Attorneys representing the Baltimore Police officers who were charged in his death have filed a motion to have this move from the city. The attorneys have argued that the antipolice rhetoric emanating from the citys left wing leaders have made it impossible for the clients to receive a fair trial in baltimore. The campaign has also made it impossible for police to fight an epidemic of violence in the city. Correspondent Leland Vittert has the report. Across baltimore the police tape of another murder is now a daily occurrence. More than three dozen people so far this month. Many more shot and wounded. As a burnedout individual for the riots, things have largely returned to normal. A lot of folks hanging around in the streets we are told that most dont have jobs. What is missing is the police who many say havent shown up in a while and the numbers say they are doing the same job that they used to. Arrests are down to 2 over the same time last year and the very folks who stood here and protested to police about this say that they need them back. All of them get a paycheck from the city of baltimore. In a statement by the union today, the police say that they are under siege in every quarter. They are more afraid of going to jail for doing their jobs properly and they are of getting shot on duty. Sources say that rankandfile officers are most angry with Marilyn Mosby and Stephanie Rawlings blake who sources say ordered police to stand down and let rioters loot during last months unrest. How is it that this is the deadliest in 15 years and how is that anything other than a failure of your policies . There are a lot of reasons why we are having a surge in violence. Is that because the police are doing less enact. As i said before there are a lot of reasons why. Is that one of them . Arrests are down 50 . Civil rights activists say that violence in baltimore is only going to get worse. We should not be that close to the edge.
