FOXNEWSW Fox Report With Jon Scott July 26, 2020

David spunt has reaction from the white house, but we begin with dan springer who is in seattle. Dan . Yeah, jon, it was all a show of solidarity with whats going on in portland. Here in seattle, there was about a dozen protests across the country here in seattle. Protesters were pretty peaceful for the first couple of hours, but then Seattle Police declared a riot, once their east precinct came under attack. Also before that, arsonists torched five construction trailers. They set them on fire where a youth center is being built. Protesters smashed windows, painted graffiti on many businesses and threw commercial grade fireworks at police. But spd had the upper hand throughout, making 45 arrests. They did use pepper spray, blast balls and foam bullets, all the tools that the city council tried to take away from them, but late friday night, the federal judge blocked the law agreeing with the department of justice that it would likely lead to more use of force. Portland saw its 59th straight night of protest. Again last night some in the huge crowd broke through the fence surrounding the federal courthouse. Federal police fired many rounds of tear gas. The deputy secretary of dhs is begging city leaders to work with federal Law Enforcement. Their own mayor, who is also the police commissioner, ties the hands of his own police, and so the federal officers there are left to defend that courthouse and Federal Buildings without local cooperation, which is very rare to not have local cooperation at the Law Enforcement level. You see some of the results. Things got violent in oakland when arsonists set part of a courthouse on fire. Oakland mayor a vocal critic of President Trump said the violence was playing into trumps reelection strategy, asking Peaceful Protesters to stop, providing cover at night for those only interested in anarchy. One man is dead. Another is in Police Custody in austin, texas, after a shooting at a protest there. The victim was a protester who was armed with a rifle. The suspect drove his car into a crowd, then shot the victim as he approached. Also, shots rang out in aurora, colorado, and three black militia members in louisville were injured in whats being called an accidental shooting there. I have to point out, jon, that port land is the only city of all of these protests where the federal Law Enforcement engaged. It didnt happen in seattle, even though they had some people from the federal government, federal Police Officers on the ground here. Jon . Jon dan springer in seattle, dan, lots to keep an eye on, thank you. Meantime, President Trump is expanding operation legend, sending federal agents to several cities to protect federal property amid ongoing unrest. David spunt has the latest from bridgewater, new jersey, where the president spent the weekend. David . Hi, jon. Well President Trump back at the white house. He just landed on the south lawn about 15 minutes ago. He has a lot on his plate this coming week, with Congress Going out for the august recess, talking about the insurance and talking about that money for those people that are no longer receiving paychecks. Also the violence and the unrest in many cities. Now, speaking of that violence, you just saw in dan springers report, seattle is now considered a riot zone. Authorities officially considered it a riot zone last night. A lot of unrest. Authorities made about two dozen arrests. The president continues to pitch himself to the American People as the president of law and order. The white house is increasingly focusing on portland, oregon, where unrest has gone on for approaching 60 nights. As you mentioned, the president expanding operation legend, named after a 4yearold legend talaferro a little boy shot and killed while sleeping in his home in kansas city. Authority still looking for little legends killer. Operation legend sends federal agents to hot spots around the country to protect federal property, like the statues we have been seeing coming down. Authorities right now say the initial list includes the cities, but will eventually expand. Operation legend is really designed to make sure that those moms and dads who have lost loved ones, who have lost kids and grand kids and perhaps kids that have lost their parents because of Gang Violence in these cities, that we come in in a very covert way to investigate and work alongside local Law Enforcement. Chief of staff mark meadows you saw him right there, he and treasury secretary mnuchin were on capitol hill this afternoon working on a deal with republicans, 600 weekly unemployment checks no longer going out to anxious americans laid off during the covid crisis. As i mentioned with the august recess, that kicks in at the end of this week, so many anxious americans are not only losing those checks. They are losing patience. They want republicans and democrats to come together, get this done, certainly President Trump is going to be monitoring it all as we look over the next few days. Jon . Jon david spunt in bridgewater, new jersey, thank you. Today marks 100 days until election day, and joe bidens Campaign Says it is firing on all cylinders accelerating its staff and increasing ads spending in battleground states. But the Presumptive Democratic nominee is missing one key component, his running mate. Jacqui heinrich is live with more on that. Jacqui . Jon, four women on the vp short list took to television this weekend to talk about the campaign, including california congresswoman karen bass, who is generating buzz that her stock is rising. I am so concerned about where our country is at this point in time. We have had a president that has just torn us apart, and im willing to serve my country in whatever way im called upon to serve my country. A politico article called bass the antikamala harris, often shying away from the spotlight and someone who would not outshine biden. Shes also quietly worked on race and healthcare issues for years, two key campaign issues. But there is criticism she may be seen as having a little ambition for a White House Run of her own. Susan rice, val demings, and Michelle Grisham also made television appearances. The Biden Campaign is ramping up ads, dropping 14 1 2 Million Dollars for a blitz in six battleground states. They also just spent 15 million on ads last week. The Trump Campaign outspent biden on digital and tv ads, nearly every week, since the start of the general Election Campaign in april, according to advertising analytics. Republicans are getting their message out in other ways too. Rnc chair mcdaniel wrote in a fox news oped with their unity manifes manifesto, it is clear joe biden is controlled by sanders and the rest of the radical left, singing the siren song of socialism as the alternative to freedom and division of our founders. Republicans are campaigning on bidens Enthusiasm Gap saying that points to likely reelection for President Trump, and this is all of course despite bidens consistent lead lately in the polls. Jon . Jon jacqui heinrich, more on that just ahead. Thank you. Now, look at the Trump Campaign as the 100 day countdown to the november election begins. Joining us now is co chair of the group 2020 women for trump and former Florida Attorney general, pam bondi. Thank you very much for being here this evening. I want to point you to the latest results of a fox news poll in three of the battleground states, michigan, minnesota, and pennsylvania. In all three of them, trump President Trump runs behind joe biden, and in all three of them, it is outside the margin of error, does that worry you . Not at all because i was with President Trump on the campaign trail in 2016, and the polls were showing almost identical similar things. Yes, we were behind in every poll. You know, and these polls too, it shows lets just take michigan for example. It shows us down by 9 but 11 of those voters are undecided. 7. 6 of those polls in michigan werent registered voters. So we couldnt rely on those last time. We are not going to rely on those this time. I tell you, our ground game is second to none. We have 300 staffers on the ground. Were adding 1500 more field staff, and weve doubled, doubled getting people registered to vote. We have 1. 5 million volunteers on the ground. You know our data, our technology, thats unparalleled. No one can compete with that. Nor can they compete with what President Trump is doing online. Jon, i can tell you, when we talk about these polls, i was just in wisconsin a few weeks ago. This past week i was in maine and New Hampshire with women for trump with laura trump and others, and we were seeing victory in those states. We were seeing people come out to support us, and they were happy to be there to support the president. Do we rely on the polls . No. We rely on what were seeing every single day in our country. You know what . Women especially, we did a lot with women of course, roundtables. Women care about the economy and jobs and also care about keeping their kids and families safe. That right now is so important to the country. Jon let me go ahead, yeah. Jon you mentioned the economy, and i want to put up the fox news polling results from those same three battleground states. Who do you trust to do a better job on the economy . President trump wins michigan by 3, pennsylvania by 5, and loses minnesota by a point, but again, that is inside the margin of error. So at least two out of three you can say the president has the edge, and most people vote the economy when they go into the voting booth. And jon, you know, this is as we know, whats happening in our country right now is unprecedented and in our lifetime, and not only the economy, but what we were seeing on the ground with these women in these three states i just talked about, they care about law and order. They want to get their kids back to school. Economy, school none of that matters if the United States of america is not a safe place to live. President trump is the law and order president. What do we have joe biden saying on an interview . He said that the police have become the enemies. One of his staffers said police are worse than pigs. And thats you know, hes got this Unity Task Force with Bernie Sanders and dont let that fool you. That is a radical left wing mob, and, you know, whether they say reimagine police. Why do we want to reimagine police right now . We need police now more than ever. Your correspondent talked about operation legend. President trump is out there, protecting our cities. He will continue to protect our cities. Thats another reason think about this, Police Unions typically dont support republicans. The National Association of police organizations, over 240,000 members, they just endorsed President Trump, and i think they are probably going to be more to come as well. Jon all right, pam bondi, the co chair of women for trump. Thanks very much. Thank you. Jon meantime, new u. S. Coronavirus cases are on the rise. Johns hopkins reporting 4. 2 million u. S. Cases with more than 146,000 deaths. Meanwhile, this fourmonth trend chart shows a surge in americas daily case number, as the daily death toll trends higher as well. Christina coleman live with more on that from los angeles. Christina . Hi, jon. Well, texas is trending down in its total number of cases in their sevenday average, but they are seeing a rise in covid19 deaths, just reported 153 new fatalities since yesterday. Florida has now surpassed the once hard hit state of new york in total cases with more than 423,000 infections. Florida now second in the nation in cases to california. However, florida is still behind california and way behind new york in their number of covid19 fatalities. Also, theres growing concern of the virus moving up north. Dr. Birx is warning officials from at least 11 major metropolitan areas, including baltimore, pittsburgh and cleveland to take aggressive action to mitigate their outbreaks to prevent them from becoming the next covid19 hot spot. The numbers are not looking good. Were seeing, thank goodness, a plateauing in florida and arizona and texas, which have been the epicenters. Californias about the same. But were seeing a new set of states emerge as new epicenters. Delays in covid19 testing results still a major concern, as federal officials trying to accurately track hot spots, do Contract Tracing and disseminate resources to fight this virus. Heres the Trump Administrations Testing Coordinator on cnn today. We are never going to be happy with testing until we get turnaround times within 24 hours, and i would be happy with point of care testing everywhere. We are not there yet. We are doing everything we can to do that. The twoweek turnaround, again i told you the data, it is 4. 27 days for half of those tests that are done in the commercial labs. Im highly confident that turnaround will decrease this week. Despite the spike in cases in some states and testing issues, there is some good news out there, in arizona, hospitalizations for covid19 went down significantly in the past two weeks, and the number of people being cared for in icu there also dropped significantly. Jon . Jon a bit of good news, christina coleman, christina, thank you. Jon turning now to alabamas State Capitol in montgomery, where the late congressman john lewis, a pioneer of the Civil Rights Movement lies in state. His flagdraped casket arriving a few hours ago, retracing the route marchers took in the days leading up to and after bloody sunday back in 1965. Alicia acuna is live in montgomery with more. Alicia . Hi, jon. Congressman john lewiss casket was greeted by onlookers who lined the street leading up to the capitol. He was also greeted by dignitaries at the capitol. As you mentioned, he will lie in state until this evening, and the public is welcome to pay their respects as long as they wear masks. The casket arrived here after traveling from selma, and what was a striking sight, the twoman horsedrawn carriage that took the casket went on to the bridge and it paired down to one man who drove lewiss casket in a final journey across the Edmund Pettus bridge. In the middle there was a pause, as he lay over the river. This is the same route marchers took pursuit in equal Voting Rights, it was cut short by Alabama State troopers who tear gassed and beat them including lewis. Weeks later they would complete the march to montgomery. Later that year the Voting Rights act would become law. To be here today to see his last his body have his last march across the Edmund Pettus bridge, i was so sad but what has made me happy is to think about his life, his legacy, all the things he has done to make this world a better place for all of us to live in. He was quite proud of his multiple arrests over the years in the name of equal treatment. Lewis said when he was a young man, looking around in the segregated south, he asked his parents about the white only signs on stores and restaurants, and they told him dont make trouble. Instead he said he made good trouble, necessary trouble, and jon, as the onlookers in selma watched the carriage go by, they yelled out to john lewiss casket that they would take it from here. Jon . Jon alicia acuna, in montgomery, alabama, thank you. Well be right back. Im a performer. Always have been. And always will be. Never letting anything get in my way. Not the doubts, distractions, or voice in my head. And certainly not arthritis. New voltaren provides powerful arthritis pain relief to help me keep moving. And it can help you too. Jon fox extreme weather alert now, hawaii is bracing for wet weather as hurricane douglas eyes the island. Meanwhile, hanna being downgraded to a Tropical Storm, but it is still dumping rain on southern texas. Alex hogan is following all of this, from new york city. Alex . Jon, this is already a very busy hurricane season, just two months in, these two storm systems that were seeing hit the country over the weekend, bringing a lot of floodwaters with them. The first one hanna that was downgraded from a hurricane to a Tropical Storm this morning, when it touched down in texas, on padre island last night. Governor abbott issuing a disaster declaration for 32 counties, battering a part of the country hard hit by the pandemic, hanna drenched the state with rain, floodwaters, and caused power outages. We know our house is secure, so we figured we would come down here and watch it blow in. You may call us crazy. Were having a good time. I feel bad because we did a bunch of repairs to it. In ports mansfield, texas,
