There are just a few hundred people here. Imagine the impact of just the numbers. Everybody knew somebody very intimately. Last night we saw a candlelight vigil. Just about everybody is affected by this. What do we do . What does it mean . Those are the familiar questions and theyre just as frustrating this morning as ever. Sources tell cnn this murderer was a veteran of the u. S. Air force. Hed been Court Martialed five years ago for assaulting his wife and child but somehow he was still able to get a weapon. Investigators say they dont know a motive. The president weighed in saying the man to him sizes up as somebody deranged who had Mental Health problems. He said this situation is not about gun laws. We have all the different aspects covered. Lets begin with cnns ed lavandera, who has taken us through the facts as you understand them. Youve been raising one troubling question. This guy is not from here. Why would he come to a place so small and discrete. Investigators are on that. The investigators dont fully understand what brought this gunman to this particular church in this location. He lives about 40 miles away in the town of new braunfels. Why would he drive all wait here and attack this particular church. Cnn is learning more about the man who opened fire killing people at this small Baptist Church. The suspected killer is 26yearold devyn patrick kelley, who once served in the u. S. Air force. He served a year in prison for assaulting his wife and child. He was discharged from the air force for bad conduct. Police say the suspect began his rampage around 11 30 a. M. Sunday morning, dressed in all black Tactical Gear and a ballistic vest, he began firing from outside the church during sundays service. He then entered the church and continued his assault, killing dozens. This video taken last sunday shows just how small the congregation is. The pastors own 14yearold daughter, Annabelle Pomeroy is among the dead. Employees at a nearby store recall hearing shots ring outs. This was rapid fire. We were flabbergasted. Reporter were told that kelley legally purchased the ruger used in the attack in 2016. When filling out paperwork for his background check, he indicated he didnt have any disqualifying criminal history. Police say a local gunman confronted the gunman at the church. As he exited the church, a local resident grabbed his rifle and engaged the suspect. The suspect fled the scene. He was pursued for several miles at high speeds. The gentleman came to my truck as shooter took off and he briefed me quickly on what had just happened and said we had to get him so thats what i did. Johnny langendorf said he crashed his vehicle, where police found him dead inside the car with a gunshot wound. President spoke at a conference with the japanese Prime Minister. This isnt a guns situation. This is a Mental Health problem at the highest level. Now this small, tightknit Community Comes together to remember those killed and hurt in sundays carnage. Theres so much love for one another. Theres no room for hate. Reporter and just before midnight last night, we witnessed a family walking across the street away from the church. They were distraught. We approached them and asked them what they were struggling with and dealing with. They said their daughter was missing, that they had not heard about her nearly 12 hours after that. The emotion in their face, chris, really speaks to what so many of these families are dealing with this morning. Were with a member of the community right now. We have Kathleen Curnow here with her husband. She and her husband live right across the street from the church. They heard the gunshotgunshots. Some of them made it to your property. Correct. How are you doing it. It was a rough week. Were not making it any easier for you, theres so much light and sound going on here. Youve got the chapel right across the street. You heard the gunshot. We did. There were approximately four to five shots. I looked at my husband and said, really . Fireworks . Its sunday. He turn and looked immediately behind him out the window and said theres a shooter at the church. So i called 911. Hes calling out license plate and were telling them whats going on. What did he see, your husband . He saw the shooter walking up to the church and shooting the outside. The church has kind of an l shape. He walk around and down the l, came back to the vehicle, started to reload or thats what it appeared, gathering things out of his vehicle and went back up to the church. I want back, i was trying to pull my husband away and he was like i have to do this, have i to do this and so i saw that and i had to turn away. I couldnt watch it. And thats when he saw the gunman go back into the church and at that point, shots and everything just picked up and it was horrifying. Where did your husband go . What did he do . He stayed there at the window. I gave him binoculars and said these will help you. I called my friend and i heard the shots closer and louder, not as close to thgether. I went running back to the house thinking he got shot. It was at that point i realized that one of my neighbors was there and there was an embassy change, both of our vehicles got hit, the house got hit and my neighbor in my opinion, hes stopped this. This would have been a lot worse. I dont know how you could look at it any other way. I mean, by all accounts of people who have seen what happened and by his own to Law Enforcement, from what were told, the murderer came back outside for some reason and thats when they engaged and the reporting is that the gunman wound up dropping his weapon, got in a vehicle to flee and then other people saw him fleeing and chased him down until he eventually went off the road and they dont know if he died from being hit by them on taking himself out. But if not for your neighbor, who know what is would have happened. I know one of my names took out his window and i and we didnt want anyone to see that. Were trying to pull people away and get them away from the church until Law Enforcement could get to the scene. Did you ever imagine what happened in that church and how many people could you know . I knew it was bad. My sister lives here. She woshs for the school district. Ive raised my kids in that house. I know a lot of people and a lot of people by association. Many of them were friends of my niece, who also went to church there many years ago and its this is two and three generations of two or three families are not with us anymore. One family lost eight. We heard about a mother who was killed there with some of her kids. There was only one of them that wasnt there. The one that wasnt there, the First Responder brought her out and she hid. They brought her to me and said immediately after we dont know, can you just hold her for a minute . She had a bump on her head, was covered in blood and i just tried to get her calm and, you know, clean her up. There was another bystander that was going to the church and caught a ricochet bullet from some of the gunfire. He had a small cut on his ankle. We were kind of staging it that if people come out on their own or were brought out, and they were okay, luckily one of the little girl ears family members was still alive. Her aunt was on her way to the church as well. So we were able to stop and accidentally get the family together. But i will never forget those shots, that noise is not ive been raised around guns all my life. I will never forget how that sounded. About 400, 500 people live here . Whats your guess . 600 is on a good day. They had a Dollar General open down the street. How did we get that . But it matters in terms of, looks are no matter where this happens, its terrible in terms of its impact beyond those even directly affected but here theres not going to be anybody who didnt know somebody who is not going to make it out of the service. This route 539, its one of two roads that connects floresville. It connects the school districts. Every other car, hey, how you doing . Hey, how you doing . We know everybody. When somethings not right, we just come to the and try to figure it out. But its very we saw last night but thats going to be the strength now is that you do know each other, you do care about each other in a way that just goes beyond a name and a face. Its all family here now. It is. It is. We do girl scout fundraiser, my daughters in girl scouts at the church. The pastors kids would come over and invite me to the fall festival. Did you know his 14yearold . Not very well. I had met her several times during the course of the year. They were very respectful with their ministry. Do you have a minute for the word of god . You know, im really busy, if can you come back. Sure, no problem. If there was a problem at the church when the church was closed, the entire community has their cell phone number, right down no my fedex packages ended up in the church and vice versa. I just cant imagine what mr. Pomeroy and his family is going through right now. Thank you for telling us what makes this place special. It wont be defined by this one day but how they come through it together. The best to you and your husband. As kathleen has had to live through and what weve been through together, in the last five weeks, weve seen two mass shootings, vegas and texas. And in between them, we have a terror attack that was the de deadliest since 9 11. 500 hurt piby a violence that scenes increasingly common to our culture. Gentlemen, im relying on you in the worst of circumstances to help us understand what it means to investigators and how we move forward. James, motive. We never got word on it out of vegas. Theyre looking about it here. They do see a couple of unique characteristics about this man and how it will play into the investigation. Tee them up for us. Sure. People ask why in the wake of these senle lesenseliey sens tragedies is that so important . Did anyone meet with the killer, give him aide . The second thing that is a stark point is inconsistency. How is you can have a prohibition on somebody who has a felony conviction from being able to purchase a weapon and even people with a misdemeanor . The subject did not have a felony discharge, it was either a general or special Court Martial but he got a bad conduct discharge. That does not preclude you from buying a weapon legally in this country. Thats the inconsistently. How in the legislative process have we not been able to marry up the uniforeign there are a list of items that preclude people from being able to purchase a handgun and from what we can tell right now, nothing precluded the gunman from being able to get his hand on that ruger a. R. Rifle. They have a unique piece of evidence that theyre going to be referring to here. We know this church had a tendency to put its services on youtube. Is that helpful or just a reminder of one of the worst scenes in your life . I think it is helpful. If youre investigating this, youve got to look at things like what was in his apartment or home, did he have a laptop that showed he was looking at that Youtube Video . What was he searching . What was his Google Search record . The problem in these cases, the same problem as in las vegas, if this individual is operating based on something going on inside his head, if hes not showing any exterior characteristics that suggests hes going to commit this act, one important who doesnt make a mistake, its hard to figure out how this changes so they decide killing dozens of people is appropriate. That takes us into way bigger concerns that well take care of in this interview today. There are cultural questions that just matter that, we avoid or we just dont have good answers to. One of the things that winds up being prickley here is how we define it. People say, well, when the brown guy did it in new york city, its terror, but when the white guy does it, its not. People misunderstand, i think, the legally the contextual relationship between the word terrorism and investigations. Ive asked you before and im asking you now, what does it take to be terrorism by investigators . If hes protesting say u. S. Engagement in iraq and syria, protesting racial issues in the United States which is political, thats terrorism. If hes simply angry with something in his life, thats not terrorism, thats insanity. You guys are focused on why its done and how can you make that manifest in terms of agenda. James, let me bounce it back to you for a final point. Youre the professor on the panel. This is happening more. When you look at the list of these, yes, theyre a small, small percentage of overall gun violence but theyre happening more and the most deadly ones in modern history have happened over the last decade . Do you believe that is an existence or do you believe there is a trend that we have to examine . Chris, if you look at this statistically, we look at august 1st, 19 66, the Charles Whitman clock tower shooting where i believe 15 people died from the texas clock tower shooter. We look at that from a Law Enforcement perspective as a first of the active shooter situations. And then go back eight years ago, november 5th, eight years to the day you had the fort hood shooting. Roughly the equivalent of what the gunman was able to do with the ruger. Does it appear its happening more often . Sure it does. Is there more coverage of it . Are we aware of it . Absolutely. You get an evil, dree parade he spent a year in the is there a creed or manifesto that were going to find on facebook or inside his domicile . Hopefully well get some answers soon because we dont have any right now. Coming up soon, greg abbott, the Texas Governor will be here. What does he see his job going in order . Well get back to you shortly. President trump said hes monitoring the Texas Church Massacre while hes on his fivenation asia trip. So this morning were reporting on another mass shooting. In just five weeks, three attacks have claimed the lives of dozens of innocent people. Will congress do anything about this . In the past five weeks, three acts of mass murder have shaken america leading 58 dead and many injuries. Thanks for here here, senator. Thanks for having me on. Has congress decided this is the cost of living in the United States with 270 million guns on the street . I dont know. I do think that in this case, i think what will come to light is we need better information sharing, if nothing else, in terms of criminal convictions or background check issues. We dont have a good system now. We dont share information like we should between local and federal agencies. This guy did a year in jail for assault of his wife and child. He was kicked out of military service as a result. How could this guy get a gun . I mean, well be exploring that im sure. I come from a small town. I went to a Church Service yesterday. To think that Something Like this could happen where i grew up this could happen anywhere. Look at charleston. Look at what happened to you. You were playing baseball in virginia in the morning with your colleagues and a gunman opened fire. I mean, do you have a feeling of enough is enough . Certainly, yes. Theres no way you can experience Something Like that and see bullets appropriating right in front of you and not figure, you know, what can we do . Weve got to do something more. But why doesnt it seem congress has ever done anything . What happens happening with bump stocks, for instance . Its not just congress. We have to have a change of behavior. This person on the baseball field had a legally possessed weapon and wouldnt show up on anything. Sometimes there are things that matter in terms what congress does. Sometimes its more of a cultural issue and a matter of discourse in how we treat each other. Having been a victim of it now yourself, what do you think is the solution . What can happen today . I dont think theres any one solution. What could help . One thing on bump stocks, yes. If atf does not ban bump stocks or mechanical devices, then congress ought to act. Why isnt Congress Acting . Its been 35 days. Lets do something. Waiting for agencies to do it on their own. If they dont act, then congress will. Whats the time frame on that . Well see, well see. It seems like we never take action. Itses a lot easier for the agencies to act on this. Well see if they do. Within the next month . I would think thats enough time for the agencies to come back and do this. I dont know, senator, it just feels so hopeless. After every one of these, we all say, well, maybe theres nothing we can do, i dont know, we have to change attitudes. Do you think think this is a Mental Health issue, as the president said . I think thats part of it. Its a big part of it. Ive introduced legislation to have better sharing on information between agencies. Do you think there is any element of this that is guns issue . We dont know enough yet. We dont know enough he had a semiautomatic weapon, he had done time for assault. Is that okay . Well, we dont know how he got the weapon, if that came up o or should have come up. I think it should come up. And can you do something about that . When we find out more information but were less than 24 hours in. I want to find out more information before i say definitively. But ive felt for a long time that Congress Needs to act in terms of background checks and Mental Health issues. Ive never felt that anybody who is on a nofly list should able to get a gun. There are some things we can do. The president is in asia trying to deal with what to do about north korea. Let me play for you what he has said just today at the press conference about the era of strategic patience being over. Watch this. The era of strategic patience is over. Some people said that my rhetoric is very strong, but look whats happened with very weak rhetoric over the last 25 years. Look where we are right now. Are you comfortable with the president s rhetoric about this . I wish hed tone it down. I dont think we gain anything by coming up with a nickname for rogue leaders. But hes right, raek rhetoric and other things havent changed the trajectory of where north korea is. I dont think that just strong rhetoric is going to change it either. Its going to be diplomacy and working with our allies in the region. You write volatile vulnerability is not an issue. We have quite enough actors internationally as it is without becoming one of them. What were you referring to . Im referring to his behavior internation internationally. It doesnt do much for our overall position. Theres the old madman theyry where you have some strategic benefit if your vad ver sayur a dont know what you will do. That can be true if you have an underlying strategy but i dont think we have an underlying strategy. You have an oped in the New York Times about outpouring of comments from regular people coming up to you. What have they been saying . Weve gotten thousands of letters and phone calls, im stopped in the airport, on the street, in the Grocery Store by people saying thank you for voicing what ive been feeling. I had no idea it would strike such a cord, the speech i gave on the senate floor. A lot of people are concerned about where were going, particularly the type of politics weve entered into, the vitriol that we now see daily, the behavior that the weekend has, incumbented saying the fbi should go after the president s political adversaries. To have a president say that, that is not normal and we shouldnt accept it as normal and that is the point of the speech. Do you think any of your republican colleagues will speak out over this . I few half and more will, yes. Lets get to chris in texas. Its interesting the senator talks about what we accept at normal. That takes us to where were stand being right now. This texas town is in shock after the latest mass murder in america. Investigators are trying to figure out why the shooter came to such a small place where he is not from and how did he die . Well object to a local official about the latest next. Oh my gosh how are you . Well watch this. I pop that in there. Press brew. Thats it. So rich. I love it. Thats why you should be a keurig man fullbodied. Are you sure youre describing the coffee and not me . Fullbodied. If you spit blood you may have gum problems,s and could be on the journey to much worse. Try parodontax toothpaste. Its clinically proven to remove plaque, the main cause of bleeding gums. For healthy gums and strong teeth. Leave bleeding gums behind with parodontax toothpaste. We are here in sutherland springs, texas. Its a small town and right now it is all about pain. This is the site of the latest mass shooting in america. Weve never seen death in a church like this before from a gunman. 26 people lost their lives, as young as 5 years of age. 20 more people at least injured. Another militarystyle rifle used to create as much death as possible. The man, somewhat of a mystery. We know he was a veteran of the u. S. Air force. He had been Court Martialed, spent time in the brig for assaulted his wife and child. Why did he do this . Hes not from here. They dont know. But the sheriff now says that the gunman did take his own life. How he arrived at that point, though, is a huge part of the story. We want to tu we wa we want to talk about how it ended the way it did. Commission wilfred gamez jr. , thank you for joining us. Its the hardest kind of job to have. We do know that a neighbor intercepted this murderer as he exited the church. There was an exchange of fire. It led to a car chase where other citizens were pursuing this man. He then went off the road, wound up dead in the car. What do you believe now about how he died . I think that the one that exchanged the gunfire with him, i think he saved more lives. It could have been a lot worse. I think that he did on my part, i think what he did, it was a hero thing. I mean, down the road, i dont know what really happened, if he just decided to lose control of that vehicle and shot himself or thats something i guess is still investigating. Obviously his life ending is the least of the concern here. Its about the victims. This is such a Small Community to have so much death fall on his shoulders. Its unimaginable. You knew somebody there and you knew them well. Can you tell us about that . Its a wellknown, good employees and everything. Right now what were going to try and see if we can go out and try to help him out and do whatever we can do. Just stay there and confirm, comfort on how we feel and everything. Prayers is what theyre going to need right now. Everybody is sad and shocked. I mean, theres even know words, i mean, why did it happen there. I see it on the news every day, massacres here and there. You never think that its going to fall here in this Small Community, like the way it happened and it did. Its a shock. Eig its a real shock. The pastor, pomeroy, of this church, he lost his 14yearold daughter. We keep hearing beautiful things about him and his family and how they conduct their ministry. Did you know of him . Do you know of him . Yes, i met him a couple of times but i dont know him that well. But i know he was a great minister of that church and everybody loved him and everything. All right. I dont mean to speak about him in the past tense. Were showing his daughter right now and just the pain for him and his whole congregation is like his family and to have so many of them affected here. How does the community move forward . Weve never seen anything like this, commissioner, where you have this 40plus people affected by this, really 50 people at least. And in a population, thats almost 10 of the direct population affected, let alone, family, friends, loved ones. How do you get through this . I dont know. We just have to see where this lead us and try not to have fear on this. I think thats the most thing right now that people are fearing and shocked. They say, well, it never can happen down here. Well, now we know it can happen anywhere. I mean, its devastating to see all this. Its going to it is going to have to pull all the community to the to make it go forward. Well, commissioner, we wish you well Going Forward and thank you for spending the time with us today. Im sorry for your loss. Thank you. Thank you, sir. Lets go back to alisyn. I think this is the 20th one of these that weve covered, and all over the country, different types of communities, usually some unique circumstances in each one, but the same questions, time and time again. And people need to remember the people who are the most hungry for answers about how to stop this, how to avoid it the next time, its not the media and its certainly not the politicians, its the victims families. They are the ones so desperate in their need to not have other families suffer the way they did. Of course they are, chris. Yet you hear in other peoples voices resignation, a face fata a sort of hopelessness of, well, here we are again. Everyone is just waiting to somebody to take some action. Well be talking to lawmakers about that throughout the die. Former president george h. W. Bush and george bush taking on President Trump in their strongest terms yet. The author of a revealing interview with the former president s joins us next. Ah, dinner. Throughout history, the one meal when we come together, break bread, share our day and connect as a family. [ bloop, clicking ] and connect, as a family. Just, uh one second voice guy. [ bloop ] huh . Hey . I paused it. Bam, family time. So how is everyone . Find your awesome with xfinity xfi and change the way you wifi. Both former president s, bush 41 and 43, are taking on President Trump in their strongest terms yet. George h. W. Bush calls donald trump, quote, a blowhard, while george w. Bush says mr. Trump does not understand the job of president. These comments come in a new book, the last republicans. The author of that book, mark uptergrop joins me now. Just to read for everybody exactly what the former bush president s have said, we have the first one from george h. W. Bush, that i want to read. It says here, his quote is, i dont like him. I dont know much about him, but i know hes a blowhard. And im not too excited about him being our leader. And then his son, bush 43 says, well, this guy really doesnt understand the job of president. Did you have to prod them to say these things in the book . How did this come up, where they felt compelled to talk about President Trump. Well, i want to make clear, they werent talking about President Trump, they were talking about candidate trump. Oh, so this was before this was in 2016. Before the election. That is a critical point. Its a significant point, because i dont think they would say it now. They certainly wouldnt. They respect the dignity of the office and would never do that to the office of the presidency. Im glad that youre saying that. I, too, thought it was out of character. These are not gentlemen who seek out the limelight or who publicly insult anyone, really. So they were sharing this when they didnt think that he was going to become president. Yeah, thats right. But well, i cant say that they didnt think that he would become president. I surmised that, like you and me, and most americans, they didnt think that the election would go the way it did. But i think there was concern on both of their parts that donald trump had strayed discernibly and decidedly from the principles that they upheld at republicans. And have you spoken to them and do you believe that they feel that it is their sort of obligation to speak out now about some of the things they disagree with . They have spoken out, but in very subtle, in indirect terms. I think we can infer what they feel about the president by the statements that, in particular, bush 43 has made. But i dont think he would ever take on the president directly. Again, they respect the dignity of the office, even if they dont appreciate or respect what the president is doing. It seemed, from where i sat, that their kind of personal breaking point, or at least a pivot point for them, was charlottesville. And everything that happened in charlottesville, where the White Supremacists were marching and then President Trump said, well, there are good people on both sides of the this. And he didnt want to take a stance against the White Supremacists. Do you have a sense of how the pushes reacted to that . We do. We all have a sense, because for the first time, they joint tweeted a message, condemning the pi the bigotry and antisemitism that we saw charlottesville. And i infer from that that they were taking a stand because the president didnt. We werent seeing moral leadership from our president. And that was desperately needed at that time. And that was probably a low for any modern presidency, by not taking an unambiguous stand against bigotry, against antisemitism, all the things that those White Supremacists represented in charlottesville. Right. So this then brings up the question of where the Republican Party is. Whether or not they are divided. Whether or not the bushes represent sort of the establishment and the old guard and that President Trump represents the sort of new feeling in the Republican Party. Heres what the white house has said in response to these comments that you captured in your book. If one president ial candidate can disassemble a political party, it speaks volumes about how strong a legacy its past two president s really had. And that begins with the iraq war, one of the greatest Foreign Policy mistakes in american history. President trump remains focused on keep asing his promise to th american people, by bringing back jobs, promoting an America First Foreign Policy, and standing up for the forgotten men and women of our great country. Whats your response from that . This is a typical response from the trump white house. You get punched and punch back as ten times as hard. President trump said that about terrorism when he left for asia on friday. So its no surprise. This is a very pugnacius, very belligerent president. And he takes on anybody who gets in his way. And in some ways, he has yet to rise to the dignity of the office. And part of it is figuring out what battles to fight. Here are the latest polling. Its just interesting to see where the bush presidencies were and other republicans were at this time, versus where President Trump is. As you can see, President Trumps Approval Rating is the lowe esest in modern history. You have to go really far back to get a 37 Approval Rating. And as you can see, george w. Bush, had 89 . Obviously, september 11th had happened. So did you come weak aftaway af speaking to them with any future thoughts for the Republican Party . I think thats up to the Republican Party. Right now you can see a battle for the soul of the Republican Party emerging. Is it just about donald trump and what donald trump this is on any given day or is there an overriding ideology that republicans will adhere to . Thats something we have to see. The book again is called the last republicans, out next week. Out next week. Mark updegrove, thank you so much for joining us with a preview of it. So talking tough, President Trump with more harsh words for north korea. How will kim jongun respond . We have a live report from inside north korea, next. D arth. Because there are options. A National Weather service team today is looking into whether a tornado caused this damage in ohio. Look at your screen, injuring at least eight people. Cnn meteorologist Allison Chinchar joins us now with more. It sure looks like a tornado touched down. It does. But you have to be careful with that. Because sometimes Straight Line winds can cause some of that damage. And we had a lot of wind reports yesterday, in addition to tornado. We had eight total tornado reports yesterday, and over 75 wind reports. Now, that system will be making its way from the midwest to the northeast, as we go through the day. Your forecast is brought to you by temper needipedic, sleep is. So that front will slowly push off to the east. Folks in the northeast, especially interior new england, are going to be dealing with those showers, not just this morning, but through the afternoon. The good news is, for folks in the northeast, its going to move through pretty quick. Its the southeast, where a lot of those showers are going to linger for several days. Now, the good news is, alisyn, the Severe Threat is much lower today than it has been in the last couple of days. Thats going to be good. Meanwhile, with President Trump is repeating his declaration that the era of strategic patience is over when it comes to north korea. Cnns will ripley is back in pyongyang, north korea. This is his 17th strip to the reclusive nation and will spoke with north korean officials today. Will, its great to have you on the ground there. Tell us what theyre saying. Reporter hi, alisyn. We just landed and had a meeting with two north korean officials who told me this country is watching very closely what President Trump is doing and saying on his asia visit. Of course, hes about to leave japan and head to south korea, a very sensitive location, especially for people here in the north. President trump will be standing and speaking just miles from where i am here in the north korean capital. And they have warned the president not to say or do anything crazy, in their words. They say north korea will respond powerfully to any provocative words or actions by the president. Of course, theyr well aware there are three aircraft carriers off the peninsula. They view that as the United States preparing for a possible war. And they say war could be ignited at any moment. We hear a phrase over and over again repeated that this is a touchandgo situation that could explode at any moment. But its interesting, here in pyongyang, one of the lead stories over the weekend was north koreas leader, kim jongun, visiting a cosmetics factory. And in fact, youve seen a lot of field inspections by kim jongun, as of late. It might seem strange for an outside audience that north korean media is focusing on these things. But for people inside this country, its reassuring for them that their leader is still focusing on the economy. Its been more than seven weeks since a military live fire test, which south korean intelligence believes could happen very soon. Alisyn . Okay, will, thank you very much for the update from pyongyang. So were following a lot of news this morning. Lets get right to it. All right. But this was at a church, a Baptist Church during services. The youngest victim, 5. The oldest, 72. Among the dead, the 14yearold daughter of the churchs pastor. Eight people from a Single Family are gone. The toll of pain here cannot be estimated. Think about it. Just by the numbers, you have over 10 of the entire community has been affected directly by this. Thats before you get to family members, loved ones, and this is a place where Everybody Knows everyone else. And we saw that pain on display last night, a candlelight display. Pa people are out here, theyre holding on to each other and theyre holding on to their faith. Were also getting some new details about the investigation. For that, lets bring in ed lavendera. Theres been a lot of speculation about moetive. Youve got big new information on that. This gunman lives in the town of new braunfels, which is about 40 miles away. Which begs the question, why would this man drive 40 miles and pick this particular church, kind of here, s
