Just a few minutes ago at 2 00, the president signed an executive order to make sure that the men and women of the greatest naval force in the world have the supplies you need to keep us safe in the years ahead. This order commissions the first ever hold government assessment of American Industrial base marking the First Time Since president eisenhower that an american president is investing personal attention into the health of the United States industrial base. President trump is committed to maintaining the secure supply chains and robust workforce which will support our nations heroes for decades to come. Next week, we will highlight the veterans and First Responders who keep our communities safe every day. The boys and girls who grow up to be the next generation of american leaders. While i am on the topic of the men and women who protect us, i want to note that the president commended the house today for voting to reauthorize the department of Homeland Security for the first time. The Homeland Security reauthorization act also authorizes immigration and Customs Enforcement for the first time. Secretary kelly has already made tremendous progress in slfilling the president progress in defending the United States. This will make sure that that progress continues. On the hill, Senate Republicans this week continue to work towards our shared goal of the American People from the disaster of obamacare. Recently earlier this afternoon, Vice President pence thedr. Tom price hosted reason this several grass roots organizations, calling on the senate to take action on health care legislation. As the president has said, in action is simply not an option. These groups want lawmakers to note that they should follow through on their promise to the American People. Anally, i would like to read statement from the president on the resignation of sean spicer. Im grateful for shunts work on behalf of my administration and the American People. I wish and continued success as he moves on to pursue new opportunities. Just look at his Great Television ratings. He will continue to serve the administration through august. The present has appointed Anthony Scaramucci as the new comedic taking director. I have a statement on him as well. Anthony will be in important addition to this administration. He will help him lament he aspects of our agenda while leading B Communications team. Leading the Communications Team. We have a conflict so much, and the media covers so little. I will now invite anthony to come on up and answer some questions. I will then get back up again to answer any questions. I will be very brief and make my marks informal. [applause] i want to make a couple of statements. First, i want to thank sean spicer not only on behalf of myself, the president , the administration, but he is a true patriot. He is a military serviceman, and he has an amazing family could he has done an amazing job, and this was a hard situation to be in. I applaud him, i wish him well, and i hope he goes on to make a tremendous amount of money. As it relates to me in his position, i will spend a couple of weeks getting to know the people here, and then i will be as corrugated coordinated as i can be with people inside the west wing. There has been some speculation in the press. We have been personal friends for six years. We are a little bit like brothers where we rough each other up once in a while. That is normal for brothers. A lot of people in here have brothers and you understand that. However, he is a friend. He brought me into the Republican National committee network. He introduced me to governor walker. We have spent a lot of time together socially. Many are not aware about this, but after the Romney Campaign i invited him to sky bridge. I think it reflects poorly on him that he did not accept my indication my indication and became our chief operations officer, but i say that in just. I met with him before we sat in the oval office. We are committed as True Professionals to the team and the process of getting the administrations message out. I said it during the transition, and i will say again appear. I think at times there has been a disconnect between the way we see the president , how much we love the president , and how much you see of the president. We want to get the message out there. To use it wall street expression, there might be an arbitrage spread between how well we are doing and how well you think we are doing. So, we will work to close that spread. I will now answer questions. I will try to get as many as i can. Number one, what we have seen so far is the president being his own messenger frequently which calls which causes struggles for the communications staff. Have you hope to get the white house back on track . The white house is on track, and i think we are doing a good job. We have a whole list of things. I did not want to come out here with a list of the compliments advertisement infomercial right now. I really didnt like to talk about personnel movement. But i think we are doing an amazing job. The president is always going to be the president. I was in the oval office with him today, talking about letting him express himself and express his identity. I think he has some of the best political instincts in the world. He started his political instinct his political journey some months ago, and look at where he got to. We are going to get the message out. Can you talk a little bit about how you can how you plan to handle any conflicts of interest . I do not think it is fair to the president for me to go into the exact conversation, because i want to keep those between me and him private. We did talk a little bit about the white house and our personal relationship. Then, when he extended the offer to me, i told him i would do it. We have a lot of family members who serve in the american military. In my generation in 1964, i did not serve. I filled out the Selective Service card. This is an opportunity for me to serve the country. I love the president in this country. President andhe this country. So, it is an honor to be here. I have worked with the office of governmental ethics to take care of all my is this conflict. My start date will be in a couple of weeks, so i can make sure i am 100 cleansed and cleaned. An issue withee it and neither does white House Counsel. When you are bringing American Business people into the administration which has had some level of success in society, they have to encumber themselves which is a very interesting thing. It is somewhat ironic. You want to serve the country, so the first thing you have to do is take on this mega opportunity cost by getting with all your assets. That im willing to do that, because i love our country. Anthony, you have been watching the white house from outside. You have your own perspective on what you have seen probably. What is the first thing you are going to change to try and write the ship to put it on course right the ship and put it on course . Again, i take issue with that. I think the ship is already on course. We just need to do a better job of broadcasting that message. Overly omaticg is unfair, but what good entrepreneurs do is they start the day and go through the process. If you want to eat an elephant, yet to do that one bite at a time. Sarah and i will do that together. Anthony, did you have any hesitation taking this job knowing it might lead to sean leaving . The two or at least somewhat coincidental. To you have any hesitance how you would relate to the rest of the white house staff coming in under those circumstances . Im a business person, so what happens in business is that you have some rotation in personnel. You have lifestyle decisions people are making. I would love to have sean here. Sean decided it would be better to go. For me as a relates to sean, it speaks volumes to who we is as a human being and team player. His attitude was, anthony is coming in and he wanted to clear this late for me. Thank sean sean i for that, but i do not have any issue with sean. \ i want to make sure our cultural agenda is that we put the president first. That we serve his interests first. If there is some friction with that in the white house, then i am ok with that. I am used to dealing to friction. [inaudible] again, i would say that as an entrepreneur, you have to be a custome accustomed to setbacks. I wrote a bestselling book. Believe me, you can come into my basement and see every copy that i got to get it to a bestselling book. [laughter] was i disappointed . Yes, i said it candidly that i was disappointed, but i love the president and the mission that the president has. Ever since the early days of the campaign and i saw the love of the people have for the president. I grew up in the middle class, and there is a struggle out there. The president saw before i did. He taught it to me. I feel that struggle, and i had and that the for that struggle. I want to be here to make things better for the American People. I will try to get everyone. Sean and said that the president and others need a clean slate. How does that work with the direction of the white house . Heres the one problem with the way our society is working. Right now, we are micromanaging the sentence of the new cycle. I think the president will get a win in health care, because i see him in operation over the past 20 plus years. He has very good karma. The world turns back to him. He is genuinely a wonderful human being. I think if members of congress get to know him better and get comfortable with him, they will let him lead them to the right things for the American People. I also think we are going to get tax reform done. Whatever else is on the a, we wills agend work very studiously to go down. Will you commit to hosting regular camera interviews . X i will need a lot of makeup. [laughter] i am appeared today because i am the press director. We made a mutual decision that i should make as it answers many questions as possible, but i like consulting with the president before i make decisions like this. I know you have been one of the president strongest supporters for a while now, but does he know what you say but does he know what you said about him back in 2015, calling him a hack . He brings it up all the time. I should never have said that about him. If the president is listening, i personally apologize for the 50th time for saying that. He is wonderful thing about the news media. It was three minutes of my life, but he has never forgotten it and neither have you. I hope one day he does forget it. In. Nextere has been question. There has been some questions of credibility. Is your commitment to the best of your ability to provide information to the truth of your organization . I hope i do not have to answer that question. I hope you would tell from my body language that i will do that. You mentioned your relationship with ryan. Was he involved in the offer of the position . Yes, he was consulted and involved. Theres a lot of speculation about the timing and so on and so forth. What im here to tell you is that we are a team. [inaudible] like i said, i think some of this stuff is necessary to go into that regular detailed grand you were into that g randeur detail. I would just tell you that i am a team player. I have played team sports my whole life, and i believe you have to subordinate yourself to the greater good of the team. If tenets do not have disagreements about certain things, then they will not get to the championship. You have to get together and mix it up from time to time. I have no problem doing that. I love these guys, and i respect these guys. Is it perfect everyday . Tell me whose life is perfect everyday. President , serve the and im here to serve the people inside the west wing. Are you committed to regular televised briefings and having a regular relationship with the press . I am committed to being a transparent as i am standing here, but i would like to talk it over with the president. We have a new press secretary, so i would like to talk it over with her, and then we will get back to you on that. Two quick questions. Recently, the president has been feeling under siege with the russian investigation. Do you feel like he was feeling exposed and not adequately having people coming to his defense . I do not think so. One of the things i am feeling i am sort of having my white House Counsel briefing before my press briefing, so i want to limit my remarks. The thing about the president is that he is the most competitive person i have ever met. I have seen him throw a debt spiral through a tire. Spiral through a tire. Putts. S three foot i do not see this as a guy under siege, under pressure. Andpresident is a winner, we are going to do a lot of winning. [inaudible] he has made a habit of calling stories he does not like fake news. Is that the kind of relationship you want with Media Outlets . I want to speak for myself right now. It is my first day on the job. I have to get familiar with everyone and get direction from but i had an, interview with your new station and i thought i had i thought i handled it well. And itracted the story, accepted your apology immediately. I used to host wall street week for foxbusiness, so i have and that the for journalists in that sometimes they will get i have empathy for journalists and that they sometimes get stories run. Is somesked me if there media bias out there, then yes, there feels like there is a little bit of media bias. We are hoping theres something we can do to escalate that and turn it around. Let the message from the president get out there to the American People. President [inaudible] say, is what i would thought sean did a very good job. He is a very articulate person. He has spent 30 years in communications. I would imagine that if there are people here that there are people here who are going to be very excited about the next job he lands in. He is going to be an excellent communicator matter where he goes. As far as standing at the podium, i think everyone has their individual personality. I think the best messenger and best media person in the white house is the president of the United States. Im hoping to learn from him as well as from sarah and other people. How long has your relationship with the president lasted . The first time i met the president he was a name brand even back in the day. Michael is a close personal friend of mine. He introduced me to the president. I had met him a few more times from that. The yankeest of introduced me to him a few times. We got closer during the Romney Campaign where we did a couple of fundraisers in his magnificent apartment. I would not be standing here if i did not have a Good Relationship with the president. I love the president. Toill do the best i can serve him in the best way that i can. [inaudible] other going to be other changes . There is some speculation. I cant say that there are some who are staying. I did speak to both of them. I love the two of them should i go back in long ways with them. I think they are too, phenomenal people when it comes to the other people, i have to get to know them. Sean was incredible gracious if you hours ago when we sat in his office him and he spoke to them on my behalf. I have to get to know the people. They have to get to know me. Hopefully, they will like me and want to stay. We will see what happens. Were going to make it a very fun place to work. [inaudible] that is a very good question, but i think it is inappropriate for me to answer that question right now. I will have to get back to you on that. I will need some direction from general mcmaster and the present. And the president. I will do everything i can to get to every person in this room. Will President Trump have a press conference with us in the near future . I will talk to him about it. The president is phenomenal with the press. He is a great communicator. He won this election. 60 of thespent money, and we had about one third of the personnel. We won the presidency because of donald j. Trump. He is an unbelievable politician. At some point, we are going to make sure that that happens. I do not know when that point will be. You have to talk with him. I will do my very best to get everybody. I will go over here first. How are you going to handle [inaudible] let me explain that. It is a difficult place, because heres what happens to it is a little cramped in there. You have a lot of reporters from International News agencies. It is a difficult place, because you are trying to get a job done but you are sitting inside of a fishbowl. That is what i mean a difficult place. I do not mean a difficult place to work because of the people. I think there is a lot less palace intrigue then is getting reported about. I will work alongside my peers here to reduce that tension and anxiety, because we generally and genuinely like each other. Handleare you going to when a crisis comes up, and you put a very sophisticated message out at night and the president in the morning tweets something very different . Are you willing to say you have made a mistake . I took Trial Advocacy at or laww school at orville school. I will not answer that come in because that is a hypothetical. The first thing they tell you is to not answer hypotheticals. The president is a very effective communicator. I think hes going to continue to use social media. I know hes picking up about 300,000 followers a day. To me, i think it has been a very effective use of reaching th
