The Prime Minister borisjohnson has given his first major tv interview since his decisive victory in the general election last month. In a wide ranging interview with bbc breakfast, the pm said the International Nuclear agreement with iran could be replaced by a deal negotiated by donald trump, saying a trump deal would be a great way forward. On brexit, mrjohnson said it is enormously likely there will be a trade deal with the eu by the end of 2020. And the Prime Minister suggested there could be a public Fundraising Campaign to raise the £500,000 cost of sounding big ben on 31 january when the uk leaves the eu. 0ur chief Political Correspondent vicki young is in westminster. Tell is more about what he was saying. And also the things he did not see mike, the big issue, the royal family, what is going on with making untidy and the big debate in the royal family about their future. Borisjohnson going the royal family about their future. Boris johnson going there. The royal family about their future. Borisjohnson going there. He knows that whatever he says, it would get him into trouble so he sidestepped that but he could not sidestep the issue of iran and the killing of general soleimani by the americans. The fact that the uk was not told in advance, Boris Johnson said the fact that the uk was not told in advance, borisjohnson said that did not matter. But it was surprising because there are british troops in iran in because there are british troops in iran in iraq so it might have been usual for the americans to speak to their closest ally and then theres the iran nuclear deal, something the american supplement out of. And borisjohnson saying that. Somehow or other we have to stop the iranians acquiring a nuclear weapons. That is what the agreement does but if were going to get rid of the agreement, then we need a replacement. The with the agreement, this is the crucial thing, is that from the american perspective, it is a flawed agreement and it expires plus it was negotiated by president 0bama and from their point of use it has many flaws. Well, if we are to get rid of it, lets replace it, let us replace it, lets replace it, let us replace it with the trump deal. But the challenge there to the president , he thinks of himself as a deal maker so this is the chance to do it. Downing street later said the Prime Minister did not mean that that deal as it stands should be scrapped. He talked about domestic issues, lots of issues there. The Prime Minister said the nhs was his priority. Then theissue said the nhs was his priority. Then the issue of social care was raised. Certainly over two decades has been lots of talk on this. The Prime Minister said earlier in the year there was a plan and he wanted to make big changes, dealing with an ageing population with more complex health needs and this is what yet to see about that. We are going to get oii see about that. We are going to get on and deal with this so people can get the care they need in their old age but do not have to sell their home to p4 their care. We will certainly do it in this parliament. This is a refund social care. Crucially pays for the care. Wikipedia states that is something that will run for decades. The other small issue of brexit. There are some in parliament who believe that big ben should be striking it is a problem of course as many will have seen from the television that big ben is being renovated so it is not ina ben is being renovated so it is not in a position to chime. The question is should it and who should p4 it . The cost would be 5000 £500,000. We are working up a plan so people can p4 the bongs of big ben. I havent quite worked out how that can happen. You are developing policy on this. As Everybody Knows big ben is being refurbished, they have ta ken the big ben is being refurbished, they have taken the clapper away so we need to restore the clapper in order to bong big ben on brexit night. So not entirely clear what the Prime Minister means there, some sort of crowdfunding so people who wanted to chime should do so. It will need quite a lot of work but it is clear that the government is not operating. Thank you very much. Very windy where you are. Just an update on the iran deal, france, germany and britain have triggered a new negotiation on the deal. This is about negotiating a new deal, they have triggered the mechanism into the first step into the input sanctions on iran and it means there is no process under way under which a dispute settlement period of time is entered into. It will mean the diplomats will need to get together to work out how they would deal with this issue going forward. There will be 13 days now the mechanism has been triggered to resolve differences. The deadline can be extended by consensus but as we heard from borisjohnson earlier, there is talk about coming up with a new deal. Also some breaking news on what happened yesterday with the talks on the future of heidi and meghan at sandringham. There had been a lot of speculation that meghan would be joining been a lot of speculation that meghan would bejoining in the been a lot of speculation that meghan would be joining in the talks by telephone. We hearfrom meghan would be joining in the talks by telephone. We hear from sources on the Reuters News Agency that it was decided it was not necessary for the duchess tojoin was decided it was not necessary for the duchess to join in was decided it was not necessary for the duchess tojoin in on was decided it was not necessary for the duchess to join in on the talks so the duchess to join in on the talks so she did not participate which has seen so she did not participate which has seen the queen agreeing to a transition period when the couple spent more time in canada. The iranian authrorities have confirmed they have arrested several people in relation the the shooting down of a ukrainian passenger jet last week. It comes as protests continue in tehran against the countrys rulers thousands shouted slogans, demanding government transparency. 0ur Diplomatic Correspondent Caroline Hawley is in beirut for us with the latest. What can you tell is about the arrests 7 what can you tell is about the arrests . Very little because the iranians have given no further details. They have talked about some arrests but no indication of who has been arrested but there have been huge calls for resignations and for sackings over this horrific mistake that led to 176 people being killed. Until the iranians announced who has been sacked, this crisis of trust that the Iranian Regime now has with his people will continue. How widespread are the demonstrations and what is the sense of how much they could potentially threaten or point to a change of direction potentially . It is very difficult to gauge exactly how widespread they are independently from the country. But we know they were fairly widespread protests over the weekend on saturday and sunday into monday. Notjust tehran on saturday and sunday into monday. Not just tehran but on saturday and sunday into monday. Notjust tehran but other cities as well. We know the Police Used Tear Gas and batons and there are some indications that live fire was used. The judiciary indications that live fire was used. Thejudiciary are seeing indications that live fire was used. The judiciary are seeing this morning they have arrested 30 protested. They say they will be tolera nt of protested. They say they will be tolerant of those taking part in illegal protests but not tolerant of those taking part in illegal protests. It was at an illegal protests. It was at an illegal protest that the British Ambassador was arrested briefly on saturday. The iranian judiciary on educating him a persona non grata in iran, saying he is an undesirable element and he breached the vienna convention, the rule book for diplomats, by attending the rally. The British Government is saying that the iranian speech that by arresting an ambassador. Thank you very much. Breaking used to bring you about the demands for a second Scottish Independence referendum from the snp, we havejust Scottish Independence referendum from the snp, we have just heard that Boris Johnson from the snp, we have just heard that borisjohnson has from the snp, we have just heard that Boris Johnson has formally rejected the request from Nicola Sturgeon for holiday to be given the permission to hold a second referendum. Appealfor another independence referendum. Greater Manchester Police is to reopen historic child sex abuse cases including that of 15 year old victoria agoglia. Victoria was in local Authority Care in rochdale and died in 2005 of a heroine overdose administered to her by a 50 year old man who had been paying her for sex. Victoria became the subject of a bbc drama series and a subsequent documentary the betrayed girls. A report published today, found significant shortcomings in the original investigations into her death and the abuse of other Vulnerable Children concluding that fears over Race Relations were a factor in the way police tackled the crimes, and that an investigation into the grooming of vulnerable teenage girls predominantly by asian men was under resourced. Andy burnham, the mayor of greater mancherster said in a press conference in the last half hour, i am truly sorry that the victims were let down in the way they were and confirmed the reopening of the investigation. Joint police and social Services Investigations should take place where theres evidence that a child is involved in commercial sexual exploitation. This should occur in all circumstances, including when a child refuses to make a complaint. There never must be an expectation that vulnerable young people can provide protection for themselves. Sadly, that is what happens on that lesson was not learned. The headlines on bbc news. In his first interview since the election the Prime Minister has called for calm in the middle east and for the us to agree to a nuclear deal with iran. A damning report, focusing on the death of 15 year old victoria agoglia, says dozens of children abused by grooming gangs, were failed by Manchester Police and local authorities. The government is considering cutting air Passenger Duty on all domestic flights, as part of a plan to save Regional Airline, flybe, from collapse. And coming up canadas Prime Minister says hed support the duke and duchess of sussex moving to his country but security costs need to be discussed. Qualifying for the student open has been disrupted by bushfires in the country, one player was forced to retire after suffering a coffin threat brought on by the air quality. The first meeting of Deontay Wilder and fury ended in a job but he has said to wilder he will go to sleep and to mike. The barcelona way is being returned by the new manager. More on the stories just after half past. The Prime Minister says that the government will do what it can to help flybe, the struggling Regional Airline, but said it was not the governments role to Save Companies from collapse. The government is considering cutting air Passenger Duty on all domestic flights as part of a possible plan to save the firm from collapse. Air Passenger Duty, or apd, is charged on all passenger flights from uk airports, excluding Northern Ireland and the Scottish Highlands and islands region. The amount paid depends on the destination and class of travel, but under current rules, standard class passengers on domestic and short haul flights pay £13 in apd for a single journey using a uk airport. For longer routes over 2,000 miles from london that charge goes up to £78. Changes to air Passenger Duty could reduce Government Income from the tax, which the office for budget responsibility says is expected to reach £3. 7bn this financial year. Lets hear what borisjohnsons had to say about flybe when he spoke to dan walker on bbc breakfast earlier. It is not for government to step it is not for government to step in it is not for government to step in and Save Companies that simply run into trouble but being no doubt that we see the importance of flybe into severing we see the importance of flybe into severing delivering we see the importance of flybe into severing delivering connectivity across the whole United Kingdom. It is very important for instance when i was is very important for instance when iwas in is very important for instance when i was in Northern Ireland and we are working very hard. I cannot go into the commercial confidential discussions. You are prepared to do something . We are working very hard to do something but people understand there are limits to what government can do to rescue any particular firm but what we will do is ensure we have the regional connectivity that this country needs. Boris johnson speaking to dan walker. Lucy budd is a professor of air transport management at de montfort university and joins me now. What difference do you think it would make the tax is scrapped . Any amendments or changes in Passenger Duty should have an equal change in the price of air tickets. 0ne outcome is that on the routes where there is greater level of demand the airline will pass on the saving to consumers in the form of lower fares. The other possible effect is that on marginal routes where demand is lower, abolishing or amending the tax would make these routes more commercially viable and consumers would benefit through the maintenance of connectivity or Airlines Offering other routes which they currently do not offer. How much of an impact because it had in saving flybe . Flybe have a lot of their routes in the uk, they are very important in terms of regional connectivity so any changes or amendments to Passenger Air duty could be beneficial to flybe and help work towards protecting connectivity and the importance of Regional Service for the United Kingdom. The flybe network does cover a large proportion of uk domestic flights, half of them outside london so it is notjust a commercial consideration but part of the infrastructure but in terms of being, what would be the most protective two to protect flybe, do you think this is it . My understanding is that it is possible within the confines of the current regime to abolish air Passenger Duty. Some countries in europe have already done that and clearly it would be to the benefit of flybe to look it this again. Many airlines thought it had against it and said he did not think it promoted regional connectivity but flybe is joining the date when it comes to air service connectivity. A lot of the traffic is not concentrated on london so this is clearly something the government is looking at. There is unhappiness about the prospect of this from environmental groups, greenpeace say it would be shocking where the government to do this because it goes against efforts to reduce nations. What is your view of that . When air Passenger Duty was put into effect in 1984 it was for raven me put into effect in 1984 it was for raven me revenue put into effect in 1984 it was for raven me revenue raisin
