Former governor of ohio john kasich now says the president should be impeached. This is after Mick Mulvaneys comments about a quid pro quo with ukraine. And this comes after pat rooney said he would not vote out impeaching the president. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell now believes an impeachment inquiry trial is inevitable. Aits said the president s personal attorney jug went around and got a visa. Kristen, good morning to you. Is he feels this loss of support . Any indication of that . Thats a good question. He would be hardpressed not at to notice it. I want to break this down. This is not all about impeachment. Theres a lot of stuff going on here, so be patient with me, but we are starting to see a few cracks in support for the president for the first time. We know that the Republican Base has really rallied around trump. I want to be clear, he still has a staunch Republican Base, but, again about, some cracks in the system. He needs to be trance parnt. Is he making any money . Will he let foreign leaders stay for free . Theres a clear indication he could profit from it. Its been hard for democrats to defend that. The other issue is withdrawal of troops from syria. This has been going on. Weve seen lindsey graham, one of President Trumps biggest supporters really turn on him, saying what hes done is wrong, that hes causing massive bloodshed. I heard from senator kennedy friends dont let friends get massacre and we heard on an oped how it was a bad idea to withdraw troops from syria. President trump was never mentioned one time, so even though he was clearly condemning that action, he did not specifically call out the president. But the last thing here is about impeachment, it is about ukraine, and it is about giuliani. We saw so many people testifying on capitol hill, and its becoming harder and harder for the lawmakers to defend giuliani at all. One senator said he should come with a warning label. Theres a lot of concern around his involvement in the ukraine. And then you have the other side of this, which is Mick Mulvaney, the acting chief of staff getting up in front of cameras and reporters saying, in fact, they did want ukraine to get information on democrats and that was a factor in holding back millions of dollars in aid from that country. This raised, again, a lot of antennae. This goes against everything the white house has been saying, everything President Trump has been saying and what reporters said to mulvaney, youre describing a quid pro quo here. He said, well, get over it. We do it all the time in foreign policy. So youre hearing republicans push back on that as well. But this is a big week coming up. We have more testimony to come, and it just looks like it might get worse and worse for President Trump, particularly, again, when it comes to cracks in the base. And just quickly, you know, what has the white house said about Mick Mulvaney and President Trumps support for him after the stunning admission and then a quick denial and also you have Mick Mulvaney who is away at camp david meeting with gop leaders . What was the point of that . I think we can be sure that will come up, his comments. Again, two reporters on camera talking about that quid pro quo. I want to be clear he sent a statement after that saying there was absolutely no quid pro quo, trying to have a cleanup on aisle five there. But those statements were made on camera. Were learning President Trump was not happy with his performance and he certainly was not happy with the reviews, with the coverage it was getting on the news. We know hes constantly watching to see if it gets that kind of coverage. There was a bit of a crack. Then giuliani carried out some secret interviews with shokin via skype, and those interviews form the basis of a number of records that had dirt on not just the bidens but also Marie Yovanovitch, the former u. N. Ambassador to ukraine. A lot of these unsubstantiated, but nevertheless giuliani took the records to the state department and asked them to investigate. Later they were turned over to the Inspector General who turned it over to capitol hill to further investigate this matter. Now, shokin has accused Marie Yovanovitch of being too close to joe biden, which is one of the reasons he was seeking her remoorchl from the post.
