The carolinas and love this city so much. It is now grieving. Grieving with the families who are left without loved ones. Nine people murdered here behind me in this church at bible study on wednesday night. Then today the suspect will be in court here in charleston South Carolina. He was extradited from North Carolina. 14 hours ago the suspect was arrested in shelby North Carolina thanks to a woman who is considered a hero because she potential slaved other lives. Debbie dills saw his picture yesterday by watching our show Fox Friends First and then fox friends saw the picture as the information unfolded as the description of the car taken at the surveillance video. She saw this guy and she calls her boss and says i think this is the suspect. Her boss while hes on the phone with her calls 911. Mean swhieflz following the meanwhile she was following the suspect in her car. Take a listen. I was on my way to work i was praying for those people and families there. He looked like a young boy. I believe it was the lord. I believe god intervened to help me know that it was him. I am going to tell you, i am no hero. I was scared. I was scared. Lets take a look at the moments before the shooting happened on wednesday night in this church behind me. One of the victims who is no longer with us used snap chat to post this video on social media. It shows the gunman sitting there at the table in bible study then he stands up after an hour of being at bible study and vents about African Americans, racist comments. He said quote you are taking over our country and you have to go. Then he pulled out his gun and he shot nine people. Police here were led to Columbia South carolina where the suspect grew up. In his moms house they found anti African American videos. One of the roommates before he moved into his mom says that he was pro segregation. The community was out here at the church yesterday reacting to all of this hate and violence. Take a listen. I think the lesson is that sometimes we never know who is in the midst of us. We must be vigilant at all times. These acts taking the lives of others in such extreme matter manners it is coward ds and weakness and its shameful. Anna, heather, it is so sad sitting in front of this church. I grew up in South Carolina. Turned the corner yesterday and passed the church and realized nine people passed away on wednesday night here in a senseless act. It is right there in the middle of town. We have both benen there so many times. I talked to debbie dills who was still on the scene she was scared but did the right thing. So many tragedies across the country. We have seen those with violent protests. How is charleston reacting . Yesterday we were here at the church and this sidewalk behind me heather the line was down to the intersection which is probably you know, quarter of a mile. People were here bringing flowers. You can see the flowers behind me balloons. You have a group of ministers. They brought this cross that was down here and they all joined together and they prayed together. You had dads bringing their kids trying to teach them a history lesson. We talked to one of the individuals. Take a listen. I saw a moment that will never be forgotten about this town. Thats thea shame. This isnt the charleston they grew up in and i grew up in. Just a sad day. What made you want to come to the church today . Just to see and celebrate all of the people they died and how they are in a good place now. If there is a Silver Lining in all of this yesterday we saw a tourist and we saw locals blacks, whites, republicans, trying to unify as a church. We will check back with you. Innocent unsuspects Victims Losing their lives. We are learning more about the victims as a community in mourning struggles to make sense of it all. You knew every Single Person all nine of them . Every single one. Thats how emanuel is. We are a very close knit family. There are incredible survival stories as well. A 5yearold alive after her grandmother told her to play dead. It is just so horrible. What happened in charleston shaking the country. Many are standing strong taking to prayer and letting their faith lead them through this tragedy. Joining us now is the Church Leader from the Presbyterian Church in charleston. My first question oh would be how do you possibly even begin to reconcile what has happened here. These people innocently fraying inside praying inside of a church. This sus spkt going in and sitting with them for an hour before opening fire and killing nine of them. How do you reconcile that . Oo we dont understand why this could happen and this evil bull we know we are called to stand together in solidarity with brothers and sisters at mother emanuel church. You look at the way charleston is responding to this at this point standing together. We are looking at the video hand in hand in prayer on the street inside the churches. What message do you hope that sends through out the rest of the country . I hope it sends the message that we have a lot of work to do as brothers and sisters were called to come together during this time and lift each other up in prayer and love and that we are called to live in solidarity with one another as christ calls us to do so. So i think its an opportunity to come together. You mentioned living together side by side. That is one of the huge underlying themes here and that is the racism that was behind this brutal murder of these people. But charleston itself, i have been there plenty of times. There are lots of great, great people there. That is not what charleston is about. People are praying for charleston and praying for the rest of the country so we can put an end to this. How do we do that . Thats my last question to you. Its a big one . I think again we take this opportunity to really come together to pray for one another and to really get to know one another, to listen to one another and grieve with one another. It is so important. As a Church Leader i want to encourage all churches to come together so we can live out christs goal. Reverend thank you so much. Appreciate it. Thank you heather. He showed off the gun weeks ago. Justin saying his parents took the weapon away but he stole it back to them. He told me his mom didnt know he had the gun. But it was at first his gun and his mother had taken from him. Yeah. It was his mom but his mom took it from d canylann. Why did she take it if it was his gun . Because his mom dont trust him with it. His brother believes the entire attack was motivated racism. It was a race thing. He told me that he the black people were taking over the country and he wanted it to be segregation. The meek brothers last saw roof on tuesday. He held a vig till for walter scott the guy allegedly shot in the back by the officer in charleston. We are wondering what was the motive . Why would someone travel two hours to come here . Theres speculation that that is why the suspect might have come here because the reverend was so involved in politics. Whats ironic is this church welcomed him into their bible study which is not surprising to one state senator sean bennett. Take a listen. Those people are the kind of people you would want to meet. It doesnt surprise me they would welcome anybody and take the opportunity to share with them their own love.
