News. Very good morning to you and thank you very much for that use by the way more news in all its side b.b.c. News dot com is somehow a little analogous a joke with you more tributes for the Franklin more singing from Alan you've been warned No not really a little bit you can't help it come help Stay with us we'll be speaking to someone from Detroit who knew her and was inspired by how well we've also lined up the latest sports and business news for you so stay with us. We start in Pakistan this morning where later today members of parliament are expected to vote in Iran Han as the new prime minister the Oxford scholar and world renowned cricket player once had a reputation on London's party scene but he's put all that aside now and let his p.t.i. Party's victory in July's election the b.b.c. 600 Kirmani joins us now from some about 6 under what exactly are we expecting today are just formalities we're not expecting any challenges in Parliament. No exactly right this is this is basically the 1st of 2 formalities non-con has to go through before officially becoming prime minister his p.t.i. Party emerged as the largest in last month's election since then because it didn't have an overall majority it's formed a coalition with another a number of other smaller parties so they now have got a an overall majority in parliament later today all members of parliament will vote on who they think should be the next prime minister but because non-cancer party along with this coalition have an overall majority it's really just a formality then tomorrow he'll be sworn in in a ceremony by the president again in Islamabad he's won this round of politics but there are so many challenges facing him the economy of course security his relationship with the Army where do you think his priorities lie at this point Well absolutely I mean I spoke to him on kind just I think a week or so before before the vote and I asked him what his priority would be if he were to be elected prime minister and he said certainly initially it would be the country's economy. Mounting financial crisis here and it looks all of the country may need its 13th i.m.f. Bailout because of. The foreign currency was addressed Italy drastically diminished and going forward he'll have a lot of other challenges because even with this coalition he's only got a slender majority in parliament so he'll face base a tough political opposition in parliament and Pakistan is a country with a troubled political past it's worth reminding you that no no prime minister has ever successfully completed his tenure in office Well exactly and what challenges are weak spectating that he's likely to face from the former ruling party now opposition pm alone yet again in a party which was in power for the past 5 years is at the moment the former prime minister who is the most well known figure. In the party why serif is currently in jail alongside Israel and to tell us what is leading the party on the outside so we'll have we'll have to leave there the line is Ingrid we apologize for the quality of the line there that was under her money joining us live from Islamabad. Tributes continue for Franklin queen of soul she died of cancer yesterday and a lot of the tributes are actually coming in for me on the scene as Christina Grillo describes as a timeless inspiration to me and so many others Britney Spears your favorite But for me your legacy of music like her music well your legacy musical forever is Paris and future generations well Destiny's Child stuck a little and wrote that it was truly a sad day Celine Dion added that Franklin was the most soulful and inspirational singer of our time and bucking Aretha's hometown Detroit as you had influence is a man's especially among African American women are many of them are artists themselves like just to care more who is a poet musician an activist in Detroit people up in her church New Bethel gathering from the church I'm assuming they're going to program their problems as early as tomorrow I think someone's coming maybe when the clock sister becoming the clock says it's been very famous cost musicians Absolutely there's a lot of amazing artists you know who live here who've been around a Franklin who we are know her just it's interesting she's a part of our community here just in the last year's big shows here most of us new here people in the in the artists industry here knew that she was not well at least for the last Bessie for the last 6 months it's kind of a known thing you know you think about your. Music how much of your research you see that all of you the soundtrack to my childhood. Was Ok. 4 taps and Diana Ross and the supreme That's right and like a. Monkey that's what I'm saying like smoke and I just saw smoke you look up. Front row his concert again just coming back to research you might know her better than I do how do you explain to someone who's never had a reason Franklin's musical tool or likely but who she was. I mean she's like the Holy Ghost because lots of people can sing and I've been writing these haiku for her day and one of them was Amazing Grace and I said you know some some can say and others some ancestors at will and I think that's what the difference is between just being a singer and being someone who's channeling an energy of a meter if you will have a chance to get to know her personally Yes So last year my son who is 11 opened up for her at a different music weekend and so we were very close to her in the backstage area even her before machine part I was on stage and she was for me but she was not well but when she got on the mike she was good for most artists I thought that's the will that keeps you going and a lot of people talking about her legacy now how would you define it you know it's I mean I think it's one of those things where truly is one of those things like lightning strike last that I was with in my lifetime that I got to see her watch her perform live I spoke earlier about it being about the journey and about us learning as black women artists and women on the planet how we can walk in her shoes when she wasn't thinking the work she did for the movement and for her community when she wasn't on stage and that's the timing work of being an artist you can be a singer you can be a person that really changes the way in every the face of. Lines out of respect I really just p.c.t. Whatever. I think it is but you know respect is right when we like that it's there and that's the one we walk with you that if they think about what you tried to do to me I mean that's really that's a black woman saying that right nobody have to say you better think that way we can and nobody can really sink it the way we think. It's impossible not to sing along I'm so lost civil discourse here more important musician activist and Wilmet an interesting point about the fact that she was a pianist as well in the class I was that video. Yeah so she walks in drops the 1st boss hammers the piano I believe we should do that Ellen we come into work by way of writing so that's what I did this morning did you get to do the business there you go inspiration this is news down the b.b.c. World Service Alan Shaima with you this morning will will be here with the business news in just a moment just a reminder of our top stories a Pentagon report says Chinese bombers are likely to be training for strikes against the United States and its allies Britain is joining the u.s. Canada and Denmark to fund an early warning system for Syria to alert civilians about imminent terror attacks and a new study warns that popular low carb diets could shorten life expectancy so pasta for lunch today will is here with the business news yeah we are talking about a story actually that we've been tracking for a little a week or so probably now and it's this our Jennifer listeners might remember I was talking I think was last week about Mr Musk Tesla the electric car company that boss put out quite a controversial tweet that got people talking it was in a nutshell talking about taking Tesla off the stock exchange making a private company again now there are all sorts of implications around that in terms of the rules that you're meant to follow in terms of making announcements around the eye. That has sparked all sorts of investigations a sort of firestorm really around the camp company that is at a meeting point this morning really so we've got Fox Business and Reuters reporting that the f.c.c. Which is the kind of watchdog in the u.s. That are going to investigate that particular tweet there's the Financial Times newspaper running a whistleblower allegation about the company this morning and it's all in a must over night has written an op ed in The New York Times which looks very much like a sort of get on the front foot p.r. Defensive one earth is going on Russ mode investment director a.j. Bell is with us and I hope we can answer that question Russ just 1st of all go I've tried to do it very briefly just run us through what the controversy is around the seal on Musk tweet while Mr Musk sends out a tweet saying I'm looking to take the company private off the stock exchange and the funding is secured which you implied he'd managed to get his hands on something like $57000000000.00 u.s. Dollars from somebody now that there are 2 things here 1st of all did he communicate appropriately the f.c.c. The American regulators said yes you can use Twitter so long as you've told people advance you going to use it to disclose information because information is freely available to everybody all at once so it passes that test the 2nd question whether is was that information accurate now there's enough to be intense it just is it actually accurate and there are questions is whether that's the case the Tesla board don't seem to know anything about it the only sensible committee after the tweet came out the company's regulatory filing you have to book paperwork with American regulator to say what you're doing that actually came in a couple days later than it would have done in a normal circumstances and some of the logical people he could have turned to like Saudi Arabia whom I think he seemed to imply were the likely buys it seems we're back and I see a little of that tracked a little bit in this New York Times piece that I related to today saying that he's in discussions where the original statement was that there seems a lot closer to a deal with Saudi Arabia Iran I mean how serious is this what are the penalties for if he is found to have done something if he's only intentionally misled people in all honesty I was thinking the Saudis were going to sign the check then the. Could be could be civil there could be a fine a civil penalty it could be a few $1000.00 or it could be a lot more than that if there's an investigation and it really in there is the belief it was an intent to manipulate the share price and intentionally took the share price so then you looking at criminal prosecutions which obviously could be very serious indeed and this comes against the backdrop of a company already scrambling to meet production targets that it's never met share price fell back again yesterday we're expecting it to take a bit of a hit again this morning where the real critical point for this company I mean that's not talking at a 2 big point is no I think it's it is because the company is burning cash it's got $2300000000.00 of cash on its balance sheet it's been losing about 700000000 dollars a quarter so that is coming down very quickly and it's got to bonds that it needs to repay to trade loans and if the share price isn't above a certain level $560.00 in November 300 $60.00 next March the company has to repay $1100000000.00 in debt so that's going to knock another big hole in its cash well so it is getting very tight Mr Musk see he won't he's thinking of taking the company private so he doesn't have to meet the short term targets but he's the man that keeps giving them out so they really know what Tesla has to do from a credibility perspective and a financial perspective it's not meeting Mr Musk targets a story we're going to keep watching Alan Rossmore from a table Thanks a lot of think You Tube It's news 20 minutes now to 19 minutes past 7 o'clock here in London as to Rolls was the little sports news late Well I'll answer that with a question how would you feel Allan if I told you to go and watch your favorite football team in a league match but in order to do so how much why do you personally you have to travel 2000 miles. This is going to happen if you are Spanish because a deal has been announced where Spain will become the 1st major league in the world to host games outside of the country or deals been signed for or matches to be played in North America else America or Canada there's no detail of yeah about who's going to be in those matches where there's. Take place we will be involved I think it's understandable there's a lot of anger in Spain and I went to some of these deals but it's trying to compete with the Premier League isn't it that's the that that's the be all and end all now because the Premier League is it is so powerful trying to catch up but lots of reaction to that to come over the next 24 hours elsewhere in the world of sport Senegal's most capped player has announced his retirement from football he's 41 he was part of 5 Africa Cup of Nations and of course the 2002 World Cup and Kenya middle distance runner kipping and bet has been provisionally suspended from international competition that's because he has refused all fail to provide a sample to doping test as the 20 year old won the 800 metre bronze at last year's world championships Alice rules thank you very much more from Melissa in 25 minutes a comprehensive look at all the sports news Stay with us if you can lots of sports by the way on our website b.b.c. News dot com 6720 here in London in northern Syria government forces are preparing for what could be a major offensive in the last Red Bull held stronghold of it seems inevitable now that President Assad will emerge but we know Syria's civil war and especially because he has Moscow to thank for that it was Russian firepower the town because of the conflict in President Assad's fever almost a correspondent Steve Rosenberg has spent this week traveling across Syria with the Russian military. Or the at the Russian air bridge near a tank here a commander points to 2 objects on the ground they look like 20 planes the kind that model aircraft enthusiastic flying in the park but these are drones and they were armed Russia says that in the last month its air base in Syria has been targeted 45 times by drones packed with explosives.
