You look at the fact that the irs has the power of intimidation, they are coming in and saying we are going to delay your tax returns because we cant get our ability together. And the president s responds is lets give the mess more money. You get more money, you get a bigger mess. Thats a major problem be. I will tell you what unglues me. A lot unglues me but this in particular. The federal employees, according to our research federal employees owe 3. 3 billion in back taxes. That means if they dock the federal employees on the payroll for the back taxes they owe we would have an extra 1. 3 because he only wants 2 billion. I might add congressional employees, 714,000 of them owe 8. 6 owe 8. 6 million. And the executive office of the president has 36 who owe taxes to the United States taxpayers. Unfortunately greta here is what is happening as well. Some of those employees, more than 1,000 employees are getting bonuses on top of their pay inspite of the fact that theyre in trouble with the irs. So, is this going to happen . Federal employees owe 3. 3 billion. We know who they are. We know where theyre and the president wants 2 billion. Thats a quick fix. Well, if we can negotiate that out we would be in better shape as taxpayers. The bottom line is the president thinks that the answer to all problems is just a little more money. And now the definition of a little is 2 billiondollar increase versus what we suggested is a 3 cut. A 3 cut you are able to continue to do those things that are important for the taxpayers. Unfortunately, what we see instead of focusing on how do we make sure that the taxpayer that has a miserable time until april the 15th every year has an opportunity at the end of the tunnel. The way that you do that is by making sure that we have an irs that is responsive to taxpayers. They are not. You have got the house. You have got the senate. The republican party. If you want to clean up the irs and you have oversight and im not going to lay this on you. But, you know, its time to clean house and to fix it we even got a situation where you have got the commissioner, testifying last year that he no more emails. We find out yes there are emails. I mean every single day we read terrible stories about the irs. But nobody does anything. Hopefully tomorrow, well start that conversation. I think senator hatch and those of us on the finance committee. We are going to sit there and ask specific questions on the 500,000 hours of for union act tiftsdz on the the fact that it costs 23 million to taxpayers or the lavish conferences 50 million in conferences. This is the storm system. We were watching it yesterday move across the midwest, giving historic totals in some cases. Its now moving across the northeast, seeing light snow. In boston and providence clearing out of the connecticut area as well as the tristate area. But look at the temperatures in the 20s and look at the winds. The wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour. The cold artic air is moving. In what im concerned with overnight tonight is the flash freeze that we are anticipating across the try state area.
