An army truck overturning in a swain swollen creek in texas. The state is being slammed with torrential rains. Casey stegall is live in texas with the desperate search for the missing. Casey . Greta, the names of the three soldiers who have been killed at fort hood are not being released at this point. To be honest, we do not have a whole lot of information from the u. S. Military at this point. But, heres what we do know at this hour. A truck apparently carrying multiple soldiers. They were all riding together. Somehow overturned at a low water crossing. They all belong to the first cavalry division. And they were all stationed
at fort hood. Three bodies have been recovered downstream from that truck. Three have been rescued. And are said to be in stable condition at an area hospital and then as you said, six soldiers, sadly, are still missing tonight. Aircraft, canines, boats, everything is being used to find those six who are unaccounted for. This now brings the death toll to 9 across the state of texas. Nine people who have died in this unprecedented flooding seen in many areas like in forth ben county. 100 homes have been impacted here in this one county alone. Residents we have talked to anxiously waiting for the water to recede and are praying that the new rain falling does not cause this river to rise one more inch. The trouble is all of the precipitation falling to our
north can make its way downstream or down river. The governor of the state of texas, greg abbot has declared a disaster in 31 counties and as if this flooding story was not tragic enough with what we have seen down here near houston, up near the austin area, even dallasfort worth now tonight this word out of fort hood tonight that three of our own soldiers have lost their lives and six unaccounted for in these raging floodwaters. Casey, last night you told me that the river is at 55 feet historic levels. Is it receding at all and secondly what is the forecast . Is it supposed to get more rain . It has receded ever so slightly but not much. It is at that very high. The river normally floods at 45 feed and it was about 55 feet. That gives you a sense of how much of a flood stage we
are talking about. In terms of the forecast, the rain is moving in. It has been on and off all day long. Some live shots i have been out here today in the pouring rain. Some the sun has been shining. So its very intermittently but up to 6 inches of rain fell north of houston today and dallasfort worth is getting a town of rain as well. This is a very widespread event. More rain expected tomorrow and possibly into saturday. And that is the last thing people here in the state of texas need at this point, greta. Well, the news about the three dead, six missing soldiers is just unthinkable. Were they out there doing rescue or training . Any information on them . My heart bleeds for these families tonight wondering. I know, greta. I really wish we had that information and, frankly, the folks at fort hood just havent provided us with that. It is not uncommon, we know, for them to be out doing training exercises and
missions that is their job. They do that all the time on a daily basis. They may have well just been out doing their job and doing their work when they encountered this low water crossing. It does not take. Water to sweep away a full size vehicle we know that the old saying turn around, dont drown it may sound trite but it is so true. You cannot risk it we dont note circumstances if the rain was really coming down, if they thought they could perhaps get across the road, it wasnt as deep as they thought, they got into trouble. Navy blue angel pilot killed in a crash. The fighter jet going down in central tennessee. Witnesses saying they saw a huge ball of flier as the plane slammed into the ground. Now this video showing a
massive cloud of smoke rising. The pilots identity has not yet been released. And there has even been more tragedy earlier in the day for our military. Another fighter jet crashed this time the thunder bird. Air force fighter jet crashing in colorado. The f16 the Thunder Birds team had just finished performing it today. Air force Academy Graduation. Luckily that pilot was able to eject and walk away unhurt. That plane crashed in an empty crashy field. Despite crashing the fighter jet is intact and no fire broke out. President obama who happened to be speaking at todays air force Academy Graduation in colorado met later with the pilot and thanked him for his service. In a Foreign Policy speech today on the campaign trail secretary Hillary Clinton ignoring her tuesday primary opponent senator Bernie Sanders and instead taking direct aim at donald trump. Not only cited her Foreign Policy differences with trump but she also went for his jugular. Like many across the country and the world, i believe the person the republicans have nominated for president cannot do the job. [ applause ] Donald Trumps ideas arent just different they are dangerously incoherent. They are not even really ideas. Just a series of bizarre rants. [ laughter ] personal feuds and outright lies. [cheers and applause] he is not just unprepared, he is temperamentally unfit to hold an office that requires knowledge, stability, and immense responsibility. Unlike him, i have some experience with the tough call and the hard work of state craft. I wrestled with the chinese over a climate deal in copen hagan. Brokered a ceasefire between israel and hamas. Negotiated the reduction of Nuclear Weapons with russia. Twisted arms to bring the world together in global sanctions against iran and
stood up for the rights of women, religious minorities and lbgt people around the world. And this is just sort of the hazards of the chosen profession. And its a real tragedy when these things happen. I just my heart goes out to the families, the commanders, the troops that these guys were working
with. You know, the men and women of the blue angels. I mean, jeez, what a tough day. If the six missing dont make it, that would be 10 who died. 10 military tied today just on our soil. Anyway, let me turn now to the Foreign Policy. Who would you feel more secure as commander and chief, a president Hillary Clinton or President Donald Trump and why . President donald trump and here is why. You know, Hillary Clinton today i watched the speech. I didnt think it was much on Foreign Policy at all. And she talked about people who are dangerous. I mean, a secretary of state who lies to the American Public, a secretary of state who uses an unsecure email server to send and receive highly classified National Security information, knowing that she is not doing the right thing, and when you look at some of the actions that she was directly involved in, the rise of the islamic state,
the failure of libya, the failure of the russian reset, the failure of the pivot to the pacific with, you know, with our nobody talks that about it anymore it was such a failure. I could go on and on. Nuclear deal, yemen. So many things that she touched are just utter failures and so when people talk about, you know, whoever the democratic nominee is going to be, and the current policies that we are that we have seen in the last 8 years and, frankly, i could tie a few to the last administration, too. So this is not to let, you know, just a hit the Current Administration and the time that Hillary Clinton was there. But we need a completely new direction in this country. Is donald trump the right direction though . And she has said things, talks about a series of bizarre rants, purge feuds. She goes are a him. where is the confidence that you have in donald trump . In the time that i have
spoken to him, the type of conversations that i have seen and been a part of, i mean, he is in a bit of a, what i would describe as a knife fight in this sort of political debate that were in right now. And he definitely is new to this game. But i would say that you have an individual who is a incredible problem solver. Has great instincts. Has great judgment, has created an Enormous Economic engine within his own business environment, he is somebody who has done a lot. You know, much more than just the political class. And i think there are two other things that he has clearly done. He has put a stake in the political he has put a stake in the heart of political correctness. And he has found an enormous swell public deeply appreciated by washington, d. C. Can someone have too much
confidence and unwillingness to listen to conservatives . One of the things i would assume the president do is listen to military advisors. Sure. You have too much confidence are unwilling to listen to the people. Yeah. I mean i think he can you have to be able to listen and you have to be you have to make sure that you surround yourself with people who arent just like you. You have to be able to have people around you that you are willing to you know, sort of the ones that are going to challenge your views and you dont you he is and hascessful as an been without being able to do that. I mean, you just look at some of the people that he has got around him, close in circle. These are not all people that think like him. I will tell you im not in his inner circle. Can i tell you that i can tell you i dont agree with everything he has said. I do see the type of ideas and things that he wants to do. The greatest threat to our country right now is our economy. Number one. There is no doubt about it in my mind. Everything that i have looked at over my certainly the last decade and the kinds of things that we have been involved in where we have just been wasting resources by this country countryiened and i think Hillary Clinton didnt talk much about the economy. She talked about lofty things and didnt dive into the things that i believe the American Public cares about is the economy of our country. We must protect this economy and protect our livelihood. Not for the next four years, greta, or not even for the next 10 years but for the next 50 or next 100. We are in a different era in this 21st century and we are in the second decade and we are having a very, very difficult time right now. General, thanks for joining us. I hope you will come back. Fox correspondent john hand hunt is live outside the convention center. John than, what are you seeing . Greta, pretty quiet right now. As you said we are about 2 hours and 45 minutes away from the scheduled start of this. And its a very peaceful scene at this moment in downtown san jose. We have got a lot of people lined up in terms of Trump Supporters here the blue and White Building you see ahead of us is where the event will take place. This line stretches a couple of blocks back down here. The Trump Campaign says they are expecting upwards of or up to 15,000 people to attend this rally. Now, whether those numbers will prove to be accurate, we dont know. But either way it seems certain that they are going to outnumber the protesters. I have to say we have not seen any so far on the streets of san jose. They are due to gather in about an hour in a bit. And you can see the tree line up there. There is a park up there where there is an organized protest. They have called on protesters to rally there. And then one assumes they will try to come towards
this set of barriers here. Thats what we have seen in previous events. But we dont know how many there will be. Obviously last night at the rally at the airport in sacramento, there were only a few dozen antitrump protesters. Thats a different situation, of course, being on an airport much harder to get there we are in downtown san jose right now. We could see large numbers but we arent seeing much yet. The police i have to say, greta, seem very well organized at this point here in san jose. Hopefully we will not see the kind of riot scenes that we witnessed in albuquerque where the police appear to do lose control. All quiet for now, greta. Any idea why he picked san jose . I realize california is i mean is, a big democratic place come tuesday. But he has locked it up and he certainly cause some fuss if he is there. Yeah, and, you know, the bay area generally relatively liberal. Its as if donald trump likes to go in to the lions den. Also, he may have the
some impetus to come back to the bay area because you might remember back in april donald trump was somewhat embarrassed when he was due to speak at the state republican convention, tried to get into the hotel where that was being held. The entrance was blocked by protesters. He had to get out of his convoy and walk across concrete barriers. You might remember those pictures. We played them live on fox news at the time. So some embarrassment for him last time he was in the bay area. No doubt he would like to come back to a more triumphant welcome this time around, greta. And he probably wants to stir up more trouble for tuesday because democrats have quite a fight there on tuesday. Jonathan, thank you. Another murder, this one 2,000 miles away in minnesota may be linked. Now this gruesome information coming as police in los angeles are releasing some clues into the killers motive. The suspect shot a professor here william and then himself. About 11 30 or so the scene was cleared inside because they found a note. A note that said check my cat back in minnesota. Gave andreas. So that led authorities to call authorities there in minnesota at the home in minnesota they found another note with a kill list, with three names. The professor here william klug who he did kill. Another professor who was not on campus at the time he did not kill. A third name a woman who we believe at one point he was married to. That woman when they went to check on her welfare in a different address in the minneapolis area she was found dead that led to today when chief charlie beck said while he only killed three people, including himself, he may have done a lot more damage.
