Conclusions on our own time schedule. Some members i think legitimately have decided that based on the president s own admissions, that he violated his oath. Thats a fair conclusion for people to draw, based on his own admissions. Jon we have Fox Team Coverage of the latest developments with david spunt standing by at the white house. We begin with Lauren Blanchard in our washington bureau. Lauren . Jon, another handful of current and past Administration Officials have been called and are scheduled to be on capitol hill this coming week. The problem for democrats is actually getting them there. Lets look at the tentative hearing schedule. On tuesday, lawmakers are expecting wells griffith from the department of energy and from the office of management and budget michael duffy. Wednesday lawmakers hope to see Energy Secretary rick perry who is leaving his job at the end of the year, but his office says he wont appear unless it is an open hearing and even then, he will only consider it. Plus the acting omb director russell vought. Another possible know show on thursday, former National Security advisor john bolton. His lawyers say he will not voluntarily appear, and now they are waiting on a subpoena. Republican frustration is growing with all of the closeddoor hearings, while the speaker of the house says the inquiry isnt partisan, some democrats recognize why republicans are angry. And i regret the fact that some of my colleagues long before even the ukraine question came forward had already decided that they wanted to impeach the president. You know, many of us came to the conclusion a little bit later in the process, but i dont think because of that, we can ignore the fact that we do now as house judiciary member andy biggs today on fox called on house intelligence chairman adam schiff to also face questioning in the impeachment inquiry. The question is does he think hes going to testify or is he going to not testify . Hes actually become a witness in this case because of the whistleblower and his connection to the whistleblower and his staffs connection. Republican representative liz cheney sent a letter to Speaker Pelosi last night calling for all inquiry transcripts over the last six weeks to be made public. Speaker pelosi has said they will be doing that soon. Jon . Jon Lauren Blanchard, thank you. Meantime, President Trump blasted the impeachment probe during a rally in mississippi last night. The president said it is, quote, an attack on democracy itself. House republicans continue to defend the president , saying nothing criminal actually happened. The president didnt do anything wrong. It is a law to look into corruption in order to provide aid to ukraine, i mean, thats a law going back several years since before donald trump was even candidate to become president of the United States, but in this case, ukraine didnt even know there was a hold on aid until just before it was released. Then the aid got released and ukraine didnt have to do anything in order to get it released. Jon david spunt live at the white house with more. Good evening to you from the white house. President trump spent the day here at the white house. Hes getting ready to leave to head to new york city to spend the night at trump tower. More on that in a moment. Within the last hour or so, he tweeted that schiff, lauren mentioned those transcripts he believes schiff in the house will change those transcripts. President trump is tampering down all talk on impeachment and arguing it shouldnt have happened in the first place. Members of his inner circle tat white house are now publicly saying they are prepared for impeachment at the house. The president turned impeachment talk into rallying cry for his base last night in mississippi. It is all a phony deal, this whole impeachment scam to try to undermine the 2020 election and to delegitimize one of the greatest elections maybe the greatest i mean lets give George Washington credit. But everybody expected he was going to win. That weve ever had. So my phone call which was totally perfect and appropriate, and if you want to read the transcript, you see how perfect it was. On thursday, the president said in an interview with the Washington Examiner that he would consider reading the transcript of his call with president zelensky of ukraine on television to the american people. The press secretary was asked if he would actually do this out loud to the american people, heres what she had to say. Hes got nothing to hide. I mean, i think thats the point thats not getting across is that the president did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. So why wouldnt he read the transcript of a call that was fine. Its already public. To show people the context of what was going on. The reason the president is heading to new york, he will go to Madison Square garden for a ufc championship fight tonight, spend the night at trump tower, be back here at the white house tomorrow for another busy week on capitol hill, dealing with the i word, impeachment. Jon . Jon david spunt at the white house, thank you. President trump names his new head of homeland security. Chad wolf will step into the role as the new acting dhs secretary. He becomes the fifth person to lead that agency since President Trump took office. Lucas tomlinson has more from washington. Before departing for his rally in mississippi, the president told reporters he has appointed wolf as acting secretary of the department of homeland security. A very good man, highly respected, and hes acting right now and we will see where that goes. And as you know, john, as you know, i like acting. I mean, a lot of people say i like acting. It gives you great flexibility. Its not clear when wolf would take over as acting dhs chief the federal governments Third Largest agency with over 240,000 employees. Wolf will be the fifth person to hold this role in the trump white house. Officials say President Trump has no plans to nominate wolf to the job permanently. Secretary wolf is the former chief of staff to former dhs secretary nielsen and has risen through the ranks of dhs on and off since its creation following the terrorist attacks on september 11th. His nomination as undersecretary for policy at dhs remains stalled in the senate. Officials say wolf has a very favorable reputation at dhs. The current acting dhs secretary will remain on the job until veterans day, according to white house spokesman. Currently the acting head of u. S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and seen as immigration hardliner is a potential candidate to take over in the future. At its creation dhs was focused on counterterrorism. The coast guard has moved under its purview to protect the ports. Dhs also responsible for enforcing the countrys immigration laws the signature issue for President Trumps agenda and hopes for a second term in 2020. There are now at least 10 acting secretaries and senior officials serving in President Trumps cabinet. Jon . Jon lucas tomlinson, thank you. Well, the slightly less crowded 2020 democratic field is back in the Hawkeye State with a number of candidates making their cases to voters across iowa. This as beto orourke drops out of the race. President trump reacted to the news at his rally last night. Thats why like beto wasnt smart, couldnt handle it. I told my wife, i said see, it is not so easy. When beto quit, he quit like a dog. When he quit, i said see, people think this is easy. Jon matt finn joins us from cedar rapids with a look at the democrats still campaigning. Matt . Well, jon, Democratic Candidates are really kicking up their ground game here in iowa into high gear. Its been a jampacked weekend all here beginning with last nights critical fundraiser. The liberty and justice dinner, and today numerous meet and greets and famous iowa fish fry which just wrapped up. The democratic frontrunners have been here in iowa. They are trying to make their case to the first in the nation voters including biden, klobuchar, sanders, warren, harris, buttigieg all here, less than 100 days now till the first in the nation caucus in the Hawkeye State. Those candidates trying to make their breakout moment. Perhaps the biggest topic of the weekend, senator warrens newly unveiled 52 trillion dollars medicare for all plan, being criticized as fundamentally impossible. Biden has been attacking warrens plan all weekend saying its attacks on the middle class and will end private healthcare. Warren defends it saying it wont cost the middle class a penny and democrats will lose without big ideas like her medicare plan. I just think getting that plan through is difficult. [inaudible] the way i believe that were going to win as democrats, weve got to be out there to talk about big ideas. Weve got to give people a reason to show up. And this weekend senator Kamala Harriss campaign now indicating they are placing all their resources into this state, even closing offices in New Hampshire and of course another big talker, beto orourke, suddenly dropping out of the race. Jon . Jon matt finn, thank you. Hong kong hit with that citys worst violence in months. Police fired tear gas at antigovernment protesters after they set fire to metro stations, vandalized buildings and atta attacked chinas official news agency. The chaos has sent that city into a recession. Ryan chilcote has been following the developments. In of those protesters were scared away by that tear gas, but not all of them. Protesters moved through the streets of hong kong unleashing chaos, vandalizing buildings, throwing molotov cocktails at the police, all that earlier today. These protests have been going on for nearly five months now, and by the look of things, the protests are getting only more and more violent. Hong kong is part of china. But it is autonomous. The protests began when beijing wanted the right to extradite people from hong kong to Mainland China effectively bringing them into the communist controlled legal system. But the protests are now about much more than that. The protesters want more autonomy from Central China and are appalled at how beijing has reacted to their demands. This is causeway bay, effectively hong kongs times square, just look at that tear gas enveloping the streets. In the first of these protests, protesters broke into the headquarters of chinas official news agency in hong kong and made a mess of the place. Earlier this week, beijing indicated they intend to bring the protests to an end. But can they . One group of protesters and i should say it was a peaceful group of protesters called on the United States today to impose sanctions on china for their handling of the protests in hong kong. A bill that would do just that has passed in the house. It still needs approval in the senate. Ryan chilcote, in london, fox news. Jon thank you, ryan. Now to turkey where that nations interior minister threatened to send isis fighters back to home countries in europe. The nation says it is not acceptable for those fighters to be turkeys responsibility. Governments in the European Union have been at odds on this issue. Meantime, President Trump says the u. S. Has offered to help hand isis fighters back to their home nations. The latest on the wildfires burning in california next. Jon at least 13 wildfires are still burning right now throughout california, with red flag warnings in effect into the evening for two Southern California counties. Christina coleman is live in santa paula, california, about 65 miles northwest of los angeles. Christina . Well, jon, this is where the maria fire has been burning since early yesterday morning. You can see some of the hot spots right there. This is what firefighters are working on. Theres about 1200 firefighters actively working this blaze right now, trying to put out this fire. You can see them right here. They are digging deep in the ashes of these hills right now, trying to make sure theres no smoldering embers, because it only takes seconds for one of these embers to spread and spark up another wildfire. The maria fired burned about 9400 acres, threatened about 2500 structures and burned down three homes since it started thursday evening while kids were trickortreating in nearby neighborhoods. The fire was fuelled by winds of up to 35 milesperhour during the tail end of this epic santa ana wind event that we have been experiencing here. Nearly 80,000 people were ordered to evacuate around this Farming Community as flames shot down the hills. Crews were able to make Good Progress today controlling this fire since yesterday because the winds have died down significantly. The fire is now about 20 contained. But were not in the clear just yet. There is still cause for caution and concern. We are not out of the woods yet. As the wind shifts, we have a whole new fuel bed that opens up and is subject to a pretty significant firefight. Now, this is video from when the maria fire started yesterday, on south mountain, just south of santa paula. You can see the flames lit up the hills around here. Utility company so cal edison said it reenergized a 16,000 volt power line minutes before the maria fire started on a nearby hill even though as of right now, the cause of this fire is under investigation. And as of right now, we have a redflag warning in effect for parts of Southern California, even though the winds have died down, but again, these firefighters working around the clock to make sure theres no hot spots. They are going deep into the hills out here, cutting down some of the brush, hosing down these hot spots and doing everything they can to make sure we are safe. Jon . Jon what a challenge, christina coleman, thank you. Seven years ago this week Superstorm Sandy devastated the new york city air what, leaving billions of dollars in damages. Now, the city has installed temporary barriers along its waterfront to protect it from another storm surge, but more Permanent Solutions are currently under consideration. Rick leventhal is in new york city with more. Two days before halloween, in 2012, Hurricane Sandy slammed the new jersey shore and swamped Lower Manhattan. Environmentalists say the corpss options would devastate the world under water. This is a living breathing ecosystem. At such low populations, were going to drive these fish to extinction.
