FBC The Intelligence Report With Trish Regan May 5, 2016

This is a country where we speak english, not spanish. Trish will her tactics work . Our political allstars are here. Look at hillarys mounting legal troubles. Federal judge may order her to testify under oath about her secret email server. Justice Department Warning that north terrell line bathroom law violates their civil rights. The not the rights of women who dont want men in the bathroom but those who want to use whatever bathroom they want. Political Correctness Police want to make sure you celebrate appropriately, appropriately. According to them, no sombreros, or fake moustaches or eating at chipolte. What can you do . To our top story, donald trump prepping for battle with Hillary Clinton in the general election. New poll says it could be a top road for victory with hillary topping him by 13 points. But before the Clinton Campaign gets too excited take a look at these numbers. Back in july, last summer, trump polled 6 . Four months later, polling at 27 . In march he rose to nearly 36 . And today he is at nearly 47 . So with a track record like that, the clinton camp should be nervous but is she . A handful. A lot going on. After picking up little bit of momentum in indiana. Republican strategist Ford Oconnell and democratic strategist, matthew lipman. Matt, is hillary worried about trump . I think according to the poll numbers she shouldnt be worried. She has to work obviously very hard and cant take anything for granted but the poll numbers are pretty overwhelming. I dont see a path to victory for trump at this point. Ii dont see how that changes given what he said. Trish you hear that and you say she shouldnt be worried but lets not forget all the people that were saying that last summer. You saw the numbers i just showed about the lack of momentum he had. Right. Trish but it built, it built, it built. Here we are today, he is presumptive nomknee. Ford, what is it that he could potentially do to her . What is he represent in terms of a threat to the democratic establishment . Well, lets say this. He starts out as 6040 underdog to Hillary Clinton. But im extremely bullish on electoral chances. Here is why. He is master of media. Near perfectworking class message. Hillary has no idea how to run against him. For donald trump nothing is out of bound. If he can win florida, ohio, pennsylvania, carry States Romney did in 2012. That is 273 electoral votes. Hillary would be smart not to underestimate trumps true assets. Trish i think she should as well. I would be worried if i were in the hillary camp there is a lot of voters on democratic side of things feel like they have no real economic chance. In other words they may have lost their job to a plant that opened in mexico or in china. So when trump starts talking like he does, and he blames places like mexico and china for their misfortune, i wonder if there will be crossover effect . Do you think she is looking into this . Is she looking into it . Maybe. What youre saying about trump may be winning florida, there is zero indication that this is even close to possible. Lets remember that hillarys numbers in those states that you mentioned are overwhelming. Right now hillary is winning state like utah. You could talk about trump winning republican nomination, obviously from where we were a year ago comes as a big surprise, but his negatives are so high. Trish so are hers. 80 of the latinos not nearly as high. Lets be accurate. 80 of the africanamericans. 70 of the women view trump very unfavorably. Why would that change . Matt, great point hire. To trishs point. He has a great White Working Class message, okay. If he makes inroads in the industrial midwest and able to capture 63 of the white vote. Guess what is is next president of the united states. Granted only happened once in last 30 years. 1984. Okay. It could actually happen. The reason i always talked about florida, if he can win florida he will kept his white cant win florida. Hold on. His cult of personality while still mitigating his losses with female voters around hispanic. I disagree with you he can win florida. I do think it will be extremely close in florida. Let me say this. Trish hang on, matt. Youre on this program. Okay. Trish we see voters time and time again they choose the economy as their number one issue. And we have seen eight years of next to nothing when it comes to growth for this economy. How is it, matt, that you think voters are willing to give a Democratic Administration another chance, given their lot in life now . Wow, so first of all that is very loaded question. Unemployment rate has been cut practically in half since obama became president. That is number one. Number two, hillary, as you have seen from every single poll, you can tell me whatever you want, she is up by 13 points against donald trump. The people trump speaks ill of which is pretty much everybody are not going to change their minds. One other point ford is not telling you that i should, more than 50 of white men view unfavorably. Trish before we get into that, i just want to challenge you on some. Economic stuff. 5 aint what it used to be. You heard me say that again over and over again on this show. That is because, you know, when we look at Unemployment Rate now, were not talking about wages. Wages havent budged in 20 years. Were not talking about the Labor Participation rate, a rate that is hasnt been this poor a showing in decades. So youre not seeing a lot of the people that have just decided to give up, reflected in that jobs number when you talk about it, ford. That is absolutely right. The central question of this election for a lot of voters, particularly in the midwest, do you want government as usual . If so, what is in it for you . Democrats keep talking about 15 minimum wage. That means absolutely zilch if i live in defiance ohio and hillary killed my job especially if im a coal miner. There are a lot of manufacturing and trade jobs she will kind up killing supporting tpp. Trish for sure she will have real questions that need to be answered when it comes to this economy. She is up against the guy that is businessman. So, it is a threat and needs to be looking at it seriously if she wants to win in 2016. Ford, matt, thanks so much. See you in a little bit. Donald trump vows he can and will unite fractured Republican Party though he still has stinging words for his critics. Im confident that i can unite much of it. Some of it i dont want. There were statements made about me those people can go away and come back in eight years after we serve two terms but, honestly there are some people i really dont want. Trish there are plenty of critics out there with many declaring themselves as part of hashtag never ever trump movement. Some saying they vote for hillary over trump. Joining me with his thoughts, howie kurtz, host of mediabuzz on the Fox News Channel. Kind of amazing, howie. You and i are witnessing in a total change in these parties as we know it. To think that republicans would rather vote for a democrat than the guy theyre going to nominate . Particularly see this trish, among some highprofile conservative commentators who you might think even though trump wasnt their first, second, third, or 17th choice might get mind the nominee even though their choice is Hillary Clinton. Steve hayes, bill kristol, never ever trump raises his hand over the bible they will fight trump as gop nominee, theyre aware of this could help Hillary Clinton. Trish what is the big concern here . That he is going to lose and make it far more difficult howie for anybody to stand a shot on the republican side four years from now . I think the before trump clinched nomination part of the concern he would lead suicidal defeat. Now it is nominee. I think it is several things. It is personnal. They dont trust donald trump or view him with very low minimal regard as the politicians say. I think also that they believe with some justification that he is not a doctrine true blue conservative. Trump is remaking gop now that he is nominee. Mixture of some conservative and moderate and couple liberal positions. That doesnt sit well at National Review or weekly standard. But they run the risk, i think of being seen as out of up to with millions an millions of Republican Voters who did go for trump. Trish a lot of people asked that. How is it that we have gotten to this stage . I kind of think that a lot of republicans need to look back at themselves, look in the mirror in other words. N eight years of obamanomics. You have seen very little from republicans in what they have been able to do. We had a Government Shutdown in there. I think there is frustration on both sides but in some ways the republicans brought this on themselves. What do you say . I say there is a lot of truth to that. Look, i admire people who are standing on what they see as principle. They dont necessarily have to fall into line. Not their job, but at the same time, trump the reason that donald trump wrapped this thing up by early may is that he tapped into this anger and disgust and frustration with washington, with government, with politicians and with the Media Establishment as well. So to the extent that some of these folks on the right as well on the left, trump has critics on both sides, are saying were holding our nose. We could never ever, ever, back donald trump there are some voters out there who are going to say, well, you have not done for me either. Trish good, were glad youre not backing him. You never leave new york and you never leave washington. You dont understand problems in real america. Trish it is amazing i think youre right. Think that sometimes for a lot of those voters out there in the middle of the country, they actually are pleased that some of these establishment types arent going to back them. Trish new report shows number of illegal immigrant at the Mexican Border has skyrocketed. More than 20,000, 27,000 unaccompanied minors have been detained at Mexican Border so far this year. That is up 78 from last year. And that number is expected to jump this summer which could have Major Political implications because new study finds that the president s budget, sets aside 17,000 for every new illegal minor coming into the border this year. Which is more than the average annual Social Security retirement benefit. Fox news, strategic analyst, Lieutenant Colonel ralph peters joins me now. Colonel peters, there are some real Economic Issues at play here. You think about our debt load. 19 trillion and still counting. All of our entitlement programs that we still have to pay for. Now suddenly were talking about 17,000 for each of these unaccompanyied minors coming across the border into our country. Can we afford it . Well we cant afford everything the left wants to do, thats for certain. I think the number is really close to 18,000. I think it is 16,631 Something Like that. But the 17,631. The whole point american left is engaged in social engineering in broad scale. They are not interested in plight of nativeborn citizens of any race who worked hard their lives and paid their dues and relying on Social Security as at least as supplement to theyre retirement. You can, you know, run all the propaganda you want about poor, innocent Illegal Immigrants who are not supposed to be called Illegal Immigrants. Everybody forgets the honest decent americans who are struggling, under this onslaught, who have lost their jobs, seen their community, really destroyed in some cases where i come from, in central pennsylvania. Trish you think about it, i just think there has got to abettor way, right . There is a need, there is a need in this country to have people here willing to work for less than some americans might work in those jobs for and there are people that want to come here to have a better shot in life, that are not interested in engaging in crime or being in the drug trade or, all of the other lists of very bad things that some of these immigrants get tarnished by. So why dont we come up with a policy that allows people to come here legally, that are good people, hardworking people that want to be americans and say, enough with the rest of the other stuff . I think because both Political Parties have been captured by their extreme it wings. When you talk about building a wall on the southern border, that sounds good, but beware simple solutions. Walls historically dont work pretty well. The real answer to ilLegal Immigration of, doesnt just come across southern border. Comes through airports. Comes from the north. But ilLegal Immigration on southern border and elsewhere the answer is not in laredo, texas, it is in as you point ited out really is washington, d. C. If congress can not find the moral courage to legislate sensible new immigration laws and enforce the laws we have, to facilitate, facilitate Legal Immigration and residency for workers we need, to make it easier for a french man or woman with a phd in applied physics to get legal residency than currently for honduran single mother, unless we apply common sense to immigration we are going to continue to damage our country, to damage lawabiding american citizens, to damage lawabiding immigrants. Trish colonel, it is a wedge issue. Talk about the politics going on here because you have got the left, basis saying look, there is a huge proportion of americans voting americans that are hispanic now. And they dont like the sound of all this because they probably have relatives in a lot of these places they want to bring here and it comes across as antihispanic to talk about enforcing ones borders. So in a sense, Hillary Clinton and company theyre playing exactly to their base, are they not, when they talk about how its awful to really try and enforce border control. I think it is just the way the Obama Administration plays to the radical voices in the muslim community, the Democratic Party plays to the radical voices in the hispanic communities plural. Hispanicamericans come in many different flavors, many different individual heritage. They have widely varied degrees of success in assimulation, in financial success. So we cant just talk about hispanics if theyre one bloc but what we do have to do is get back to the rule of law, because whether were talking about hispanics or blacks or whites or east asians or native americans, the rule of law is fundamental to our country. So when i look at this issue, i look at it as a legal issue and by the way, when somebody blakes into my house im not obliged to put them on the deed. Trish there you go, colonel peters, thank you so much. Coming up, everyone, the justice Department Warning that north terrell line bathroom law violates their civil rights. Not civil rights of women who dont want men in bathrooms but the rights of men to use whatever bathroom they want. This as more than a Million People pledge to boycott target for its bathroom policy. That story is next. There are two billion people who dont have access to basic banking, but that is changing. At temenos, with the microsoft cloud, we can enable a banker to travel to the most remote locations with nothing but a phone and a tablet. Everywhere where theres a phone, you have a bank. Now a person is able to start a business, and employ somebody for the first time. The microsoft cloud helped us to bring banking to ten Million People in just two years. Its transforming our world. Trish Justice Department slamming north carolinas bathroom bill which requires people to use the restroom corresponding to birth gender because it quotes violates civil rights laws. So the law violates the rights of transgenders but what about the civil rights of women who dont want men in their bathroom . Do their rights matter at all . State of texas wants to know how target will protect women and children in their bathroom when they announced basically customers can use whatever they want. People say they will boycott the company over its policy. The stock is having rough go of it of late, in part because of this issue. Fox news radio host todd starnes. Good to have you here. You have a little bit of news to share with viewers. Youre the first to report that up until now target has been quiet. Havent been commenting on boycott with what kind impact, we learned a few moments ago target agreed to meet with representatives of the American Family association at their company headquarters. American Family Association will be delivering, hand delivering all of those petitions more than 1. 1 signatures from their customers. So well have to see how it plays out. And it should be a pretty interesting meeting in minneapolis. Trish should not have gotten to that point. Target realizing maybe this is isnt best thing to do. Right. Trish you have a Million People customers say they wont go to your store because you dont like taking stand on policy you have to wake up and Pay Attention as business. Texas attorney general ken paxton delivered exclusively to fox business a copy of that letter that he sent to target demanding to know what they were doing to protect women and children in the bathrooms in their texas stores. By sheer coincidence, just a couple of hours after that, last night there was a guy at target store in frisco, texas, who was caught trying to photograph or film a young girl in a dressing room at target. That guy is still on the loose. They have pictures of him. Theyre trying to hunt down the guy. That is what people are worried about. Theyre not worried about transgender folks. They are worried about bad apples take advantage in those rules. Trish in society we have certain norms. When you go to woman as restroom you expect to see other women and children. I think about my husband, james, taking one of our little girls, we were down in disney world to the restroom. They were out alone together. Okay, honey, go in and he waited outside for her to use the restroom and come out. You know he is not going to be able to do that. He could go in. No, he is not going in. There is certain sort of trust there as society. As a woman, if i am in the bathroom and i see a man in there, i going to let someone know. Will let authorities no. That is not supposed to be okay. Now women have no mechanism to do that . They dont according to government. Yesterday, this story wasnt picked up by national media, 50 families in pal len teen, illinois, filed a federal lawsuit against the department of education. Government, came in, Obama Administration, told the district you will allow a boy in girls dressing room. If you dont well pull your funding. Same ploy they applied in the state of north carolina. Theyre telling these folks, you will comply with these demands. Trish just taking it too far. Whatever happened to just, not saying anything . If a man dressed as woman because he thinks he is a woman, in the womens room no one is really going to complain about that. No one really cares. But, trish, look at big picture here. Weve been decon instructing gender past couple years this is part of that process. Sh a second were saying okay now for little boy or for 18yearold boy to be in same dressing room or locker room with girls . Trish it is not. It is just not. This is why people are reacting so strongly to all this, again, because we want common sense. Just a little. Just a little. A smidge. Trish todd, thank you so much. Great to see you. Coming up the veepstakes begins. Donald trump dropping hints who he will pick as his running mate. There is a good chance it will be someone who ran. He is even considering marco rubio. Really after all rubio said about him . Ted cruz the guy he called lyin ted, this election unlike any other, anything could happen, right . Stay with me. Im back in two. This might look like a zerogravity drop. But its actually a triumph of predictive analytics. Because of optum. Through Population Health data, they provide insights so doctors and hospitals can identify highrisk patients. Like me. Asthma. Potential hospital visit. So now thanks to optum, this asthma things under control. Gravity not so much. This is healthier, powered by optum. From health plans to providers to employers. We connect all parts of health care. Healthier is here. Would you consider rubio as vp . Well, again, i dont want to talk too much about it, bill, because i am considering a number of people, and i think were going to have a great choice. In the end, i havent made up my mind. But we do have a really good i would certainly consider him. But we do have a lot of candidates i think that would be very, very good. Marco and i have gotten along very well. Would the Campaign Slogan be vote for big done and little marco . Trish his former opponent marco rubio as vp. Also said he would consider john kasich and even the man he called lying ted. In fact, today he says theres a 40 chance his vp pick will be a former competitor in the race. Ford oconnell and matt back with me. What do you say . Who should he put on the ticket with him . Well, its all going to depend on the next ten weeks. Is he able to solidify the Republican Party . If he cant get conservatives to walk in the same direction as he is, hes going to have to go with someone like ted cruz. But what he would like to do is make sure 92 of republicans vote for him. And look at three people. Marco rubio, john kasich, and susan amartinez because theyre going to smooth over the problems you have with republicans. Trish i dont know how he goes back to marco rubio given all the things that marco said about him. Dont forget, it took a turn, really a nasty turn there in the campaign, and it didnt do marco any favors. How does he go back and put someone like marco there given all of that bad blood . Well, lets get to reality for a second. Anybody with a political future who wants to run for president in the future is not going to be Donald Trumps vp. So marco rubio, ted cruz, even will not run. Trish again, i point you back to those polls. Ill bet you anything. Trish im not taking side bets. I dont need to bet you anything. Im just saying to be a smart democrat in all of this, youre aware of the competition, and you need to recognize the potential threat. And when you look at his poll numbers from last summer, matt, he was nowhere. And suddenly he is now so, trish, do you want me to answer this . Trish yes. Tell me who you think he would be im going to trish matt, you dont need to be difficult about it. Im asking who would be a good pick for donald trump . Im telling you no, im telling you that the people that youre saying would be smart will not run with donald trump. So lets not kid ourselves into saying that ted cruz is going to run with donald trump. Were wasting our time. The people, Susana Martinez maybe. That would be a possibility. People like chris christie, thats a possibility. But no one whos planning on president in the future. Trish but maybe he doesnt want an establishment type, ford. I mean this is the guy who has branded himself on being mr. Antiestablishment. So really want someone from the party out there with you on the campaign trail . I mean what is it that you would be looking for . Ford, if you were advising him right now, would you say okay. Theres boxes you need to check. Maybe you should get a woman. Maybe you should get a hispanic or does none of that really matter in this very different kind of campaign . Let me sades. When you mentioned oprah somewhere along the way, you get oprah, were going to win. Well just put that one out there. Now, the problem is going to come down to whether or not hes going to able to unify the republican problem, hes going to have to find something that complements him such that it makes people less nervous about him. I will say this, though. The idea of picking a woman for the sake of being a woman is not necessarily the best situation because i dont think its going to bring you anymore female voters. Trish i think youre right on that. Everybody said hes got to pick a woman. But i think he has branded himself as this this maverick that doesnt necessarily need to do this sort of status quotype things. Yes. And that absolutely right. The bigger thing here is identity politics and somebody who can actually fluently speak spanish and beat back on george across the waves is going to be very, very important. The only question is, again, if hes actually looking that way and actually consolidated the party. Trish all right. Lets turn to Hillary Clinton, who still hasnt secured this yet. And, you know, bernie is hanging on for dear life and promising to take it all the way to the convention. But assuming she is the nominee, matt, have you thought about who should be on her ticket . Ill tell you whats interesting. You know, shes going to be campaigning with that vp nominee as well as bill clinton, and i think barack obama is going to be up there a lot. Its almost like there are three vps for hillary. And i think tim cane is a good choice, tom perez in the administration is a good choice. There are a few good choice of course a lot of people like Elizabeth Warren, i dont see that being the ticket. Hillary, its going to be an Interesting Campaign because shes going to have all of those people campaigning with her, which is unique. Trish i dont see Elizabeth Warren either, ford, and thats in part because elizabeth is interested in elizabeth and hillary is interested in hillary, and i dont see that being a match made in heaven. Ill make a 100 bet on air. Its going to be a man. Ten weeks from now, one of the polls say in the industrial midwest . If donald trump is running through there faster than georgia, its probably going to be brown or someone like tim cane who actually fluently speaks spanish or mark warner, who is great friends the clintons. But if she think so shes doing okay, she may want to torque up the hispanic goat and go with julian castro, because it creates a contrast on her. Trish interesting note on her needing a man. I like warner too. I do like mark warner too. I think mark warner would be good. Thank you. Trish coming up its Cinco De Mayo, but before you head out that for that margarita, they want to make sure that you celebrate quote appropriately. What does that mean . Well, they have a whole no. No. List for you. You cant even eat at chipotle . The Political Correctness that has gone totally insane. Ill see you back here right after ts equals great rates. Its a fact. Kind of like grandkids equals free tech support. Oh, look at you, so great to see you none of this works. Come on in. So what else is new . Humm. Shes doing good. She needs more care though. She wants to stay in her house. I dont know even where to start with that. First, lets take a look at your Financial Plan and see what we can do. Ok, so weve got. Well listen. Well talk. Well plan. Baird. Trish okay. Everyone, lets check out these markets for you. You can see we just took a dip into negative territory. Down about 15 points after having spent most of the session in the green. Dow off 16, s p down 10, nasdaq composite index off about nearly seven. Oil closing the day up moments ago. But i tell you its off its high from earlier in the session. Block exports. Also wildfires near canada region, thats creating production delays. Pretty unbelievable pictures are coming into us. Also gm, General Motors and lyft are set to begin testing selfdriving electric cars. Selfdriving. According to the wall street journal, going to start perhaps within a year in the yet to be named city. Were going to be right back with how youre supposed to celebrate Cinco De Mayo in a culturally appropriate way. Who knew . Trish Cinco De Mayo and if youre celebrating today, we just want to make sure you do it in a culturally appropriate way. On college campuses, a mexican Student Group at Brown University has put out a how to celebrate Cinco De Mayo guide. Here is the no. No. List for you. No wearing sombreros, no make mustaches, no eating at chipotle. Come on. You know why . Because that isnt Authentic Mexican and chipotle isnt Authentic Mexican business. Instead, you should eat a classic mexican novel, hold your friends accountable and eat at only Authentic Mexican businesses. Again, chipotle doesnt count. Heres the take on all of this. Brandnew news opinion commentary brought to you from news corp. Good to see you again. Theyre taking the fun out of everything. Isnt this completely crazy . Where are they going to find something as authentically mexican as Brown University . When did the sombreros ever hurt anybody . I feel sorry for the mexican hispanic students at that school who arent part of that group because theyre making their culture seem like fun expunges. If its fun, lets not do it. Trish and it makes people feel uncomfortable because then you get to the point of can i go out and have a margarita on Cinco De Mayo 12347 maybe not. Its not a authentic run place run by mexican immigrants. I cant eat there. Its nuts. Well, i know when i like to party, theres nothing i like to do more than to eat a high quality piece of literature. That sounds like a barrel of love. You know, my deal of the hispanicamericans that ive met is that they know how to have fun. Theyre happy and relaxed people and in general, they do not care about it. Lets not blame all hispanicamericans for a couple of campus crazies. Trish yeah, very true. But there are a lot of campus crazies out there these days. I want to turn to another story thats very much in the news today. Your former member of the british parliament. So i would like to get your take on the election thats happening in london right now. It looks like for the first time someone who is muslim will be elected to head a Major International western city. What do you think of this race . And what do you think of sadic con . Well, he is labor obviously like the democrats. The problem for most londonons i think americans would be shocked to learn not so much that hes a muslim but he chose to be a legal consultant for one of the 9 11 hijackers. Chose to why he made. And video has come out of him calling moderate muslims uncle toms. If youre a if you corporate with the government, he said we cant just talk to these uncle toms. That is, you know, pure racism and weve gone from johnson, the former mayor conservative. Hes american born. Weve gone from an american born london, britains greatest city to a man who chose to rep 9 11 bomber . Trish i mean you think of the challenges europe having right now. We report on them a lot, youve been a part of that report with germany, with resulted in women being raped, children being raped, the uk has similar problems. Do you worry at all because of his empathy, sympathy with islamic extremism . Which i can only assume if hes willing to represent one of these terror attackers, is that going to is that going to further create challenges . I think its a huge problem. If were looking at trying to get communities to integrate, now you have the mayor of london who have chosen to integrate and pay a full part in british life. Calling them uncle toms. This is the guy thats now the mayor of london. You have to ask trish you say now. You think hes going to get elected . Well, to correct myself, polls close at 5 00 p. M. Eastern. He is the overwhelming favorite. Hopefully london trish good thing you live in the u. S. Now. All right. Coming up donald trump says hes open to the auto idea of raising the minimum wage but come on. Hes a businessman. He knows how hard that is for Small Businesses. For mom and pop shops that can barrel pay their workers. So whats this all about . Trish donald trump says hes open to the idea of raising the minimum wage, but the presumptive gop nominee has bigger plans to get the economy back on its feet. Watch him here. What im really looking to do is get people great jobs so they make much more than money than that. Than they make more money than the 15. Trish i mean isnt that what it should be about . Hes got a point. Its a whole lot more than raising minimum wage. We need better jobs. We need better economic policies because Small Business owners say obamas regulations are just killing them. Take a look at these numbers. 21 of Small Businesses say regulations and red tape, they are their biggest problems. Why are we doing that to them . That number nearly doubled from when obama first took office. Joining me right now the ceo of cke restaurants. Also with me, former chairman of the council of economic advisors, austin. Good to see both of you guys. Andy, you made a whole lot of restaurants. Youve got a whole lot of people. Just raised its minimum wage to 15. Other states of course looking to do the same. How is that going to affect what you do . How will it affect your ability to run the business . Well, over a period of time, it will affect our franchisees who are really Small Business owners and own most of the restaurants. And it will raise labor costs to the point where the only way to deal with those increases is either in marginally profitable businesses will close. Some businesses may move out of state. If youre going to stay in business, youre going to increase your prices to the maximum amount you can. Youre going to be more efficient with the labor you keep, and youre going to autonomy whatever positions you can autonomy. Im not opposed to raising the minimum wage rationale. Im opposed to raising it to the point where lower skilled workers, working class americans, young people, minorities rebuke are losing the jobs they need to get on the ladder of success. And i think 15 an hour does that. Trish so somewhere in between . I mean you think that thats okay . Im just wondering if youre going to be a full on capitalist here you say labor and those who employ labor need to come to their own agreement on wages. Austin as an economist, and i know youre a liberal one, former member of the Economic Team there in the white house under president obama, how do you approach the minimum wage issue right now . What do you think . Well, you know, i think theres a massive amount of Economic Research about whats the impact of the minimum wage on the Income Distribution on the job market and things like that. And the the unspoken fact that comes out of that research, unspoken by both sides is the minimum wage does not seem to have very much of an employment effect. And it doesnt seem to have very much of an Income Distribution affect. Its a modest impact policy. Its why a lot of progressives try to advocate the minimum wage coupled with things like earn income tax credit or other factors. Because theyre trying to push the side that says it is a problem in the country when ordinary americans do not have buying power and do not have income because trish thats the problem. Without a doubt. But i dont know if we can can fix that, austin, with the minimum wage. Were back and forth on both of those. But i think the minimum wage itself is a bit of a red herring because its not trish so were in agreement. The assistance youve got to have better economic policies and less regulations so that you can enable businesses well, wait a minute. If youre asking me do i agree with donald trump . No, 100 the opposite. I think donald trump trish well, what you said is actually not that controversial. What he said, austin is that in this snippet you trish go ahead, andy. Thats great. But you selectively chose only one snippet that sounded reasonable. If you give me 30 seconds, i can give you snippets that will make you hide under your bed for fear that we will be at war. Trish i want to get andys side. Number one, there was a report that came out of the San Francisco fed. Not exactly a bash of conservative economic thought. It came out in december. They analyzed all the research and the studies and said, in fact, increasing the minimum wage materially reduced Job Opportunities for the least skilled workers. That was the important policy consideration because those are the workers it was supposed to help. So i disagree with austin 100 . Second, what donald trump said was wages are too high, taxes are too high, costs are too high. Pretty soon people are going to start firing workers. And whether or not theres some broadbased economic impact, what youre hurting here are working class americans. The skilled workers who needs the jobs the most. So maybe theres not enough of them why are those trish all upset and wrapped up. But i will tell you right now when those people lose their jobs, they feel affected. Why are those people trying to help and those are the americans that republicans are trying to hel h. Trish yeah, i think we can among those people trish we want to help. We want to help those people. Go ahead, austin. Absolutely. I would just and why are those people the strongest advocates of the minimum wage . If they are the ones who are hurt. Those people are not the strongest advocates of the minimum wage. There are people they are. Lower income people. Trish you know, austin, if someone told you you were going to lose your job because your boss had to pay you more, and you had a choice of keeping it and feeding your family or dealing with a higher minimum wage, my bet is you can keep that job. Austin, andrew, were going to take a break. Well be these little guys . They represent blood cells. And if you have afib an irregular heartbeat that may put you at five times greater risk of stroke they can pool together in the heart, forming a clot that can break free, and travel upstream to the brain where it can block blood flow and cause a stroke. But if you have afib thats not caused by a heart valve problem, pradaxa can help stop clots from forming. Pradaxa was better than warfarin at reducing the risk of stroke, in a Clinical Trial without the need for regular blood tests. And, in the rare event of an emergency, pradaxa is the only oral blood thinner other than warfarin with a specific reversal treatment to help your body clot normally again. Pradaxa is not for people who have had a heart valve replacement. Dont stop taking pradaxa without talking to your doctor. Stopping increases your risk of stroke or blood clots. Ask your doctor if you need to stop pradaxa before any planned medical or dental procedure. Pradaxa can cause serious, and sometimes, fatal bleeding. Dont take pradaxa if you have abnormal bleeding. And seek immediate medical care for unexpected signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Pradaxa may increase your bleeding risk if youre 75 or older, have kidney problems, stomach ulcers, a bleeding condition, or take certain medicines. Side effects with pradaxa can include indigestion, stomach pain, upset or burning. Go with pradaxa, the only blood thinner that lowers your stroke risk better than warfarin and has a specific reversal treatment. Eligible patients could pay as little as zero dollars on copay. Ask your doctor about pradaxa today. Trish how do you think donald trump should pick as his Vice President . Could it be trump cruz . Trump rubio . Head over to my facebook page. Tell me what you think. You can like my page at trish intel. Keep the conversation there all day long. 24 7. Liz claman over to you. Charlie gasparino said it should be trump claman. I think it would work. Its not the two red heads. Liz so weve eliminated me. Market gains just started eliminating themselves. Vice president generating within the last hour as wall street hesitates one day ahead of the all important april jobs report. Look at the dow jones industrials. Had been much higher.
