And I don't know what I did with it if you know I think anyway October almost upon us well into the into autumn the colors are looking great and the weather definitely for the time the jolly chilly this afternoon the wind was in it and let me take you back to last week last week Friday was B.B.C. Music Day loads of events were taking place up and down the country radio stations television stations across the B.B.C. Everybody got involved and B.B.C. Asia network came to the West Midlands for an event called past the mike and basically what they did was put 24 female artists on the West Midlands on Burma Metro they performed in between all the stops passing the microphone between each other it was a bit like a relay on one of those buttons trams. Stop one artist finished and then a new. Artist gets on and take the reins so that's how we pass the mike on the Great One massive long performance they ended up being from Wolverhampton into. And Birmingham sideman who's a regular on Charlie's last B.B.C. One Xtra show helped pick up your some female talent from the Midlands and beyond alongside B.B.C. Asian network's home car who was hosting the event. Followed A great didn't like this was all going on like I was explaining on the West Midlands the other day for B.B.C. Music that the event was called pasta Mike. Brooks was present. And because of what extras and regular. Pain is keeping an eye on things for us life good thing the M 5 in Birmingham has roadworks between junction one and junction 2 that's the Birmingham Road West Bromwich for old Bree there's a contraflow on the South Bank courage way there are speed restrictions of 30 miles an hour some advance warning the M 42 house road works during the night that southbound between junction 7 for Coleshill and junction 3 A for the M 40 that's for barrier repairs and right on the edge of our area if you're on the M one southbound between rugby and Daventry that's junction $18.00 to $16.00 there is one lane close there while a lie a lie on a lorry stopping get tired changed or put today's teeth and it'll be if you see a problem call on travel hotline if it's legal and so. If to do so 103-301-2335 extension 55 plain B.B.C. Radio travel and you've. Been using half an hour Midlands Mazola with. From B.B.C. 95.6. So like I was telling you B.B.C. Wrong car on that last para fast the brecht 1st struck and that's just reminded me watchman to me a breakfast on this morning came into the office really early today into into the my a book see a b.b.c. Bombing him and everything was kind of norman until a got close to the front door and i thought all that lot of people standing around this one it and then i'm i'm away into the office and i thought oh is caught a lot of security around for a someday and then up stairs away and i'm just parts of around doing my thing and i looked into the fall corner where our t.v. Studio bear is on the plot minister was such that yeah fussing of the morning saw the pm just on the other side of the office while i was doing my thing knots on the happens every day is it and rice i was just a little produce a my are joining that song the air and she reckons she's come up with no real tough one today i'm talk about riddle yeah she going to come in by the studio with it soon lessee how tough are she says are all the time in the we get in a flash that we often and well come to that A little while you're listening to Midlands massage Sunday evening B.B.C. W M B B C commentary more except I let's hear about the Asian Disability Network right now a disability campaigner says that there needs to be much more support for British self Asians Shanny dunned is from the West Midlands from Warsaw and has set up the Asian Disability Network and Shanny was born with a rare genetic condition osteogenesis imperfecta which is more commonly known as possible owns and he says that not enough changed over the years feel strongly that there needs to be more support more awareness around disability within Asian communities and Shanny is on the line right now Shani a very good evening. Very well thank you and how you tonight thank you let's start the beginning why did you I know I explained a bit there are not enough changed over the years and it's been more support more awareness why did you decide to set up the Asian Disability Network. Well quite simply I'm 31 now get through with this conditional I am way I've never felt represented in society as an Asian woman or with a disabled woman and you know both the 2 of them my encounters how it twist except all identifying yet and still in 2018 then in our representation of that. And you know growing up I didn't have any Well model to look to it was a very isolating time and I don't want the next generation of the children or or adults growing up to be in the same position and I wanted to create at the point of what to whether you are a parent of a child who has an impairment or a condition or you yourself you have a condition PEM or you acquire one you have too much attention and you have you know a group that can support you that might have been through some of the same things as do you. Because as you can imagine disability has a must've negative stigma within Asian communities and I really want to change that . How exactly what exactly does ISIS What is it what provide short so we're current and online on the platform with plans that charged events across the U.K. So as I mentioned really the support network you know so from a growing there's nobody else I could speak to I didn't know one the person in my community that had a disability or looked any different and I'm 310 so I looked every different and I live in a world that isn't designed for me and you know I am very close with my my coach and my ethnicity I think and job a book I was always different and you know as I've grown up of come to to to my time to something really cool enough coming to my own but you know then getting a day hard enough right and then you go to these are the things going on so it's a it's a really it's a tight knit support now what I need to siphon out can spy school. To come and talk because you know generational to choose have read informed the community on how to deal with disability and that isn't necessarily always right and I also feel that service provided by the N.H.S. Don't always understand cultural issues and disability why I get it together yeah that's going on online and it sounds like you have a great network that you set up there as you said for for support and also get Wenna south as well talking of awareness how are things going to change then for the British South Asian community because you saying that not enough really changed over the years in terms of attitudes and I think you know disability you know cost why does so I think it's very awkward to talk about it and I think it's one of the most. All quick characteristics to let people openly talk about gender now where you used to be to be subject so I thought you know disability is definitely having a moment in society brilliant coverage of the Paralympics helps us to have the conversation but we need something more for our own community and I think one of the biggest fire is language so when we look at mental how we don't even have words to describe some conditions right that's the biggest barrier to how you know how we can overcome this if we don't even have the white language so I know we've got a mammoth task going to hand so you know it's more ask about everybody if you want to help if you just want to educate yourself more if you want to be more competent abound you know. Think about different. Conditions or you want to support your colleagues get in touch. Online there's some support if I go on because I'm posting to stuff too. So how do we do that how do we get in touch how do we get the Asian Disability Network so. You just type in Asian Disability Network or any social platform and you'll find it and you can also contact me directly at Sunny Dunder across all social media platforms I'm quite active so I'm sure you'll find me great stuff as I am I and then D.H. a N.D.A. Yes try to get it right thank you very much right here in about the Asian disability that will use our power and I hope I really do have attitudes do change now with this new generation and keep up the good work thank you thank Sonny all the very best study done from Warsaw here in the West Midlands set up the Asian Disability Network because of the reasons that you that you had not enough change over the years and there's not really much support around for Asians like culturally aware. Who are disabled no kind of network to until now Asian Disability Network if you want to look that one up on line. It's going here with you until 8 o'clock news in the next 5 minutes or so and then we'll come back to pasta Mike which was an event that took place here in the West Midlands with B.B.C. Music that a couple of days ago repinned a god poet spoken word artist was part of it will be hearing from Birmingham is ripping their God in a while White House music from the. Woods.
