The reason snow in the forecast it looks like possibly in some kind of Pepsi Morgan parts of that if we get localized heavy snowfall in any particular area with all this road to go that's when all sorts of problems that happens with road start to get blocked you know if it. Doesn't protect the road down to very very cold temperatures that's when you start running to difficulties actually b.b.c. Somerset news it's 4 minutes past 5. Travel b.b.c. Stouffer the area has been cleared of big problems of you heading west towards Wales with the westbound closure to the original 7 bridge in operation at the moment due to a serious collision being dealt with in the Chepstow area and also big problems tonight on Great Western and cross-country trains we know hearing that services have been suspended between Exodus and David's And this is all due to a person being hit by a train in the Taunton area back onto the roads and for the here and now if you were do spot anything that we haven't then please give us a call if it's safe and legal I'll have a full round up inside the next 10 minutes so 345-303-1566. 2 you know across Somerset travel you contrast on b.b.c. Somerset. So listen very carefully latest weather has the in Ferguson hello and a very good evening to you will ever colder air now starting to spread in from the east across the British Isles and this really is the gateway being open today into what's going to be some exceptionally cold weather now as we head through Tuesday Wednesday Thursday with yes snow flurries and snow showers times for some of you today no number of you have seen those occasionally down in the south and eastern parts of the county but as things stand accumulations from this drive powder snow are not going to be of any particular note in any one spot the wind turning to blow that around pretty readily and for a good number of you dry and fairly bright weather prevailing through tonight it will be turning very cold we could get as low as about minus 4 to minus 6 in some parts of the countryside but certainly by tomorrow morning say 7 o'clock in the morning given the wind chill effected Lachie feel anywhere from about minus 8 to about minus 12 minus 13 depending where you are to get the day under way through the rest of the day not dissimilar to today in many respects very much cloud right or sunnier spells occasional threats of some light wintry showers in places shouldn't see any great accumulations from that at this stage and on into Wednesday if anything the wind chill just picks up yet further it could be exceptionally cold weather real sort of risk of exposure from that if you're asking about. It's not properly protected say over x. More the amended and the like now we get into a difficult forecasting period Thursday and Friday certainly want to be keeping a very close eye on with the risk of a storm system running up from the south into this cold air giving some very strong winds the threat of some heavy drifting snow could be some problem blizzard conditions by that part of the week and with the uncertainties at the moment it goes without saying that I will try to find those out for you as we get closer to that period as a forecast now. You Carly Simon and your so vain Good afternoon this is Matt it's b.b.c. Somerset latest travel coming up music on the way from Crowded House and also before 530 you'll hear how Bathurst helped Team g.b. Win medals at the Winter Olympics 1st of all an inquest is opened today in wells into the death of a man who died whilst a resident trans care run care home in Somerset 33 year old Robin Richards from Minehead was found hanging at Highbridge court in Burnham on sea on the 29th of June 2015 he died 4 days later at Western General Hospital our reporter Ali Velshi has been at Wells all day Ali good afternoon what if you found out good afternoon to you Well the jury at Wells town hall heard that Mr Richards had multiple needs throughout his life arising from various mental health conditions including Asperger's and a.d.h. T. Now Mr Richard sister Amanda Richards told the inquest you're in a written statement that a social worker as a social worker she's very used to actually dealing with complex needs but she said that in the last few months of her brother's life it was clear that he was struggling desperately and that she'd completely lost faith in the community mental health services and the care home that he was finally placed in the inquest heard that in the last 15 months of Robin's life he'd been detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act on 3 occasions he took his own life at the residential unit at Burnham on sea just 2 weeks after he'd been discharged from the right and ward into Latin What is the inquest trying to establish Well you have to remember here this isn't like going to a crime court but what the inquest is trying to establish is what exactly happened in those months and weeks leading up to Robyn which is death because the family want to know and today we've heard as I say from his sister but also from his mother Susan now she gave evidence again in a written statement unlike her daughter was then questioned about her perception of what had happened Susan which is. Said her son to become very anxious because there was no clear plan as to what would happen to him after he'd been sectioned and we've heard much today about how his condition meant he really needed to know very clearly what was going to happen to him he became very anxious about all this on one occasion his mom said she he called her 42 times in one day now she said when she got the solicitor involved according to the mother it seemed to move very quickly and Robin was given a place at Highbridge court but she said that on the day of his death when she visited him she was shocked by his appearance and she said I knew the move wasn't right and that her son was a shadow of his former self and then when her son tried to hang himself she said the care home minimized the seriousness of the situation it was only when she contacted Western General Hospital where he'd been taken that she realized how serious his condition was that he was in a coma and unable to breathe for himself and at this point she said she felt extremely sad and cheated that she didn't have any time with her son. So who is their Allie and also do you know how long the inquest will take well all the evidence is going to happen hopefully weather permitting over this week but the people who are there are the family and then also we've got some sick County Council we've got the care agencies that we're looking after him and also something which you know all the bodies which are represented together who are all involved in the care of Robin Richards now we've got a statement from Highbridge court from trans care who say that Robyn was funny regarded by everyone but of course once the inquest is under way it wouldn't be appropriate to comment further other than to say that our priorities all times the well being safety and health of the people we support so many people there we're going to hear from lots and lots of witnesses this week from sort of expert witnesses from the people who were there on the in the months and weeks leading up to his death and the people who were with him on the day that he died as well so everyone will have a point about a chance to get across their opinions some of them will be questioned Of course what's different from a court proceeding is that the jury can also question they can ask questions of the witnesses as well but it will ultimately be for the jury to decide about the nature of the of the death and of Islay the will get lots of care care and help and attention from the senior coroner to Somerset County Williams as to how to make that decision but basically the family just wants some answers as to what really happened. Thank you very much indeed that's our reporting it's quarter past 5. Travel b.b.c. Somerset so time to find out what's going on with Brooks once again. Hello Michael evening Chu I was just getting some reports I'm afraid of a problem southbound on the m 5 i Reports coming in of an accident that's happened between junctions 21 and 22 so western towards Burnham on sea and certainly on our sensors traffic looking very very slow on that south. And stretch of the m 5 at the moment big problems if you're heading further west or further afield towards Wales this afternoon the original 7 bridge westbound that's completely closed all traffic all due to a serious accident around the Chepstow exit junction to say that westbound side closed off at the moment that's causing considerable congested not just in the particular area but the lanes back towards Allan spring as all traffic has to use the m 4 2nd 7 crossing tonight so consequently very slow towards the tolls of the moment and then back home still looking very slow for the $836.00 in the Cleveland Bridge area on the outskirts of the temporary lights on the road works delays as well for the a 38 between and Bradford on tone road works once again causing problems and accident is part blocking the a 30 double 3 drove road in the western area at the moment causing some congestion and then it's just really normal congestion for the Broadway through Bridgewater Market Street through Crewe Kern on the 830 Bettany just to confirm for Newton Road in the Stouffer area because that early a collision has been cleared we've still got a lease to Yeovil though on Lysander road towards the horsey round of been hearing for the last hour or so services substantial destruction to cross country and Great Western train services between Taunton and Exeter saying David's we can confirm that services are indeed currently suspended on that line due to this ongoing incident back onto the road back to the here and now if you do spot anything that we haven't please give us a call if it's safe and legal 345-303-1566. And Down saying it's told. At least. To. This list. But. You Crowded House and the weather with you it's b.b.c. Somerset latest news travel weather coming up for you and we'll hear a little bit more about the search that's Contin. Going to take place for a man who disappeared in Burnham on sea on Friday evening more from our reporter Clinton Rogers in the next 20 minutes on that as well so crowds gathered at Heathrow at lunch time to see Britain's Winter Olympians and Paralympians come home team g.b. Clinched 5 medals in Pyongyang hitting their target the biggest success story was the skeleton who are based in Bath Lizzy Yarnold won a 2nd successive women skeleton title to become Great Britain's most decorated Winter Olympians she spoke to the B.B.C.'s Daniela Relf after getting off the plane I had to come home unfortunately early because of that my chest infection I really just needed to rest and now I'm have ready to welcome the team you don't realize how much the nation is supporting you until you walk in here and you know just walking along people are often selfies and to tell me that they've watched the event and they were screaming at the t.v. Which is just it means everything to this is what about broadly reflecting now on the success of the team and how they have done how do you look back at that I think even in. And they came for medals didn't quite live out their dreams you know everyone should just be so proud of themselves because this moment in again to the Winter Olympics is a dream that people held close to the full maybe 8 years and it has that's a lifetime worth of horrible training and they have done their best and I you know I'm really proud of everyone and to bring home 5 medals between us is a huge achievement and briefly that you have you got another Olympic Games in you do you think I think it's a hard question to answer at this time but I'm just enjoying the rest I'm enjoying it and showing people these medals it's the 1st time I've worn them together and then we'll see what happens now the B.B.C.'s John McGraw is going to see the team in Bath who helped make it all happen and find out how a city which rarely sees snow nurtures gold medal winning Winter Olympians we are here at the University of Bath this is the push start track now one of the reasons why Britain's been doing so well in this discipline. Over the last well 345 Olympic Games something like that which really picks is because of this facility here there starts a so so good it's not obviously on ice it it's on concrete there are matting there's this sled here that is on wheels and it gives them a chance to practice and to fire down there's a kicker at the back there so you go up and you come back down a bit like those water parks that you get when you go on holiday let's talk to some of the guys here to a couple of the athletes also Danny Danny Holcroft you are had a performance here 3 out of 6 medals wasn't. Very good I mean I think. Expectations of what sort of a medal to come back with the ring is great and why the Brits so good why these guys are so good I mean I think starting upon struck me this is as close we get to ice. But we haven't got a home for us we have to do a lot of things different other nations have to look at more detail got a really tight cohesive team he sacrificed not unwelcomed very very hard as well as these guys and thanks to our u.k. Support and a lot of fun because it makes it possible you. Are on the team hopefully they'll be household names in 4 years time once we get to China but you have got a conventional background for this I. Know I used to be a sailor right but when I was 14 so. Yeah we were 5th in the world so not bad but then we stopped that paradigm school university and training in the gym so all these guys walking around in the kitchen was entranced a bit of that and thought yeah why not so well to pass the podium which was this selection process that we went through you've got a new one just discover your gold is actually starting this summer Ok looking for people you know really if you're a graduate and I knew I suppose more traditional background in that you know. Then you've converted across to this what you like about it what you enjoy about it. But the adrenaline rush I think a credible is something you either love or hate Luckily I loved it the 1st time I did it. And you just get addicted to it really just want to keep going and do better and better and one day get stale and picks Yeah absolutely good luck to you ever get scared yes. Now John also found gold medalist Amy Williams Now you want your friend. 8 years ago what's life been like since then. I thought I can't believe it was 8 years ago when I learned to be now through 2 different Olympic cycles how can our team g.b. Again still have that with a skeleton I'm. In pother preventing tane and to be out just now in Korea on the skeleton scene the success that we've had Yeah and to be back a with new development present with with new athletes coming through it's really really magical thing to see that thanks Heya is what we practice so we don't have ice what we don't have all right nice try And yet year after year we're playing in High Meadows Yeah you get so I love and I should know because you feel like Paul that you're so proud of everyone and so proud of people like Danny Hoelterhoff Who has been in the program with Mark Woods who was my coach to begin with he's out I've been in Germany culture know the new law and the wave of coaching stuff and athletes and how good our program is Great Britain to be able to still keep these medals All right Amy thank you so much great to see and to see the medal there this morning on the push and you're a local girl you're both girl aren't you so they were yes where it all started really when you think about the program the skeleton brought him over the last few years espe
