First thing, democrats need 23 seats to win the house, right now they have 7point advantage in ballot. They are favored to win control, but its not a sure thing. We have 8 races that are already republican seat that is we think the democrats will win and that means democrats will need to win 15 more out of 40 competitive races and the races that are competitive are all across the country from washington to florida, from minnesota down to texas, of these 40 competitive races 37 of them are republicanheld seats, republicans are on defensive. The only question is how many seats they will lose, good night for republicans mean they will barely hang onto control in the house. Now, there are 4 races, as you can see generally in the northeast that are tilting to the democrats right now. These are race where is the democrat is favored but very close, perhaps the most interesting is New Hampshire<\/a> 1. A few races where the democrats might lose. Nobody has won the race by 4 points. Early warning sign, if the republicans pick up New Hampshire<\/a> 1 on election night, what we will be thinking not a big blue wave and may be able to hang control, if they lose all four races, then republicans begin to worry about 21 tossup races. Again, they are all over the country, heavy concentration right here in the middle, i think the thing to watch more than anything else on these districts is minnesota. Four of minnesotas eighth congressional districts are in this tossup category. Two are open seats currently held by democrats, two by republicans, again, thats going to be later on election night, we will learn about whats happening because of minnesota. If the democrats if they win all tilting seats and the seats we expect them to win, they would need to win 11 of these 21 races to win control. So what are the big issues that will sway voters one way or another . Three big issues, the economy, health care and immigration. Those are the top issues now, democrats are much more focused on health care, republicans much more on the economy, very conservative voters are focused on immigration, key to turnout but all of these issues combined are going to be perceived or going to be viewed not just on a question of what are the candidates saying but do voters believe they can make a difference and thats something theyre very skeptical about right now. Which party has uphill climb from here . Republicans without a doubt. Again, the question is going to be how many seats do they lose in the house, in fact, for the democrats, this might be considered a bonus round. If they have a good night, again, if the generic ballot is where it is today where democrats have 7point edge nationally i would expect them to have a good night, they would win most tossups and have a chance to win 15 districts. These districts dont have a lot in common but i think the theme is you might see in new jersey and pennsylvania, suburban affluent districts that are uncomfortable with President Trump<\/a>.
