u.s. wreaking havoc along the western united states. greece is battling an inferno, and dozens of wildfires are forcing thousands to evacuate. live from athens, olinda, i understand conditions seem to be getting worse. >> yeah. conditions are very difficult, at the moment. we have strong winds. it's the second day that the -- these winds are -- are coming in. and we understand that they are also changing direction, all the time. which makes the firefighting operations much more difficult. as it stands, over a dozen blazes are very, very close to athens, at the moment. especially, there's a front here in the north suburbs, which is where i am standing. this is the last area that hasn't been evacuated, close to athens. it just seems that, as the fire approaches, more and more areas are being evacuated bringing the fire much closer to the greek capital. one person died yesterday after an electricity post fell on him.
