The broadcaster and naturalist said David Attenborough his making an unexpected career move for his 93rd birthday which falls today don'ts musicians are being invited to enter a competition to turn an old field recording into a piece of club music B.B.C. Music reporter Mark Savage has more. So David Attenborough made this recording of traditional gamelan music in Bally while filming his 1st T.V. Shows a quest in 1954 recording languished in the B.B.C. Archives for decades but now he's asking cutting edge electronic musicians to remakes it in the hope of introducing Indonesia's indigenous music to a new generation but it's not his 1st brush with techno music a club night called David Attenborough's Jungle Boogie combines footage from his documentaries with dance beats and has toured the U.K. To great success. Just give me advice on what. To risk. In the other half of that to make sure this afternoon we'll get a few bright spells but it will be mainly heavy showers highs today 14 Celsius that's 57 Fahrenheit tonight we'll see a fair amount of cloud scattering of showers and overnight lows of 6 Celsius B.B.C. Radio destiny thanks for that I'm all about this David it's a book club night it's the 1st I've heard of a need to get down there well by the sounds that we day and by the way if he's looking to remake the song we've got a big boss big pay he used to be done with Pete Tong he could do it you know it's a marriage made in heaven absolutely just cause but to Lester's also it for a. Lot about the race just launched on how things look now John except Yeah good afternoon Jimmy just outside of the cities where we begin because in the not in area there's been a closure at the junction where Queens Road meets 9 to road this is due to a major flood that happened at any traffic in the areas having to do that by Linda Kate Everybody's changing on B.B.C. Radio Leicester I'm weak to much for I left the car parked in spokesman for the British car practice isolation and alley for long he's a fundraiser at Rainbow's charity now a couple questions for you 1st off eats him both for you unless you know the answer to the Pokemon question he gets an alley if your husband Jimmy I have be put in a wheelchair and I had to get use my legs back one day but I need to know what to keep myself fit as I was fit before help what what do you suggest him right if you can't move your legs with the question is I don't know if you can move is a Hiroshi or you don't know don't know that OK if he or she can move his or her arms then actually you can do exercise with your arm skate hard right up OK So probably the cheapest easiest thing to do is buy something like a therapy and OK which is like sort of a giant stretchy lastic band and actually sort of doing things like that so actually doing just expanding or put it on the floor actually do sort of bicep curls something like something like that if you can go into the gym you can do something like a hand bike OK which actually get sure your petals moving good. Right up OK So if you can't use your legs look any way where you can use your arms to actually build muscle and actually increase heart right poker now I've given this is. A poke about book about yeah I don't go by paper you want to probably not that's not what I've been sent a number and I don't read the number X. It might be somebody's personal details what with this number is it a phone number or even a specific number like I don't have a lot because you know because of your comments he says and to me as a friend on poker I'm on Fifi in Colleville I'm also on level $38.00 OK. That's a poker one number so far but I won't read out Fifi who might be. The truck is a lot a lot of work so you could be something else if you want so yeah it's a bit like fishing but to be fair mark my. Numbers but mark the day one my account is my son's because actually it's his account. That he does so a lot of I don't know if your husband Yeah it was actually my daughter they got the Pokemon go account and she's probably lost interest about a year ago I know you'll. Say so he's not 50 but he could be. Anybody else out there who does it feel free to get involved in sex that's right let's go to the story the missing part of Stonehenge being which I know this in all the papers and it's been on our news just explain this Ali Yeah I thought it was really interesting so there was an archaeological study down down a Stonehenge 958 and some stone was a we me me to Monk or from inside the stone so we're not talking a little chippy is quite a big piece of stone and somebody took it home with them and if it kept in an eye when they moved to America they took it with them there and now 89 years old he decided he wants to return it and he kind of got me thinking about when people borrow things and don't kind of give them back to look at me in the book. Just telling to me how when I got you know they have got all the how the Potter books will missing. From somebody that I led to probably 6 years ago I do you know I don't see you anymore see what you know what you do when you learn something somebody not just this gentleman could do in the case in 1958 when he took the rock from Stonehenge but what you do with your phone you take a photo of the person said are you so much what I am and then when you find when you pick so you photo you every now and again you see the reminder and you go you must get that D.V.D. When he too was actually printed out put on the back a kitchen door and put most wanted. To get a little bit far. In the series is how do you how do you know how do you have a bar it's from. John my next door neighbor probably both things often I'll go through I go as John make sure I don't have anything of yours I shouldn't have really you are you always buying things from neighbors aren't you so you might borrow a garden implement or a tool or whatever I know a lot I play golf with he's a service engineer I think I've got one of his drills somewhere why is it I do he just maybe somebody comes to you says Could I borrow an instant and you go that means basically Can I have because you know that you're not really going to get it back it depends how often you see them and it depends what the job is for so I mean for instance our board Ali's drill Bob didn't have a but I want to keep it as one support for a particular job so I will get back to him as I see him every week right now Stonehenge Stonehenge Do you understand and get Stonehenge as a concept that's a big question and I tell you I know. Why I asked you this because I used to live near there right so when I was to drive past Stonehenge on the A 3 o 3 I think it was around Andover way. Used to see law tours all around the world he got Stonehenge and they'd always he clearly traveled miles and miles and miles or they were from the U.K. They were traveling to to see Stonehenge you literally walk around the stones and you go away again. OK Isn't there a visitor center and something about the toes of the history and the meaning and the well I don't I don't know because I never actually did that I just I just see Stryper So I think I've seen it now I thought there was actually a big didn't they move the visitor center of Stonehenge I want to show it's a long time ago since I went but I was I would have at least done you quite far away as well don't you can't you get me close to the stage and when you when you walk around they may have moved since you're not that far from them you know that up but it's always packed and I just wonder whether if seeing them from a far far is enough to say I'd It's just a question that I'm not I'm not trying to demean the story of the stones and why they're there and how they came to be because that is fascinating you know how did those stones end up there but I just wondered like is it worth the whole trip from wherever you go on to stand around there for however long I think a lot of people it's like a it's like a bucket list thing though is that you so there you have done Stonehenge done whatever and it's. It probably asks more questions as you get the know she that's quite interesting when you might do your research on it I'm not saying he's not interested I'm not saying no I just love somebody to tell me why. Something that you might say right OK kids jump in the car we're going to go down to start and hand you're going to spend the day there but surely that's like a slight Hadrian I suppose you walk a Hadrian's wall there but surely sort of antiquities it's it's interesting it's history yeah I guess it's something that's really really really old and I wondered again of this story I think is a great story you know after 60 years these guys come out from Florida I think his chief sons because he felt was too old to go and how to do the study about but that was what but why is that significant Why is that so important that little bit was found again and he's to do something they're now going to research into that it was a party 3 course drilled from assaults and stuff that had collapsed or was cracking Now that doesn't mean anything to me so I'm not saying I'm not. Going to do that they might be able to take the stones or find the composition of the Stones or find out how the stones are going to to react to acid rain I don't know so I mean that there's this probably some geologist might tell you why well that's. Right. King love and pride on B.B.C. Radio last of every good afternoon Whatever you're up to across the county. Have your plans changed because of our The last night's football match with Liverpool and you want to watch Spurs I.X. Tonight because last night was so excited I want to go but he's pretty little when the point of the Champions League or because of the weather like my sister in law's guard know he's caught off work on the Garden State because he's wet outside 90 minutes past one I went to watch what Ollie Furlong and saw $134.00 go out for lunch with half an hour of songs right Chuck Norris what's going on with him while I was having a look running events that are going on at the moment because it's a big thing is it when you know you're doing the modren and lots of people are running together and talking about running and I came across an event that happened in Texas at the weekend called the Chuck Norris 5 K. And basically 5000 people dressed up as chill not race ran trying to say oh. And Chuck Norris himself was at the end looking in high 5 people and I just thought it was just amazing that over $5000.00 people from $48.00 states in America and 7 countries came together to be Chuck Norris and just really has that great community feel doesn't it about coming together with different people and just such a slow response just what we're raising money for we know they did raise money for charity. Which charity was actually. But yeah they Yeah and they also broke a record for the most people together in one place astronauts when I wonder how do . You know all the faces of him running to have still got it. I kind of want to do we talk in Leicestershire I just want to say that actually if we could do the race who would it be David as a person do you think are things about Gary Lineker I don't know some very much. I'm sure listeners will have a suggestion that he can do what you suggest that what. Just offer another Rainbow Yeah it would be cool wouldn't it and it would be really good the man or woman. Yeah yeah but OK here's a here's an idea what about Couch to 5 K. Literally people start on a couch so you sat down on the couch at the start line and he can't get laid and those people but you can get several couches down the starting gun goes 5 K. And you're wearing a mask of somebody and by the end of it that person's That would be amazing wouldn't it it would be really good. But why don't why don't why do you have a line of people every color of the rainbow on the couches and anyone who's in that line has to wear that T. Shirt that color T. Shirt so whether it's red or yellow or blue whatever talk about running it if you see that there is a thing of the ties that a marathon through the one producing areas of from yes it doesn't matter that's what the medical. Doctor was it like 7 video of the same thing every mile you stopping of a glass of wine but so my gosh you go Bessie I quite like the idea of it they but I don't know why but I think I think already events are really good anyway did the the yeah great North Wind last year and I remember being over took by a man in a pepper on the seat and I just thought you know these experiences are just. Really I mean heard about the party mountains is a thing on Netflix at the moment and it's been going to 25 years in 25 years he's only 10 people have managed to finish it as it's not advertised you have to they basically say if you find it then you should be there you meant to be there and it's a guy who's not from out of the money set up it's in the outback of America somewhere how exactly were it was sort of I don't know the background but it's a documentary that ultramarathoners a mouth and says 30 no it's like 55 hours long and you know and and what happens is when you turn up you have to give in a registration plate of where you're from so they collect them and they they put them all up for the race and you set up your tent and whenever the phone call goes you don't know. And it's going to go that's where you're sort of the morning yeah that sort of start the races Yeah that's what the what the Barkley Barkley marathons if you look up on Netflix a friend of mine told me about it so I started training for an hour now. Absolutely dark Couch to 5 K. Small me right so that's Chuck Norris OK Working from home good or bad Tim Yeah really we had one this was on the on the on the news so yes they were this morning so basically what they're finding is actually. The amount of people working from home has increased more than one and a half 1000000 people are now working from home as their main job and basically this is virtually doubled in the last 10 years. There was a thing on the news where a couple with Apple Amazon or one of these big company companies that actually let people work from home and one of the directors actually got to the car park one morning that wasn't a single car in the car park every was working from home that she found the products productivity went down so actually they actually banned working from home but the thing that sort of struck me with this was the charity Mind of the mental health charity was actually saying that working from home can actually cause more loneliness and more isolation so I think having the opportunity to work from home is good but it should be a sort of a bit of a mixed bag there are pros and cons I mean again to go from a back pain point of view at least in an office hopefully you've got a dedicated workspace that set up for you to work but at home you get people say well actually I worked on the dining room table actually worked on my laptop in from the telly which is not particularly good either put it productivity wise or most recently. What do you think then about those a think is a business that allows people one day a week to get to the sort of balance does and that's good I think having having a choice is going to be again these days I mean that was the one thing that sort of says it here sort of flexibility and freedom so you can be in when you've got so deliveries and stuff like that but also there's the sort of in-between thing is there a lot more people that being self-employed lets you go to these hubs so so they're not there's not a set office but they actually have these sort of hubs where lots of different businesses can actually go and use their laptops etc etc So at least you're communicating with other people because again not being funny is a human need to actually talk to people and be the people company we have this idea for anyone who works on their own self employed at Christmas time we wonder what they do for Christmas party can you hear the B.B.C. We can say we're going to go here and everyone can say yeah I'm in for it I'm not for it but when you work for yourself what you do so what we talked about is literally before we came on air we're going to do a solo printers. Christmas party for all people that work there and to come together I think it's fantastic because like I said there is a real thing of people being isolated OK that they work hard but again the trouble is some people that are sort of workaholic so they're working to all sort of 11 12 o'clock at night that's not healthy either so you get the both sides of that both sides the core and where people that will work from home set up after work you know you need a place to go for sanity Don't you need a space to go home and if you were made where is that that's you need to have some sort of separation I mean we went to visit some friends just as when we come back from from Rob Utah who live in chicks 3. And their fortunes are just sort of the bought a farm house the boat their office and it's literally a separate part of that so they actually go through 2 doors that's their office when they finish work that closes and that's it yeah so I think it is about what I mean this is now I think you know I have a commute to work so if I can work from home one day that can save me save 2 hours sat in a car. I. Am and you know you. Just definitely as well I think I think if you go it's like anything in life isn't it if you've got a mixture if you're doing only one thing that's. To thank you. Thank you but don't think it's raining I think. I go. On my way and. You can see these guys are going to. Be. Carly Simon your save a on B.B.C. Radio Leicester saw I mentioned that I was going to be running the magnificent 7 for charity which helps children with life and their families I said. Fundraising page last night which I'd never done before so it was new for me. And I just put something out on Twitter and Facebook and the targets been met so I got the target game I just want to say thanks to a couple of people who. Who donated Fiona but also more rock as well as very very kind of thank you and also very he donated some monies was a thank you very much for. The radio.
