Originally from yemen, he has been the subject of an f. B. I. Investigation for over a year now. A series of proisis tweets first tipped off the feds. Now they say he has been attempting to recruit other terrorists and even was planning to kill u. S. Soldiers returning from the middle east. A department of justice official tells fox news these are not isolated incidents. There are dozens of others being investigated inside the United States right now. This coming as a brandnew threat against new yorks times square is revealed. A disturbing new report shows supporters of isis are being asked to use pipe bombs to attack american targets. Lawmakers are calling for drastic action to be taken against isis including new york congressman elliot engel who fears another
9 11style attack could be coming. I understand my colleagues are war weary. Im war weary. I understand the American People are war weary. Im war weary. But again, i think doing nothing would invite something very similar that happened to my city, new york city, on that fateful day of september 11, 2001. In keeping with that promise, as you mentioned brian, some are asking how can the white house say that, yet general dempsey say this . My view at this point is that this coalition is the appropriate way forward. I believe that will prove true. But if it fails to be true and if there are threats to the United States, then i of course would go back to the president and make a recommendation that may include the use of u. S. Military ground forces. They seem to be a house divided. If this coalition doesnt work, by the way, last night, in talking to his french counterpart, he said half of the troops in iraq,
half of those military combatants would not be able to actually continue the fight. So if that happens, if this coalition proves to be false hes saying ill go back to the president and suggest our own boots on the ground. And thats what youd expect. You want all the options on the table. The president seems to keep taking things off the table. At least general dempsey is being practical with this. Go back a couple of weeks, remember he said isis is one of the greatest threats ever. Then he got taken to the woodshed and he kind of backed that down. So it was refreshing and candid to hear him say there is a way we might actually have to see boots on the ground. Charles krauthammer has looked into his crystal ball and has analyzed it and sees three reasons why dempsey may have said we might have to put people there. Listen. Either the president wants not to do it, which appears to be the impression he was definitive in his speeches. This is not going to happen, no ground troops. And the military wants to go ahead and do it because it knows its going to need to at some point. Or obama is cleverly being the one who gives the good news and is having the general go out and talk about the inevitable bad news, the ground troops. Or the third possibility is these guys have no idea what theyre saying or doing and they cant agree on whats going on. Im for one hoping for the second. I think three is more realistic. On top of that, it is illogical to think 5,000 Free Syrian Army people training for over a year and a half inside saudi arabia as well as whats left of the iraqi army and nobody else so far who has put troops forward are going to be able to suppress and stop 30,000 isis fighters. Its illogical. There are troops on the ground. There are covert operations. And the president s theme here seems to be operating within a covert nature.
