to bases after completing drills. this was the response from the head of the nato military alliance. so far, we have not seen any de—escalation on the ground from the russian side. over the last weeks and days, we have seen the opposite. continued military build—up with more troops, more battalions, more high—end capabilities, artillery and missiles and a lot of support elements. it may be several days until we know for sure whether russian troops are being withrawn. what we do know is that more than 100,000 russian troops have massed at ukraine's border. these red dots show where they are located. we also know large scale military drills are ongoing. these pictures are from crimea — the region russia annexed from ukraine in 2014. we had this assessment from prime minister borisjohnson earlier.
