And the ifs of the National Polling<\/a> is this, that trump didnt win the popular vote in 2016 likely not to get the popular vote again why because a lot of National Polls<\/a> are concentrated in areas where voting is in new york, illinois, california, which is places kind of trump has never gong to win. No republican will win there. So donald trump is likely to and the electoral vote again. Its likely to be very, very close. But i believe he will not win the popular vote. And thats the rub. Democrats, you know, if he cant win fair and square they want to change rules even theyre talking about eliminating Electoral College<\/a>. Just like theyre talking about stacking the court. No, we play by the rules in america. And the rules are this. Electoral college was put into place by a founders smartly to protect the minority. I dont to be ruled by california, illinois, and new york. Im in virginia, and virginia now has is turned blue. But im hopeful that other places like georgia and florida and ohio and michigan will be the voice of who the actual president of the United States<\/a> will be because in our country, its we dont get ruled by just a small part of the country. Its the entire country that makes up the United States<\/a> of america. Because as you point out if you win california, illinois, and new york, youve pretty much won the presidency. You might want to throw florida in there as well. But that would really change political campaigning for that office. Lets talk about the senate. What do you think the prospects are that the democrats win the senate . Look, i think things have to be really bad for that to happen and i dont foresee that happening. Ting theyre going to be some surprises on Election Night<\/a>. Places like michigan, where the coat tails maybe reversed it might be that john james will have the coat tails to push trump over the top. And the reverse can happen in arizona where were seeing a very, very tight race. Now in arizona where it could be trump that pulls mcsally over the top. So i think theres going to be a lot of surprises. I dont think that in my opinion the senate is in danger. Nor do i believe unfortunately the house is in danger for the democrats. But i believe that at the end of Election Night<\/a> or shortly thereafter hopefully well have a republican president. We will continue the majority in the senate and house will remain in hands of democrats is my prediction. Well in maine, the polling shows that Susan Collins<\/a> is in a significant amount of trouble. At least in that particular state, you think that there are numbers 45 for her challenger sarava gideon 40 according to real clear politics. You think that john james who is run an Impressive Campaign<\/a> and is, you know, with his Army Background<\/a> his helicopter pilots background the west point graduate hes running impress icampaign you think he could win that seat in in michigan . I do. And i think hes come on strong. He did it a great job in his first attempt against the senator stabenow. I think that he is really coming on in the last few weeks of this campaign. And his message is resonating. And i think that will be a big help to the president s effort as well. What about the arizona race where former astronaut mark kelly is taking on incumbent senator although shortterm incumbent Martha Mcsally<\/a> wide gap in that race according to real clear politics average almost 8 points. You said a moment ago that you think she can win that race . I do. I think this is all about getting out the vote. Know wring your votes are the microtargetting and rnc done a great job and senatetorial committee and i believe this will be a tail of coat tails that donald trump will have in arizona. And to push mcsally over the top where i think that jones has an opportunity to push trump over the top in michigan. So i think that you know, theres a lot of, i mean, james and michigan. I think theres a lot of intrigue thats going happen in the senate races. A lot of it will be driven by the president ial turnout, of course. But this is all if getting out the vote. I think what this shows is that both campaigns know that this is going to be a contest that comes down to the Electoral College<\/a> and theyre not taking anything for granted. The Biden Campaign<\/a> said were not ahead by as many points as the polls say we are. There are, obviously, trying to exhort their voters to get out there to get to poll. Yeah it is an interesting its an interesting comment from Biden Campaign<\/a>. You clearly want to energize your base and tell them that things are going well at the same time while you want to project confidence you dont want your base to become display sang theres been about enthusiastic voters and roll their eyes at that. There is something to that. President trump has been arguing that his back is against the qawl that this is the fight of the century and his support reverse going to respond because they know how dire his position is in the polls. I think that that is actually sort of the Silver Lining<\/a> of the polling for the president. One of the stories that is rocking the race at this very late point is story that New York Post<\/a> put out there having uncovered laptop that proportedly belonged to the former Vice President<\/a> s son hunter biden and contained emails that seem to show if they are awe then the authenticated we havent heard although fbi had the laptop in its possession. Sod he was cutting his father in dealings overseas. Now joe biden was asked about that story. And he got a little testy heres that exchange. [inaudible conversations] i know i have no response its not a Smear Campaign<\/a>. Right up your alley theyre questions you always ask. I have no response. I mean he called it a Smear Campaign<\/a> i suppose you could take. To be a denial but he said i have no response. It is a little bit like asking him whether he wants to pack the court. He doesnt have an answer. Why . Well, not included in his response was whether or not the emails are actually authentic not included is whether or not thats actually a laptop that in any way is connected to him and ironic there that joe biden decided to sort of adopt the trump playbook and attack the reporter. But this is really interesting because i think George Stephanopoulos<\/a> set the tone on the town hall debate did not ask about this and seems that a lot of my colleagues have also not asked about it until very recently. But the thing about this is this is not going to be a story that is going to go away. Moments ago, Trump Campaign<\/a> released a Television Ad<\/a> claiming that former Vice President<\/a> was lying about his sons connections to burisma. This is going to be the argument that they make up until election day. Because of the Trump Campaign<\/a> sees that this october surprise is as good as it is going to get. You know, two of our fox reporters obtained one of the emails that proportedly from that computer and both of them checked it with sources. Who said that that may 2017 email was authentic again we have yet to hear from the fbi although the fbi has been written a very stern letter by a number of Congress Members<\/a> of congress who want to know why the fbi hasnt opened its mouth about that laptop. Lets take a look at a couple of battleground States Senate<\/a> races battleground races for the senate i should say. In arizona, mark kelly the former astronaut up by according to the real clear politics average 50. 3 percent over Martha Mcsally<\/a> at 42. 5. Andy biggs congressman from arizona says he feels good about mcsally chance it is looks right now like a democrat run away in arizona. Well, i think whats interesting about this is you know mcsally provides bit of a case study and how some of these Senate Candidates<\/a> are trying to distance themselves a little bit from the president. Theyre looking at same polls as you and i are and theyre trying to keep their seat. The Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell<\/a> wants to remain majority leader at this point i think candidates are realizing that perhaps the top of the ticket is more of a liability than an advantage. I think thats perhaps why mcsally, you know, didnt say that she was, you know, proud of the president during her debate. That i think were going see this across the board as more republicans who thought that they were in safe races are now realizing that they pretty much are on their own. We have a couple of other senate races to take a look at because control of the United States<\/a> senate very much up in the air in this upcoming election. We were talking about the senate races because control of the u. S. Senate very much up in the air this time with republicans defending so many more seats than democrats. One of the races that is pretty interesting right now is in arizona. Where plar that mcsally relatively short incumbent is taking on mark kelly the astronaut 50 to 42 according to your real clear politics polls. We talked about that one but lets also go to michigan. Michigan is is a state fill that republicans actually see some chance of flipping. They have a stellar candidate there in john james west point graduate former Army Helicopter<\/a> pilot businessman. Hes taking on the incumbent peters and that margin is pretty close. How do you see that race . Well when i spoke with james earlier in the year, he was pointing to not just his military service but also the fact that this is someone who understands Global Supply<\/a> chains. This is the business that he was in. So if you remember the republican party, and you wanted a candidate who could make arguments about global problems with the pandemic if you wanted a candidate who could speak to Race Relations<\/a> in this country. If you wanted a candidate who could talk about his military service. You have all of that in john james. He ran last time around and he lost. But his thought is that this race is much closer. He thinks that he can overcome gary petering there and frankly this is one of the very few bright spots for republicans in 2020 when it comes to the senate because across the board theyre playing defense. This is one of the rare opportunities for them to go on the offensive. Yeah colorado is one state where theyre very much on defense. Cory gardner a very popular incumbent senator but democrats found a very popular former governor to run against him. John and right now it looks like it is his race 48 for the former businessman and mayor of denver 39 for cory gardner. It was almost like he tweeted the democratic president ial primary as a warmup he went from that race to running for the u. S. Senate in colorado. And this is not a position that gardner thought that he was going to be in like you noted hes been pretty popular in the state. But now giving had aim run for the money and i think that if we zoom out a little bit from these individual races, control of the senate is pair mount here because it is beginning to determine what kind of presidency joe biden has if republicans remain in control, they can, they can do a lot to stop his momentum to hingedder his legislative agenda but if democrats are to take control of that body, well also maintaining control of the house, the possibility of a Biden Administration<\/a> beginning on day one with control of the entire government is very real. Is that why joe biden refuses to answer questions about Court Packing<\/a>, for instance he says, that we will know his, his position on Court Packing<\/a> before election day. But as he himself has said people are already voting. Yeah. This is an issue where the former Vice President<\/a> just has not been transparent. I think it is pretty clear, though, what hes trying to do right here. If he supports Court Packing<\/a> as a policy provision thats gong to fire up a lot of republicans who possibly are sitting on fence right now and that might be a reason for those undecided vote percent to vote for President Trump<\/a>. If he opposes Court Packing<\/a>, you know he takes away that enthusiasm from republicans, but he could potentially alienate some of the more progressive voices in his base who see that as the response to the likely confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett<\/a> i think hes trying to ride the fence and get as close as he can to election day without giving an answer that either hurts or harms his chance it is there.
