This is a great tribute to the efforts of the people of those communities but as the president suggests, when we unveil the guidelines of the team has been working to present tomorrow to our nations governors, we are going to reflect on the fact that as the president said, there will be areas of the country that will require continued mitigation, strong efforts and there will be other areas of the country that will be given guidance for greater flexibility. The president has so directed our team. When we think of more than 619,000 americans having tested positive, more than 45,000 having recovered, we wanted to announce today that the fda recently announced efforts to facilitate the development and access of convalescent plasma youve spoken about this. People who have recovered from the coronavirus have antibodies in your bloodstream that can attack the virus. The mayo clinic today is working with the red cross to make sure the coronavirus patients have access to the convalescent plasma treatments and over a thousand institutions across america have already joined this program. We want to urge every american who has recovered from coronavirus for at least two and preferably four weeks to contact your local blood or Plasma Donation Center<\/a> and arrange to donate. Its one more way that the American People<\/a> can do their part and step forward. Thousands of already done so when we know that tens of thousands will join them. On the subject of supplies, ill be very brief because you detailed a great amount the air bridge has completed 44 flights, 56 more are scheduled but on the subject of facial masks which are so important for critical infrastructure, im pleased to report that the delivery through the air bridge is 22 million facial masks. The average inventory in the network over a sevenday period is 80 Million Masks<\/a> and fema is working as we speak to move facial masks to priority infrastructure. There will be 6. 5 Million Masks<\/a> that go out before the end of this week and an additional 20 million for april 20th. We will be adding 6. 5 million for each and every week. As we stand here today, 576 doctors, nurses, and other military medical professionals have been deployed to 13 hospitals across the nation. Ten in new york and one in connecticut, texas, and louisiana each. As the president reflected a few days ago, because we did not have happily did not have demand on the javits center, at the president s direction, we have deployed doctors and nurses from that facility to two hospitals. We were just speaking to mayor de blasio just before we came out and he expressed his great admiration and appreciation for the relief that these medical personnel had provided to incredibly dedicated people in our hospitals. 258 medical personnel were deployed off the ship into new york. With that, ill step aside but its remarkable to think of all have accomplished accomplished over the last month since you first issued the president ial guidelines for america. The truth is because of what the American People<\/a> have done over the last 30 days, we are slowing the spread. If you look at abbott what they have come up within a short period of time, roach has been incredible. We have the best tests in the world and we will be working very much with the governors of the states. We arent going to be running a parking lot in arkansas, we arent going to be running a parking lot where you have a walmart which has been great, by the way, theyve done a fantastic job where you have a Testing Center<\/a> and running that from washington, d. C. , the states are much better equipped to do it. Well to be working with the states, we will work very closely with the governors in terms of getting additional equipment. It used to be three, four weeks ago, two weeks ago, could we get more ventilators more ventilators. We got them ventilators, you dont hear that anymore, its amazing what we have been able to do. [reporter questioning] President Trump<\/a> i think the companies will determine that and the governors will determine that and if we are not happy, we will take very strong action against a state or a governor, if we arent happy with the Java Governor<\/a> has been doing, will not let know about it and there is very strong action we can take including a close down. We will work closely with the governors, the relationship has been very good. The Vice President<\/a> is at a lot of conversations with 50 or almost 50 governors on every conversation and they have been really positive conversations. We would have the right to close down what they are doing, i dont think there will be any reason to do that but we have the right to do that. President trump i dont know too much about it but i understand my name is there, i dont know where they are going, how they are going, i understand its not delaying anything and im satisfied with that. Reporter rhode island is seeing increasing cases from people coming from boston and new york, you just said you would like to reopen states before may 1st, how will you stop a second spike in cases of people are traveling between states . How will you control the flow of people . President trump the governors can control that flow, i just saw a little while ago it was reported that certain borders are being controlled already by states, starting to take control of their borders which is good. They may do testing for people wanting to come in, i read that about rhode island, they have to watch it, they have to be very careful. Reporter you said along with other nations what form would it take . Are you considering relaxing the border between canada and the u. S. . President trump our relationship with canada is very good, well talk about that, it will be one of the early borders to be released, canada is doing well, we are doing well, at some point we will be doing that. In the meantime, nations that are heavily infected, we have a lot of nations that are heavily infected, some are getting better, some are still on the way up unfortunately. We are keeping strong borders but with canada we are talking about different things. Reporter you said evidence to suggest nationwide we are past the peak on new cases, what is your evidence from that . President trump we are looking at the numbers, looking at our graphs, looking at the models, we are getting great response from debra and tony and the professionals were working with us and i think based on that, we are doing very well. Based on that, it looks like we are headed in the right direction. But some states are looking at other states and they are saying i cant imagine what they are going through because they arent in that position, they are in very good shape. I would say we have 20 states at least but you really have 29 that are in extremely good shape with few exceptions, you have every state that is either doing better or on the way to doing better. Earlier you were saying that now is not the time for partisanship, how will that lower the partisanship in this town and could hinder your ability to get something done on coronavirus . President trump its been a very partisan government for a long period of time, not justice administration, you can go to the last two administrations, youve seen a lot of partisanship. You would think as an example with the paycheck plan, thats going so well, so smooth, so beautiful, almost without a hitch. All of that money is being distributed to Small Businesses<\/a>, they are giving it to their employees, its keeping it viable and it has been so good that it has been almost depleted and we want to replenish it and we cant get the democrats to approve it and thats a program that they and everybody else admit are great. You do have partisanship, we have been trying for years to get people approved for positions. People left one man left a law firm, one man left a very successful executive, he left. If we have people that have been waiting for three years and we cant get them approved by the democrats in the senate because they are taking so long to approve our judges i have to tell you that i am totally in favor of what mitch is doing with judges because that always seems to be a priority and its a very important priority. I think its one of the great trademarks of this administration. We have approved record numbers of federal judges and appellate judges and two Supreme Court<\/a> judges but rather than approving somebody who is highly qualified, somebody that Everybody Knows<\/a> is going to be approved, rather than going quickly, they take the maximum amount of time, whatever that time may be and what they are doing by doing that is taking days to approve somebody who could be approved in a quick vote. People that get phenomenal reviews and committee are going maximum number of hours and what they do because theres only so many hours in a day. We could have said lets stay i would have been in favor of that, they didnt choose to do it but i have a very strong power, i would rather not use that power. We have weigh over 100 people that we very badly needed in this administration that should have been approved a long time ago and one of them is the head of the voice of america. If you look at what they are doing and what they are saying about our country, its a disgrace, the people that are running that. We have somebody thats really good, really talented and loves our country and i want to get these people approved, thats one of many we have professionals, youve been waiting, how long have you been waiting for the man weve been talking about coming in . Two and a half years. Its sunny purdue, happens to be here, hes been waiting for one of the most important positions as secretary of agriculture, its distribution. We are talking about shelves and cupboards, he needs it. The person is exceptional, that person left a very good job and its embarrassing to me, he will say do you think you will get that man approved, hes been saying that to me for a long time. Its because of the democrats and what we are doing and i think anybody here would do it, judges are a priority, the federal judges going to sit for 50 years, potentially a young judge thats always going to have to be a priority but because they are taking so much time in approving they are trying to put us through. When you talk about partisanship and it is never happened before. You can look at every administration in the history of this country, nobody has ever had hundreds of people not approved after three and a half years. What is the timeline for th that . President trump they are warned right now if they dont approve it, we are going to go this route and we will probably be challenged in court and we will see who wins. But when the court hears that we arent getting people approved, as sonny would say for two and a half years for an important position that we need because of this crisis we needed these people before but now we really need these people. Reporter back to the numbers for a second, when you talk about the numbers, the jobless claims are going to come out tomorrow, its likely around 5 million more americans putting their names in for Unemployment Benefits<\/a> but yet there are still a couple thousand people die because of the coronavirus when you talk about opening up the American Economy<\/a> now, how do you balance that decision out given both of those figures . President trump there has to be a balance. Theres also death involved in keeping it closed. I believe this so strongly, when you look at the mental health, you look at suicides, suicide hotlines which are exploding, people losing their jobs, when you look at drugs and people who didnt take drugs and now they are becoming drug addicted because they are going through a problem, they have no job, they have no money coming in, other than the money we are getting them weve opened up the coffers to a large extent, we are helping people, this is why the democrats would help us a little bit with it, its purely partisan what they are doing and its bad for our country. There is death by having this strongly close country, we have to get back to work. With all of that being said, we are going to start with states and with governors that have done a great job and they are going to open it up as they see fit and we are going to be right behind them and working and supplying we want them to have them. If we are going to be helping with ventilators after this is over so they cant say the federal government theyve had a lot of options, many of the governors have had a lot of options over the years to buy ventilators, they can choose to do it. We are going to be helping them to fill up their stockpiles, we are going to have plenty. Im very proud to do it, we are going to be helping other nations. Italy, spain, france, other nations, we are going to be helping them strongly, i think russia, they are going to have a hard time in moscow, we are going to help them. Were going to help other countries that need ventilators. You see it with general motors, other companies that are producing, we are going to have hundreds of thousands of ventilators and its a great thing to have. Is anybody freezing . Its very cold out here. We can leave early, right . A couple of more. Reporter why do we have 20 of the worlds deaths and only 4 of the worlds populati population . President trump to think youre getting honest numbers from some of these countries, do you think the numbers in this vast country called china they have a certain number of cases is anybody really believe that . We report everything, we report the cases and are reporting is good, we are reporting every death. In fact i see this morning where new york added 3,000 deaths because they died and they are now saying rather than a heart attack, theyre saying its a heart attack caused by this if you look at it, thats it. Everything we have is documented reported and what they are doing is just in case, they are calling at this thats okay, thats okay. We have more cases because we do more reporting. We have more cases because everything is down but does anybody really believe the numbers of some of these countries that you have been watching and you been reporting on and then its like they didnt have the big thing. There have been some really, really bad heavily and some countries that are in big trouble and they are not reporting the facts. All i know is we report the facts and we are a country thats getting better. They are considered a developing nation and we are not, we are developing nation too in my book, we are developing too. The fact is we have been treated so badly by these organizations and believe me, im looking at that one too. We are winning a lot of lawsuits that we never won before, we are winning a lot of money that we never won in the past, with the World Health Organization<\/a> what has happened there is a disgrace. Heres the other thing, we pay 400 to 500 million a year, china is paying 35 million a year they control this group, i could do that too if i wanted to devote full time to it and having very capable people i could do very well with that. But they are either going to have to make massive changes, i dont know if theyre going to be able to do that, or we are going to give money to people we want to help people. You heard the chairman of the joint chiefs ask about outcome of the intelligence was inconclusive but there is a growing belief that the covid19 virus originated in the wuhan lab, not as a bio weapon but as chinas effort to find and deal with viruses to show the world it was as good or better than the u. S. On that front. Its believed the virus was back to human, human to human patient zero, went to the population of wuhan and the virus spread from there. China moved quickly to shut down travel domestically from wuhan to the rest of china but did not immediately stop International Flights<\/a> from wuhan. Decision but the president appears to be warming up to this line of thinking and really the origins of this virus had become a big, big story if it all pans out as these sources are saying. There is no question about that and thats why i asked the president the followup because he speaks to president xi i asked the president if any the conversations he has had in recent months with president xi or even going back a couple of years there is this reporting that we have confirmed now that officials from the u. S. Embassy in beijing visited this virology lab and were concerned enough about a lack of safety protocols there that they cabled back to the state department that something should happen on this front to tighten up their security protocols. Thats why i asked the president if he ever spoke to president xi about that in the president said im not going to tell you what i talked to him about in regard to the laboratory but it does indicate that there may have been a conversation there. In the meantime, all of this new information is swirling. The president still embroiled in the midst of controversy over his decision in the rose garden or at least the announcement that he is going to temporarily cut funding for the World Health Organization<\/a>. President trump and his team is standing by his decision to cut funding to the World Health Organization<\/a> for 60 to 90 days, the white house insisted the w. H. O. Dropped the ball on the outbreak in china. The return on investment would be for the w. H. O. To be honest about the origin of the virus in wuhan, they lied about that or want transparent about that.
