Lives The living thing morning then how are you today what we got on the show 1st up what is analogy when is analogy not analogy and when is it an intolerance What is the difference and I don't know if you think the same is May but you hear a lot about allergies now everyone seems to have run well we have a chat about that with Katherine Jane she'll be in the next 20 minutes and I'll tell you of any questions for Catherine about allergies and food intolerances you can get them in right now and 603617321 we've also posted on the Chrissy Jackson Facebook page if you want to have a look at that last time it was a couple questions on that already but you can add yours to that so allergies and intolerances 1st stop and Jim will go another in our series names for produce adds new baby if you've been following this over the weeks I play a song with a name in the title we've gone for a boy's name today and I reckon it will be the perfect one I think Ed and Sarah was My pliant all about you morning it is Chrissy Jackson here and one and I do hope their producer is fading suitably excited about the song and to play in within the next 10 minutes heads Yeah you don't know what it is you know you've decided to keep it bit of a secret from me today yeah but it's going to contain a boy's name Yeah because we've done a few girls and I have done very many boys by thing I found the perfect You're quite sure about yeah brace yourself. Christy Jackson and you know what the mid-morning show during January we given you the chance to get your hands on 2 limited edition money can buy essential household items and it's the last day today it's about the last. A human. Thing. Good morning if you've been listening to mid morning show Sunday over the last oh I'm definitely the last few weeks we've been playing songs the bit the difference all the songs have names and why have we been doing that every now and again if you missed the big news producer red and Mrs Smith Zara and little Georgie he will be welcoming a new baby we will to the household anybody can in the day. Before the 10th so we're about 8 or 9 weeks away now and we are 9 weeks away I was thinking about this yesterday when I was home I thought Now when the baby comes and finally here you can have to call the show now you know it will be broken to the county right here in Norfolk you will call it mid-morning show yeah I was going to pack up our radio car outside the n n Yeah. Yeah. There would love you forever what would you take the show. You know we always have this thing with baby's name to be doesn't quite know what to go for George's I mean Madge and George is the name that you thought of quite early on we had George nailed for years and years and years ago George was the name that we wanted but we didn't sort of think we do need another name of a slave so we've still got the reserve girl's name for what George would have been called Had he been a go through might go for that we are actually really stuck for boy's name and we don't know what it is by the way we don't know well all that I've been thinking about this offer to sleep this night is try to think of a boy's name I thought I know what Mr or Mrs Smith would would lie you have been good at this you have been good at coming up with a girls' names but I think the pressure is on for you to come up with a decent boy's name you what you want to name that will go well with me obviously is goes without saying you want a saw you want to you want a name that would say Here I am here I am look at May Here I am yeah stand out from the crowd yes with a bit of panache maybe like it was a to Nash Palash Smith maybe yes no excuse me you've been working hard on this and this is this is the one I've come up with an armed sure you will love it to bits and Sarah will be on the phone right now oh let's say when she hears this name I've come up with not like you to have a look online and see how many men with this name have been registered in this country this would you think this whole I know exactly what you've gone for Ferdinando often and Ausmus I think it works really well. Go away. Qualify a question for normal today killer whale has been heard mimicking a human voice while the star of a film called Free walked all were after the missing word 016-036-1732 extension 1 right come on then produce a Red Rock thank all of finance our 1st officer as a name there won't be any other financial Smiths in the class but if a Nanda goes to school he's a bit exotic isn't it. You won't get many finance and fast and we'll. Have the 1st one he would stand out from the crown and I think you know he might have a career in the theatre or on t.v. Or something like that though Smith. But. I think we need to go back to what you were. Last week by Blondie Denise and Jenna So they are all I've done is right for now and you saw put it to my computer here how many finance used to you think were born this time last year well hundreds. Lower. Less than 10 No 10. But it is all. 10 born last year it peaked about 8 years ago with 20 but to say it's up and down it's an understatement yes but not that one a.b.c. Then it would be quite rare wouldn't it if you've only had 10 for that what about middle 9 and well put Fernando Yes I'm in love I was going to say Kevin Kevin so I'm not his name of the I need to name and create I'd be Christopher for your name but yeah I think Fernando should be in there somewhere oh no mid-morning show launch this space Yeah you say I'm slowly slowly getting my way there and as always when we when we play this game I call a little game we always get people texted and everything but Bateman grand books think you should go for Angus Smith Well I like that because he's apparently my favorite go the prison discussions so I really like that Bateman Mike suggest Wilfred I love the name Will a close friend of mine has a son called Wilfred so we can't do that I want the name of rye and one more to just to run by you Miles Sebastien Well you know it's funny enough Sara has been going on this one saying we need to go for Sebastian said skylights said I don't know who I don't know if we'd go for Sebastian but it's a good it's a good one yeah so your I think mostly it's the closest of all. But not Fernando right like pick the song next time Chrissie Yeah but not where we might pick the name as well you know I don't know you haven't. Tried. To. This was. A kid. And good Radio Norfolk traveling his Russell Crowe hearing that song fabulous anything wrong with it Chrissie is just too short and yes it is a very short song whenever we played I'll tell you this Russell whenever we play that song we get people call we get people text saying it with exactly the same reaction that you just had there it's really good there is a 47 there is a bit of a cue coming up from hops and towards Gholston up towards the Lynx road roundabout very very slow of couple weeks or so because of work I've been doing there's a delay on a 47 as well coming around the nor It bypasses on the westbound side the key starts just before the a 140 and goes towards where the I was and crosses to be 1130 he said before you get to the 11 some which was close and that was something certainly seems to be going on along that stretch of the I 47 you know whether it's to let you know sweep by road so coming down towards that there are a road that's very busy on the. 1145 again today coming around towards the mile I'm area towards King's Lynn a busy anywhere anymore to let you know 816-036-1732 extension 100 still holding with your b.b.c. Radio traffic. 100 years ago women won the right to fight to mark the sit scenery b.b.c. Radio No 6 l. . Breaks the lives of the county's female pioneers many people in suffragists said they didn't believe in too much aggressive action but the princess's were much more militant the groundbreaking Women Who Changed the worlds of science the arts and politics for. Limited before the House to take. This program which I think says it will in the history of psychiatry brain she has been somewhat discover the role Norfolk women played in winning the right to vote all next week on b.b.c. Radio. Of the. Morning it is pretty Jackson. Coming up on the show that is the next 10 minutes when is analogy not analogy when it's an intolerance and what's the difference are there more allergy sufferers now than ever before the brilliant Katherine genes will be on the show taking your questions and clarifying a few things for a straight after are on this day music history track that's on in the next few minutes before all that though is a supply. Issue I'm slowly. So. do allergies and food intolerances with Katherine Jane's in a few minutes time but before all that you're on the stay music history track for today it was on this day the 31st of Jan Reno 970 the Jackson 5 get to number one in the States with a song that launched their career with Michael Jackson singing the lead vocals at just the tender age of 11 years old it will peak at number 2 here in the u.k. Now this song was originally intended for Gladys Knight and The Pips and one point even Diana Ross was going to record it and this song was also the 1st Jackson 5 single released by Motown Records that most expensive record to date. And the original song title walls going to be all I want to be free but Berry Gordy decided that he wanted it to be a little bit more of a love song so they decided to change the song title tooth I want you back. Jackson 5 I want you back to morning it is scratchy Jackson here and till 1 o'clock today on the u.c. Radio Norfolk about 2000000 people in the u.k. Have a food allergy more than 25000 people were admitted to hospital in England for allergies between 2015 and 26 states and that's a 3rd higher than 4 years earlier and the number of people treated for an a flat shock is also on the rise but why to talk us through everything that you need to know about allergies and intolerances Katherine Jane's a knowledge base nutritionist therapist and also an allergy test Good morning to you Catherine and thank you so much for coming in as I know you're super busy all the time thank God you're nice to be have beauty time of year. And I will say that we will take some coals with one eye we got some comments on the Chrissy Jackson show Facebook page already but if you do want to give give us a call and have a chat to Katherine quite happy to take very little sunny 016-036-1732 extension 1 can we start with what is analogy so analogy is basically army. System reacting to something that normally would be harmless satyr those that don't have allergies but it's our immune system reacting to something that it shouldn't and can you get an allergy at any age you can there are times in your life when you're perhaps more likely to get allergies but it can happen at any time definitely And what about hereditary if your mom or dad or your gran has had an allergy can that we understand that certainly can that's called a top a topic allergy so parents that have allergies particularly have both parents that have some form of allergy including eczema and Assman we don't tend to think of those as always allergies we tend to think of the classic kind of peanut and the fact that shock. And also a legit conditions and that predisposes a child to having a much higher risk of developing an allergy as well and also just as a we can get out of allergies as well as all and develop them but we can also grow out of them and we can particularly childhood allergies they can be very much a very common need to grow out of them as it is it right there so they can grow out of them by the age of 7 the magic number yes yes and even at age 23 or 4 children that have milk allergy is very pronounced as babies they can often around 4 or 5 with a dietician or nutritionist support my add can actually then start to be introduce milk for example for milk allergy babies and what is the difference between an allergy and an intolerant so sometimes it's difficult to separate but we tend to think with allergies that they are more instant reactions that happen quite instantly so the classic reactions you might see a when you might see someone with swelling in their lips or throat closing type scenario also like I said asthma and eczema and that is a separate type of immune response we produce a different antibody in an allergy response to a food intolerance or an intolerance reaction generally. Intolerances we associate with foods and that's a different immune response tends to be a lot slower can have similar symptoms they like mucous forming type symptoms. It might affect water retention it might make it you might get headaches and migraines and things like that the real difference is is that it's you can do a lot more about food to intolerances in the short term to reduce your reaction to foods whereas allergies you commonly need to be off those foods for life and it's much more difficult to do something about analogy there are things you can do is Ok Alright maybe if we've got time that we will get on to that are I've got a feeling that we're going to be coming back over the next few weeks or so talk about let's get our 1st caller on and it's Betty in our jello Betty. Good morning Betty Your through to Catherine Jane what would you like to ask what color in. Your is right Ok you know you're intolerant to wheat and fish is. Deficient intolerant right Ok allergic to fish and intolerant to weight is that correct yeah but the other day I thought. I had a real reaction Ok so what I would say is that if you're reacting to one food then your can commonly react to other foods and that might be your developing out of the allergies over time can I ask what type of reaction you had to the seaweed. Thing to get me on my chair. So uncomfortable it was. Really yeah I'm sure it sure it was analogies can be very frightening I think the 1st step to do is to go back to your g.p. If you have any symptoms like that it's really important to speak to your g.p. Will talk a little bit more about that there are things that you can do to help support balancing of your immune system it's been difficult to prevent research studies that things like vitamin d. In probiotics actually reverse or stop or reduce allergies but we know that one of the strategies for helping to support the immune system with allergies and intolerances to trying to balance the immune system so some people may find that they benefit from taking prebiotics and. Yes Yes And there isn't lots of things that might cause you to suddenly develop allergies you know looking at you would die as a whole you know eating a healthy diet as much as you possibly can and is going to support. The right. Yes but I think to make sure that you're getting enough protein in your diet as well because if you have gone into a beacon diet protein is also important for the health of your gut as well. So I think go back to your g.p. Speak to your g.p. Certainly And then I think really looking at trying to make sure your diet is as healthy as it can be and if you do have a reaction to foods and you obviously do need to avoid those Ok Betty. Thank you very much thank you good morning is Christy Jackson here and to woman got Katherine genes with us this morning and we'll talk about allergies and intolerances and on our Facebook page it's Jennifer said Morning Chrissy and morning Catherine my 23 year old daughter has suddenly developed eczema it started with swollen eyes this happened twice and she thought it was because I'm a scholar was out of date when she went to a g.p. He diagnosed eczema. Shortly afterwards she got rashes coming up on her skin this is only just come about and I thought you only got it from a young age my daughter and then goes on to some products that she uses on her skin one not skin care that says it's allergen free and uses the neuron her skin do you get a lot of people the problems with makeup and skin care yes certainly we can really react see what is going on our skin and it's really important to look at getting as natural bronze as she possibly can there are some lovely brands out there like mention if you like Neil sharp green people tropic are using really good Brown called hopes that do relief really good creams for Xmas which is really really good and I think it's getting as natural as you possibly can even if it's had an allergen free it still might have some things that you react to so you know looking at as natural as possible with brands and just to say obviously a brand with skin care can call itself will get Nick but it only has to have one or 2 are going to can gradients it's not 100 percent organic in the same way as food so just because something said Forget it doesn't mean it's 100 percent natural Oh I don't understand your maybe our other many things that we should look at if if if if we're buying make going for a skin cream or something should we be taking care and have a look at the ingredients in that yeah I think so but it's difficult to say you know which ones that you might react to because there are so many and they'll be so many ingredients that you do that you don't recognize that your problem and the fact is there has to be some preserver in there otherwise we'd have to be you know making our skin creams every 3 to 4 weeks so I think it's just going for brands that are genuinely as natural so some of the big brands that might say their natural are actually not as natural as they say they are so there's a couple of apps that you can get where you can actually scan your products of bar codes and see what might be in there that's also quite a useful thing to do as well Ok key because coming in 01603617. 3 to one Katherine Jean to say we're talking about allergies and intolerances as well got some more questions to get I will do after. You were you were you were was a. Question was was. Was was. Was. Was was. Was was. Was. A were you a us you were at the was it the us it was the a. Us was was was a
