This morning. Chosen start with Good Morning regular listeners. I am listen the smoke this for you. Is this love. 7 6 coming up to 25 on Monday morning good morning. Good morning thank you been on the show a lot this because we're talking about how it changes with age and how you learned to cope better experience more so how do you relate to the How have you changed over the years and. Oh my gosh so you know like in my twenty's you know it was about my 1st job it was about you know getting that paycheck and just kind of like finding my way nice of what I wanted to do and I was a massive had a matter of fact to my confidence and then you know sort of why most like in your thirty's in your forty's you kind of like you still have it worry about people think and you just were in the small stuff too much you're just too concerned you can pay it off to other people perhaps especially the injuries that I've been in you know with the modeling and that kind of thing and I think as you get older your life experiences like you know you foresee you learning more you feel older you for wiser and with that comes this amazing confidence just keeps growing and growing and growing and seventy's perfect haven't on this confidence curve where they've But they basically did all this research with men and women and they did find that men were more competent in their twenty's much more comfort in the women and it was about like passing a driving test and having that big spike in confidence with that and with women it was the same as what I said it was about the 1st kind of job in life landing that job I'm feeling like yes we're very confident and independent and then it kind of like you know women having a baby that was another big milestone on men getting a house or a flat that was a big milestone and then it was just like for us women in our fifty's it spikes you know massively more changes well lots of different things I think it's to do with the fact that if you are a mom your little one is grown up and left the nest and presorted in you for really happy about the fact that you've raised a good human paying. You know fending for themselves out there in the big bad world you got more time on your hand hands and you just simply a just less concerned what other people think about you you just think you know I'm older and wiser not to worry about that you've got all this experience on your bow and you've got more time perhaps to travel you want to do more things you just you just want to go out there and experience life and that I think is what contributes to that huge boost in confidence you know if and that's why I'm involved this campaign because it is about kind of celebrating. And encouraging us to just to feel confident from the inside out I couldn't agree more I remember few nights before and I wrote down where the biggest change is going to be 43 which I can't quite believe because the other week I was 27 so I'm 43 I look back and I think since I turned evil I'd say maybe even the loss of 18 months or so something has changed in me I'm a bit I'm a bit calmer Yeah and I think one of the key thing was tried to make people like me I thought was so important that I got my way to be helpful to everybody which I still do to some degree but I think before no matter how they reacted to me I would still want to try and make sure I was kind of they were nice back and they were always I think of a kind of bit of a walkover because I was so conscious that they got to like me whatever I do have got to make it work and I am ally you know what I'll be nice if they don't reciprocate forget it there's other people exactly it's like you know I think that happens to a lot of us you know we're people pleasers we want people to like us we want you know it's not like being selfless to the point where you don't look after yourself kind of thing you know you put other people much you know before you so and I think you're right the word that you used was calm and I think that that shifts it's like this calmness this sense of sort of security within yourself your sort of self-worth and it's really amazing to start feeling and to sort of do you know but I actually am in a really happy place I like who I am nice or start to have that self acceptance and and an opinion where you're not afraid to kind of say what you want to say and that just grows and grows and as I said it for women it's bikes in a fifty's but for you guys to it does there's a little spike as you get your 50 sorry for you it's only going to get better and better and I was good and this is great. But most of the. Parts of my job is a stone on confidence and I like overcome insecurities somehow imparts a little light up the whole past. What have you learned about your life if you've got older have you chilled out. A loan 6. More about what's going on in Wells. To stop the masses. On b.b.c. our thanks to our. C. Sorry Christie Avenue is an alley ways and you'll be busy localization across the West for Monday so what is in your life have given you the most confident model and presents that Lisa Snowdon joins me this morning and discussing the research about how our self-esteem grows as we get older thanks to experiences part 2 in a 2nd at Davis Tex and can't seem to say your comment about being nice to people I think you have to be nice to people that you've got to get the same back he says I spent my life being helpful to others if they don't like me bad luck I don't bother anymore was the point I made earlier we have to weigh the least about self-esteem you mention about modeling and I think in terms of a job I think again about you as well but I've done right here for a long time which is exciting it's great but it can be volatile it can be up and down and you always have aspirations to get to the next in the next job I got to the point now where I've gone and done loads of stuff it's been amazing it's great I'm Qana set a lot still want to do other things but I haven't got that I've got to keep on going 100 miles an hour you have to have that down time and that free time to go I've given 100 percent of what as high as I can but having the time and space away to relax and see friends and family. Realised in more recent years is just as important it absolutely is a totally relate to everything you're saying it's about that kind of life work balance isn't it rather than it used to be the other way around and you'd be striving and really ambitious and you know I think that is healthy to some degree but I think you get to a stage where you have to look around you go you know wall. On the back of me like I've done well I've got a great family I've got a great group of friends a good support group you know if you're lucky enough to like have a partner that you love that loves you and you've got family you know then I think you just sort of look around you take stock anything show I'm actually pretty lucky and I think you start worrying about all the things you haven't got and you just appreciate what you have core and I think that that is the big shift and that's what changes and that's why I just feel like you just feel healthier in your head and in your body and you just you just feel like life just gets better you know and is only looking after yourself as well you know as we're getting into our fifty's you still want to have that sort of you know that positive outlook and you want to feel really good in yourself and that's why I feel like I think I look better I feel better are you know I look after myself much better now than I used to so you know I just don't think that 50 is a scary age anymore I think it's something to be celebrated and just having that confidence from within is massive and so it's it's amazing the research they've been doing actually and it's great to be involved in a campaign like this and how do you overcome any insecurities about actually any good at my job now for us it was modeling Yeah right you put yourself out there you're you're being you know. Somewhat maybe somewhat superficial but in your head you've got to be confident that you are you know the person they want you to be but how do you overcome any sort of downs you know what I'd say that that is a situation in just straight especially when you younger for me it was anyway because it's inevitable you're going to be like why didn't they get that job because it's based on how you look so you know I remember thinking back to costings and they'd be big lines of girls and I'd be like I didn't get the job an operator which one. Which we go to and I was told off was I not blonde you know maybe I should be and you can't help but compare yourself so is a kind of a weird industry to be involved in so you know that I'm plays I'm doing not my main job anymore I mean it was amazing I got to see so I traveled the world and you know I wouldn't be who I was today if I hadn't gone through that makes him a she you are that rejection or that kind of things that we you know you've been through I've been through you know it does it makes you stronger it gives you thicker skin it literally you know this is all part of the experiences that we're banking up as we get older that just contribute to this kind of growing in confidence and this you know that just gets this just gets better and better you know all these not backs make us who we are for me it's more important about how you feel from the inside you know celebrating and encouraging people to feel empowered to feel positive and to know their self-worth Well last question is a bit out there but I'm I'm intrigued to know already I see on the t.v. Recently I think it was for the small warning there you are on holiday on a beach you can win 100000 pounds and are all it's incredible you go there for like 5 minutes record a little bit and then fly home or you make it into a holiday Well mostly we go there for 5 minutes till the lows are still really quickly and then fly back to a cage in Italy I might try and sneak out early for a day or stay an extra day but it's usually a really quick turnaround but I have been to some great places I know I don't feel too sorry for myself from a lot of Being to the movies and it was like it was as a round trip in 3 days and it probably I was on the plane longer than I was actually there but you know it was beautiful and I got to say the sunshine and beautiful tank weighs oceans I. Mean I'm lucky in that way but yeah they are quite flying visits in and now great to talk to you thank you so much junk you so much all of us are. Generally b.b.c. . The be a a. Styrofoam mix and have a nice day just on quarter to 6 point 2 says thank you to plan my choice of a white cup shake out truck as Aves and alleyways by Tony Christie you must have had lots to choose from have a good day thank you Pauline yes we do get requests if you like one of course one troubles for a jail to start your message I think I've got time to squeeze in one more before 6 o'clock would do it so I look at the papers shortly 1st news about all the old bull he has had to postpone his European soul because he feared his fans would not take him seriously if he was not performing at 100 percent former Black Sabbath singer now 7070 felt at home early this year aggravating injuries from a near fatal quad bike crash and I recall back in 2003 says he.
