Prosecuted. Because of the rigged system they probably will not be. Just like we found out about itse paid violent protesters was probably the dnc and the Clinton Campaign that put forward these liars with their fabricated stories. We will find out about their involvement at a later date through litigation and i look so over to doing that. The raking of the system is , to keepfor one reason the corrupt establishment and special interest in power at your expense and everybodys expense. I have no special interest but you. The american voter. Donald trump at his running mate might hence will be speaking at a rally in cleveland at seven 00 eastern time. We will have that for you live here on cspan. Inverage continues his pittsburgh. Hillary clinton is to appear with her running mate. This rally should be Getting Started in a you moments live on these bad. On cspan. We are live in pittsburgh for a hillary Clinton Campaign rally. She is appearing there this. Fternoon with her running mate while we wait for it to get started a portion of todays washington journal on the substance of recent wikileaks emails. They are here to talk about the latest Wikileaks Revelations and what some describe as a weaponization of wikileaks in campaign 2016. These leaks. Bout where are they coming from . Guest these are emails that have been allegedly stolen from Clinton Campaign chairman John Podestas email account. This is probably the work of russian intelligence. That has not been confirmed yet. It came out and was here in of the dncfact emails was the work of the russian government but not have said it was the same here necessarily. This is likely the same group, we are still somewhat cautious in making that attribution. Host what is wikileaks . Would they be interested interested in John Podestas email . Guest they are an antitransparency lot form. They believe in exposing power and corruption by producing mass trials of documents. It is an interesting organization. This is like talking about its founder, julian assange. Guy who is holed up at the Ecuadorian Embassy avoiding a rape charge. He has an ax to grind against hillary button. He has gotten quite a bit of criticism about how he managed to leaks over the years to there that he is happy to publish anything that fits his agenda or promotes his stature in the world. Who else have they targeted . Throughout this cycle we have seen them release the emails that were stolen from the dnc as well. One of the things you have heard critics say is this is somebody who is explicitly targeting democrats and the Clinton Campaign. Was seen as damaging to clinton. Host we are kidding talking to Katie O Williams about the latest batch of wikileaks emails that have been released over the last few weeks. You can join the discussion. Lets take a look at some of the things that wikileaks has released according to a russian the organization, has taken best of. Those involved her wall street speaking spirit a january 2016 email says she relationshipeat with thinkers any 2013 speech. She spoke of how more thought has to be given to the process of transactions and regulations so that we do not kill them or mame what work spirit we concentrate on the most effective way of moving forward with the brainpower and the most financial power that exist on wall street. Many of these emails involve some of the speeches she has given to wall street bankers. How big of a impact is this . Thing is thatst the content of the emails have not been confirmed. The Clinton Campaign has been very explicit that we are not going to comment on the stolen material. While these are being treated as accurate, given that the Clinton Campaign has not said, no nobody has said this, it is an important distinction to remember anything in this document. Regards to the content about wall street, that was one revelations from the documents that there were partial transcripts from her speeches to wall street that had been a big issue in the primary. There are some strategist that are saying this may have been more damaging had it come out in the primary, because it does appear to portray her as a little bit cozy with wall street , under some interpretations. Big things of the that sanders supporters were hitting her on early. Calling froms taught, North Carolina on the independent line. You are on with katie of the hill. Kind of discussion is there on the hill about using social media platforms to dictate to the representatives to the United States citizens desirous . Thise been trying to get conversation going for four years, along with using debit cards to track immigration, and make that a secure system. Is airheaded boom, can you elaborate on that . You are talking about wikileaks as a social media platform, i am not 100 sure that is an entirely accurate way of describing them. They are in operation that is run largely by a single guy. Julian assange will say he has hundreds of employees, or volunteers that are helping him thatminate these documents they are publishing, but if you talk to former employees, a largely sounds like it is a oneman shop. They do have a huge, huge social media following with, what i would say, are pretty active supporters that spend time defending the integrity of the organization. Politicallytalk about what these Wikileaks Revelations are having, the political impact. Florida senator, marco rubio who is running for reelection said, he told bbc news that republicans abc news that republicans are jumping on allegedly hacked emails released by wikileaks. He said he himself will not talk about them and urges republicans to follow suit. He said as our intelligent agencies have said, these leaks are in an effort to interfere with our electoral process and i will not indulge it. He said i want to warn my for the republicans who may want to capitalize politically on these leaks. Today it is the democrats, tomorrow it could be us. How potentially troublesome is it for those who are using these revelations . Guest that was a big deal of marco rubio coming out and it echoing the Clinton Campaign line. I think what you are seeing is a hardening of republican attitudes towards wikileaks. The biggest debate in washington is how to we talk about wikileaks . Do we talk about them like a journalistic outlet that is putting out content that is fair game to have any political discussion, or do we talk about them as a bullhorn for the russian government . And as the work of a single guy who has an ax. There is a lot of dispute about whether or not this is a true journalistic outlet, or whether or not this is an attempt by the russian government to interfere in the u. S. Election. Jean, you are on. Hello, i am a little confused. Gotdemocrats seem to have in the last refuge of the defense, which is the root the russians are trying to influence our election by publishing the emails. Looking out within them, it seems like their principal offense is basically exposing how the democrats and the press are conspiring to steal it. There is a of concern. I think from quite a few that the content of these emails themselves are not getting enough attention. A coupleou are seeing of Different Things happen here. Going onart of what is is, even though the content of these emails are being reported , the republican candidate himself has not really grabbed a hold of the individual allegations in these emails, and raise them to the level of a campaign issue. There is also some question about what interfere and the election actually means. When the u. S. Intelligence committee came out and said the dnc act is an attempt to interfere in the election, bid and offer any more details. They sort of left that open to interpretation. That does not. [laughter] [applause] there aint no mountain hyannis high enough. Aint no valley low enough. Aint no river wide enough to keep me from getting to you baby. Rain. Wind, no baby. Stop me just send for me oh baby. My love is alive deep down in my heart. Although we are miles apart. Senator kaine hillary, this energy must be a pittsburgh thing. Hillary and i are so glad to be with you this afternoon. We came right out of that Great Convention in philadelphia, and thea huge rally here at beginning of august. It is so great to be back together with 17 days to go to a wonderful victory. [applause] we are not taking anything for granted in the next 17 days. One of the things we want to do is ask for volunteers. Who is already volunteering . [applause] if you are not volunteering yet, and you have a lot of free time in the next 17 days, there are full going to row clipboards. You can sign up and text and they will bring you on board as we make history by electing Hillary Clinton as our president. [applause] hey, can i just ask how fantastic was hillary in the last debate . [applause] you are right, not just the last debate, all three debates. [applause] trump hadine donald been talking a lot about stamina, but boy, at the end of those debates, he really looked like he was on the ropes and hillary looks like she would have said yes if they said to do five more debate spirit she would have said, i am ready to go right now. [applause] when the debates finished, hillary was excited to get out and keep talking about her plans and vision for this country. Donald could not get wait to get back and tweak out more insults. [laughter] debateskaine those showed so much. They showed hillarys preparation and her experience and judgment. [applause] senator kaine i think what they really showed was the temperament, compassion, grace and poise that we want to see and our next president. [applause] senator kaine in fact, i think if you had even watched those debates with the sound off, you still would have known that there is only one person on this stage that we want to be president of the United States. [applause] you guys all know that pennsylvania does not vote until election day, but i want to tell you this. In states where early voting has already begun, we are already seeing huge spikes at the polls and activity behind our ticket. [applause] senator kaine support for the kaine ticket is surging, even in states fight arizona because americans have locked on and know that this election is about what kind of country we want for our children. They trust a stronger, together vision that hillary has laid out throughout this campaign. They have also seen the kind of campaign that donald trump has run. They are wondering how somebody who wants to be president of the United States is running a campaign that demonstrates almost every day, what a low opinion he has about the United States, and about the voters of the United States. [applause] anneor kaine my wife and i have a boy in the marines. Donald said our military is a disaster. Hillary got him to admit on the stage of the first debate that he does not even pay federal income taxes to support americas troops. Likes to trash talk where the economy is, but we found out productsall of his overseas, and he has wrought chinese deal and aluminum to build his hotels, as that of buying American Steel right here in pennsylvania. Products , heseas, and hefor some bizarrn leadersauthoritarian like vladimir putin, every chance he gets. He even promises that he will seek political and legal retribution against his enemies if he is president. Maybe he is running for something else. During the last debate he even warned that he might not accept the result of american democracy or it democracy. [booing] it was like, he ran a campaign, and he insulted every group he could. Mexican, immigrants, africanamericans, women, pows, gold star familys and he has insulted every possible group who is left to insult or what he has decided is why dont i of americanillars democracy. We cannot let this guy be president. [applause] senator kaine i do not know if you have heard this thing, because he seems to really like to say this thing, especially when he is in pennsylvania, that the election is going to be rigged. Losing, and he knows it, and he is not a guy who would ever accept responsibility and election because i run the most Divisive Campaign in american history. He will not accept responsibility so it has to be somebody elses fault, just like when the apprentice did not win an emmy award one year. He said it was clearly rigged. This guy cannot take responsibility for anything, anything. Khan,k it proves that mr. The virginia from charlottesville, the captain of his son who was killed who was protecting his colleagues. Mr. Khan had the right to ask the question if mr. Trump had even read the rights of the constitution. [applause] i know we all think thats has been a long election season, and you can hear from my voice that i has been a long election season and i only joined and the last 100 days. She has had to do it for two years. I know that sometimes, and this is unfortunate and a challenge that we have to embrace, should we have the honor of winning and serving. Sometimes a can seem like during this election cycle that we are that oure worst country has to offer. Lets remind ourselves and feel good that we are also seeing something special, something good about our country and that is what brings you here tonight. [applause] senator kaine we are seeing something that does not get nearly enough. It was right here in pennsylvania that hillary and i accepted the nomination of the democratic party. You guys put us on our way. [applause] after sheator kaine finished her acceptance speech on that thursday night, that powerful night, the Clinton Kaine families walked out on the stage with that massive use of balloons. We have some fans of the blooms here. Ons here. Lo as we were standing on that stage, i saw my 21yearold daughter trying to take and what it meant. , wife of 32e anne years come november 4, who has been with me through thick and thin, trying to take it all in. Who is 82, who was standing on stage and turned to me as the balloons were coming said, tim, this is the best night of my life. [applause] senator kaine at least for the got noy and a half i criticisms or suggestions. I bought myself a little window that night. [laughter] senator kaine as i was standing everyone,h something really started to hit home. I have been thinking about this the entire campaign. I have been in Public Service for 22 years since i ran for the Richmond Council and one my first race at the landslide of 97 votes. Let me tell you something, i would not have gotten very far, in fact, i would not have gotten into my first Office Without a whole lot of really amazing amazing women who have let me their strength on long the way so that i could be the candidate and have my name on a bumper sticker, on a yard sign, or on the ballot. [applause] senator kaine that night in i was notia, just thinking about the love and support of strong women in my family, i was also thinking about Women Campaign managers, cabinet secretaries, it staff, and i was thinking about women voters who have enabled me to serve. Lets not forget, beginning with the president ial election of 1964, in every president ial election, women have made up the majority of the american electorate. [applause] in other words, while i am probably no more free of patting myself on the back than anybody in politics, if i really think about it, i know i have only gotten in the position of leadership and responsibilities because i have had a lot of strong women who are willing to support me so that i could be the person getting the headline and doing the job. So, when hillary asks me three months ago today, the 22nd of july if i would be her running mate, i was honored to have the chance to play the role for her that so many strong women have played for me. [applause] now, make no mistake, women in america have come an awful long way. 50 years ago women could not even get a credit card without a man to cosign for them. They needed a husbands permission to start a business, they needed a husbands permission to cosign to rent. N apartment in some states women were barred from serving on juries. We have come a long way, but so much of the progress that we have made comments progress we should made, progress we should fill good about is at stake in this election. Instead of turning back the clock on women, like donald trump was to do, we should be doing everything to keep pushing forward. [applause] because folks, it is 2016, isnt it time that women were paid the same wages and salary as men . [applause] isnt it time that women should be able to take off work to care for a child or relative without losing their job . [applause] not tellaine i did hillary does, hillary i win out and shook some hands of folks that were not able to come in because you guys turned out in such numbers that people were outside. A Woman Holding a three and a halfyearold daughter in her arms, i said, tell me about your daughter and she said, when my bought ducks when might when my daughter was born i got fired from my job because there was no maternity leave. She started to cry. This was three and a half years ago. We made a commitment that we would do something about that, not just for women, women and men should be able to take off time when their kids are born, or to care for a sick parent. [applause] i told her, you may not be able to get into the rally, but because he said that hillary and i will have even more energy, because this is one of the things we need to fix it. After 240 years of american history, isnt it about time that a woman can serve as president of the United States and be commanderinchief . [applause] senator kaine of course its time. Of course its time. Of course its time. Of course its time. Guess what . [applause] [chanting hillary] senator kaine i think you can tell from the reaction that it is not only strong women, but also strong men who feel that now is the time. Now is the time. [applause] senator kaine now is the time. Is there anybody out in this audience who has tried to do something for the first time . In your house, in your family, in your neighborhood, maybe in your work
