I thought it was interesting and i thought the message was a very smart one for him. I thought the line about he wants us to be remembered for what weve done this year was a significant line that kind of sums up the entire message if you ask me. For year a year that began withm under impeachment over things that i would say were fantastical and made up and purely artisan, even as that was going on, you have the pandemic lurking and the president , i think can be credited for as bad as the economy has been this year, he avoided absolute catastrophe and as he pointed out in that message, he paved the way to usher in these vaccines that everybody said would be impossible. All of the political opponents who decided to take the pandemic and turn it into politics but that is the state of politics today, i guess. I thought it was a strong message on a smart one for him to give today. And susan, your thoughts on the video and the effort to basically speed up getting the shots into the arms of the American People. Well, thats the end administrations big problem right now. He does deserve credit for operation warp speed, which kind of clear the way for private companies to quickly provide a vaccine much faster than anyone thought was possible. But now the distribution part comes into play and like any Big Government program, it runs into problems. And i think i heard the president today playing defense. And he does that quite a bit. I think he believes his administration was never given fair coverage and i also think his administration encountered problems that no other president has encountered. And that is true. Not only did he face impeachment this year and he got past that but then came the pandemic. And if you look into what he said today were he talked about the strength of the economy, bringing back the manufacturing jobs, rate recordbreaking economic growth, all of these happening before and even after the pandemic. If you look at the stock market and job growth at their the pandemic hit. He has had a lot of success and he has done a good job on a lot of things. Much of it has been overshadowed, though, and it has been that way since day one of his presidency when the entire story was that he colluded with the russians until everyone got tired of that and then it was about how he handled the pandemic and he did make mistakes and there are and have been problems. But a lot of his accomplishments were wildly overshadowed by very few media coverage. I thought what you heard him say today was kind of along those lines. Let me highlight the good things weve done. Your highlight on the coverage is interesting because you saw the White House Team do that video themselves. We were not invited into be a part of it and to perhaps ask questions. Chuck, your thoughts on the video and the president s message on the final day of 2020. While, susan is right. The president feels he doesnt get enough credit. Thats the way he feels all the time no matter what is going on. And so, yes, its no surprise that he would spend the last day of 2020 demanding more credit for all of the good things he has done. To some extent, im in agreement with my colleague that operation warp speed is truly remarkable and has received perhaps not as much credit as he deserves. But what i found striking was that at the end of the year was so many people dying and at least some of that death could have been avoided with better performance by him and by other levels of government. The president proceeds with a triumphal message as if everything has been terrific in 2020 and in fact several hundred thousand people dead. Their families all over the country are mourning them and there is no acknowledgment. There is no not in that direction of all of that pain. And i think there never has been or there has been very little of it from him. That is just not his style. Its not what he does. But i think a lot of people watching this message are going to consider that a big omission. All right, lets give it to georgia, which is obviously huge. Final days, crunch time. And its interesting for many reasons, but one is because senator david perdue is going to be quarantining over the next couple of days. He has tested negative and so has his wife. But they had close exposure evidently. So now they are depending on surrogates including President Trump and senator Lindsey Graham who was there today. How are you going to stand up to china when you are making a fortune doing business with china . So, i dont know what job he has had. He doesnt talk much about it, right . Are you concerned that through a payment to a wellknown young democrat, somebody linked to china or the chinese or another company could be trying to influence you . Come on, man. You are a serious reporter. The Chinese Government does not try to influence young politicians in the United States. United states. Everybody knows who they support, who they dont support. The issue here is turnout and who can get their voters to the polls and we will see. But i think that at this point, whether, for example david perdue is actually out there in person campaigning or not makes a difference in this race and may be in a typical race. The electorate in these situations, runoffs generally favor republicans but they are polls and we know they havent been reliable. An incredibly tight race. They have to win both runoff races. That is going to be very challenging. Well, i decided to pick a nonpolitical figure for a winner because that is much easier to do and that is elon musk, the electric car pioneer. Not only did he have record sales for electric car production, he found a way to make it profitable. He helped pioneer Space Exploration by partnering with nassau to send astronauts into space this year. So, hes my winner. And my loser, my losers our Public School children of the United States who have not been in school many of them since last march and according to every analysis so far are performing far more poorly than they did when they were in Person Learning last year and they are still not in school even though medical experts including dr. Fauci himself have said school should be open and that the risk is very low for transmission, for contracting coronavirus. So, these kids have been shut out of school since last year and sadly, i think this is going to really continue well into 2021. I dont see any sign that teachers are going to be willing to come back to school and teach these kids. And of course, part of the reason are the teachers unions who are doing a tremendous amount of control over the School Systems in terms of deciding what should reopen. Biggest issue in my house come out when kids are going to get back in the classroom. All right, so charlie, your winner and loser of the year. So, the winner of the year is the u. S. Constitution thanks to President Trump, we now have a significant majority on the Supreme Court of justices who believe that of the constitution actually says what it means including its lawfully edited amendments. That should be a bare minimum but because of the nature of politics in our country today, that is an extraordinary thing to have justices who simply believe that the constitution says what it means. The loser of the year is alec baldwin, whose wife over the past week has been exposed as a fraud for spending years, and elaborate fraud, spending years claiming to be of spanish heritage.
