Congressman, where do you want to start . You have a lot of interesting things to talk about. Lets start with this. Nobody is interested in this, at least opponents the condensate back, the polls say that the majority of people are interested and they want to know what the answers are. But it seems like there has been politicized by its going on. Today seemed like it was much more friendly, to say the least. Was that your impression . The first thing that you have to understand is that adam schiff, congressman shipped is the one that asked for this hearing. So we were talking to what the results were being put out. And i think it was a pretty bipartisan hearing. We probably asked a few tougher questions. But Ranking Member<\/a> cummings was really strong about the accountability that the state department has in enforcing some of these suggestions and recommendations that the board of standards and review has given to the state department that have not been carried out. In some of these have gone back to 1983 after the beirut bombing and after the african bombing in 1999. And so we have pretty much put the state department on notice. The we will be checking back and checking to see if they are going along with these recommendations and actually doing them. How long is this process . How long will we be having more hearings from the special committee . On this particular, i would think that you would have it in the next 45 or 60 days to see where they are at on the recommendations. Tom pretty quick. If you go back to this account of a reveal, a lot of people are saying that they have lost a lot of things. They have never interviewed secretary clinton or eyewitnesses and to us it wasnt a very good report and the members are selected by the secretary of state, which in my opinion does not make them an independent board, since the person that they are really looking at and what their communications and standards war is the one that selected them to be on the committee. And so we have uncovered some things and discuss some things today about the arb that i thought was very interesting. And also we had one individual on the state department that answered the questions that he was asked as best as the he could and he was not there during the attack, but he had been there. I dont know who the chairman has lined up to come in to testify, but i am sure that those and some potential witnesses could be called before the committee. This is coming the same pay that the first dose of an experimental ebola vaccine was given to a volunteer Health Worker<\/a>. This whole business about how dangerous ebola is, especially after the news yesterday, the president says this, the question is how much danger are we in, because a couple of weeks ago i heard a lot of doctors they do you have to be able to touch somebody. So for us, what is the situation and the danger . Its minimum if nonexistent. As we have said many times, the situation in west africa is an unfortunate result of the lack of a Health Care System<\/a> that was able early on in the outbreak to be able to adequately identify and isolate entry and protect Health Care Workers<\/a> and as it started to spread, it spread in the way with expotential, which meant a more rapid rate than the control mechanisms or the capabilities and resources to actually do Infection Control<\/a>, they were able to essentially stop it. The more i got out of control, the more dire the situation is and that really is the function of the inability to be able to do good Infection Control<\/a> because of the lack of a good Health Care System<\/a>, unfortunately, in those countries. So we have to ask what are the dangers here and certainly there is a possibility that someone who is from a west african country and got infected their, on a plane, when they got to their destination, and that could be washington or new york or london or peer us, that having got sick, that they went to the emergency room and unfortunately before people recognize what it was, they acted a Health Worker<\/a> or a nurse or something. But there wont be an outbreak here. That is the question that ive never heard anyone ask, what is the just nation. Between the time that i actually get a virus and i start feeling ill . Well, somewhere between eight and 10 days that it can range between two to 21 days and the outer limit of exposure to the development of disease is about 21 days. But the point i was making that even someone came here and did get sick care, it is extraordinarily unlikely that there would be an outbreak because we have the capability of doing the proper isolation containment and Infection Control<\/a>. So when you ask Health Worker<\/a>s what the dangers are, it is not that we are taking it likely but it is a reflection of the fact that the problem in west africa really relates greatly to the disparity of the ability of a country in west africa to handle Infection Control<\/a> compared to a country that has a good Health Care System<\/a> that can handle it. Tom you talk about the example that a lot of people use, which is someone gets on an airplane, and you travel and we have a here in the u. S. But you also wrote an article about the fact that ebola could be weaponize. Can you tell me about that . I didnt write an article, but i answered a question that it could be weaponize and my response to the senator was that any buyers that you wanted to weaponize it, that anyone could weaponize it, which means you can make it in a way that it can cause a great deal of harm and destruction in society. And so when you go back to the air of the cold war, and it is very clear from intelligence that the soviets were stockpiling a number of microbes like smallpox, botulism, and even fever viruses which in food ebola, include the possibility of doing weapons of mass destruction. That is a hypothetical. They did and they never used it, thank goodness, but in answer to the question, of course it could be done. In my mind he is getting done what needs to be getting done. Whether it be balanced budget or immigration. It seems that the knuckleheads are ruling the roost. I have to say that there are a lot of knuckleheads in the senate and the republicancontrolled house has passed 360 bills and move them along to the senate where harry reid buries them in the bottom of his desk drawer and they never see the light of day. So that a little bit unfair to john boehner. We will see if there is a better argument after the midterm election. Lets get both of your reactions to this.
