FOXNEWSW FOX And Friends Sunday August 3, 2014

Sale. Fox and friends starts right now. They would have a hay day with this show, right . This whole show would be banned by the federal government. The least nutrition show on the air. Good morning. They managed to put a cupcake in a can. What is it called . A whole cake in a can, not just a cupcake. Just spray it in. Yep. Well have more on that coming up in the show. Right now to this fox news alert, for the first time the deadly ebola virus is in the u. S. Doctor kent bradley coming into liberia walking into the hospital in atlanta for treatment. And another patient should be coming any day now. Leland vetter is live with this story this morning. Reporter he is infected with the single most deadly disease known to man. Kent bradley was on a medical mission to liberia and became a patient himself after that medical mission trip. This is what he is going to call home for the foreseeable future. The Isolation United a Emory University hospital. There are four hospitals in the country able to safely treat a virus like ebola. I think it is unique this is the first patient with ebola in the United States, but thats the key point. I cant think of a better place in the world other than emory hospital to care for this patient. Reporter brantley arrived with a tent source built inside. And that plane is back to africa to pick up another american affected with ebola. Keep in mind, theres no cure for ebola. Trying to keep their fever down, while in africa, brantley received a blood transfusion from one of the patients who survived ebola and it is thought that the blood transfusion contained ebola antibodies. Much has been made by the cdc and Health Officials to bring brantley back to the United States, meaning it is bringing ebola back to the United States and under such strict Safety Standards that have been in place already, doctors almost universally agree the risk to the general population as close to zero as it gets. Thank you, leland. So the question is, should the u. S. Government be importing the most deadly disease known to man into this country, which is in effect what they just did. Doctor bob arnaw was on justice last night. It brings up a good question, he was there on the front lines before and insisted on basically staying there before he was brought back to the United States. He said, were putting people at risk. Listen to dr. Barbana. The risk is low but it is not zero. Mistakes can be made. The interesting thing, your honor, did they need to bring him here . He walked out of that ambulance. This is not a gravely ill individual. The fact is he could have been treated in africa. When i had cholera, i insisted on being treated in aftrica so would not infect friends and family. You are out trying to save the world with this christian organization, is a masamaritan, who has a great reputation. So you go and serve under those pretenses. If i had a sore throat, i wouldnt want to be treat there had. Would you want to be treated in liberia or the United States . The department of defense spends money on helping citizens and others around the world. Thats exactly what they should be spending money on. A, the guy is an american we should be proud of. B, the fact hes an american is the key point. This is a good thing. They aught to be doing the same thing for Andrew Tahmooressi stuck in a jail. And i think we should take the risk, it is worth it, to save americans. But the federal Authorities Say theres no risk, think of all the times they said that and have been wrong. Or testing on american citizens out in the desert. Theres a long history of our federal government doing the same thing. But its still worth the risk. People are wondering, are we spending too much money on this . 140 million in a grant given to the food and Drug Administration back in march. Vanderbilt university, 4. 4 million recentlyto figure out treatment for ebola. But the department of defense has a long history of doing this treating the troops since the 1800s. This could be a biological weapon in the future, so it seems important. Let us know your thoughts at foxandfriends. Com. We start with this fox news alert, a possible sighting of a missing oregon mother, jennifer hudson. The search now turning to washington states San Juan Island 300 miles from where she was last seen. Jennifer was last seen ten days ago taking out cash from a bank and buying sleeping pills from a rite aid before filling up with gas. Jennifer hudsons husband and father will be joining us live at 9 00 a. M. With the latest. And bottled water flying off the shelves as 400,000 people around the toledo area are told not to drink the water. The water tested positive for toxins possible from algae in lake erie. The algae growth is fed by fertilizer runoff from farms and Sewage Treatment plants and can make people extremely sick. Residents even being warned not to shower in the tainted water. Well, i think if i get my water today ill be all right. I think we can all get through it. Water tre now using chemicals in an effort to kill the toxins. And two people are dead after a plane crashes onto the front lawn of a Northern New York home. The small sesna taking off from the airport just across the street from nancy rauchs home. I see the airplane hit the top of the trees and just nosedive into my front yard. Both men inside the plane were pronounced dead at the scene. The ntsb is looking into what led up to the fatal crash. Topping sports, football season continues, can you feel it in Michael Strahan officially inducted into the hall of fail. Thats a Long Time Coming for him. He and hicks others dawned the gold jacket at the ceremony. Strahan talking about how unexpected his career seemed. I am absolute probable hall of famer. Im a probable Football Player because i didnt grow up saying im going to do this. Well, that improbable career led him to holding to the record for the most sacks over the course of a single season for the giants. A nice guy. Those are your headlines. Heres an interesting story, a lot has been written about the drama in the republican party. The real drama is taking place on the left on the Democratic Party between the establishments there, between the clintons, obamas and the populist wing of the party. We have a new report from ed klein who wrote the book on Hillary Clinton, about the clintons attempt to neutralize Elizabeth Warren. This is an excerpt that im quoting, bill and Hillary Clinton take the threat from Elizabeth Warren very seriously and are doing everything in their power to neutralize her. In july they cut short their vacation in the hamptons and flew to have lunch with bobby and his fiance. Bill was in full campaign mode. And according to Robert Kennedys widow and representative joe kennedy ii, favored warren inviting her up, basically believing shes more liberal than Hillary Clinton. Heres a tearout from the article to go further. Joe meant lizs visit to be a countermove to hillarys. He wanted to expose liz to the family to gape their support and sure enough, she came to the compound breathing fire about the need to rein in corporate america. Joe thinks hillary has too many ties with wall street. He loves Elizabeth Warren because shes a fullthroated liberal like his uncle ted. She has teds voice, loud and angry and triumphant. Of course, you remember does anybody see the irony here . People flying up to a compound to get mad about rich people . Talk about a lack of selfawareness. By the way, good for the kennedys. In one way, im impressed by this, Elizabeth Warren is closer to the beating heart of the Democratic Party. She is like a fullblown leftie. Shes from the leon troswski wing. Is that where the party is these days . The kennedys know they have big swing. To be compared to jfk would be great. And the fundraising venues, whether the jfk library or the compound. We had ed klein on here recently with the article from the post, who said obama is looking for a minime and sees Elizabeth Warren more so than Hillary Clinton. Speaking of liberals who know better than you to run your life, the federal government has put new restrictions in place led by the first lady of the United States that would mean schools cannot hold bake sales anymore. It turns out bake sales have baked goods that are bad for you and the government doesnt think you should eat them therefore schools have to close the bake sales. They are saying campuses cant roll out the bake sales because of the new nutrition standards. They want to replace the cupcakes on campus with gr gran and fruit cups. Is there less sugar in granola . Theres a lot of sugar in granola and theres more fib tore keep the kids full. Or running to the bathroom. Thats right. It keeps you regular. But lets teach kids about moderation instead. Instead of selling kingsize candy bars sold during the day, which doesnt fit the rules and regulations im the parent. Ive got four kids. Its up to you what you eat. Right. But this is the first time that young kids are not outliving their parents. The Life Expectancy of kids these days is lower than their parents, which does not add up for the first time. Good point. We are one of the fattest countries in the world next to mexico. We go back and forth with them, however the instinctions are infrequent. Buy one cupcake. The federal government is banning my cupcakes. Let us know how you feel about this. Friends foxnews. Com. A mother sells her daughters katy perry tickets on facebook calling her daughter a brat. Is this needed or dimented . And watch this. Run for your life well show you what happened. Welcome back. Kent bradley, one of two americans infected with the ebola virus, is back in the United States this morning at Emory University hospital in atlanta. Brantley is the first person infected with ebola to be treated in the United States, so what happens next . Joining us is our favorite physician, doctor, welcome back. Good morning. How concerned should we be that the first ebola case has arrived in the u. S. . We need to keep this in perspective, this is a deadly decide, but one of the reasons it is so deadly is it affects those in africa with no access to good medical care. And it is very important to emphasize i do not believe this is a Major Public Health risk for people in the United States. This patient has come back, he was a medical doctor working in africa, hes working with ebola patients and being brought back in isolation. Hes getting the appropriate treatment. The staff are caring for him and wearing proper protective clothing. And theres lots of reasons in africa why ebola spread so rapidly. Theres a tradition when the Family Member dies, the Family Members wash the body in preparation for burial. Thats a risk, a huge risk for spreading ebola. If you get intravenous fluid, theres a good case for survival. Many people do not have access to good or basic medical care. They are not educated and dont know what to do, either. When we saw the video of dr. Kent brantley walking on his own, a lot of experts were stunned themselves. What do you make of that and what is his treatment like . The fact that he walked out of the ambulance is a very, very good sign. Clearly, he doesnt have the very advanced stages of this disease where you can get this fever with significant bleeding, multiorgan failure, hopefully with appropriate fluids and resuscitation hell do actually very well. Dr. Bob arnot said he shouldnt come back to the United States at all. After i had cholera, i stayed over there until i was cured to come back to the United States. Should the hospital be concerned . No, hes going through a dedicated Infectious Disease unit at the Emory University hospital. They have expertise with dealing with the disease and with protecting other people in the hospital. And hopefully this disease will be contained and hell make a good recovery. We may learn a lot from it, too, that we wouldnt have learned by having it in liberia. Great to see you. Thank you. Its the way judges have been sentencing criminals for decades and now attorney generaler ig hogeneral eric holder says this is racist abuse. Details next. And some were expecting a thrill but this was not the thrill ride they were expecting. Everyone is holding on for dear life on the railing. Beautiful view. We have new video of this roller coaster malfunction from the riders point of view. Walking back down. Straight ahead. Maybe you should focus on walking instead of the video. Once there was a girl who never settled for ordinary. Even in her laundry room. With downy unstoppables, she matched her one of a kind style with one of a kind scents. Downy unstoppables in wash scent boosters wash in the wow. When folks think about wthey think salmon and energy. But the energy bp produces up here creates Something Else as well jobs all over america. Engineering and innovation jobs. Advanced Safety Systems technology. Shipping and manufacturing. Across the United States, bp supports more than a quarter million jobs. When we set up operation in one part of the country, people in other parts go to work. Thats not a coincidence. Its one more part of our commitment to america. Happy sunday, everybody. The missing israeli soldier believed to be captured by hamas militants now confirms to be killed in battle on friday. The news of the soldiers death comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says they will complete their mission. And the United Mine Workers of america, initially big supporters of president obama, are now in full revolt over his climate agenda that could jeopardize their jobs. Some even getting arrested at a march against the epa in pittsburgh. Tucker, over to you. Thank you, anna. Well, attorney general eric holder this week came out against certain statistical tools used in determining jail time. They have increasingly used large databases of information that include factors like Law Enforcement and Substance Abuse in order to determine sentences. But now holder says, quote, they should not be based, sentences should not be based on unchangeable factor that is a person cannot control or on the possibility of a future crime that has not yet taken place. Should we change a method that has worked for so many years . Here to weigh in is reverend jacques dubrat. Why would we tamper with a formula that has worked . First of all, the formula has worked at the federal level, and everyone agrees with the crime rate dropping that the criminal Justice System still is unfairly applied in many instances in communities of color and for those who are poor. But doesnt society have a right to protect itself . Obviously. From people who pose a threat to it and to its stalevel of th criminals are the same. Some are likely to reoffend and some are not. Should we make that determination . The determination and the right to do is certainly part of governments responsibility. The question is, how do you do that and will it be applied fairly and the attorney general is saying, as he said in other instances, youre going to have concernly an agreeable way to pursue. And hes asking other things to be considered in that determination. Prior convictions have got to be considered. If im a judge, if you were a judge, wouldnt you want to know, the guy has been convicted and arrested 15 times for the same crime suggest he may do it again, right . Yes. That should be a factor but there are other factors to be considered. With the economy while they were incarcerated, that should be part of the assessment. This guy is race obsessed, holder. The application of justice should be color blind. Hes saying we aught to do all we can to make sure certain groups arent incarcerated at certain levels. Shouldnt we ignore the race of alleged perpetrators and deal with them as individuals . But thats not the issue. The issue on the table is people have already been convicted and incarcerated and when they should be released, number one. And number two, america has never been color blind. So you dont think the race of people, shouldnt he ignore the race of people in prison . He should treat all people fair and equally. Equally, so we shouldnt take race into play. Over time, if you find the fact that is some people are not being treated fairly, then you have to raise the question, is the system broken . Dr. Jacques degraff, thank you for coming on this morning. It happened again, 20 people overdose at a music festival. One person died. Does it raise questions over the safety of these concerts . And how is this for discipline. A mom sells her daughters katy perry tickets on social media. Is it good parents or derang
