old home so they could reminisce about what it would have been like what the changes were and bring out things like games that would have been big in the Caribbean one of the biggest ones I can remember talking to Carol the chairperson of mac about was domino his dominoes is a huge game in the Caribbean she actually 2 we had to play recently which was fantastic she's a demon I hear it don't know who she is you know I've got quite some ways to go Prussian peace or at it but but again dominoes hugely popular things take plac
