Naftali, michael dantonio, the author of the truth about trump. What was it . Never enough. And max booth, the author of the road not taken. Good evening gentlemen. Im going to start with max. Lets talk about the breaking news about this possible summit between Vladimir Putin and the president. Theyve met. This will be their third meeting, but this will be their first summit. They want to focus on syria, yuk rain, and nuclear arms control. What are your thoughts on this potential meeting . My initial thought is that trump has an awful lot opp his plate right now. When you think about it, hes got about half a dozen major crises hes handling right now. Most of them selfcreated. I mean hes got a crisis obviously with mueller and the justice department. Hes got a crisis in iran, crisis with china, crisis with europe, trade war with europe, trade war with canada and mexico. Hes got this big summit coming up with north korea. I would just say cool it at this point. Dont put so much on the president s plate. Well, thats a point you make because you wrote about it today in the washington post. You said, trump is juggling multiple crisis. At the same time that trump is dealing with north korea, he is also trying to cope with these selfinflicted woes. So you point to his legal crisis, the iran crisis, hes going to china. The european crisis, all selfinflicted wounds. What do you mean by that . Hes created these crises. He took over at a time of peace and prosperity, but he acted like we were in the midst of war. I dont think he can stand serenity. He wants to create chaos and uproar because all eyes focus on him. The ratings go up. But hes basically creating needless crises. Hes talking tougher about canada and mexico than he is about north korea. Now to add in a summit with putin and russia relations on top of that, i dont think trump or the white house has the bandwidth to handle this many crises simultaneously. Listen, i dont disagree with max, but i mean if you read the truth about trump, right, or never enough, you know its all about him. He may be creating these selfinflict the crises because he wants people to talk about him. If he does things traditionally, then it wont be discussed. Well, the truth about trump is there is never enough. Right. Never enough attention. Thats a followup plug. Never enough attention. Never enough stuff to break. I mean this is president obamas motto was dont do stupid stuff. This guy just has to do stupid stuff because it draws attention to him. And its an inexhaustible need that he has. You know, its remarkable. He used to keep these binders of clippings behind his desk. And now i fantasize that hes in an ocean of clippings, and hes kind of floating on top of them in the oval office, and he still doesnt have enough. Hes talking about the office at trump tower with all the clippings and the books. Videotapes lined up. Memorabilia. This is all about him, boosting his ego. Yeah. So you can see it. I mean his he doesnt have a good poker face. He really wants this with kim jongun, right . He wants this face to face meeting. Before he could even get to the cameras, he goes, the meeting is back on. Get to the cameras first. You wants to say hes the first one to do it since the 1990s. He lines that idea. Its nixon and china, right . Except nixon knew which direction china was in. But heres the problem here. Heres the real problem. And kennedy had this problem in 1961. Kennedy thought he could deal with khrushchev. He knew what khrushchev wanted, and he couldnt give it to khrushchev. It had to do with berlin. Trump knows what kim jongun wants, which is to hold on to his nukes until hes convinced the United States isnt going to try to overthrow his regime. My question is, is President Trump willing to wait and to build a relationship with north korea . A very unpleasant regime. Is he willing to do that after all hes said about north korea, after all that his base understands about north korea . So thats what im waiting to see. When has he shown patience . For him, it seems hes backed off a little bit. If you looked at his today, a lot of people were not happy about it considering who he met with and what they have done, but he seemed to have backed off a bit pushing he really wants it, you can tell. He backed off from his crazy Unrealistic Expectations he was setting a month ago saying north korea was ready to denuclearize, which is flatout false. Today saying were basically not going to achieve anything. Its just a chance to meet and know each other. Today he was providing this propaganda bonanza, standing with this spy chief, and grinning broadly and holding this letter. I mean, we can just imagine on june 12th hes going to have a similar photoop with kim jongun. You know, this is propaganda gift to north korea. It legitimates north korea, undermines the sanctions regime and theyre not giving up anything in return. So once again were saying hes not the worlds greatest negotiator like he claims. You said in the beginning theyre never going to denuclearize. To tread lightly, im just sort of wondering if this art of the deal if thats working or not working . I dont see much of it. There is no art of the deal. Look at that picture. He looks like one of the kids on willy wonka, he thinks he has the Golden Ticket in there. This is crazy. The idea hes this great negotiator is completely false. Its sort of like hes a victim, he doesnt get enough attention, nobody appreciates him. Nothing he says is true. This idea of being a great negotiator, he got clobbered on the plaza hotel, on trump airways, on the casinos. He doesnt negotiate well. He says it, but to me talking about the art of the deal, he said theres no art of the deal. When he was asked last week about the deal possibly being back on and he said everybody plays games, doesnt everybody . And i shouted at the television, no, everybody does not play games. Go on. Look, the North Koreans said how many times dont talk about libya, dont mention libya. And why . Because libya is story of denuclearization gone wrong for gaddafi. They are afraid of regime change after all. So what happens they set a date and bolton and pence talk about libya. So, my question is, is there enough restraint in this white house that they dont say stupid things between now and june 12th . I dont think they have to say anything now because north korea has gotten what it wants. They have this facetoface with the president of the United States, and now trump is what can i give away to the russians before this syria summit . Didnt he say he didnt want to use the term maximum pressure . What hes saying there is that basically sanctions are collapsing and theyre already collapsing without north korea giving up anything in return. To the point what were hearing here, hes a horrible negotiator. Hes only a great negotiator in his own mind. His great achievement is to sell this line to people, and make people think because he repeats it it must be true. He gets people to believe it. Again he took aim at Comedian Samantha Bee about saying something offensive about his daughter, ivanka trump. David frum wrote the antidote to trump is decency. Trump wants to the bee controversy as an example of civility and restraining from ugly talk is the best answer. Donald trump and his people will violate the decencies of ordinary life no matter what bee or any other hate target of opportunity may say or do. But by violating those decencies herself, bee greatly eased the trump peoples task of obfuscating their own such violations. What do you think . Heres the problem, is that its so easy to be provoked by trump. And the trump team will use any bad language, bad behavior by anyone on the Opposing Side or in the center against them and say, you see, thats the way they all act. Theyre going to take one instance and make it into a thousand. Of course, President Trump will do it a thousand times. So i think davids point is welltaken. The way to deal with trump is to show American Values do not permit the kind of behavior hes exhibiting in the white house. We can agree what samantha bee said was wrong, in poor taste, same thing with Rosie Odonald sorry, Rosie Odonald. My sister texted me did Rosie Odonalds show get canceled . And now its in my head. For me its about so many things for people who reportedly said the same word that samantha called his daughter, how can you expect someone to apologize to you when you nobody needs to apologize to him, but i think trump is right about samantha bee. I dont think it would be crazy for samantha bee to be sanctioned in some serious way because this is descent. Frum is right. We need to be better than. We need to be better than to descend to where trump wants us to go. He said he wanted her fired. But was the lady in the administration who said the horrible thing about john mccain was she fired . Of course not and they havent apologized. I agree with everything everybody is saying. Trumps hypocrisy is endless because he is trashing our public discourse, using horrible language, abusing people, he is bullying. But i also agree you cant just copy him and expect to get away with it. We saw for example during the 2016 campaign when marco rubio got desperate and started talking about hand size and all that kind of stuff, and that was lights out for him. Theres only one person who can play this low game and thats donald trump. And youre not going to win by imitating him. And youre basically playing to this what aboutism. Because who cares about the fact Roseanne Barr is saying these horrible racist things because samantha bee is insulting donald trump. Thats the real story. I would say cool it, samantha bee, dont play into their hands here. One of the strzokkeongest arguments authoritarians can make is everybody does it. And this is bad faith on the white houses part and has been from the beginning. Thank you, robert mark, and he did say horrible things about Rosie Odonald. He called her names. You have a new grandson . I do. Congratulations, what his name . His name is Elliot Michael haynes. Hes 8 pounds and were all thrilled. Hi, elliot. Hi, mom. Congratulations. When we come back cell phone surveillance devices found near the white house. Whos spying and what did they learn . Im going to ask a member of the House Intel Committee eric swalwell. Available in the Natural Sleep section at walmart. So here is the breaking news right now, a possible summit between President Trump and Vladimir Putin. Lets talk about it with congressman eric swalwell, a member of the house intelligence committee. Good evening, sir. Good to see you. You too, don. Lets talk about this wall street journal reporting tonight that the white house has early talks for a potential trumpputin summit thats going to focus on syria, ukraine, nuclear arms control. What do you think . We have to get something out of it, don. We shouldnt take meetings like this just because the president thinks it would be great for us to be friends with russia. Of course it would be great to be friends with everybody in the world. But with an enemy like russia or at least an adversary like russia we should have an objective going into the meeting. And i think being friends with russia only helps us if we can confront them on what they did in our last elections and what they continue to do in syria by supporting bashar assad and the human rights conduct thats leading to the loss of life of people and leading them to confront what theyre doing in ukraine. So i hope we get something out of this other than just donald trump being friends with another authoritarian figure in the world. He has previously said you can only ask putin so many times about meddling you know, russian meddling in the 2016 election. He believes the putin denials of russian interference there. So what do you think the topic will be in the meeting . Do you think theyre going to talk about that in the meeting . Well, i dont think you need to ask putin. I think you need to tell putin we know you did it and were going not going tolerate it again. Theres a price to pay and we have more friends than you do on the world stage and were not going to allow this to happen in elections. I dont care what he thinks. We have the intelligence of our Intelligence Community patriots who can attribute this to putin. Of course there are other important topics to address. We want russias help in addressing the north korea situation, and we want them to be productive rather than to undermine what were trying to do over there. So, yes, of course theres other things we want. Again, don, we have to get something out of this. Otherwise this is more show and sizzle from the president. I want to talk about this new Homeland Security story tonight. Cellphone surveillance devices detected near the white house and other sensitive devices near the white house last year. Cnn and others have reported that President Trump uses his personal cellphone, not a government issued one to talk to his friends and outside advisers. His is potential problem. Big problem, don. But, you know, it doesnt surprise me. The president has actually already invited russian spies into his office. He had that Oval Office Meeting where he Gave National security information to the russians when he kicked out a u. S. Personnel and only allowed a russian photographer and a Russian Ambassador to stay. This is serious issues. There are other countries with similar collection capabilities who would love to have an open operating environment where they could collect information, signals and intelligence around the white house. And i think the president has invited this type of attack because he has done nothing to counter the last attack that occurs. And my republican colleagues in congress, by doing nothing there is a cost. And the cost is that youre going to see an escalation by other adversaries who see this open operating environment. We should be able to unite and say were not going to tolerate this from the russians or anyone else. I want to talk about Rudy Giuliani. Heres what dana bash is reporting about the Rudy Giuliani as trumps lead attorney for the mueller investigation. Dana finds that giuliani is doing exactly what he was brought onto do, and thats to chip away at muellers credibility. Is it working . You know, i believe he has undermined this investigation. And, you know, don, i was a prosecutor. Dont attack the defense attorney. Hes got a job to do. Im more upset with the client and his conduct, and the president has put his own political fortunes ahead of the rule of law and constitutional norms in this country. And knowing hes not going to stand up for it, i really put this squarely at the feet of the Republican Leadership. Trey gowdy said earlier this week theres no evidence to support the president s claims about the fbi investigations being bogus or they put a spy in his ranks. So why cant we hear that from paul ryan, kevin mccarthy, devin nunes. Were not helpless in this, don, and its time we stand up for our country. When we come back President Trump declaring june africanamerican Music Appreciation month. But for a president from doing everything calling out what he calls jayzs filthy language to the socalled good people on both sides on the deadly White Supremacy violence in charlottesville, does this proclamation ring a Little Hollow . Im a small business, but i have. Big dreams. And big plans. So how do i make the efforts of 8 employees. Feel like 50 . How can i share new plans virtually . How can i download an efile . Virtual tours . Zipfile . Really big files . In seconds, not minutes. Just like that. Like everything. The answer is simple. Ill do what ive always done. Dream more, dream faster, and above all. Now, ill dream gig. Now more businesses, in more places, can afford to dream gig. Comcast, building americas largest gigspeed network. President trump following a longstanding washington tradition and marking the start of africanamerican Music Appreciation month, which is interesting coming at the end of this particular week. So i want to bring in now the former editorinchief of ebony magazine, tre johnson a writer with Rolling Stone and asia conners, a director of communications and General Affairs for the Arizona Republican party. Hello to all of you. In a statement the president wrote this, he said our nation is indebted to all the africanamerican artists whose music fills our airways, our homes, lifts our spirits and compels us to think, dance and sing. This proves to us that the sky is the limit. So i want to be the first to tell you happy africanamerican wish you happy africanamerican month. Thank you, ive been waiting. I know, right . What do you think . You know, first of all those writers, right . Hello, who wrote that for the man . Just the empty platitude. I remember before being on and a conservative black person said to me dont speak for all of black america. And i said you know what, im going to go out on a limb. We are over the contradiction, and the way that he plays to us is insulting. So is this supposed to get brownie points . He can take them back. I read the proclamation. He references etta james who probably would have c
