FBC MONEY With Melissa Francis September 23, 2014

The overall effort will take time. There will be challenges ahead. Well do what is necessary to take the fight to this terrorist group, for the security of country and the region and for the entire world. Melissa president obama pledging to do what is necessary, despite repeated claims that he wont use u. S. Ground troops. Here to discuss, our very own charlie gasparino, david asman and wall street journal vdag, veronica daguerre. Allstar panel. What do you think of this . Dont tweet when youre on. That cant possibly be important. You never know. I dont trust a lot of what the president says regarding foreign policy. His statements are uniformly vapid often. Not say uniformly often. Melissa he said says things and he doesnt do it. We told him that we might bomb if we didnt get permission. You want to get rid of him, have more resolve. Melissa are you as critical as this guy . Of course. First of all he starts out with untrue premise, we wont have boots on the ground. We have boots on the ground. Who is spotting planes. Spotters are on the ground. Anybody who doesnt think special forces is not there on the ground. The problem well have to have some boots on the ground whether they go with a u. S. Uniform or not to do mopup. If you have strikes like this, even if successful strikes, a lot of our generals say good strikes, theyre hitting targets, you have to have mop up afterwards to make sure we can secure the territory and make sure, by the way the military thinks there will be a war here. I would trust the military experts more than i would even the politicians. Melissa do you give him credit, 22 strikes overnight hitting syria . Identifying khorasan. He didnt do it. Our military did. He took out some assets. That is important. Thats what we need to do. This whole idea to kill isis, to kill the idea is lot bigger project than a few bombs. This is a whole ideology well have to figure out how to deal with it. We havent heard strategy. I dont think we should be in the position of you know, some sort of politically correct, multicultural approach to isis. Theyre an enemy. They should be destroyed at some point, if they pose a threat, particularly to the homeland. Melissa you cant behead americans and post a video and not expect to have bombs not dropped on your head, right . The thing theyre as idiotic as they are barbaric. So they do things like this. The bad news we should not discount, even worse news, the fact there is another al qaeda group. Of course we were told by the president , al qaeda is dead. Detroit is alive. Of course detroit is dead, al qaeda is alive. Al qaeda was planning attack on u. S. Soil. Melissa youre talking about khorasan, a splinter group. At 4 00, forgive for selfpromotion. Well have Catherine Herridge on. She knows more about these groups than anybody. She will talk more about this. Melissa the administration pulling off a major move here at home of the Treasury Department announcing strict new rules on corporate relocation, cracking down on Companies Moving overseas for tax purposes. V tag, let you go first. This is the news dump last night right before we heard about these bombings. It didnt go by unnoticed in corporate world. A lot of people were watching this. A lot of people were expecting change. People thinking about inversions put them on hold because of uncertainty in washington. Well see more of that. People waiting to understand what the new regulations are, a little bit closer. But you know, looking ahead, i think this is really, issue, tough issue that companies have to deal with. I think long term there will need to be some sort of tax reform, whatever that is. Good luck. Might be a shortterm fix. Whenever i hear the word reform i look for my wallet. I am not, judge napolitano would know better than me. He is a pretty smart lawyer. Is this legal . The Treasury Department came in and literally by fiat changed tax law without any legislation. I think it is grossly irs is owned by the obama administration. Didnt you realize that . I know that part. What im saying, im raising a, raising a point that is somewhat cynical, rhetorical. Is this legal . Can i mention one name also . Senator Chuck Schumer supposed to represent interests of businesses among others in new york. A lot of businesses in new york, theyre the ones who pay most of the taxes. In fact what is happening, they come to say to him, we have to have lower tax rates, highest in the world. You have to lower them to attract more businesses to the new york like ads say you should. What does he do . He comes up with a rule making tax code far more complex and Chuck Schumer got hundreds of thousands of dollars ought of wall street for years, when it came time to do something logical. He gave them a pass on sleeze i stuff and do something logical to reform Something Like doddfrank he didnt do it. He fell down on the job. Melissa seeing how other half lives, shares seeing a new low, 6 dip for a new trade. Dont cry for jack ma. He will be okay. The stock fell 28 above the ipo price. Little guy gets hit. Retail investor who came in. Be honest, our very own Anthony Scaramucci said it could have been priced well into the 70s. Theoretically they left money on the table. You get a pop, whenever you do that. The small investor and gets really nasty, by small investors should stay away despite hype of these things. You can only get it after it starts trading in secondary market. Melissa at 92. When hedge fund and everybody else are poised to hit a button and sell. They chased it. They chased it. This is scary part. We said this a million times on fox business. The small investor chased this to 99. As soon as 99. 78, almost a hundred, the hedge funds flipped stock. It might be a great company. You wait a little while to get into. This is one way the little guy is getting screwed on this. We had an investor on yesterday. Look what happened. The fed is pumping out cash like crazy. Fueling the m a market which in large part true. What happened to the money a lot goes into china. Melissa let veronica get in. What are they buying before they buy potential risk because there is a lot of risk right out of the gate. If youre a little guy you can make a lot of money in this market, doing two things. Buy index funds. Watch fox business. Well tell you when this thing starts to crater. Melissa herbalife climbing a big way, 8 after some carl icahn rumors put to rest by charlie gasparino. Shareholders had charlie to thank for all of this. What can you tell us . I can only tell you as of last night, i know this because of sources close to carl icahn. Melissa there was rumor he sold and stock tanked. You came in. The other rumor he bought put options because he was preparing to blow out of his position and make money on the downside. What we know, neither of those facts are true as of now. Now, to be honest, the one that is really preposterous the fact that he sold the shares. He is on the board of directors, that would be like, he would have file stuff, it would be very crazy for him to do that. He would have to relinquish his board seats. That was kind of absurd but the put option part was plausible but engen, what we know as of last night. Why do i hedge this . Because i dont know what he will do in the future. Markets change. As of last night, that did not happen. You turned it around and some other ripoff Financial Network had to give you credit for that. Our competitor. Im going to say one thing. Melissa uhoh. Cnbc gave us credit. Melissa i dont like that name. That ace good thing. They did the honorable ink thing. There are newspapers where i worked i will not names. Melissa i think i did. That will not give us credit. I think that is not playing fair. Melissa thanks, guys. Chilling new numbers out of the cdc. A new warning as the world embraces more than a million case of ebola in a few short months. Save the day, syria. U. S. Launches a attack on terrorist groups there. We warned them we were coming. Did we give terrorist as leg up by letting them know . Piles of money coming right up. vo you are a business pro. Solver of the slice. Teacher of the unteachable. You lower handicaps. And raise hopes. And you. Rent from national. Because only national lets you choose any car in the aisle. And go. You can even take a fullsize or above, and still pay the midsize price. pro nice drive. vo well played, business pro. Well played. Go national. Go like a pro. Melissa the United States escalating the fight against isis by launching an expansive airstrike attack in syria alongside five arab nations. Fox newss conor powell live at our jerusalem bauer bureau with the latest. Melissa, the pentagon described a airstrikes as successful start against islamic extremists but cautioned that this is beginning of what will be a very long and Difficult Campaign against Extremist Groups like isis. The now the pentagon, in the u. S. Was joined by five arab countries. They pounded isis militants and other Extremist Groups by sea and air with missile strikes. U. S. Says 14 isis targets were hit mostly around a militant strong hold of raqqa which is a large syrian city. They hit eight sights linked to the Khorasan Group, which is a terror outfit made up of al qaeda members in syria. This group they say pose as serious threat to the United States. They are not clear what damage was done to either group. Theyre assessing results of airstrikes. But the coalition of five arab countries joining fight, being hailed as a positive step against isis and these militants. U. S. Officials say in bahrain, qatar, saudi arabia, jordan and u. A. E. All participated in the airstrikes in last 24 hours. All are sunni muslim countries like isis and al qaeda and provided weapons and support to Syrian Rebels in the past. It is important to have these sunni muslim countries involved in the fight. As all of this is going on, melissa, the refugees streaming out of syria continue now. More than 150,000 Syrian Refugees have left syria, moved into turkey, just in the last week or some this is as isis continues to expand. The situation in syria, even with these airstrikes and pressure on them in iraq is not really doing much to sort of blunt or damage isis so far. They are still very strong and very resilient and very, very dangerous, melissa, in syria and in iraq. Melissa conor, thank you so much. Although the arab nations participated in airstrikes against isis the United States flew solo in its attack against the Khorasan Group. Targets of that attack including explosive and munitions facility, commandandcontrol facilities and even Training Camps but did we give the terrorists an advantage by warning the Syrian Government about the impending attacks . Colonel bill cowan is a fox news military analyst and retired u. S. Marine colonel. Brad blakeman is the former Deputy Assistant to president george w. Bush. They both join me now. Colonel, let me start with you, what about the this idea that we called and warned them, and that they then played out over the radio as i heard reports this morning . They broadcast the fact that we were on our way . Does that make sense . Yeah, great question. What a wonderful question, melissa. I havent heard anybody else even broach that subject. What i tend to think if we did it right, if we told the syrians the very moment indeed that our aircraft were in the air, then we probably didnt have, did not give too much advance notice either to isis or the other group we were coming. But if we waited, did it half an hour or 45 minutes or so before, there is always the chance that isis and Khorasan Group heard about it and were therefore prepared. Dierdre brad, what do you think about the idea, there are two ways to look at the way the president has been handling this on one hand some say we have this save the day military policy, we say were coming, were coming, long before we actually show up. Others look at that say, it is slow, it is deliberate, wellthought out that it communicates ven. What do you think . Which side do you come down on . I come down on weakness. We wouldnt have had isis problem we had had the president not withdrawn from iraq. He created an environment which isis took hold. The president knew about isis long before the American People did. Why didnt he form the coalition then . Why did he let isis get powerful and take strongholds and now we have to go in and eradicate. The president used word manage. You dont manage the enemy. You destroy the enemy. The president telegraphed this is policy that will go long for years after he is president. Melissa what about this coalition . It was made we have arab states flying alongside of us with mission but at the same time it is a small number and feels a little wobbly. What do you make of it . Were grateful for whatever participation there was on the part of the coalition. We dont know to what extent they did things. I do believe the jordanians flew actual airstrikes. Perhaps other countries did too. I wont be surprised if many so of them didnt. The real problem the coalition was missing two most important people out there, the egyptians and turks. Neither of them for whatever reason is part of what were doing. If theyre not part of what were doing, it will hinder ability to accomplish objectives we want to accomplish, particularly with respect to turkey which is at border. Melissa that is true. Many noted turkeys absence and commenting on it. Brad, how significant is it . I think it is very significant. The colonel hit it right on the head. By missing Strategic Partners we tie with one hand behind our back and brits are not there either. We shouldnt applaud arabs for policing their neighborhood. If they did a good job in the first place, we wouldnt take the actions weve been taking. The fact is they should have been there long before we showed up. The colonel is right, well see what actual participation they did. Melissa thanks to both of you. More than half the states are seeing gas prices under 3. Better fill up more. Turmoil in the middle east could have you paying more soon. With all the talk about isis the president stopped at u. S. Summit to talk climate change. Smart money on the way. Can you start tomorrow . Yes sir. Alright. Lets share the news tomorrow. Today we failrly busy. Tomorrow were booked solid. We close on the house tomorrow. I want one of these opened up. Because tomorow we go live. Its a day full of promise. And often, that day arrives by train. Big day today . Even bigger one tomorrow. When csx trains move forward, so does the rest of the economy. Row moves. No. Not exactly. [ garage door opening ] [ sighs ] honey, havent i asked you to please use the we dont have a reception entrance. [ male announcer ] ship a pak via Fedex Express saverĀ® for as low as 7. 50. Melissa president obama speaking at the United Nations Climate Action summit moments ago, saying that the u. S. And the world need to take more action to fight Global Warming. Take a listen. So the climate is changing faster than our efforts to address it. The alarm bells keep ringing. Our citizens keep marching. We can not pretend we do not hear them. We have to answer the call. Melissa president obama says he is ready to lead a new set of Global Climate change negotiations. He is urging major, and emerging economies to get on board saying quote, nobody get as pass. Charlie snoozing next to me in case youre wondering what the nice noise is. When it comes to clean energy, no industry is more notorious than coal. After years of onerous regulations by the obama administration, coal country is fighting back. Jeff flock in hammond, indiana. Jeff . May be as a result of those regulations youre talking about that will result in a resurgence of coal. Take a look at what is going on behind me. This is the deconstruction of a coalfired plant. It is the state line generating plant on the state line between indiana and illinois. It was at one time one of the te biggest coalfired generating plants in the wording being shut down now as a result of regulations but i will tell you, melissa, it may be time to dust off the coal stocks. Look what they have done over the course of past five years, not very good. But because of the new regulations, those scrubbers that plants have to install, and all of the stuff, environmental regulations it made it possible to again burn some of the dirtiest coal out there, comes from the illinois basin. If you look at the map, you see the illinois basin. That is a huge deposit of coal. Second largest of coal deposit in the u. S. Estimates by the government it has enough coal to last us for 160 years. And now it is viable again. According to the government, because of these regulations, that forcing, you know, these scrubbers and that the solve thing make plants cleaner, again this coal can be burned in the u. S. They estimate that over the course of the next 20, 30 years or so, the percentage of coal that will come from illinois, the president s home state i might point out, is going to increase. So, sometimes the law of unintended consequences may be benefits everybody. I dont know. How you look at that. I dont know. Jeff flock, thank you so much. I will talk to my panel about it, charlie, david, veronica are back with me. Were saudi arabia of coal. We have more coal than anything else as much as analogy to saudi arabia and their oil. More coal than air. Melissa were choking it to death. Jeff flock says inadvertently coming back anyway. What do you think . What gets me hypocrisy. The president keeps his office at 80 degrees fahrenheit all winter long because he wants hawaii but wants america to go cold because coal is dirty. Hypocrisy. This president clearly wants to put cowell out of business. He said so. He said so before he was president. I was falling asleep during his speech. Melissa i know. I woke up when i saw those red arrows going down on the coal stocks. Melissa on the stock. We should throw that again. That isnt amazing he has destroyed an industry. What i do
