Pandemic and yesterdays gdp number. The economy, the economy is what he is focused on as he heads to michigan. He says he can flip that state. It all comes as both President Trump and joe biden are back out campaigning through several key battleground states today. Both candidates will make remarks during the next hour. The president speaking outside detroit. The former Vice President will be in des moines, iowa. Matt finn is live in waterford township, michigan. Matt . Harris, another packed rally for the president. Thousands of people filing in right now. Temperatures in the 30s. People are dressed in their warm winter gear to fight off the cold waiting for the president to speak here. Right outside the democratic strong hold of detroit and oakland county. This is a county that Hillary Clinton won in 2016. The president is here trying to flip this county red. The president won the state of michigan with about 10,000 votes in 2016. That was his smallest margin of victory in any state across the country. This county, oakland county, is the second most populated. Its a critical county. The president and joe biden are trying to weave various contested michigan counties together for a win in the state of michigan. A short while ago, this morning, the president again attacked the former republican governor of michigan, rick snyder, who endorsed joe biden. The president tweeting i would never have taken the endorsement of a man that poisoned the people of flint, michigan. Rick snyder should be ashamed of himself and his service. Biden took his endorsement. Vote trump. The majority of polls show joe biden with a notable lead. Biden ahead by 6 1 2 points. But bidens lead has grown smaller in recent days. Looking ahead to tomorrow, joe biden is expected to be here in michigan on halloween campaigning with former president barack obama. Obama did unsuccessfully campaign for Hillary Clinton in this area of ann arbor in 2016. Here in michigan, bidens campaign is relying on detroits democrats while the president is appealing to critical counties and suburban women. Harris . Thanks. This is outnumbered. Im harris faulker. Here, dagen mcdowell, kennedy, jessica tarlov. In the center couch seat, town hall Political Editor and fox news contributor, guy benson is with us. Great to see you all. Headed to michigan, guy. The president one last time just in a surprise as 47. 5 to Hillary Clintons 42. 7 . Hes behind in the polls. He talks about how he can flip that. He can turn that around by being on the ground. You say what about the state of michigan and its importance . Its relatively important. The president would like to hang on to it. He just beat Hillary Clinton. Mrs. Clinton was leading in the polls, which looks familiar to this time around. She was so confident, overconfident about michigan four years ago that she spent very little time there at all. Didnt spend a lot of time focused on that state. Assumed she had it in the bag and she did not. Joe biden looks to be relatively solid in that state. This time hes looking to not make the same mistake Hillary Clinton did and not repeat that error. Hes making sure to go to that state, continue to barnstorm there. Weve heard some reports on the ground from democrats even plugged in democrats saying it does feel like this race is tightening and therefore Neither Campaign certainly taking it for granted. If President Trump ends up the victor in michigan, he will have won this election. Even think the paths to victory that a lot of us are expected could be plausible for trump dont include michigan this time around. If he gets that in the bag, its over. Interesting. You know, jessica, theres minnesota coming up later today. The president talked about flipping that state. He said we have 25,000 people who want to come to the rally today. The state will only allow what it calls group under covid19 conditions right now of 250 people. He says i think were going to see minnesota flip. Hes been saying that for a long time. For years. The race has been called a sleeper race by republicans. They think they can also maybe pickoff a senate seat there with tina smith. So i understand why both campaigns are campaigning there in the final days. Guy and i were discussing this yesterday on his radio show. A democrat has not lost the presidency in minnesota since 1972. We looked it up. So i would expect that christine is the best. She makes sure that we know everything we need to know on air. I would expect joe biden to still take minnesota. I think its smart for him to go there and adding on to what guy talked about about no one taking anything for granted. Look at joe bidens final schedule. You can see that he understands the importance of michigan, wisconsin and pennsylvania, the three states that decided 2016. His map is bigger than Hillary Clintons was. Kamala harris will be in taken later today, which moved from tossup to lean blue. Weve seen an early vote total go past the 2016 total in general. Harris county has 24hour voting so shift workers and essential workers can make sure that they can cast their ballot at 3 00, 4 00 a. M. If thats what needs to happen. Georgia tilting towards democrats. Doing better in florida. The final poll shows joe biden with an vantage there and North Carolina could be on the board for us. So joe biden has a wider map than Hillary Clinton did in 2016. You know, kennedy, thats an interesting point. Hillarys down fall was that the rust belt was not touched. Maybe perhaps it was i dont know. Maybe it was scheduling. But for a man who has been accused of predominantly being in his basement and by that i mean in his home state, that would be correct. Hes getting out there now and as jessica points out, his map is wider certainly than what we saw four years ago. How much of a difference do you think that makes this time around . I think its going to be a different race. Some of the states that we assume will go one way might go the other. Its not going to be a Straight Path for either one of these candidates. I do think the race is closer than some of the National Polling suggests. Joe biden, like his instinct is to shut down the Campaign Like the president has accused him of wanting to shut down the country. I know that he and senator harris are traveling to some of these various states that are in play, but if he loses, it will be because he didnt get out and put a lid on so much of his campaign and the critical final weeks. Well see what happens. Again, its so exciting that really some of these massive states up for grabs like pennsylvania, like florida, like texas, like arizona, like georgia, they really could go either way. Isnt that what were all invested in . Isnt that what were here for . Were here for all of it, kennedy. Just for people to vote. Lets make voices known across america. I hear you, girl. Meanwhile, President Trump and joe biden going after each other in duelling opeds today that you can read at foxnews. Com. The president hit joe biden over his economic record. Writing the largest threat to our american comeback is a joe biden presidency. Biden is running on a platform that would destroy all our economic progress. Biden has failed in leading a economic recovery once when he presided over the slowest economic since the Great Depression when he was Vice President. Biden writing day 1 ill mounts an aggressive approach to control this virus. Ill make sure we dont just recover from the economic slump but build back better before creating an economy that deals everyone in. I wont raise taxes on anyone making under 400,000 a year but i will make big corporations and the super wealthy pay their fair share. Dagen, very different messages from two different men. As kennedy pointed out, its a different election. I said this yesterday. Joe biden bragging about raising taxes on corporation. That means less money for the employers to hire people back that want to go back to work after the pandemic shut down who hire new workers will give people raises. So that goes to, yes, higher taxes do hurt everybody in this country. He also plans to raise the top rate on income taxes and capital higher than at any time since its been in the 1970s. The written word benefits President Trump if you believe in policy over personality. It removes the personality that turns some people off and focuses on accomplishments and the road out of this downturn. We saw the snap back in the third quarter. One thing ill add about joe biden. Ive said this repeatedly. Clearly meant that the biden administration, if he gets elect elected wants to transition away from the oil industry. That means destruction of millions of jobs and puts us in a weaker position on the world stage. Dan yeargan said this on maria bartiromos show on the fox business network. Since 1973, nine president s have been in favor of energy independence. Well, weve achieved that. Were the Largest Oil Producer in the world. We have power over nations that hate us. But if you reduce our fossil fuel production, natural gas and oil, you put us in a situation where you have to import more oil from nations that want to wipe us off the planet. How does that make sense . I want a reaction. Jessica, ill give it to you. First of all, joe biden would not interoffice and the next day the oil would be destroyed. Thats what his supporters are trying to make it out to be. The truth of the matter is, Oil Companies are in favor of the policies that joe biden is touting. They want to move to clean energy and they know we can create millions of jobs if we do that. I understand that that is the messaging coming out of the Trump Campaign and why theyre doing it to scare people in states like pennsylvania and texas. But i dont believe that people are buying it. Joe biden has shifted in a number of surveys to be the candidate that people most favor to manage the economy. All right. Everybody can read about President Trump and joe bidens views of the future. Their opeds are in full exclusively on foxnews. Com. Their arguments from both candidates. Go and read them for yourself. Plus, days before the election, another court ruling on mailin ballots. [narrator] at walmart, target and other fine stores. Kennedy millions of americans taking advantage of early voting this year. 81,000 have already cast their votes. Yesterday, a court ruled that minnesota must get mailin ballots by election day and others have to be put in a separate pile. In pennsylvania, theres concern over prepaid mailin ballot envelopes which are typically not automatically post marked. That could make it hard to prove if they were in fact delivered on time. A Postal Service spokesman said theyre working to ensure every ballot is labelled. But adds under the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling that allows the threeday extension, ballots with no post mark or an illegible post mark are presumed to be post marked by the election day deadline unless it was mailed after the deadline. Obviously this varies state by state. If you havent voted already, you better have a plan. Mailing it in and those two states in particular could be problematic. So guy, what do you make of this . Either said is going to say when they lose, there was postal chicanery. What can they do . Guy youre right. Every legally cast ballot should be counted as promptly as possible. Part of the concern i have, this whole thing that people are making out of Voter Suppression because theyre not allowing for the various suspensions. State set their own laws. Its very important for the rules of the game to be established before the game is playing out. To change things on the fly i think is concerning. And i understand people saying oh, the Supreme Court ought to do this or ought not do that. Ultimately states have a great deal of supremacy on this issue. Theres a compelling interest for the established rules from the beginning remain intact and dont get changed at the very last minute because they will have more distrust in an area of great deal of distrust that already exists. Kennedy you know, both sides are talking about not conceding and contested elections. Theres been a big push from the left and people in hollywood to get people to get out and vote as early as possible. But isnt this some of the fallout from that . Jessica im not sure its some of the fallout from that. What has happened is its been complicated that we have a post master general who has been openly aggressive about mailin ballots and make sure post people are delivering on time. Were hearing in new york that you shouldnt be mailing in your ballots anymore. People should still be about to do that during a Global Health pandemic of this level. What i would love to see is a lawsuit from republicans that was trying to make it easier for people to exercise their constitutional right to vote. We have seen nothing of that. We even had an opinion from Brett Kavanaugh that got slapped down by the state of vermont because it was inaccurate in discussing changes that vermont made to election law. Republicans have tried to make it harder for americans to vote. Thank god theres an army of democratic lawyers that are trying to fix that. Guy is correct. If you legally cast your ballot, it should count in the swing states where we know the e election will be decided. Guy legal is key. Kennedy every state is allowed to say when their ballots are accepted. For some places, it has to be post market and received by election days. Other days it has to be post marked and they will allow as the suits have shown. Dagen, a big problem here and the president touched on this the other day, people that want to change their vote, who have already mailed in their vote. What do you know about that . Dagen exactly. One thing i want to point out about pennsylvania, the problem is the posted, prepaid on the ballot envelopes. Typically prepaid envelopes are not postmarked. Was pennsylvania paying attention to new york . The problem with Carolyn Malone and her primary race with siraj patel . Hes joined a lawsuit over that problem. This was in june. Why is this happening in pennsylvania, number 1 . You know what, i said this before. If you have been to a home depot wearing a mask at the height of the pandemic, youve been out grocery shopping, going to the drugstore, getting your medications, maybe a little red bull and cocacola, you can go vote. As frank luntz pointed out, two to one trump voters will come out election day. Two to one biden voters voted early. Theres a lot of panic pedalling going on in other places. You can be safe. Keep your distance. Wear a mask. Vote. Exercise your right. Kennedy and if you have a mailin ballot that you havent mailed in yet, you can drop that off at your polling place. Most places it is accepted. Harris, take us home, my dear. Harris it is all about personal responsibility now. If you have waited until now, its too late to mail it. The ballot box, there should be some on a website in your state as it is in mine, in new jersey. Where theres ballot boxes are or you can take it to wherever youre told to in your state. Here you may have to take it to a county or Federal Building as well. Whatever the options are, you have until tuesday. Id say some of this is frustrated by the fact that republicans have done so well. Guy, i have to ask you about this. Theyve done so well in the past with early mailin voting. In fact, they have crushed democrats in this. Democrats are never organized to really get this going and lots of democrats have told me, you know, only per the necessity of covid19 like they have tried this. I dont know per state that is true but certainly republicans have won. Thats why you see the tightening in the early voting in places like florida as well where biden is rocking 41 butu trump at 38. So you may get both. Right . On election day. In which case i asked guy, why was the president like messing with that . Just curious. Youll have to ask him directly. Long ago i stopped trying to figure out and determine exactly what the president is thinking behind every single bit of messaging that he puts out there. I will say that republicans, one of their potential advantages this year is a really strong and robust ground game. The party has been building it now for four years. Maybe they didnt have that nearly as well oiled four years ago. They made significant strides on that front. Now, the question is, when you see the gap being closed in a place like florida or arizona, are those potential, you know, election day voters cannibalizing the election day vote . Theres so many factors here that its difficult to derive any strong lessons based on tea leaves on early voting. Thats one of my cautionary tales. Harris so dont look at the past. Kennedy wellside. No, you cant look at the past. Everything is on its head. Whether its ground game or getting out the vote. The message. Thats why anything can happen. We dont know. Theres so many chips in the air, we dont know where theyre going to fall. Some fell in to the hands of the postal employees and well see how they deliver them. President trump and joe biden set t
