Interrupting in tears and booze and protests, did you see that . On and off the Convention Floor as including Bernie Sanders the podium to plead for party unity against donald trump any objective observer will conclude that based on her ideas and leadership, Hillary Clinton must be, the next president of the United States. [applause] we are the United States of america. Our best days are ahead of us and together with Hillary Clinton as our president , we will rise. This choice is personal its about who we are as a people. Its about what kind of a country we want to be. Hillary heard the passion of the people. The people behind bernie. To the bernie or bust people , you are being ridiculous. Dont let anyone ever tell you that this country isnt great. That somehow we need to make it great again because this right now is the greatest country on earth. Jon is bringing our political panel, a. B. Stoddard is a editor with real clear politics, charlie hurt a columnist with the Washington Times so charlie, hows that Democratic Unity thing going . I thought one of the most interesting sites last night was when al franken and the comedian Sarah Silverman came out and tried to unify the crowd before blood bringing out paul simon to sing bridge over troubled waters and they tried to get a hillary canceling and they couldnt get it going and they tried to revert back to unity and that didnt work either so then they just brought out the band and played ridge over troubled waters but obviously there bridge is not working all that well right now. Jon im curious, the guy who many thought would challenge hillary for the nomination, Vice President joe biden is on stage rightnow , taking a walk through the arena before he addresses the convention. All right, so add, what about it . They are looking for unity. This was supposed to be the, compared with the republicans this was supposed to be the party that was all on the same page. How are they doing with that . It gone badly and though it could end better than it is right now, it could end up being worse. The best thing for Hillary Clinton at this point, she cannot control this. Debbie Wasserman Schultz had to step down, she could not control it. The new interim chair can control this, the only person that could have stand out any of this was Bernie Sanders. At a rally yesterday he was here with his own supporters and their response to emails from the campaign seemed to calm things down as a courtesy to him, it didnt work last night either. Theres a potential that Hillary Clinton could get booed on thursday night if the supporters around after this rollcall vote thats so important today. They are saying they want to see him as the nominee and if the vote failed to making the nominee they are going to remain just as upset as they been for the past two days and if they dont leave town theres a real possibility they embarrass the nominee on thursday. Jon mrs. Obama spoke last night, great speech. She did i thought a very good job but she spoke f you simply of Hillary Clinton and there was a time when the obamas didnt seem to feel that way about the clintons so much. Listen to this. What i admire most about hillary is that she never buckles under pressure. She never takes the easy way out. And Hillary Clinton has never quit on anything in her life. And when i think about the kind of president that i want for my girls and all our children , thats what i want. I want someone with the proven strength to persevere. Shes very likable, i agree with that. I dont think im that bad. Jon you are likable enough. Jon what a difference eight years makes, remember that charlie you are likable enough hillary. No kidding and i agree. That speech he gave last night was i thought the high point of the evening. It was a tremendous speech but it was also so different than what weve gotten not only eight years ago but in the past eight years. It was an incredibly unifying thing, it was not overly politicized obviously. She went after donald trump without naming him by name, went after him again and again but did it in a charming way, in a harmful way and the overall speech was one of unification and obviously thats not only something that we could use in the country coming from the white house anyway but is obviously something that democrats are desperate to pull off here tonight in the next few nights. Jon again, down on the floor we are looking at Vice President joe biden who is doing his Convention Center walkthrough ahead of his speech to the Democratic National convention. He was the guy a lot of people wanted to run for president this year. He ultimately didnt do it but there was another senator, Bernie Sanders, a democratic socialist from vermont who did give hillary a run for her money and it seems like the hard feelings are not over yet. Its really going to be a difficult task for her to try to rally Bernie Sanders supporters to her side. This is a race that will be decided on the margins and shes going to need every democrat that she can. Donald trump had a boost at his convention but hes consolidating the republican vote but look, theres no comparison in 2,016 of the contention between Bernie Sanders voters and hillarys campaign. Barack Obama Hillary fight in 2008, she was going to run for president area and she was going to rally behind him. No question. Bernie sanders is running again, his movement is sort of beyond him, not listening to him and his endorsements and his callfor support and how much he campaigns for hillary and how much these voters come to her side will be a deciding factor. Jon im reading from one of our people here at the convention charlie that they are, the committee is in talks with Bernie Sanders that he would place Hillary Clintons name in nomination tonight. In other words, im the guy who came in second. Here is your president ial candidate. What do you think that would do if it happens, and apparently is not a done deal . I dont know and 80 is exactly right. The problem here is that even Bernie Sanders has lost control of his movement. It has become a movement thats operating on its own now and you know, it could maybe worsen but i suspect we will still see a lot of booing and jeering. The one thing that i think is hard, democrats at put as much openness as they could on the first night and if they can get, if they can keep all the ugliness on that first night, they got a pretty good night but we will see tonight whether or not they pull that off. Jon tonight is the night that she actually gets her name in nomination, right . So if they cannot afford party unity, i mean this is the night when Bernie Sanders supporters still have the opportunity to make their voices heard. Absolutely john, this is their night. They are literally here hoping that he can still become the nominee and they know that theres not a chance or a prayer of that but this is a big night, theyre not going to be quiet and theyre not going to come around. Theres going to be no goodbye off tonight and while the hillary voices will be energetic and drown out your going to see dissent on the floor tonight. Jon we saw plenty of it last night. 80 stoddard, charlie harris, have a fun day. Its going to be an interesting one, thanks s. Always is. Melissa police pouring in at the operations of the convention. Take a look at the Convention Hall where garbage is strewn across the floor all over the place this morning. One reporter called the logistics in the sweltering hot philadelphia appalling and chaotic. Dot away has more on this from the Wells Fargo Center in philadelphia. You know, theres so many people we thought were either soaked with sweat for rain, it seems crazy there, whats going on . Melissa, covering the Convention Like this is under the best of circumstances a stressful situation but several factors have conspired to make the dnc in philadelphia a perfect storm of troubles and we do mean storm. All this tremendous heat and humidity expected to last through the week with the heat index at 109 degrees, produced a blockbuster of a thunderstorm last night just as the Convention Speeches were wrapping up area a Flash Flood Warning was issued, evacuation orders for the media tents which arenot designed to withstand lightning strikes were ordered but few reporters heeded them. The tents were rocking and reeling with the storm, and that was only part of it. This huge asphalt complex around which we are working is quite the heat island. Couple that with long walks, some up to a mile from the Parking Spaces to the media tents, many of those poorly airconditioned and youve got a lot of overheated frustrated media area take Andrew Rosenthal in the new york times. He told tv news this morning quote, this is the worst i have ever seen. Dustin roberts we did, too soon to congratulate cleveland for better planning logistics . Theres water covering Electrical Equipment inside the media center. Dana milbank tweeted thousands still in gridlock trying to leave Wells Fargo Center, one hour plus wait for over, shovels and ia. Worst convention ever. Traffic is also a mess across town with all the street closures due to protests and Security Issues and based on reporter complaints, philadelphia could send a citywide overhaul of some of its hotels which one reporter turned squalid. There are a lot of heated tempers out here, take for example the texas exit this morning where a shouting match again interrupted between berniesanders supporters and Hillary Clinton supporters. The forecast for today call for a High Temperature of 96 degrees. Luckily there are no thunderstorms in the forecast , at least outside the Wells Fargo Center, who knows what one to happen inside. Back to you. Melissa im looking at the pictures on twitter and im glad youre there and im here. It i say that . I didnt mean that. Im kidding. We love you, great job the minute this shot ends its off, believe me. Melissa thank you. Thanks to technology, you can hang out with fox news at the convention and get your questions answered from the airconditioning of your home area it is at foxnews. Com on facebook or any other fox news app where the host will stream at 4 pm eastern time then shepard will stream at five eastern, are digital hangouts will also be behind the scenes looking at our coverage of the convention and the preview of tonights event, a lot of fun. John question mark. Jon now to the republicans with donald trump hitting to get battleground states as the nominee just wrapped up and dressed to the veterans of foreign wars in North Carolina before he has off to florida and he took him shot as you might expect and Hillary Clinton. Plus, he also brought us the va week time scandal. There are politicians and totally failed you. Our most basic commitment to provide health and medical care to those who fought for us so bravely and has been violated completely. The va scandal is widespread and totally inexcusable. Jon chief Political Correspondent carl cameron is live in charlotte, carl . Reporter donald trump addressed the vfws annual convention in charlotte North Carolina just a day after Hillary Clinton did and he went after her. Said that she had downplayed the va scandals and the lack of Available Health care for veterans. Said that he would change things dramatically, a complete revamp. Then he have a hotline in the white house for veterans to call in with complaints and again, slammed Hillary Clinton with all the usual attacks that hes been making. He made the argument that her role as a lifelong politician etc. Should disqualify her and that shes not prepared to be the president of the United States, did all the crooked hillary winds that he normally does on the campaign trail and normally this is an organization that tries to stay away from too much partisan rank or at the events but at one point some of the folks here at the vfw conference began chanting lock her up, lock her up and trump quit that he understood that hillary was here yesterday and had not done a particularly good job. Jon carl, thanks and we will be right back. This is judy. Judy is 65 years old. Her mortgage payment is 728 a month. Melissa democrats trying to move past the emails that marred their convention, warnings that more emails may be coming as the focus turns to whos behind the breach and Russian Hackers are the prime suspect. For more on this, morgan freeman, senior fellow at the center for digital government. Morgan, thanks for joining us. I was listening to some of catherine harriss reporting and she talked about how they left behind some malicious code that steals emails and documents and there are other things in there also that suggest that it was a nationstate behind us, like what . Well, this is sophisticated tradecraftso when you get into the intelligence world they say how did somebody do it . Whats their signature, what their tradecraft. Mark this reeks of russia for a lot of reasons. If you want to know whats going on, they heard now originally the fbi was involved, this has me nation state sponsored, number one is thesophistication and number two is the time they were on target. They were in there for over a year collecting this information, this was an ongoing intelligence operation so at this point its not the question of what will be released, its how much and when. Melissa if they were in more than a year, were they able to leak from that security and from those emails to other places . Absolutely and ill tell you what happened, the same thing that happened with city you will call when hisaccount was exposed. So once youre in there you start seeing if there are people emailing from what health they are using and weve known that reporters are targeted, not just by russians but the chinese, North Koreans and other so now you get those accounts you start looking at those accounts so this is just a compromise of the dnc, this is a compromise of the dnc and hundreds of other accounts that were email or in contact and it was a valid enough target he had said hey, this is something we want to go after. That was probably an operation against them as well. Melissa what do you think is the most dangerous thing that could happen, where they are gone . Is a good question because we dont know whats in emails but we do know that some of the emails the staff without was a password to a talking about. One of our accounts so it should be user credentials, information and heres the other danger is because you have information you would appear to be a trusted person in another system so you could have wanted to another system being viewed as trusted and gain access or provide access for other purposes so at this point theres no telling how far and how expensive this penetration is the fact that the fbi is involved, we will find out is going to be just like china, we will invite people but it will never get back to the us. Melissa they were warned that might be a target, it was one of those nonspecific reps, they didnt seem to have done anything about it. It reminds you in ways of Hillary Clinton and her homebrewed server. Article not taking Cyber Security seriously . Whats the take away . I talk to you about this many times with other folks, what does it take for people to get serious . Is that information is power. The ability to influence
