Look inside the u. S. Air strike that took out soliemani, good evening. Good evening, shannon, to you. Learn more about that operation from the beginning to the end resulting from the death of Qasem Soliemani. It included special operations soldiers on the ground that followed his convoy. This is the picture of the aftermath obtained by fobbing news from a member of the u. S. Government. Special operation soldiers were following soliemanis convoy from the Baghdad Airport and they were half a mile behind when the drone hit. They were on the scene within a minute or two. They did what in the business is called a bomb Damage Assessment and took pictures of the scene along with confirming that the drone got the right car and soliemani was dead. Many of the pictures we have contain graphic and closeup pictures of the body. Its too gruesome. Hes missing limbs and is grossly disfigured. Sources who saw the pictures noted that soliemani died in much the way the americans died. This picture is taken from the other direction, showing soliemanis body next to the car. We have blurred the body. The American Assets dragged the body from the scene, put the fire out, and identified the iranian general. They took pictures of his possessions including poetry book, two of the weapons, pistols and Assault Rifle along with wads of cash with the face of the ayatollah. Ordinarily his cell phone and other electronics would be taken for forensic analysis to see who he was talking to. You can see by the charred remains of the phone in the upper lefthand corner of this picture, the hell fire missile and ensuing fire made that impossible. Mike lee, you see a wounded veteran missing a limb or seriously disfigured, the odds are good that they were wounded by an ied designed and deployed under the direction of general soliemani. Shannon people see it here. More on the web. More on the web and a little more this weekend as well. Shannon thank you. Demonstrators called for outside informses including for iran to get out of their affairs. Breaking moments ago, iran tv saying the military admits to unintentionally shooting down the ukrainian jetliner leaving 176 people dead. Correspondent Benjamin Hall is live in jordan. Good evening or good morning to you there, benjamin. Good morning, yes. This is the news that so many people have suspected but iran had been denying vehemently. Just in the last few moments, the government there saying, yes, they were responsible for bringing down that plane, all 176 people onboard. That it was a mistake. That it was down to human error. For the last few days, they had been denying the accusations that the u. S. Is responsible, they called it, a big lie. But secretary pompeo and other people in the u. S. Government seem to be quite certain over the last few days that it was iran responsible for killing the 176 onboard. We do believe it was likely that plane was shot down by an iranian missile. Were going to let the investigation play out before we make a final determination. Its important to get to the bottom of it. Iran has been wildly accused of a coverup as well using bulldozers to handle the debris, not handing over the black boxes. Now they invited boeing representatives and citizens to teheran. They have not been allowed to investigate. Canada alone had 63 citizens aboard the plane. Confirmed to fox news it was a russianknead fa50 missile that brought down the ukrainian passenger jet. Also out of iraq, they voted to expel all u. S. Troops, well today the Prime Minister pushing through with that, urging the u. S. To abide by that vote. Thousands of other iraqis took to the streets as well to protest both the u. S. Departure rather the u. S. Strike and the iranian strike. Iraqis saying they dont want to be caught in the middle of a war and the u. S. And iranian strikes threatened their sovereignty. He remains the caretaker Prime Minister despite protests. But in a statement, the state department declined to talk about the future of u. S. Troops, saying instead that any delegation sent would only be discussing how to recommit to the partnership, not the removal of troops. President trump saying iraqi leaders wants the u. S. To stay. Shannon iran on pulling out of the middle east. Why not use the opportunity to say were done. Im okay. Shannon youre oh okay with removing the troops from iraq . They say that publicly, they dont say that privately. So President Trump there seeming to seems quite certain the u. S. Troops will stay in iraq. The big news tonight, iran taking responsibility for the downing of the ukrainian passenger jet with all 176 people onboard. Shannon . Shannon thank you. Our other top story tonight. Speaker of the house, nancy pelosi folding under pressure after weeks of delaying thats when shes going to send impeachment articles over to the senate. Trace gallagher has the story. Trace . When she got word nancy pelosi would be sending over the articles of impeachment, senator Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell said its about time. Speaker pelosi said she wouldnt budge until she learned the rules of engagement as she put it. Mitch mcconnell also refused to budge and in the end, pelosi blinked. She wrote a letter to her colleague saying the decision to release the articles came as fellow democrats started to voice frustrations and impatience as the speaker approached. Diane feinstein called out pelosi for the delay. And today when he learned the articles would soon be en route, President Trump said this about the speaker. Nancy pelosi announced shes sending articles of impeachment next week to the senate. Whats your reaction. She should have sent them a long time ago. It just it belittles the process. Nancy pelosi will go down as probably the least successful speaker of the house in the history of our nation. Shes done nothing. As for the rules of engagement, 51 gop senators committed to supporting rules similar to those implemented for the 1999 impeachment trial for president clinton. Susan collins said, quote, i am hopeful we can reach an agreement on how to proceed with the trial that will allow the opportunity for witnesses for both the house managers and the president s council if they choose to do so. And it appears Senate Republicans are backing off their ironclad opposition to witnesses in the upcoming trial, saying it depends on what they hear from house prosecutors and the white house defense. But before the trial, theres a bit of customary pomp circumstance. According to our senior producer on capitol hill, the articles are packed into cherry wood or cedar boxes and with a procession led by the house sergeant at arms are paraded across the capital through the rotunda and the ohio clark corridor before being deposited in the senate. Shannon . Shannon tricky to watch. With word that a trial could begin in days, democrats renew the calls for witnesses saying without them, the trial amounts to nothing but a sham coverup. The house committee, republican congressman from arizona, andy biggs, good to have you with us, sir. Good to be with you, shannon. Shannon iran state tv is citing the military and saying that that ukrainian jetliner was unintentionally downed by them. Your thoughts . It was hard for me to believe they were not going to accept culpability, but the admission does not mean theyre accepting full culpability. The investigation needs to go further. We need to understand the families of those and the families of those kill need to understand. They need to understand how this happened because it seems really unusual, quite frankly, to accidentally shoot down a passenger jetliner. Shannon in the meantime, the debate over the president s actions there, what has happened. The response back and forth. Theres talk now that iraq has reached out to secretary pompeo to say we want to send a delegation to come and talk to us about getting u. S. Troops out. Were going to take a spokesperson for the state Department Said this, the delegation sent to iraq would be discussing how to recommit the Strategic Partnership not to discuss troop withdrawal. There does need to be a conversation between the u. S. And iraqi governments about our financial, economic, and diplomatic partnership. How do we proceed with calls from the parliament and others within iraq saying time for you to go . I dont think we should uh take off the table disengagement at some level. I think that thats apparently the parliament wants that. It looks like some people in the street in iraq want that. And quite frankly, there are Many Americans on bringing our troops home from endless wars. Its a time to Start Talking about potential disengagement. It may not happen this week or a few months from now, but i think its worthy of the topic of discussion. Shannon you saw the president if you had a chance to watch on with Laura Ingraham hes open to that. He ran on getting our men and women out of the dangerous spots if the u. S. Interests are not being served. That conversation will continue. I want to get back to impeachment. Next week, the senate could begin considering this as a trial, moving forward with what the house is sending over. Nancy pelosi, the speaker there in the house said a tweet says by joining the resolution to dismiss, senator mcconnell showed his true colors. Americans have seen whats at stake in a trial with witnesses and evidence and new evidence has emerged. Every senator will have to vote. Is there a loyalty to the president or to the constitution . Democrats continue to say that there wont be a fair trial over there with Mitch Mcconnell in charge. That gets a big eye roll from me. I just watched and participated in the Judiciary Committee in what i consider to be the most egregious violation of due process. The worst process perhaps in the history of this country ushered in by nancy pelosi with adam schiff and jerry nadler to boot. For her to make those types of comments shows that she is nothing but a partisan hack. I mean, because the reality is, we never got a fair investigation and inquiry in the house. She didnt let it proceed by normal rules and now shes trying to control whats going on in the senate. She should get it over there. Thats a constitutional obligation. And then she should butt out and let the senate do its business shannon what about the idea of witnesses. The president said tonight, i wish john bolton would testify. He said he would reject on the basis of protecting president s being able to have conversations with those who work on National Security and those types of things with him. Theres this debate. There are a couple of republican senators who are open to the idea of calling witnesses. Quickly, can you give us your thoughts. I think we could make it a lengthy trial. I think the president is right, it would be a bad precedent. If you cant talk on National Foreign policies to staff and other international leaders, youve crippled the presidency going forward. Shannon theyll have to make the decisions over there across the aisle and across the country from where you are. Good to be with you tonight. Good to be here, shannon. Shannon new reports from the president resort. An Iranian National was detained with several weapon, knives, a pick ax, a machete. They were responding when they were responding to a call of a suspicious person. U. S. Employers added 144,000 jobs in december. Unemployment rate held steady at 3. 5 . Wall street journal reports the december jobs report caps off a decade of payroll gains, the longest stretch of 80 years of recordkeeping. The dow to the 29,000 mark but it finished the day off 133. Over in virginia, the legislature voting tonight on the first of many controversial new gun restriction measures. Virginia lawmakers voted to ban fire arms at the State Capitol and the state office buildings. It applies to visitors who were permit in the past with a concealed carry permit. But also to lawmakers even if they are Law Enforcement officers themselves. Gop lawmakers carry guns to the capitol. Beyond fast. Shannon the iran debate growing increasingly partisan and heated. Tonight, how the media is covering the ongoing conflict. Fox news media analyst and host of Fox News Media buzz shows us how his colleagues have been all over the map this week. This would be so bad and so worrying and so weird under normal circumstances. The media had been on an emotional roller coaster when it comes to covering the confrontation with iran. It was hardly shocking that President Trumps air strike which killed the top general drew cheers on the right and dire warnings from the left. The president of the United States used to hide from the responsibility. This president is bragging about it. A huge success, the world is safer. One of the worlds worst, most powerful terrorists is dead. The mob in the media, the democratic party. They seem distraught. There was where some were warning about being drawn in an endless war with iraq but relying on agencies that the president himself criticized. We were denouncing these very people as the deep state and pledging never to trust them again without verification. Some trump critics praised the president s speech that deescalated tensions with teheran. Measured by donald trump standards and i would argue it was measured by the standards of any american president. As journalists lowered the temperature, they accused the white house of chaos with the mixed signals of withdrawing troops from iraq. The stories were not helped today by the bizarre double take walk back oops we didnt really mean it announcement and unannouncement from the pentagon. Reporters today, press secretary of state mike pompeo after the charges against Qasem Soliemani. We did it because they were looking to blow up our agency. Did you have specific information about an imminent threat or anything to do with our embassy. You were mistaken when you said you didnt know precisely when and where. What is your definition of imminent. This was going to happen. But their critique of the president on iran transcends the usual leftright division, shannon . Shannon howard kirtz, thank you. Are you going to give rides to the other candidates in the senate who are we had moved jets previously. Thats the idea we thought of. Those are expenses. We would all chip in and ride together. Shannon the trial could be days away. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi directing the committee to prepare for the articles to the senate as she selects managers next week. But what about the senators on the campaign trail. Doesnt sound too happy tonight. Author of the maga doctrine, charlie kirk. Founder of majority maker, jonathan caught. And utah congressman, jason chavis, welcome all of you. We heard Bernie Sanders there talking about what are they going to do for the five senators on the campaign trails. They have to be here for the trial. Go six days a week, including saturdays. I guess theyll all hold events in the same town every night. But a number of them are expressing real consternation about this. The ap report from senator booker said this, if this trial lasts two weeks, thats literally dozens of events we wont be able to do. Politico talking about senator warren, facetoface, hand shake, a hug, being able to hold up the children to take pictures with you, to ask a question to do a Pinky Promise and all of that is lost if we cant be there in person. Who benefits if these five are trap in d. C. The Pinky Promise is good politics. But what benefits the most is mayor pete buttigeig. Hes not tied with this. In a trial hunter biden and joe biden brought up time and time again. You take all of the senators and put them on the sideline. You know what . The only person they need to go talk to is nancy pelosi. The democrats created this problem, they made up this problem. If it causes problems for their president ial candidates, call 1800speakerpelosi. Thats who they need to blame shannon one of our favorite tweets on this comes from comfortably smug if youre familiar with his tweets out there. In the world, always during it, says this, serious question for bernie supporters . Are you upset nancy pelosi at times with meaningless impeachment trial to help biden and keep bernie off of the campaign trail. Or are you used to the establishment, screwing bernie, and knew it would be rigged . Jonathan . I think the supporters are going to be upset. Theyre rightfully upset theyre not going to have their candidate on the campaign trail. Her best attribute is being there in person talking to voters. Theres a reason she has threehour selfy lines. People enjoy talking to her. She connects best with voters. I would argue that Vice President biden benefits from this. Hell have the trail relatively to himself. And if youre a democrat, the entire time youre going to hear donald trump was so worried about running against joe biden, he asked a foreign country to dig up dirt on him. Thats not a bad thing for biden to have out there, the polls show him leading in almost every swing state on trump. So this is going to further solidify that message for him shannon okay, charlie, also for the former Vice President , his name is going to come up with the senate trial a lot. If the folks defending the president have anything to say about i
