But trump will probably win arizona. He only needs 55 of the delegates to get to the magic number of 1,237. Ted cruz is great in the plains states and the caucuses. John kasich is betting he can stop donald trump from getting 50 in the New England States like maryland, delaware, new york, pennsylvania. You can see some of the rubio supporters moving into the cruz camp. He will do well in the western states that are more lib tear crane minded which will be a natural fit for ted cruz. Its still not enough. Donald trump is going to move forward in arizona where he has solid support. You are talking about new york, new jersey, he might fall short right before and might not get to that magic number. But then it could end up as a contested convention which i something i think republicans are thinking this might be the best solution. But for the most part there are people who feel uneasy about putting this in the hands of delegates and state party officials. If nobody has the majority of delegates, including those bound to candidates that are now out, and the most marco rubio has the most number of the candidates who are now out, then it comes down to what happens after the first ballot. Charles on the first ballot when the delegates vote, even for the candidates who arent any more rsh. They are obligated to vote for the people they were initially assigned to, right . In most states thats the case. They can release the delegates and say go with john kasich or ted cruz. Charles even in the first round . With just a few states. In most states after the first ballot they are unbound and they can do what they please. Charles if donald trump is close, say 100 delegates away, there is a chance he can get this on the first ballot. I cant think of anything crazier for the Republican Party than to try to take it away from him if hes within 100 delegates. People are look at way these races have gone and thats where they think it may end up. I cant imagine anything stupider than trying to do that. Every time someone has tried to do that, democrats got smashed. Charles but there were candidates that went in without the most delegates and they emerged the nominee. If you have a big margin over the numbers what we heard is ted cruz is busily lining up the delegates that are so far committed to rubio and other candidates that left the race base wants to be the guy that moves them. Charles which is a smart move on his part. You have might call them the silent majority. What about the 60 of people who did not vote for donald trump. They have say our votes counts, too. How come everybody is discounting the fact i didnt vote for donald trump. Thats the difficult you have when you start out with 18 candidates. Because that vote has consistently been split, thats why a contested convention maybe more representative if those delegates do in fact and they are open and able to choose whom they are able to go to after that. There is a sense of yes they are doing a wonderful job of reaching out to the working class. At the same time, we have to somehow keep part of that Republican Base which includes the establishment.
