The militia said to be in force around the administration accused of trying to enter it by officials close to the president the and parts of the yemeni army trying to defend the president ial administration. I should point out that the president is not inside. Hes said of to be safe. Let me wind back and tell you how we got to this situation. The Huthi Movement essentially political. Many tribes and militia part of it. Predominantly shia. Theyve been moving fast across the country, claiming ground. Some say with assistance from iran which they deny. Moving across the country and more particularly taking the capital. In the past 4 hours, the president s 48 hours, the president s chief of staff was captured. The group said they were detaining him because they wanted that to be a word of caution to the president to not introduce a new constitution into yemen. In the early hours of this morning, the government concerned in their eyes that they felt further the detentions and kidnappings could follow. They introduced a security plan in the capital that involved closing key roads around the president ial administration and key buildings. One top hushi official saying they went to the military and said you have to reopen roads for the sake of the people in sanaa, you are blocking many of the main streets. Apparently the huthis claimed they were attacked and defended themselves. Thats the story president the president s supporters give. They say they were attacked and theres a movement to move into the president theal administration. And there are dead into the administration. And there are dead as a result. He started this as a material, its been a long escalating crisis for weeks. Were hearing from the Administration Minister saying she appeals for International Intervention to calm this down. Theres a third concern, too. While they do appear to be faltering or grasps at mediation between the government and huthis theres a third Party Tropical the former party. Theres concerns they may step in or swing the balance of power. Effectively it seems this morning that power in yemen is being decided on the streets.
