Great to hear from you, matthew, indicator, georgia. Next is ken in lancaster, South Carolina. My monitor says you are in independent. Which primary did you vote in, in South Carolina . Caller i did vote actually. Let me give you a reason why. I want to Say Something about Bernie Sanders and trump. Mrs. Clinton talks about bringing jobs back. It was her husband that helped pass nafta. Bernie sanders but his stand on immigration is not strong enough. Wont support donald trump until i hear about the new york tape leaking out. Immigration, if we cannot , we willur borders have more people from mexico and central america. It is going to affect us in the future. We are 19 trillion in debt. This country is not moving fast enough to support everybody. The rhetoric coming out of washington, they dont care about american working americans, black and white. Republicans want cheap labor. I have friends who are making 18 an hour as brick masons. Now they are making 12. You have to speak truth to power sometimes. This country is not moving fast enough. It, welly, i hate to say might be a third world country. Black people and poor white people vote against their own interests. I dont have no candidate for me now. I am sorry. Thank you for your time. Host thank you for calling in from lancaster, South Carolina. Next is amy watching us in saint augustine, florida. A republican. Do you have a candidate . Caller im voting for donald trump this year. Host even though your senator is in the race . Caller yes, maam. I think donald trump has the best chance of getting the candidacy because he reaches out to the grassroots of america. A lot of us can relate to him on the public spectrum. I think he is the most relatable to the american public. I think a lot of us are very sick of politicians. We are very sick of the congressn and what the and presidency has done to us so far. I think he is the only one that tells the truth. The big thing with me is telling the truth, which i think is exactly why he is getting the endorsements he is. I think Hillary Clinton is the worst candidate of them all. She does not tell the truth. She has lied about benghazi. We are going to go to steve scully next. Steve has some numbers for us. Host numbers and information. David drucker states the obvious in this tweet that for marco rubio it will all come down to florida. We thought it might be instructive to look at where the calendar goes from here. Where a lotrimary of states in the south and a couple in the northeast. Moving onto march 5 where the primary and caucuses will be held in the following states. Maine, andisiana, nebraska. On march 6, the main democratic caucuses and puerto rican republican primary. Next tuesday, michigan, a big primary for the republicans, along with mississippi, hawaii, and idaho. In washington, d. C. , on march 12, primaries in florida, illinois, missouri, North Carolina, and ohio. Stephen shepherd is joining us on the phone. He is the editor and chief going analyst for politico. Thanks for being with us. Guest good to be with you. Host lets talk about a couple of stories on your website. The headline, a supertramp day. There is a piece about the media. Now, donald trump is clearly the republican frontrunner. Donald trump winning tonight in arkansas, alabama, assachusetts, tennessee virginia, perhaps vermont. It has been the sort of night a lot of people thought would not come to pass when donald trump entered the race in june. We have a couple of races still out. It looks like marco rubio is doing well in minnesota. Very close in vermont now. Alaska still comes late at night. So far, it has been a good night for donald trump. The delegate allocation here is complex in some states. It depends on how each candidate does in congressional districts. These are not winner take all in states like ohio and florida, march 15. We will have to see where we are at the end of the night. They are still counting in alabama where the polls closed three hours ago. A lot of math to do. So far, a night when donald trump won a lot more primaries than nine months ago i would have believed. Host i want to share an editorial posted a short while ago on the union leader website by the publisher. He began by saying, boy, were we wrong. He talks about the endorsement of Chris Christie. He says watching Chris Christie kiss donalds ring and make excuses for the man christie said was unfit for the presidency demonstrated how wrong we were at the union leader. This goes to the divisions within the Republican Party on ,he presumptive frontrunner donald trump, presumptive nominee at this point. Guest Chris Christies endorsement of donald trump took a lot of people by surprise last friday. Somenk the establishment, members of the establishment, you are seeing a reckoning there. There were reports governor rick scott might consider endorsing donald trump. Maine governor got behind donald trump. A handful of members of congress have gotten behind donald trump seeing him when many contests and run away with some of them in decisive fashion. You are seeing republicans in washington react to this in different ways. At the same time, youre seeing mp movement which is a backlash against that. If donald trump keeps winning states as we move toward this weekend which has more caucuses that might not be great for him, but next week the primary in michigan and the winner take all primaries on march 15. If he continues winning the majority of the states, republicans are either going to have to get behind him as the presumptive nominee or think about what else they can do and who else they could vote for. Host senator rubio was on cnn earlier tonight saying there is no path for donald trump to get to the necessary 1237 delegates. He indicated the path is better for his campaign as he moves into florida, ohio, and other states. Do you buy it . Guest potentially. Right now, no. Here is the reality. If donald trump does not get to the number of delegates in the primaries and caucuses and pledged delegates on the first ballot of the republican convention, it is difficult for him. If no one wins a majority in the races, a number of delegates become unbound. They can move around at the convention. Odds are based on the way republicans are starting to react to trumps candidacy that they would seek a different candidate. They would not stick with trump through that process. With they go with rubio would they go with rubio, unless minnesota is called during this interview, will still not have won a single state, be in third place in many states tonight, in some cases below the threshold to win any delegates in a state like texas were you have to have 20 . There are some questions about whether he is best positioned to be the person to inherit that. Or if someone like ted cruz who has won three states, adding texas and oklahoma to his when in ohio his win in ohio, is better positioned, where if it needs to be someone from outside. A brokered convention could work a number of different ways. If donald trump does not get the majority of the delegates, that is something that could be more of a reality. Host to those of you listening on cspan radio, our guest is Steven Shepard joining us to give us his analysis on the results the super tuesday. Let me ask you about the democrats. Foxnews tweeting they have confirmed Bernie Sanders winning the colorado caucuses tonight. There is a breakfast meeting tomorrow that will include tag divine and the Campaign Manager on the path forward for Bernie Sanders. Baseds the path forward on the victories Hillary Clinton had in the south and midwest . Guest Bernie Sanders winning and colorado. He looks like he may win in minnesota as well. Won handily in vermont and also oklahoma. Andplace he may fall short, a couple of networks have called it although it is still out, is massachusetts. The state border in vermont and a state in which he has spent a lot of resources. Hillary clinton a narrow lead in the point count. The five states Bernie Sanders played in, he will have won four of them and come up short in the fifth. The fifth is the largest, massachusetts. In the other six states, Bernie Sanders did not even contest them. Whereof Southern States many of the democratic primary voters are African American, Hillary Clinton won nine out of 10 African American voters in a lot of those states roughly. It is a constituency where Bernie Sanders struggles. That is a big problem for him. It spells trouble for him when the primary moves to louisiana this weekend or perhaps even michigan next week where Bernie Sanders is spending a lot of time and money. It also is a problem for him when the democratic primaries move to a state like florida or North Carolina where Hillary Clinton would expect to do very well. Based on how she is doing among nonwhite voters in these democratic primaries. It did not show Bernie Sanders can expand his appeal tonight. Won twoin all, given he of the five states in which he played, it was not a terrible night. It keeps us where we were in this process, which is Hillary Clinton is still the overwhelming favorite to win the democratic nomination, though she has not clinched it. Editor andn shepard, polling analyst for politico, thanks again for being with us. Guest always fun. Thanks a lot. Host dr. Ben carson is not dropping out. He is staying in the race. He is trying to set up a meeting with his republican contenders to talk about the upcoming debate. Marylandign moves to where the cpac conference is taking place. We will be hearing from republican candidates friday and saturday. Live coverage on the cspan networks. Host cpac is an annual event for cspan coverage. A lot more interest this year as the republican candidates make the case before the conservatives gathering at National Harbor a couple of miles down the road from the capital. This is interesting. Google searches for trump versus hillary just hit an alltime high. We are taking a telephone call tonight on super tuesday about tonights results. We will have more candidate events to watch. Here is a tweet. Why has the flint crisis not been mentioned . I need to know candidates care about people. Back to phone calls. New york, this is tom, he is a democrat. What do you have to say about tonights results . Caller the big issue that has come to mind as a democrat who is going to vote for Bernie Sanders in the New York Primary is Hillary Clintons electability, which is a real issue for people like myself who are very afraid of a republican in office. You look at the polling numbers. You see Bernie Sanders doing better against the republicans, including trump. You also look at some of the major issues surrounding Hillary Clinton. The email scandal, Goldman Sachs transcripts. These are the kinds of things and astute speaker like donald trump has the ability to pounce all over her for. Worries me she is going to be attacked relentlessly. That is why i think Bernie Sanders is a much stronger nominee for the november election. Host thank you, tom, calling from new york city. Next is josh in harrisonburg, virginia, an independent. How did you vote today . Caller i voted for Hillary Clinton. Host why did you make that choice . Sandershonestly, bernie is a tough choice. I wanted to comment on trump. Trumps numbers and shock in the American People. Im shocked to see his numbers so high. Host what you think is resonating for people with donald trump . It is histhink stability and stays with his answers. Hillary clinton flipflops from time to time. Trump is always there to pounce on it. As the person said before, he is astute and pounces on that very quickly. Host how do you see the year playing out . Caller honestly at this point, it looks like it is going to be hillary and trump as the nominees. Honestly, im kind of a little scared. I dont want to see trump in office. Host why not . Caller i dont know. I am not very sure. To be honest, i am a little nervous. I dont think he would be a very good leader. He is a little wild with his decisionmaking. A lot of his ideas are very radical. I dont know if i agree with that. Host thank you, josh. Dorie in call from parker city, indiana, a republican. Caller yes, my name is don. I am her husband. We are going for trump. I am a vietnam veteran. I think he could help the veterans out. He has been doing pretty good with the veterans. They are on his side. I think he can take care of all the people. There are a lot of veterans that need help. They are suffering. I am one of the fortunate ones. I dont get any help. That is why we are going for trump. I think he can do it. Say is all i have to because i think he has it over the rest of them. I did not want to vote for hillary because there is too much going on with her with things happening. I think donald trump will stand up for the people, and he can get some good help. He is a businessman. A movementcan make and keep things going to. Host thank you for your call from indiana. Louise is next, a republican. How did you vote today . I am sorry. You are calling us from manchester, michigan, a democrat. Welcome to the program. Caller thank you. Host what do you have to say about tonights results . Was very disappointed that trump won so much. I was also very disappointed that hillary won so much. I was very pleased to see bernie oklahoma. N apparently, he is doing very well in colorado. He seems to be doing well in minnesota and vermont. I am disappointed the boston globe came out and recommended that democrats vote for john kasich because john kasich did not win. Awaynk it took many votes from Bernie Sanders. And i think he would have won massachusetts if that had not been recommended to democrats. Primary, i am going to vote for bernie. Think he iscause i very intelligent. Problem in southeastern michigan. Onlyis that the of mentale Source Health care is the university of michigan. Systems. And health they are running short of doctors. Leaveung doctors have to because they have to pay 200,000 and 400,000 debts. The state of michigan used to pay 70 of instate tuition. 4 ofey only pay instate tuition. Louise, with apologies, im going to have to stop you. Health care is an important issue for you. We have many callers who want to comment on the election tonight. Thank you for making the call for michigan. Matthew is calling us from rockville, georgia. Matthew, youre now on the air, republican. Who did you vote for tonight . Caller thank you. Donald trump. Host why did you make that choice . Caller in 1976 when i first started voting, i was a labor in a union. I was told who to vote for. Back then, i was a democrat because they told me the republicans had all the minute money and democrats cared for the poor people. I am disabledretired now. I voted for trump because as i listened to what he said i dont like trump and i did not like it when i heard he was running. I thought it was ridiculous. When i first heard him speak, i liked every point he made. As a businessman that has gone from where he was to where he is now, he has made some really good decisions. I believe he would make good decisions for our country. That is the reason i voted for him. We keep our eightyearold granddaughter. I watch a lot of the news on all the channels and stay wellinformed on who is running for what. Im also ex military. Hillary was afraid even in the race. I am surprised she even got in. My granddaughter, we were talking. She said, did you vote for trump today . I said, yes, i did. She said her friend voted for Bernie Sanders. Another eightyearold girl at school, they were talking. Her friend said that if trump got to be president , they would be in slavery again. It was kind of funny. But then i got to thinking. Her family must have been sitting around talking about that where she wouldve had that opinion. That worried me. Trump has all kind of racial people working for him. He has thousands of people employed. He is not a racist at all. As far as getting illegals out of this country, i think that is great. As soon as they get out, they can turn around and come back in legally. That is the point. They are illegal. Restaurants, in our fields, working all over our country. They are doing a great job, but they need to be your legal. Here legal. I real proud of the way trump is going to handle that. I think he is a fair man to every color, every kind of person in america. Host thank you, matthew, from georgia. Next is john in newton center, massachusetts, an independent. Who did you vote for tonight . John, are you there . All right. We are going to move on. Sorry we missed you, john. Next is brenda in springhill, florida, a democrat. You are on the air. Caller i am going to be voting for Hillary Clinton next week in florida. But i do i have always had a concern about trump. Conservatives, so i am a democratrepublican. My concern is i am a female with a disability. He has made fun of everyone under the sun. If you look back on his history, you will see that. Neither party, my one concern is Neither Party has discussed the 20 trillion debt. Trump has never once stated how he would do something. I am concerned. I am concerned he got a lot of votes tonight. I would rather see kasich if i were republican. I think Hillary Clinton has had to fight republicans for a long time. I think she is much more in the middle. And i think they should both ta
