The former secretary of state in washington, d. C. This is one hour and a half. Almost two years ago, we all signed a letter, and the letter said, run, hillary, run. We promised hillary that when she took up this challenge, we would be with her, behind her, and do everything we could to make sure that Hillary Clinton is the first woman president of the United States of america. [applause] so, im going to make my comments very brief. I have just one thing to say. Doubt, theout a by far,ost qualified, by any person in this race for president , is secretary of state Hillary Rodham clinton. [applause] so, we just need to always remember that. A whole lot of people will be talking about how women are just supporting women because they are women. Ull a bunch of b right . We are supporting Hillary Clinton because she will be one president stest re of the United States of america that we have ever seen. With that, i will introduce a good friend of mine. We used to do this on the circuit when we were both running. They always had me introduce her because quite honestly we have so much in common. Mazie hirono from hawaii. Im from north dakota. She is buddhist. Im catholic. She is japaneseamerican. Im germanamerican. , will tell you, mazie hirono she is a little of the left of me, you may know, but i will ohana,u this, she is my which in hawaiian means my family, my friends. A great senator from the state of hawaii, mazie hirono. [applause] we are hereo because we are ready for hillary. [applause] there is only one person who could have brought this awesome crowd together and got so many of my colleagues together tonight. That is Hillary Clinton. You know, aside from the fact that she is, as far as we are concerned, the smartest person, the most experienced, the most committed, i am supporting hillary because of who she is and who she draws inspiration from. That is her mother, dorothy. Some of you know that i would not be standing here were not for my courageous mother who fled an abusive marriage in japan to bring me and my two brothers to this country so we could have a chance for a better life. It was really tough. She had low paying jobs, no job security, no health insurance. She persevered. That is what hillarys mother dorothy day. She was abandoned at a young age, went to live with her grandparents, began working for other people. She persevered. That is what hillary learned from her mom. Dorothys battle is hillarys. Attle for middleclass families, and all those that want to get into the middle class. Senators aremen the first women to get elected to the United States senate from our respective states. [applause] that was the case for heidi, that is the case for me. When Hillary Clinton becomes our first female president , it will signal to all the girls in this country that they can do and be anything. [applause] of course, when hillary becomes our president. When hillary becomes our president , that will be a first degree. Th i have the privilege of introducing another one of my sisters we all campaigned together in 2012 that is my sister Tammy Baldwin from wisconsin. [applause] tammy is the first openly gay person to be elected to the United States senate. [applause] was asked about this historic first, she said, im not ready to make history, im running to make a difference. [applause] my friends, Tammy Baldwin. Give it up for her. Baldwin what a great crowd everyone here ready for hillary . Whynt to share the reasons i am so proud to support Hillary Clinton. ,ost of them are substantive from her work and earliest days as an attorney with the childrens defense fund, fighting to make sure their children with disabilities have equal access to education. To her days as first lady and secretary of state, putting both womens rights and lgbt wr rights on the global stage, to laying the foundation for the passage of the Child Health Insurance program that we know as chip, and on and on. I want to say something. That is that we focus a lot on the substance, but the symbolism is important also. I want every young woman, every be able toto look at the president of United States, and see someone who looks a little bit like herself. [applause] we have an extraordinary toortunity in front of us elect Hillary Clinton as our next president. I want to introduce you to a colleague, who, in the political world, has coined the phrase for sidelines. The politics is not a spectator sport. Please welcome to the stage, my friend and colleague, hurston hillebrand. Thank you. Lebrand thank you for your leadership and friendship. It is an honor to be here with my senate female colleagues, and an honor to be with you. Thank you for supporting hillary. All of us are here because women in our state support us. Women do so much for our campaigns from knocking on doors, stuffing envelopes, to voting. It is important that women speak out, and use their voices to vote for candidates that represent the values. It is also important for us to in this country from governors mansions to congress, to the senate, and of course, the white house. Lets think about it. If we had more women serving in government, we would have more women leading on issues that we care about, whether it is paid leave, equal pay for equal work, affordable day care. If women made up half of congress, i promise you, we would never debate whether women need to have equal pay for equal work, or whether we would have access to basic contraception. Just imagine what we would have if we had a woman president of the United States. I think we all know how amazing it will be when hillary is the next president of the United States. [applause] it is not just the women who will benefit. E more woment th are empowered and make decisions, we will have stronger ,usinesses, a growing economy and stronger communities. The only way we will get there is if every person in this room works day andrt night to make sure we have the resources to win this election, and make sure we get every single vote out. ,hen women vote, women win and hillary will be the next president of the United States. [applause] it is my pleasure to introduce an amazing leader, senator jeanne shaheen, the only woman that has been a senator and governor in our nations history. She is the next on foreign policy, and an amazing friend, jeanne shaheen. Senator shaheen thank you. Huh . An amazing crowd, [applause] i bring you greetings from the frontlines of the presence of campaign. The New Hampshire primary. [applause] where, last night, we had our Jefferson Jackson dinner. We had 1200 people, which is a lot for New Hampshire. We had all of the president ial democratic president ial candidates there. We had bernie, martin omalley, and hillary. Im here to tell you that hillary rocked the house last night. [applause] their thunder sticks. My favorite line was when hillary said, im not running to make a point, im running to make a difference. That is what her campaign is about. Making a difference for america. I can tell you that hillary will win the New Hampshire primary. [applause] i know that because even though close, theay it is people who are running her campaign are the people who helped me beat scott brown. [applause] we sent him packing. I can tell you, we will send the other candidates for president packing in New Hampshire, and hillary will win the first primary state. We can use a little help though from all of you who want to be out on the trail, making a difference. We have nice, Winter Travel packages available in New Hampshire. Come up, knock on doors, do a hillarykiing, and help become the next president of the United States. [applause] excited that i not only get to be here to talk about hillary tonight, by also get to introduce one of my best friends you think ale franken is the funniest member of the senate, but really it is Amy Klobuchar but she is also the hardest working person for families who has been working so hard to improve the economy of her state and of this country. And she has been traveling all over the Company Country working for hillary. When amy go someplace, the democrats win. [applause] so hillary is going to win. Amy klobuchar. [cheering] [applause] senator klobuchar thank you so much. You may be from the great Granite State of New Hampshire, but im just across the border from iowa. In fact, i can see iowa from my porch. [laughter] [applause] and i can tell you this, Hillary Clinton is going to win iowa. [cheering] [applause] and let me tell you, first of all, i am so excited about hillarys campaign. For me, it is personal. When i first got to the senate, i remember reading all of her agriculture papers because they were not many women that were in states that had major ag areas of her state. Now she is putting those interaction with her work in iowa. The other reason it is personal for me is because my mom is no longer with us, but she was when hillary started running for president and she had one goal. And that was that Hillary Clinton would be president s. I have a picture of my mom and hillary in my office, and we are going to make that come true. [cheering] [applause] the second reason is a reason of substance. Hillary clinton has put out plans for this country, not for the short term, but for the longterm. Thank you, cheering for the longterm. [laughter] sheof my favorite things has done issue has taken on the issue of Substance Abuse. Something that percent fx 50 56 of americans effects 56 of americans know someone who suffers from Substance Abuse. Read her piece from last week. If you need some talking points for the holidays, you read that. Ok. The third and the last reason is her incredible, true grit. Hillary clinton has been so resilient. You look at what you did in the ben ghazi hearing. Right . [cheering] [applause] that is the definition of true grit. You look at her appearances lately, whether it is stephen colbert, jimmy fallon, people have gotten to know Hillary Clinton like so many of us know her. And i think you have seen an amazing shift in the way the American People are understanding the where she is coming from. This is a grassroots campaign. Coming from the state of walter mondale. We will not forget when he put Geraldine Ferrero on the ticket. And coming from the state of hubert humphrey, what said that if we dont write our own history, someone else will write it for us. My friend, we are not going to let those guys on the other side of the aisle write our history for us. Our history is here. It is Hillary Clinton. And she will be our next president. [cheering] [applause] speaking of true grit. I have the great privilege to introduce a woman who knows little bit about true grit. And that is my great friend, Claire Mccaskill of missouri. Claire isu all know one tough cookie. Two toughs won races. Forre has also fought military families. She has taken on Government Accountability issues. The title ofshe is her book to add this, she is plenty ladylike. My friends, Claire Mccaskill [cheering] [applause] ok, that wasskill the senator next door. One pitch deserves another. It is great fun to be here with all of my colleagues. You know, every morning i get up, and i have a cup of coffee early. And i look at the days news. And it seems like almost every morning i read about the leading candidate for president in the Republican Party and i say out loud, he said what . [laughter] [applause] he said what . Are you kidding me . And then compare and contrast. Our leading candidate. Stable. Strong. [cheering] smart. [cheering] substantive. [cheering] there is no irresponsible rhetoric. There is no play into the cheap seats. But there is a lot of hard work. And we have so much hard work in front of us. Because this is a woman who understands shes got to earn the trust of the American People. And so when you think you havent done enough for Hillary Clinton, when you think you have gone to enough event where you have called enough friends or you have made enough phone by then itlup will be on netflix or itunes and watch it again. If you havent seen the movie, go see it. The sacrifices that women have made to come to this moment. Now, she is going to work to earn this. And we are going to be proud of her while she does. But tonight, i think we should treat ourselves and just try something out. And say it out loud for the first time. , on thent you to say count of three, what we are going to call Hillary Clinton in january of 2015. 1, 2, 3. Madam president all right [applause] speaking of substance, speaking of smart, there is a woman in the senate who never elbows anyone out of the way for a camera, who never wants the attention that is and is always doing the hard work. That is why i am so proud to be her friend. Please welcome the very special Maria Cantwell from washington. [cheering] [applause] hear theretwell i are over 1000 people get to support Hillary Clinton for president. Thank you all very much. And as claire said, there are two cans of senators in washington. Those when the tv cameras show of go and fix their hair and makeup, and then there are the women. [cheering] and we are here [cheering] we are here to support one of our own. You know why . Because as president , Hillary Clinton knows that we need to retrain laidoff workers and returning veterans so that they can have a job in the economy of the 21st century. She knows we need to grow the economy from the middle out, and that is why we need to increase the minimum wage. And she knows she will find signed the first bill that says equal pay for equal work. [cheering] [applause] that is what we will get with Hillary Clinton. And that is why we have to work hard. Last time when hillary ran, my mom, literally before the day of the caucus, had her appendix taken out, but showed up for the caucus to support hillary. So i just want us to all know whatever the circumstances, appendix or not, we are going to be there for hillary. We are going to get the vote out. And we are going to make sure that equal pay does become the law of the land. If i can just say a great word about my tremendous colleague from michigan, you know, hillary has fought for health care her entire life, and when senator stabenowow senator was on the ticket, the republicans try to take out basically the provision for Womens Health care. Even one of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle said, why do you need Preventative Care . We dont even need to take care of this. Debbie said, and no, but your mom did. Please welcome senator debbie stabenow. Debbie [cheering] [applause] [applause] hello, hillaryw land. We are ready to rock n roll. It is a wonderful being hit with all of my colleagues. I picture january 2017. [cheering] when the door opens, and there walked down the stairs, and Hillary Clinton walks down and puts her hand up and takes the oath. Thats when our children and grandchildren, the grows and our lives, will know they really can be anything they want to be. Anything they want to be. [applause] had the great pleasure and honor of knowing Hillary Clinton for almost 30 years. We were both five when we started. [laughter] at aet on a panel on National Convention in detroit on protecting children. And i heard this wonderful woman, who was there representing the childrens defense fund, also first lady at the time, speak about how critical it was to protect our children from child abuse and neglect. I said, who is that woman checkup i am woman . I am pretty impressed with this woman. And i have been impressed ever since. We have had the opportunity to Campaign Together for her other half, who did pretty good as president , i recall. And i had the great honor of being in beijing in 1995 [cheering] when our Hillary Clinton , despite great controversy, in a huge room much bigger than this people whispering, what she really going to get up and say what they thought she was going to say . We had seen women from tibet who were out marching in protest who suddenly would disappear. We saw all kinds of things happening around beijing at the time. And when Hillary Clinton represented the United States and represented all of us stood up and said, womens rights are human rights, it changed [cheering] [applause] it changed the world. And she has been doing that ever since. And then, it was an honor to come in with her in 2000 to the United States senate. We had the opportunity to come in and, once again, as a colleague, i saw somebody willing to work across the isle when it made sense, kick them in the rear when it made sense, fighting for working families, for choice, for health care, including Mental Health and Substance Abuse services i am so proud of her efforts on that for equal pay, all of that. We know what she did. Now, i want each of the women here just to take a moment and think about something that we all can identify with on this stage. And that is i bet in her life you have been told you are too this, you are too that. Your hair is to this. Too this. You smile enough, you dont smile enough. We have all had that. Ait,ave all been told, w it is not your time. Wait, there will be another time. Today, we are here to say it is our time. [cheering] [applause] and president Hillary Clinton is just right. [cheering] [applause] introduce another woman who is just right. She was told when to started by state politicians she couldnt make a difference as a parent advocate concerned about saving her local preschool programs that were targeted for budget cuts. She organized 13,000 parents and saved the program. Then she put her tennis shoes on and she went to work to become a tremendous leader and advocate from washington state. She has made a huge difference. First female senator from washington, first female chair of the Senate Veterans committee, which invites everyday for our veterans. The first female chair of the Senate Budget committee, where she got a major bipartisan Budget Initiative done a couple of years ago. She fights for education and transportation and budget and health care and womens issues and veterans issues. The senior senator from washington state, patty murray. [cheering] [applause] senator murray thank you so much for that introduction. It is so great to be here with all of you. Executives, professionals, teachers, moms, daughters, sisters. The bedrock of this campaign. For years, our friend, Hillary Clinton, has inspired women and girls everywhere to punch through glass ceilings. She has made a career out of standing up for our families and kids. She has demonstrated americas leadership from one side of the globe to the other. And just like all of us, she still puts her pantsuits on one leg at a time. [cheering] [applause] i am working with many of the women here behind me on ways to help make our country work for all of our families, not just the wealthiest few. And i recently heard from a woman named sandy from seattle. To put herself through college, sandy got a job in retail. Her paycheck was next to nothing. And with benefits, actually were nothing. But she did with all women do, she just worked harder. She earned her degree, she got a job. But after a couple of months. Months, she was chatting with a male colleague and found out he was offered 20 more for doing the exact same job. Well, sandy was mad, but she kept working harder. She went back to school, and then she got back in the workforce again. And now today, she needs to make sure she has flexible hours to take care of her kids. And she keeps working harder and harder to keep up and keep her familys head above water. Sandy, and millions of women just like her in this country, are looking for a president who is going to work just as hard for them as they do for themselves and their families. A president who listens to their stories and shares their priorities. Who understands their challenges are real, and that we can Work Together to tackle them. I have seen hillary in the center. I have no her for years. And i know she is the woman for this job. [cheering] [applause] much she cares, and i know how hard she fights. I know she is going to be a great president , but i also know we have got to keep working hard to help her get there. We know the republicans are going to fight hard to attack hillary. But you know what . Anding at this room tonight seeing the energy of millions of supporters across the country, i know we are going to fight back and i know we are going to win. [cheering] [applause] pleased tom so introduce a woman who has been a champion for Womens Health, the environment, so much more that all of you care about. She is a senator who will be so missed next year here in the senate, but whose work will absolutely continue. Please join me in welcoming my great friend for ever, senator barbara boxer. [cheering] [cheering] [applause] [cheering] [applause] this is soer exciting now, it takes something extraordinary to overcome all the logistical hurdles involved in getting 13 of us here at the same time. Thatthat is something something extraordinary is Hillary Clinton. That is why we are here. I was a little late getting here tonight because i have been negotiating the final provisions of a major fiveyear transportation bill. [cheering] [applause] has beenbody here working with me on it, for which i am very grateful. And i look forward to seeing it say, we haveant to 60,000 bridges that are structurally deficient, and 50 of our roads are not in good condition. And i was so happy to hear hillary say that one of her priorities is rebuilding america. Moving america forward. [applause] fixing those bridges and those highways. And while she is at rebuilding america, she is, in fact, rebuilding our spirits right now. Isnt she . Forget we know what it takes, all of us know up to what it takes, we know what comes at us. Running for the United States senate, let alone running for the highest office in the land. And so with a we say thank you. When hillary announced she was going to run, i was over the moon. I was ecstatic. White . Why . Because i knew we had a chance to elect their woman who is yes;iant, yes; passionate, pragmatic, yes yes. Senator boxer and someone with a great depth of knowledge. She has gravitas and maturity to lead our country and the world. No onehillary can do that. But, you know, now the stakes are so much higher. I believe this president ial election is about saving our country. And i dont say that lightly. When we hear republican candidates deny the science of climate change, it is time to elect Hillary Clinton. [cheering] [applause] they say they are not scientists. That is why they should listen to the scientists. When we hear republican candidates say that they would shut down the government in order to defund planned parenthood, and when one republican candidate calls us prochoice americans barbarians, it is time to elect Hillary Clinton as president. [cheering] [applause] when we hear republican candidates oppose raising the minimum wage with some even calling for the repeal, the abolishment of any federal minimum wage, it is time to elect Hillary Clinton. [cheering] [applause] and when we hear donald trump you are paying attention to me. [laughter] when we hear donald trump said he wouldnt will out a special id card for muslims, and ben carson compare Syrian Refugees to rabid dogs, it is time to elect Hillary Clinton. [cheering] [applause] knows, whatone who makes this country great paired someone who actually understands foreign policy. She has lifted, she understands hard how are and soft power. She stands up for womens rights, for gay rights, for civil rights, for our environment, and for our children. And i will finish with this before i turn to my incredible senior senator i am so old and i have a senior senator. [laughter] i guess it is good to be called junior. [laughter] but imagine i want you to imagine what it would be like in the year 2020, just four years away, as our country celebrates the 100th anniversary of women getting the right to vote, who will be presiding over those celebrations . President Hillary Clinton. [cheering] [applause] to tell youto be how far i go back, i remember bumper stickers that said, imagine peace. That is when we were in the war in vietnam. We need to imagine we need to imagine hillary presiding over that occasion. Now, many of us have made history in our own states. Iran, thereand were only two women senators and i ran, there were only two women senators. [applause] and there are two more great ones coming. Andle would say to dianne me, are you kidding . How could two women be elected from the same state check of and then they would state . And then they would add, and you are jewish to boot. I would respond, did you ever ask how it is that two white female protestants could get elected to the senate white male protestants could get elected to the senate from the same state . Which, ould add, besides the senate needs a good dose of chicken soup. [laughter] than eight years later, we are still very strong partners. I cannot imagine a better partner than senator dianne feinstein. It is such a pleasure to introduce to you a woman who is one of the Great National leaders on intelligence. She is a Great National leader on protecting our rights, and she is certainly not afraid to stand up to ted cruz on sensible gun laws. Ladies and gentlemen, the great senator dianne feinstein. [cheering] [applause] [applause] senator feinstein am i lucky to have barbara as a partner . I think so. And i want to thank everybody for coming. I want to thank you for really looking deeply into this race. It isnt just that hillary is a woman. If that were the case, you could make a negative argument, too. In this case, Hillary Rodham clinton is clearly the most qualified candidate. [applause] time in thet of my intelligence world right now. And what i see increasingly is how dangerous a place this world is. How knowledgeable and sensitive and qualified you really have to be to deal with people who need Different Countries when you want them to do something you want them to do. Can anyone imagine donald trump in that position . And i think that if you look at someone that has had eight years as first lady, who has traveled this land on her own, and with her husband, then the president. If you look at somebody who has been a United States senator from the great state of new york for eight full years. [applause] and [applause] if you look at someone who has been a most distinguished secretary of state with literally millions of miles under her belt, you come to the conclusion that to this israeli the only candidate out there this is really the only candidate out there that has the opportunity because of the knowledge that is in her brain to solve some of the problems that we face as the most indispensable nation on earth and they need to use that power that it gives us in a proper way. This race, ladies and gentlemen, is so important. As a matter of fact, i think, as i watched the Republican Debate and i see what is coming down the pathway, it is really important that we get out there and that we work for hillary. That sheis nice understands what we go through as a woman. It is wonderful that she knows how the world is for women. But most importantly for all of us, it is the specific talent that she brings. It does remind, her knowledge of World Leaders it is her mind, her knowledge of World Leaders. We had that opportunity now. I think in this race to make a real change within the United States of america. Not only a more compassionate thatn, not only a nation cares more about people who need a step up in life, not only a nation that wants to treasure education, but a nation that has to lead in the world. Some of the problems out there that you see in paris, that we see in the middle east, it is often said that we have a big problem with terrorist groups and that isis is not being contained. Is being contained. Well, it is now in 12 other countries. Hillary Rodham Clinton knows these things. She is educated in them. She has the ability to know where to go and who to talk to. It doesnt sound like much when you listen to it appear, but it really is listen to it up here, but it really is important. And as you can see on the stage is 13 women who are supporters for this woman not only to become the first woman president of the United States, but to bring the kind of expertise and energy and staying power. You saw donald trump. Well, the next debate shouldnt be three hours, maybe just an hour. [laughter] anyone who has been in one of those hearing rooms knows what sitting there for 11 hours and going through [cheering] [applause] so, we know that she has the compassion, we know she has this day power, we know she has the drive the staying power, we know she has the drive. Sometimes i dont know how she does it, but she does it day after day, year after year. We have one great candidate. We should be so proud. And we should work as hard as we can because i deeply believe she will be a Great American president. [applause] [cheering] [applause] and now [applause] introduce a Great American United States senator. I first talked to Barbara Mikulski when i was running for office and the phone rang and i said, hello, who is this. And she said, all this is Barbara Mikulski. How are you doing . And i didnt know her. I said, fine, thank you very much. Then i had the opportunity to actually meet her. She is 52 and just incredible. You should see her run. Serve on there Appropriations Committee of the senate. Barbara has been the chair of the Appropriations Committee until the senate changed this past year. And she runs it with a strong hand. And she gets it done. And so the women appear really value this United States women up here really value this United States senator. The president just recognize this United States senator. And the president just recognize this by giving her the award. It is the biggest civilian honor that can be the stone on an american. That can be bestowed on an american. It is with great love that all of us appeared today introduce you to the one and only, senator Barbara Mikulski [cheering] [applause] [applause] [cheering] [applause] senator milkulski hi, everybody hi how are you . Are you ready for hillary . Yes senator milkulski we are ready now illary right i am so glad to see all of you here. And we want to thank you for coming to support the hillary for president campaign. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts and the bottom of your pocketbook. [laughter] we had many wonderful people here this evening, but i want to recognize dorothy mccullough, the first lady of virginia. [applause] and also, lets give a shout out to people not only on the stage, but on the frontlines. The women in the house of representatives, those Democratic Women who stand up to those right wing republicans. Lets have a shout out for them. [cheering] [applause] now, tonight we are here for hillary. And i know you are here for hillary. And we are ready for hillary. We need to be there for her every day and in every way. She is out there campaigning, and we are out there campaigning for her. Now, you might have heard that im going to leave the senate at the end of this term. But im ready to turn a new page. I am not ready to write the final chapter. In my next 12 months, i will be working with my college for the democratic agenda, and i will be working my earrings off. How about you . [cheering] [applause] and why do we want to do that . Because we know shes got the right stuff and it is her time to be president. 95 years ago, women got the right to vote. Dont you think after 95 years we should have a woman president . [cheering] [applause] and when hillary gets the presidency, and she will, she will make history and she will change history. She will be fantastic. But we have to work for her. We love hillary. And why do we love hillary . First of all, we know that she we know her. But most of all, she knows us to she knows she knows us. She knows our hopes, our dreams, our needs. She has been crisscrossing the country having meetings, listening, listening, listening. She knows that all great leaders have to listen and learn from the people they are going to represent. She knows that the best ideas will come from the people. And when she goes into that oval office, she will take our hopes and our genes with her. Hillary will be quite a fighter. She is already quite a fighter. We know her as a champion. We know her as a champion for the underdog. We know her as a champion for the little guy. And the little gal. [cheering] we know she has the whole thoughts about what we need to be able to do as a nation. She will be yes, our first woman president. But for hillary, it is not only about gender, it is about an agenda. An agenda that will get back get us back on the right track, started by president barack obama. We want to continue the momentum of president obama. We know that hillary will continue to fight for jobs, keep the ones weve got, and try to create a new went. We know she will stand up for our families. Affordable and extensible childcare. Make sure Public Schools we can count on and the quality of an education for child should never depend on the zip code they live in. [applause] and she believes that Higher Education should be part of the american dream, not a financial nightmare. Make College Affordable for the majority and will make College Affordable for the majority of our people. [applause] she will look to close that income inequality gap. Yes, she believes we have to raise that minimum wage. A fulltime job should not mean fulltime poverty. And yes, lets finish the job we started with [indiscernible] bill sign that paycheck and have it signed by Hillary Rodham clinton. No woman should be hassled or her last simply because she asks what does the guy next to her and earn. , weshouldnt be fired should be fired up and pass the paycheck fairness act. [cheering] [applause] and hillary will also look out for our seniors and are veterans to make sure that Social Security continues to be an undeniable and reliable benefit. We dont want to privatize Social Security, we dont want to outsource Social Security, we want to keep Social Security, we want to get medicare, we want to keep our values that make america great. We want Hillary Rodham clinton in the white house leading the fight for us. [cheering] [applause] so, friends, we have to be fired up. Weve got to be ready for hillary. I think america is ready for hillary. I want you not to turn your attention to a video to see about all these wonderful young people who feel exactly the same way we do. [indiscernible] i am nine years old. [indiscernible] because from George Washington to barack obama, it is ridiculous the has never been a female president before. Work. Will be hard i know you can do it. Us. Hope you can fight for i would like to see an end to killing by guns. You inspire me i want to be [indiscernible] [indiscernible] [indiscernible] [cheering] [applause] i would work for candy. [laughter] senator milkulski so, everybody, are we ready . Yeah senator milkulski lets suit up, lets get some lipstick on, and lets be ready for hillary. And here she comes [cheering] [applause] [cheering] [applause] [cheering] [applause] mrs. Clinton well, if you are ready for me, im ready for you. [cheering] i am so excited to be here and to have this chance to stand on the same stage with my friends and former colleagues. On they in Amazing Group . Arent they an Amazing Group . [cheering] i was excited when Barbara Mikulski got the president ial medal, the medal of freedom. A well deserved. I am so grateful to her for her leadership. She is the senator who made it possible for somebody like me to wear pants on the senate floor. [cheering] and among her many, many accomplishments, she says she is retiring, but that has never been a word that applies to Barbara Mikulski. Another person to her the word retiring really doesnt fit is barbara boxer, who has also announced that she is retiring. Exampleo are in amazing an amazing example of fortitude and leadership on so many important issues. The senate is going to miss them, but im sure, as i heard Sarah Makowski say, they are going to have new chapters to write. I think we should show our appreciation to them for their years of service on behalf of our country. [cheering] [applause] i literally could keep you here for many hours talking about these amazing women. I want to do that, but i want to thank you 20 them. I want to thank tammy and patty, debbie, and also some or other is my former colleague, mary landrieu. [applause] an all in all, this is amazingly distinguished group. Literally, they have so much courage and smarts. A combination of grit and grace that applies to each and every one of them. It was really the honor and privilege of my life to serve with them, and to learn so much from them. Now, the senate will be in good hands when, unfortunately, the leave because we have these extraordinary senator still serving. And i, for one, where lately will really be counting on them because we are going to do everything we can to put our country on the right track. And im hoping that because of the election next year, this time we will be able to celebrate more democratic senators, and maybe even have taken the majority of the senate back. [cheering] [applause] now, [applause] i am so excited to see all of you here because i need your support. I need your generosity. But more than that, i need your hours of volunteering and canvassing and reaching out to everyone you can possibly touch. Because this election is so consequential. I think about it, and there could not be two more different views, visions, and set of values between what we hear from the republican candidates and what im trying to lay out as the agenda for the future. The kind of future that will get our economy working for everybody, enable more people to fulfill their potential, continue americas leadership in the world. We hear a lot of negativity and ideology coming from the candidates on the other side. But i think it is important to try to pierce that with some good oldfashioned facts. [laughter] [cheering] for example and i know my republican friends really hate it when i say this our economy does better when we have a democrat in the white house. [cheering] [applause] the evidence is pretty overwhelming. Unemployment is lower, incomes are higher, and you are four times more likely to have a recession when we have a republican in the white house. You dont have to go all the way back in our history to prove that, just go back the last 35 years. We have had five president s. Three republicans and two democrats. I happen to know both of the democrats. [laughter] and each of them inherited economic problems from the republican predecessors. You know, in my husbands case, it was a husbands case, it was a recession and our National Debt had been quadrupled in the past 12 years. I remember him saying to me, you know, it is so much worse than they told us. [laughter] and then he was asked, what is it you are bringing to washington . He said, well, probably arithmetic. [laughter] , and aftero work eight years, we had 23 million new jobs, incomes went up for everybody, not just at the top in the middle, working people, more poor people lifted out of poverty than in any time in recent history and we ended up with a balanced budget and a surplus. [cheering] you would think the evidence is pretty clear that that was an Economic Policy that actually worked for everybody. But back came the republicans with their ideology, trickledown economics, and they begin to just dismantle it brick by brick. Cut taxes on the wealthy. Then they took their eyes off of corporations and the financial markets, the mortgage market. And you know what happened. Shortly after the 2008 election, president elect obama called to me. He wanted me to be secretary of state, but i didnt know that at the time. So [cheering] he and i were sitting there, and he looked at me and says, it is so much worse than they told us. [laughter] i said, you know, president elect, i have heard that before. But it was terrible. I mean, were losing 800,000 jobs a month. Over, 3 million americans lost their jobs. 5 million lost their homes. Wealthllion in family was wiped out. Now, i dont think president obama gets the credit he deserves for digging this out of that big ditch that he inherited from the bush administration. [cheering] [applause] had been our great depression. And the American People worked so hard. You know the sacrifice that a lot of folks may. Made. So, we are standing again, but we are not yet running the way america should. We need to make sure the economy is producing more good paying jobs, and we need to make sure that incomes are rising again. The American People havent really had a raise in a long time. Now, folks at the top are doing just fine. But most people . They are still struggling. The cost of childcare or college or Prescription Drugs they are going up faster than wages. So weve got to get the economy back working for everybody to create broadbased prosperity again. And i have been laying out plans. I am determined. I am just going to keep telling people what i will do as president. And so i have been laying out plans about how we can create more good paying jobs. I rolled up my plan for building and maintaining our infrastructure. Our roads, our bridges, our tunnels, our ports, our airports, our rail system, and dont forget our virtual infrastructure. By 2020, everybody in america should have access to highquality affordable broadband that connects them to the rest of the world no matter where you live. [applause] createthink we can millions of new jobs if we get serious about combating climate change. And i give the president great credit for being over in paris leading on this issue. [applause] but you know what the republicans say when they are asked about climate change. They say, well, im not a scientist. My response is, go talk to one. [laughter] there are lots of them around. We know some, dont we . We could introduce you. This denial of science. And it is not only terrible for the environment and our children and our grandchildren, it is bad for the economy. I want to set some big goals. By the end of my first term, i want is to have installed half a billion more solar panels. And by the end of my second, enough clean energy to power every home in america. [cheering] [applause] i am also really focused on doing more for Small Business. I want to be they Small Business president because 60 of our new jobs will come from Small Business. And right now, we are not seeing the growth that we need. Do you know it is now easier to study Small Business in canada or france than it is in the United States . We have some great champions of Small Business on this stage. I want to work with them and others to clear out the brush, to get the credit flowing again, to get more people with those good ideas chance to be able to start and grow a business. My dad was a Small Businessman, and i deeply respect that entrepreneurial spirit. We will also have to tackle the tax code. Stackedw, it is really in favor of the wealthy. All of the loopholes and inductions, whatever it is that enable somebody to escape paying their fair share. The wealthy pay too little, and the middle class pays too much. And i have said i think the middle class deserves a raise, not a tax increase. And i will not raise taxes on middleclass families because they have to get back to where they were before they fell into that pit of the great recession. [applause] if you are thinking about raising incomes, you know the fastest surest way of doing that . It is to make sure women get equal pay for equal work. [cheering] [applause] mikulski talking about the paycheck fairness act. We are going to move heaven and earth to get that passed because this is still a real problem. It is not if you listen to the republicans, but i actually meet real people. I have had some real conversations. A young man in New Hampshire said to me, i want to tell you why i am for you. I said, why . He said because my first real job, i went to work as a cashier in the store where my mother had been working for four years. He said i was really excited. This was it. An adult thing i was doing. He said i work to their, then i got my first paycheck and i took it home and i showed my mom, and i watched her face fall. I asked her what the problem was. She said you have been there for two weeks, you are making more than i make. I have been there for four years. I said, what could have caused that . Folks said, well, you know, people keep their eye out for young promising men that they might put into managing the management programs. They pay them or to try to keep them. His mom who had been working to support them all these years had been shortchanged. But it is not enough to have just equal pay. We have to provide more equal support so families can balance work and their family responsibilities. [applause] paid family leave. Paid in six days. Paid sick days. [applause] weve got to start looking at what people are living like today. It is not 1955. It is 2015. We need to do more to lift up the opportunity ladders that have been knocked down or broken up. And i believe so strongly that if we give women an equal chance to compete, it is not only good for them and their families, it is good for our economy. It is a growth strategy. And Something Else is education. I want to do everything i can to make sure k12 education is the best we can offer to our kids. [applause] [cheering] [applause] brain is physically formed by the age of three. It really matters what happens in those early years. And weve got to Pay Attention because i think talent is universal, but opportunity is and. And there are too many young people who are behind the first day they walk in the kindergarten. And then we have to make College Affordable again. And i have rolled out my new College Compact to do just that so that you do not have to borrow a dime to pay tuition if you go to a public Fouryear College or university. And Community College will be free because weve got to start thinking of those two additional years as extensions of what high school used to be. [applause] [cheering] and we are going to work to make sure we help people pay down their student debt. Right now, 1. 2 trillion in student debt. It is just crippling dreams and aspirations. It is preventing young people from getting the jobs they want or even getting married. Everywhere i go, i asked how many of you have or ever have had student debt. Hans always go up. We can save thousands of dollars, and i do not believe that the federal government should be making money off of lending money to our students to get their education. [applause] also defend the Affordable Care act. [cheering] [applause] it, which improve will do my best to do, working with the congress. But the republicans have child have tried to repeal it more than 50 times. We have been working since harry truman to have a foundation to provide quality, Affordable Health care. We have to get the outofpocket costs down, we had to begin to get the Prescription Drug costs down, but that is built on the base of having the Affordable Care act. Drug costescription went up 12 last year. This is just unsustainable. And i know it is hard because ive got the scars to prove it. We have got to get those costs in some way controlled, otherwise it will be impossible for people, whether they are in medicare or medicaid or private insurance or one of the exchanges, to be able to afford the drugs and treatments they deserve. And we are going to fight like crazy to give medicare the authority to negotiate with the Drug Companies, something that Drug Companies do with governments around the world. [applause] number one, we do need to deal with the caregiving crisis. I need people everywhere who are having so many challenges. I want to give a tax credit to people taking care of someone with alzheimers, or some other condition that is did g. Bilitatn i also think we need to pay more attention to untreated Mental Health problems, something that [applause] incrediblehere is an part of this experience running for president maybe it is just me, but im sure my other friends could tell you similar stories, maybe because we are women, i dont know. People tell you the most intimate and personal things. In may just be a handshake for 20 seconds or a minute, and they will look at you, and say, my son has a drug problem, and we cannot find any help. Is there anything you know that we can do . Or, my brother has been suffering from schizophrenia, and we cannot afford any help, is there anything you can do . If you listen to enough stories like that, particularly about Mental Health and Substance Abuse, you know we have to do more. Towill be a high priority try to get the resources in balance with the problems, so we have enough treatment, recovery programs, treatment, intervention. Again, something i have been talkingabout, and through policy, to make sure we get the right mix. I do not want to just be the president to deal with the thick problems in the headlines, although obviously that is a huge part of the job. I want to figure out if there are ways we can help those problems that keep you up at night the worries that families sit around the Kitchen Table and try to puzzle through. [applause] to do,have a lot of work but we also have to defend the progress that we have made in making sure that our country is moving forward, protecting, and recognizing the rights of all of our citizens. I have learned to listen to what people say when they run for office because they may actually try to do it. When you listen to the attacks on human rights and civil rights, and womens rights, and gay rights, and immigrants workers rights, Pay Attention. I will tell you right now, i will defend a womans right to choose. I will defend plan to parenthood planned parenthood. [applause] [cheering] you know, what we saw in Colorado Springs other night was just terrific. Horrific. We have to stand up for the rights of women to get the health care that they need. Soldierstrong, strong and fighters in pursuit of that, behind me. I will also defend Marriage Equality and work against continuing discrimination against the lgbt community. [applause] it makes no sense. Married on saturday and fired on monday and many places in america. We have to change that. I will also defend Voting Rights. Who knew we would have to still defending Voting Rights in the 21st century. Because of the Supreme Courts rejection of congress as we authorization and george w. Signing of the authorization, so many states across our country are trying to suppress the right to vote. Thosely will we defend who are put into that difficult position, i want to make it possible for every 18yearold to be absolutely registered upon turning 18, and make that the law of the land, unless they opt out, so young people start getting involved in the. Lectoral process i will do everything i can to overturn citizens united, which is corrupting our politics. [applause] it is likely the next president will have 13 Supreme Court justice appointments. I will appoint people who care more about an individuals right to vote than a corporations right to buy an election. [applause] defend Social Security against privatization, defend medicare against vouchers ization, and defend the v. A. We will not allow republicans to privatize the v. A. And move away from providing those services to our vets. I will keep working for comprehensive Immigration Reform with a path to citizenship. I will work and promoting criminal Justice Reform and corrections reform. I am hopeful that we can get some bipartisan solutions, even before the end of this term. Againstontinue to fight the gun lobby, on behalf of Safety Measures in america. [applause] you know, when you have 90 people a day dying from gun ,iolence homicide, suicide tragic, avoidable accidents. 3,000 people per year if Something Elsewhere killing 33,000 americans, we would say hey, we need to do something. What we need to do our comprehensive background checks, closing the gun show loophole, the online loophole, what is now called the charleston loophole. Ending immunity for gun makers and sellers. We know how hard this is. Look at what is happening right now. There is a bill that would prohibit individuals on the nofly list from buying a weapon. Republicans will not let it come for a vote. If someone isk, too dangerous to fly, they are too dangerous to buy a gun. [applause] very least, we should try to restrain that from happening. To do. Worked t we need to continue to lead around the world. Im very committed to leading with our values, advancing our interests, furthering our security. I intend to do it in a way that leads with both strength and smarts. We do have some real challenges and threats out there that we t ignore. K obviously, a lot of attention being paid to isis. It needs to be defeated. It has to be wiped out. That will take time and american leadership. It is something that we cannot ignore. That does not mean that we put american troops in either syria or iraq. I am against that. Who areblicans promoting it are not serious about what we need to do, and how best to try to limit the spread of this radical jihadist violent extremism. There is a lot to do, my friends. I can only hope that you will work hard with me through the primaries and the caucuses, into the general election. It will be a hard journey. There is no doubt about that. So much is at stake. It is perversely flattering that i get so much attention from the other side. It seemed like they had a lot to say about me being secretary of state, none of that good, so i sent them a copy of my book, hard choices. I said, if you want to know how to put together an International Coalition to impose crippling sanctions on iran, you can read about it. I even suggested there were so many of them that they could form a book club, and read it together. [applause] it probably wont surprise you to hear that i did not get one thank you note. [laughter] really, the selection is , for me, about our children, and now i can say, grandchildren. Becauseon i say that is i want to be sure that the promise of our country that i was raised to believe in will be there for generations to calm. I and the granddaughter of a factory worker from scranton, pennsylvania, who went to work every single day in the scranton lace mills. He worked really hard, and he did it to support his family, but also because he wanted his three sons to have a better life. They did. They all went to college. Then, my dad graduated in the middle of the depression, heard there was a job in chicago, got there, got the job, became a salesman, went into the navy, came out, and started a Small Business. He always believed that his hard work would be rewarded and his freedom, guaranteed. My mom had a very different life. She was rejected and abandoned from her parents, had to live with grandparents who did not want her. Then, by the age of 14 was id. King as a housema i did not know any of this until i was older. I was shocked. It was really different from the solid life that she gave me. I asked her, how did you do it . She said, along the way, people were kind to me. Not my family, but a teacher, even the woman whose house i worked in. She too always believed in that promise of our country. Now, i have this amazing going to doand im everything i can, as will my husband, to make sure she has every opportunity she can possibly take advantage of. You know what, that is not enough. It really matters what kind of country she becomes an adult and , and what kind of world is out there waiting for her. I do not think you should have to be the granddaughter of a former president to have the made real forrica you. I think you should be the granddaughter of a factory worker, truck driver, and all other children. Lets make it possible once again for everyone. [applause] join me. It will be my vision as your president. Thank you all very much. [applause] cspan takes you on the road to the white house, and into the classroom.
