Brooke, thank you for being here. Traffic was snarled in places like london and paris because taxi drivers say this is not a level Playing Field, that there is something amiss with using technology to hail a taxi using these kinds of apps. What is your take . You have to be disrupting the way things are done to be innovative stop innovative. Hail a cab, but we are working with the existing players. When you say working with the existing players, you mean the app connects with those taxis that are already licensed in these various cities . Exactly. In london, we work with the metered cab drivers. In new york city, the union cap drivers. The existing drivers and were giving them our technology to help them leverage their business and to do more business. What is your reaction when gethear critics of uber and taxi say, theres a safety issue involved because you never know who is going to show up based on your call. I would be careful not to lump all of the players into that bucket. We are very concerned about safety and we make sure that all of our drivers are safe. We will make sure you have a safe and good driver. Make isare you doing to operating in multiple cities . Usually, there is a dispatcher. You would call a Central Location and the dispatcher would dole out of the various calls to the various drivers. Is that going to disappear and have people connect directly with the drivers . Change. That will finding a taxi based on where you are. It is making that process smoother and the driver for the driver and better for the user. Does that mean that the driver will make more money . Absolutely. And there is another form of payment, so you can pay through your phone and not have to make change. All of the players. When you see these protests, what do you think of this . Is it because they are misinformed, or because they are more or less part of a monopoly situation and a field and they feel threatened . I think they do feel threatened. Uber has not always existed nicely in the same space and followed regulations. The technology is here to stay. Teach governments and businesses how to work best with it. What is next for get taxi . Where are you currently available and what do you want to do in the next six months . Things are great for us. We are the secondbiggest player internationally after uber. Are you depressed or disillusioned by the workplace . I have spent 15 years looking at the workplace and ive always known it is not a very satisfying place for people to be, but even i was surprised. I was ridiculously surprised by i did an article about all of this, as you said, in the New York Times and there were 500 comments and we finally cut them off. The depths of despair and unhappiness was one step beyond what i imagined it was. Lets talk about the kind of creative and Strategic Thinking for just a moment. Nearly three quarters say they do not have time to do it. I think it is really 95 . I see it with ceos and i interact with them all the time. Number oneaps, the thing they are telling me. The urgent so overwhelms the important. The constant influx of information, we are surrounded by it here at bloomberg. It makes it incredibly hard to do the very things that would have the most value. How do you combat this . You have to take back control of your boundaries at this point. There are no stopping points. We are on all the time. If you do not establish boundaries, on times and ofttimes, consciously and intentionally, and rigorously in a sack percent sacrosanct way, its not going to happen. You have to make sure you are 100 are sent engaged. One way to do that is 100 engaged. One way to do that is to turn off the devices that are so pavlovian. Turn off the devices. Maybe go outside and do something that is not related to work and let your brain work in a different way. A lot of this is, will the employer support this . Until now, the idea of renewal and recovery has been that is not something you do at work. It is for slackers. The people who get the for this are the people who push the hardest for the longest until they drop. But in reality, we found that each additional break at 90 minute intervals, which is the human rhythm going from alert to tired, each additional break increases your capacity to focus , increases your capacity to think creatively dramatically. Get more done in less time at a higher level of quality by intermittently building renewal into the day. What do employees need in order to make this happen . Employers have to do some environment of trust. What do employees need . They need the recognition that discipline is wildly overrated. You have to build very personal precise rituals. If youre going to take a break, it is a break at a certain time. It is built into your schedule as a meeting would be. To recognize that unless you take control of your life, the Digital World is going to control you, and millions are suffering from that. In your own business, the Energy Project, have you implemented all of these things . We absolutely have. You get four weeks of vacation in your first year, five weeks in your second year. We do not have them respond to email on the weekends. In every way, we are trying to build an environment that invests in people, meets their needs, instead of trying to get more out of them. That is the fundamental paradigm shift. Are you able to measure the performance as a result of taking on some of these actions . I can only tell you that we have a relatively small staff, a Pretty Big Company in terms of our revenues come an Amazing Company in terms of the level at which we are doing our work, and a growth rate of about 50 . I think most companies would be thrilled to have what we have, and we are putting in fewer hours to get it. Tell people about the Energy Product hargett. The Energy Project. It is built around meeting the employees needs rather than them. To get more out of meeting therefore core needs, which is renewal physically, feeling valued emotionally, focus mentally, and purpose spiritually. When you meet those four people those four core needs, it is a doubling effect. Increases every single performance indicator. A little goes a long way. If you provide the opportunity to renew, people perform radically better. If you provide the opportunity to renew and you make people feel valued, you appreciate and recognize them, it improves even more. If you meet all four of these needs, you get the biggest improvement of all. In the interest of employees, the self interest of employers, to do this for their employees. Charter is difficult, because the clientele for charter is a narrow end of people. It is not enough to just look at the charter market, because the competition for the few client is very fierce. I would spend endless houses of hours trying to figure out what i could do, what i could offer. It occurred to me that charter clients who convert by one or two airplanes or multiple airplanes do not want to pay five five figures or six figures a month to maintain that a plane just to fly when they want to. This aspect ofd airplane ownership, and no one else does it. Give me the airplane. I take care of all of the bills. They fly for the price of gas and are not otherwise response before for the cost of maintenance. I take the risk. I keep it moving and it is a success and i cover my costs. If i dont charter the airplane, i lose money. Itont know if i thought would do one lane dollars in sales let alone 60 million in sales. And going on 120 million in sales. Million dollars more than i thought i would have. Joining me now for more in the studio, some insight into the private jet industry, talon air chief executive adam katz. Great to have you here. If you think back to the home depot days, we had to continually reinvent ourselves. And again, i think those that are the winners in any sector are those that are technologically advanced. And that is us, first of all. And secondly, the little level of Customer Service that we provide, our pros are so far greater than anyone else in the industry.
