FOXNEWSW Shepard Smith Reporting December 6, 2018

Remarking on how it sort of gives you a real warm feeling to know that these hundreds of thousands of people have taken time out of their busy day, no doubt, do you come stand by train tracks to pay honor to a man who served our nation for more than 40 years. Its a remarkable thing to see here deep in the heart, some small towns. We are working to find out where the train is. There is a pool just past magnolia texas along the way. This week, the bush family is traveling with the casket by car and plane over thousands of miles. His final journey, all of the family on board, slated to look like all of them, named bush 4141. Family and friends will then bury him at the Bush Library Center in College Station, texas, next to his beloved wife of 73 years, and their young daughter, who died. This morning, about 1200 people gathered here, a packed house at Saint Martins episcopal. The largest episcopal sanctuary here in the state of texas with about 9,000 members. To remember him as a dedicated Public Servant and president of the u. S. The president s friend and secretary of state said it bush 41 had the courage of a warrior, but the greater courage of a peacemaker. Secretary baker said president bush was not only his boss but also a role model and friend. I am glad to have u. S. Such a friend, to which i reply on behalf of his friends here today and throughout the world, we rejoice, mr. President , that you are safely tucked in now, and through the ages, with gods loving arms around you, because our glory, george, was to have had you as our president and as such a friend. Shepard the referenda today today president bush 41s friends and family gathered that he imagined barbara greeting her husband after he died with her hands on her hips, saying what took you so long . Casey reporting live in spring, texas, where the train left the station. Hi. Can you not just here barbara bush saying that . We always heard that she was sort of the enforcer, that she had that sharp tongue. But after her passing eight months ago, the president said that he was not ready, and that he still had life to live. And he got one more summer, and he was able to get back here to his beloved texas and pass away in the same home that his beloved barbara passed away in. You know, when you talk about the train making its way through magnolia, texas right now, when you look at the mouth, the route map, thats about the third stop or so from where it originally left this location where we are in spring, texas. Suburb of texas. You can see from the map there how many different smaller texas cities they will be traveling through. And that is by design, especially because it gives all of those people a chance to say their goodbyes. The people who did not have the opportunity to take off of work or to leave or to make the drive down to houston and see the president lying in repose at his church there, or to be outside, sort of see the circus that is all of the dignitaries and the people from all over arriving to pay their respects. This gives them an opportunity to do that as the train rolls through their small texas towns the train funeral car, the one that is painted like an american flag, that is the car out of the 13 cars on the train carrying of the flag draped casket. And it is on display for all to see, and a plexiglass window with special lighting. So we have seen people gathering by the thousands alongside the road up above those bridges just to get a glimpse. And you know whats really interesting about this is that it is all about tradition. It is all about pomp and circumstance. We have seen that this past week with all of the rituals that come along with saying goodbye to a former president. And we understand and we know from historians that the president loved that, that bush 41 loves the tradition, that he loves all of that. The pomp and circumstance. So that is what we have seen, and right up until the very end, this train ride itself is historic because 1969, that is the last time a train was used it to carry of sitting president to their final resting place. And that was dwight eisenhower, after his National Funeral in washington, d. C. , his remains were put on a train and carried all the way to kansas, where he was buried at his president ial library, so a lot of History Today with this train ride. Shepard, as it makes its way up to College Station where he will be laid to rest in a private ceremony later today. Shepard casey, thanks. They will get to texas a m and less than an hour, and that is where we find lazy akonia. We expect him to arrive, but what will we see . Hi, shepard. We will see this as a private ceremony. Will be much more quiet in comparison to Everything Else that we have seen throughout the days, but i am standing over here to the rights of the George Bush Library and museum. It will, barbara bush a drive. It leads right to the museum. It will be flanked by the texas a m corps of cadets who will offer a salute to the president as he comes in. I saw this during Barbara Bushs funeral. They are planning the exact same thing. They go around the building and to the back it, and it will be the small pond. They designed this whole entire area here. The family will get out of their vehicles. They will walk around a path, and behind these gates, and they will walk over a bridge there. They will have their final very private ceremonies. This is something that the public will not see. It will be theirs alone. Shepard. Shepard a flyover for the ages today. Yes, absolutely. This is going to be an unprecedented 21 flight Strike Fighter air flight flyover. That has never been done before. And then number three aircraft in this final flight will execute the missing man maneuver over the george bushs president ial and museum. And shep, we have been told that the number three plane on the lefthand side, where the pilots usually goes, it will have president George Herbert walkers name. And on the right, it will say barbara, first lady, the copilot here in the situation. And off it will go. Shepard love it. Alecia cuny alive for us. They brought out to the school kids. Lining up for a moments of history. We really didnt know what to expect from this train ride. We did not know the particulars of what would happen along the way. Frankly, we werent aware that we would have these amazing pictures. Cameras on either side. These small town american themes. The people out with american flags. Served as the director of the white house personnel under bush 41, and is live with us. I dont know if you have been watching this, but this has just been the greatest thing to see. The flag with the state of texas, people waving into taking videos. This is fantastic. It is fantastic. George bush and barbara bush, they were beloved by texans. Often sometimes erroneously, it is said that texas was his adopted state. You know, it was wholeheartedly his stage when he moved there. The biggest venture from the east coast to start his family, young family. And start his family there. And they, both of them, embraced the states and the city of houston. Put it on the world stage, made at this sides of the g7 the summit. The sights of his nominating convention in 1992. Texas loves it george and barbara bush, and they loved it back. Seeing all of these people lining up along this route, just a beautiful tribute from around the country this last week since he passed, its just very heartwarming. And i know it is also very comforting to the family. Shepard im confident it is. The former president speaks so lovingly of him. You spent a lot of time on trips with him, but in 2005, we went to cover the funeral of Pope John Paul ii, and you were on air force one at the time and had some moments with former president s, right . I did. At that time, i was serving as chief of staff to laura bush. And we were flying over president george w. Bush, and invited the president to attend the funeral of pope john. And i had a few private moments to sit with george w. Bush and ask him about this relationship that has been blossoming now for months at that time between he and former president bill clinton. The man who beat him was good in 1992, an election that hurt us all so badly, especially the president. And i asked him about this relationship with him. He said you know, look at, im an old guy. Bill likes to talk. I like to listen, but i also think im the father he never had. It just is speaks volumes about george w. Bush, putting all politics aside. Its about people, and its about our country. And the message that it sends. Rivals, friends, but really do tell mike to just support each other. Shepard so nice to talk to you. Some uplifting thoughts on the day of a celebration of a great man. Thank you so much. Much more ahead from here in texas as the train rolls along. Deep in the heart some of the other news of the day coming your way on on fox news channe. Alive look at the United Nations, where the u. S. Is pushing for a vote to condemn the terror group appeared we will go live to the u. N. As our reportingmu continues. Accident, Liberty Mutual wont raise their rates because of their first accident. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. To spellbinders, pathfinders, to grand plan designers. To historians, victorians, and all the targaryens. To gastronomers, astronomers, and new cinematographers. To wizards, to witches, to those who cross stitches. If youre a dreamer, big thinker, or discovery seeker. Through these doors, more wonder awaits. Nobody knows books like we do. Barnes noble. Shepard will come of the former president heads to College Station for internment. The United Nations is set to vote on a measure condemning the terror group. Reporting live from the u. N. We expect the General Assembly to get underway. It was supposed to begin at 3 00. They were talking among themselves. The vote on this resolution is not binding. It is largely symbolic it, but it could be historic. For the first time ever, if this resolution passes, the United Nations would call for the condemnation of hamas. Now this is under the departing u. S. Ambassador to the United Nations, nikki haley. She is calling for the world bodies to take action. Gaza, in the hands of hamas, home to some 2 million palestinians. They have been condemned as a terror group. The u. S. Resolution condemns them for launching rockets and incendiary devices into israel. Almost a ruptured war. Hamas fired hundreds of rockets, indiscriminately targeting israeli communities. Sense of personal letter urging the passage of this resolution. She wrote through the firing of rockets, hamas has been dangerous to lives of innocent civilians. This behavior is unacceptable here. I should say that whether or not this resolution passes is still uncertain. Bolivia is going to attach an amendment to it that could actually result in the United States deciding to withdraw this resolution voting against its own resolution. Also uncertain, it is possible that a simple majority may do, or it may require twothirds of the vote. These are some of the things that at this hour remain unclear. This is the General Assembly getting ready for what could be an historic day. Shepard. Shepard for her part, and buster haley is the way out. Very much so. She wants her legacy to be the action that she has taken. Nikki haley sent in her letter of resignation, saying that she would serve until january of 2019. That day fast approaching. She wrote in that letter that she was not going to run for office. Shes going to remain a private citizen. Recently, there have been reports that she sold her home in south carolina. She wants to remain a public citizen. It is a possibility she could write a book, but this for nikki haley, the United States, and the middle east, it is a very important day. She is urging passage of this resolution. This could be her legacy here as of now. What happens remains uncertain. Shepard. Shepard David Lee Miller reporting live from the United Nations. Just like your dad right . Yeah, just like you, dad. Shepard will, it was a horrible morning on the dell for sure. Almost all, in fact all of the money that was made in the market was wiped out when it was at 800 points. Now as you can see, it has recovered it substantially, so maybe we are in the green for the year at least. Reporting from the New York Stock Exchange. A lot of china concerns. You are not kidding. What everybody was focused on at the beginning of the year, top chinese tech executive working for a Company Called huawei. A telecommunications department, bigot, big she was arrested. Come to find out that there were allegations that she had violated sanctions that we have with iran. Canada has arrested her on our behalf. Traders looking at that. They were worried about our trade negotiations with china. Is that going to blow it up . Will there be no negotiations with china because of this very issue . Part of that is because huawei is a very important company. The leader of this company is considered the bill gates of china. So that was the issue that forced companies to sell off this morning. Turning around a little bit. Only down 32 points on the s p. The good news here is that trading volumes are high. Up 25 . So why is that good news . That means that there is conviction behind this trade. People were really feeling it. This is what they want to do. This is good news. I go around the floor and talk to you traders all day long. They are starting to feel a little bit better this afternoon. Concerns about the market, the economy, oil prices. Talked about that an hour ago. Now we are seeing some bottom nibbling on some of these stocks. Amazon, google. So that is good news that we are seeing some of these stocks get up. An interesting fact about facebook that i found it earlier today, 93 of mutual funds have sold their facebook shares, their sticks, over the last several months. So what you are seeing professional investors kind of sour on this. You will have to wait and see what they make of it, whats waits for them in the coming months ahead. Today, little bit more positive here. I hate to say this. The stock market, it is like a basketball game. You only really need to see the last few minutes you know what went on. We will have to wait and see what happens in the last few minutes of the market. But Getting Better for now. Shepard this is just crossing from our corporate cousins at the wall street journal. They share common ownership, and i just got an alert from them. Heres what it says. Officials are considering whether or not to signal in december new waitandsee approach that could slow the pace of rates increases. The wall street journal tweeted that it sent out that alerts in the last minute and a half. It looks like the dow has recovered a few points. That would be good. Why would this be positive . Because they blow their rate hikes. If they dont raise rates as much as anticipated, thats good news for people who borrow. Thats good news for like the lifeblood of the market, and companies money. Cheaper to operate. Its that simple. Traders like to see that. You know, its good news for many, many companies. Banks like to see higher rates because they make money on it. Focusing on Interest Rates for the last several weeks. Expecting one more rate hike in september, and i guess we will have to wait and see for that headline. Shep. Shepard yup, we will see of the wall street journal moves the market on that note. Great to see if you think you so much. Gerri willis reporting live up from the floor of the New Yo
