involvement among taliban and other things. and you also have contradictory messages coming from the taliban confusing and probably also quite frightening for the vast majority of the population. remember they said that women would be allowed to work, that they would be allowed to go to school. now you have the police chief in mazar-i-sharif saying we'll be ruling the same way we did 20 years ago when women did not have those rights. journalists were told that they would be allowed to conduct their work in accordance to sharia law. what does that mean? what is sharia law? sharia law is effectively very open to interpretation. there are very different ways of actually implementing it with the taliban implementing among the most if not the most hardline manifestations of it. and even a taliban that does not rule exactly the same way it did 20 years ago is still a
