We have two other hurricanes we are monitoring, jose katea in the gulf of mexico. Both of those storms not going to impact the u. S. Right now. Last 12 hours thankfully the worst of the storm, the worst of the winds and the rain in the storm surge just went north of puerto rico. Thats great news for them. The Dominican Republic also haiti watching the storm very carefully. There you can see the eye right now, still a category 5 storm. The fact that we have seen this strength last for days is unprecedented. And it is just a monster. Have you the buzz saw look right here. All four quadrants are filled out a lot of warm water ahead of this. Not much to tear this storm apart as it moves towards the turks and caicos and juan pablos. Very concerned for low lying islands. They are going to potentially be devastated. Here is your future radar again going to turks, caicos, bahamas. And then we watch south florida and the keys. Thats when things get a little bit interesting because the computer models dont quite know what to do does the trough pick up this storm . What is the timing on the trough . Is the High Pressure in the atlantic very strong . Some of those questions still yet to be determined. So very good agreement as we head out to saturday, sunday, obviously coming too close to comfort tore key west, the keys, south florida. Watch these computer models, guys, very good agreement as we get into saturday sunday. But then there is a huge spread and thats why that cone of uncertainty goes up the state of florida. Now we have to watch georgia and the carolinas, in this storm stays offshore it doesnt get torn apart and we could potentially be dealing with a major hurricane for the southeast coast. Thats the headline. The president overruled his treasury secretary and the cop congressional leadership on the republican side who wanted a debt ceiling increase and fund the government and to get 8 billion for harvey. They wanted it to go the limits to go past next years midterm election. Pete they want to kick it all the way down. Steve democrats wanted three months. The president not wanting a fight apparently said thats the deal im going to take right now because we have tax reform and other stuff wee have got to do right now. Ainsley good for them. Doing it for the folks affected by harvey. I remember originally he was going to give 5. 95 billion to the folks in texas. And then we had i think Chris Christie on the couch on one leader, another governor who said thats not enough money. He needs to give more. Now giving 8 billion to help those families and its great. Pete some conservatives are upset because they want. Steve big time. Pete this is a clear shot at Mitch Mcconnell and paul ryan. Hey, guys, if you cant get things done, then, listen, i will work with the democrats and work with things like raising the debt ceiling and the continuing resolution to fund the government and irma. Democrats are always happy to spend your money. And always happy to raise your debt ceiling afnsd those kinds of things. They are happy to come to the table. Very strategic from this president. Clear out the underbrush of this stuff that could be contentious that washington likes to fight about. Clear the deck to fight for the stuff that really matters. We had a great meeting with Chuck Schumer, nancy pelosi, and the whole Republican Leadership group and i will tell you what, we walked out of there, mitch and paul and everybody, kevin and we walked out and everybody was happy. And it was nice to see that happen for a change because that hasnt happened for a long time in this country, for a very long time. And that is building at least a portion of the wall. And so on his side, he wants the wall. On the democratic side, they want the dreamers to stay. Heres the president on perhaps a deal on daca. Congress, i really believe, wants to take care of this situation. I really believe it we discussed that also today. And chuck and nancy would like to see something happen. Like to see something where we have good Border Security and we have a great daca transaction. Where everybody is happy. Now they dont have to worry about it anymore. What ended up hag hang is it game a value judgment it became framed as for democrats we are the party that cares about people. Republicans, you dont. And then the republicans started to say we care about freedom and if you oppose us then you must hate freedom. Steve sure. So now its very, very personal and i have, very moral. Very, very visceral. Democrats are twice as likely to say they never go to church as republicans and are 8 times as likely to favor action on climate change. 1 3 of republicans say they support the nra while just 4 of democrats do. So its the way people are wired these days, right . Its the way people are wired. And when you look at it, there is something called the moral values theory. Democrats primary value is all about care. So when you see that play out with daca and immigration they are wired towards care. We are as government supposed to provide for those people. If you are against us, you must hate people. You must be antipeople and somehow evil. On the republican side we frame a lot of things around freedom, liberty, and all of those kinds of things and choice. So when we go against democrats then we say you must hate freedom and you must hate choice. What happens is we are at a gridlock and cant compromise because we are saying a value judgment against each other rather than a difference of opinion.
