Organizations that help people impacted by addiction. When the stigma is removed, people will no longer be a shamed to ask for help and lives will be saved. If youre struggling with addiction, theres no shame in your illness. Please seek help. Youre worth it. In my next four years as first lady,ly continue to build upon the best and work with individual states to pass legislation to take care of our most vulnerable. I plan to continue the work i have started with children in foster care as well as the minority communities and tribal nations. I want to make sure children are protected and communities have their resources to combat drug addiction and child neglect or abuse. Like my husband and the administration, i will continue to encourage education that supports a childs individual needs. It is vital that children are given the Building Blocks to succeed. I also look forward to continue my work to restore the peoples house, which is a lasting symbol of pride for our nation. I believe this iconic home needs to be cared for and preserved so it can be enjoyed by the people of this country and visitors from around the world for years to come. Im passionate about this beautiful house, the grounds and all they represent. And now, i have a special message for the mothers of this country. This modern world is moving so fast. Our children face challenges that seem to change every few months. Just like me, i know many of you watch how mean and manipulative social media can be. Like me, im sure youre looking for answers how to talk to your children about the down side of technology and their relationships with their peers. Like every parent in this country, i feel theres so many lessons to teach our sons and their responsibilities as his mother, but theyre just not enough hours in the day to do it all. I remind myself that im more fortunate than most and still have days that i look for wisdom and strength to do the very best i can for him. To mothers and parents everywhere, youre warriors. In my husband, you have a president who will not stop fighting for you and your family. I see how hard he works each day and night and despite the attacks from the media, he will not give up. In fact, if you tell him it cannot be done, he just worked harder. [applause] donald is a husband that supports me in all that i do. He has built an administration with unprecedented number of women in leadership roles and fostered an environment where the American People are always the priority. He welcomes different points of view and encourages thinking outside of the box. I know i speak for my husband and the family when we say were so grateful that you trusted him to be your president. We would be honored to serve this incredible country for four more years. [applause] as you have heard this evening, i dont want to use this precious time attacking the other side. As we saw last week, that kind of talk only serves to divide the country further. I here because we need my husband to be our president and commanderinchief for four more years. Hes what is best for our country. We know donald trump makes no secret about how he feels about things. Total honesty is what we as citizens deserve from our president. Whether you like it or not, you always know what he is thinking. That is because hes an authentic person who loves this country and its people. He wants to continue to make it better. Donald wants to keep your family safe. He wants to help your family succeed. He wants nothing more than for this country to prosper and he doesnt waste time playing politics. Almost four years ago, we went into election day underestimated. Despite what is being said again this year, i know just as you do that americans will go to the polls and will vote on behalf of their families, our economy, our National Security and our childrens future. To vote for those ideals is not a partisan vote. Its a common sense vote. Because those are goals and hopes that we always believe in. I believe that we need my husbands leadership now more than ever in order to bring us back once again to the greatest economy and the strongest country ever known. God bless you all, your families and god bless the United States of america. [applause] [cheers applause] [applause] martha a calm, grounded speech by melania trump. She talked about how hes honest. She said he deals with you in total honesty, hes authentic, hes not a politician. Hes a man of action. She said she was confident that they would be given four more years. I thought back to a moment and an interview in 2015. She was asked if she thought her husband would win. She said if donald runs, he will win. She has a lot of confidence in her husband. She touched on covid in a way that has not happened prior to this in the last couple days. She has it has impacted all of us. I have the deepest prayers and sympathy for all affected. Youre not alone. Thats not something that weve heard in that way i think from others so far, bret. Bret nothing like this scene, the colonnade there, the rose garden. She dealt with racial unrest saying were not proud of parts of our history. Adding we need to stop the violence and looting being done in the name of justice. Like any script or weaving storiesing to, you can see the naturalization ceremony at the white house with now american citizens from bolivia, lebanon, india, sudan and ghana turning to her life story and studying for the test in 2006, becoming an american citizen which she called one of the proudest moments of her life. First Lady Melania Trump advocating for her husband saying it time for him to be elected again. Martha final thoughts here. Lets start with karl rove. What did you think . Well, the previous nights have ended with a very strong passionate speech. Tonight a personal speech by the first lady. I wish she had they loaded so many things in there that i would have slimmed it down if i were around that process but she hit it on each one. She talked about her husband in a personal way. She addressed the covid crisis and struck an optimistic note about what america meant to her and so many others. Bret a lot of people may look at this scene and say all the people in the rose garden. Where are the where is the social distancing, the concern about covid . Donna, all of the people at the white house are tested every day. Anybody that is near the president. And that in and of itself provides a different venue by the testing and by the rose garden itself. Theres always controversy especially when you use the white house as a background. I liked the speech. Yes, it was long. But the fact that she acknowledged some of the wrongs, some of the pain, some of the concerns of everyday ordinary people. So like dr. Jill biden last week, i thought she amplified her husband, she talked about him in a personal way. Im going to give her good marks for her remarks tonight. Martha katie, thoughts from you as we shes not with us, is she . Ill take the time. Martha dana. Your thoughts on this speech tonight from the first lady. Any first lady is the best character witness for her husband. Maybe in the future that will be for the first gentleman. But i feel like america could use more of her. America would benefit from seeing her mother and hearing more from her. When she asked the nation to pause and reflect, shes not just talking about the future but a lot to learn about our past as well. She spoke directly to mothers. Helping the children around the world is imperative and she lights up the room. She can light up the country. I hope Going Forward that the country sees more of her, whether its in the next four months or the next four years. What a tremendous independent woman she is. Bret the video setting her up was polished as well. Britt, i want to go backwards to the Kentucky Attorney general, david cameron. Daniel cameron who was really a powerful speaker and a presence that i would venture, yes, were going to see for years to come. That was my exact thought, bret when i heard him on fox. I was with you, wasnt i, martha . Martha yes. He was very good in that interview. His speech struck my as suggesting this is a political figure of some presence and authority and ability. It wasnt a belligerent speech but not a tame speech either. I thought it was impressive and we have i think, you know, the birth of a star here. Martha chris, what stands out to you tonight . What stands out to me is that about two or three weeks ago, donald trump suggested that he might make his acceptance speech at the white house. There was an uproar in washington. Republican Senate Leaders said they can happen. We cant have that. That barrier was completely blown away tonight for good or for ill. We have the president pardoning somebody, a deeply moving ceremony. John ponder deserves the pardon but he pardoned him right in the middle of the Republican National convention. We had a naturalization speech right in the middle of a republican convention. Melania trump delivered a very impressive speech from the rose garden, the white house. I think most controversial of all, the secretary of state making an openly political speech from a diplomatic hotspot in jerusalem. You know, we do need to point out that secretaries of state have never participated in political speeches. In fact, its the regulation of the state department that nobody that is in the state department can attend a political event let alone participate in it. The state Department Said well, hes operating in his personal capacity. I dont know what personal capacity a secretary of state has. People can think its a big deal, they can think its a little deal. But all of this has never happened before. Its worth noting. Bret it is worth noting. Definitely upon capitol hill, theyre talking about having hearings about it. But its worth noting that we havent had a convention in the middle of covid19. I would say tonight was a family affair. So even in the midst of the covid19, the fact that the white house was used as a stage, the rose garden, the white house for the naturalization ceremony. You know, when he was introduced to that ceremony and they played hail to the chief, it was unprecedented. To have pompeo come in from jerusalem in that way. But it was tiffany and it was eric who said only their father can save the country. Only their father can do this job. I think that, you know, to me when eric spoke directly to his dad, i thought, again, it struck me. This is a Family Campaign at this moment. Bret should point out that fdr delivered his speech from the white house in a radio address during a Convention Just to be historically accurate. Thank you, panel, for watching. Im back tomorrow at 7 00 p. M. For special report. The ingraham angle is next. Thanks. Laura im laura ingraham. And day two of the rnc is history. Once again, we have seen a contrast between the party that believes in liberty, the gop and one that believes in lockdowns, the democrats. For months weve heard democrats and a few wimpy republicans claim that because of this virus, we all have to get used to a new normal. But i dont think they anticipated that there were tens of millions of americans that like the old normal, thank you very much, and arent about to lie down to let you take it away from us. The obamabiden era banking regulations left us no choice and everything changed. Donald trump was elected president and knew what it was like to build a company and create jobs. Support and focus on new trade deals gave us the confidence to rebuild our barn and dairy operation. He promised to stand up to china and the rest of the world on behalf of the american worker. Four years later, the iron range is roaring back to life. Laura and then stories of redemption. Guess what . President trumps commitment to Second Chances is something the media is never going to acknowledge as police are demonized and criminals roam free. When he stood there in that graduation and he went out of his way to shake the hand of every one of those 29 graduates, put him on another piece of life. Because they have the office of the president of the United States, the promises that he made was promises that he kept. So now id like to invite johns wife, jamie, to join us as i grant john im not sure you know this a full pardon. Laura again, this didnt feet the medias narrative about President Trump. That doesnt take into the speech that you just heard from melania trump. I also ask people to stop the violence and looting being done in the name of justice. Never make assumptions based on the color of a persons skin. Instead of tearing things down, lets reflect on our mistakes. Be proud of our evolution and look to our way forward. Laura the future while we learn from the past. Joining me now, Victor Davis Hanson, sarah carter, fox news contributor, the host of the sarah carter show podcast and harmeet dhillon, National Founder for the center of american liberty. Sarah, this was a tough night for the folks that consider melania to be free melania. Remember those tshirts people sold . That speech by melania was a complete and total home run on every front. Shes absolutely remarkable. It was a speech that not only touched my heart as the wife of a wounded veteran, but it touched the hearts of people all across this country. She focused on the families that lost loved ones from covid. She focused on those that have died of opioid addiction and how the covid crisis and lockdown has seen a surge. Weve seen a surge in suicide rates, opioid addiction. She spokes to the families of veterans and spoke to children. Its our duty as adults to be there for these children, for children all over the world. I was struck, laura by one thing. I feel this is a republican reawakening on freedom and principles, not but the color of our skin but by the american leader, Small Business leaders, women, minorities, senator tim scott, with what we saw with the attorney general of kentucky, cameron, nikki haley, his family. What were seeing here is what america is about, not what the dnc showed last week. We can be proud and confident moving forward. Laura incredibly Diverse Group of americans speaking, sharing their own personal stories and their commitment to this president for what hes done. Not the person he is but because of the results he achieved. Harmeet, another i think very interesting moment from melania tonight. Watch. I dont want to use this precious time attacking the other side. Because as we saw last week, that kind of talk only serves to divide the country further. Laura harmeet, bouncing around the internet. Was that melania taking a glancing not a blow but a brush away of michelle or others . Well, i think i so. But melania is all known for grace and class and rising above and focus on what she has chosen to focus on. She did an amazing job. Im a first generation immigrant. My mom studied for an exam and i was sworn in. I remembered that. That spoke to millions of americans as well. All of us were so proud to see that Something Like that can be in the white house giving that kind of a speech. So she really rose above the partisan nastiness even as she was speaking. We see the nasty vitreal pouring out on twitter because the left has nothing nice to say. This is true class that she has led from. Laura victor, the other powerful speech was just referenced by sarah, the speech by a rising star in the Republican Party, no doubt about it, Kentucky Attorney general Daniel Cameron. Our first republican president believed in compassion, selfreliance, freedom, equality and justice. Sadly, theres some that dont believe in this wisdom as they tear down the statues of people like you ligrant and lincoln. Lincoln says any nation that does not honor his heros will not long endure. For republicans, our heros are those that prepelled and imperfect nation ever forward. Laura victor, how significant a moment was that tonight . I think it was a lot more impressive than Barack Obamas 2004 Convention Speech that propelled him to the presidency four years later. It was stunning. When you book end that with senator scotts last night, it was really impressive. They were saying we dont need you to tell us what to think. Were more than capable. Were the stars of this party. Laura, this is not the party of john mccain and mitt romney anymore. They would never have a convention when people talked about the Opioid Crisis or workers in the mid whist or the need to confront china or hit the immigration challenge head on. Say these are wonderful immigrants. Were for legal immigration. Its not illegal immigration. Thats a different subject. Its a very different party. More of a workers party. They didnt get im from Capitol Gains reduction and thats not the issues today. Theyre not talking about those things. Thats an elite party. This is more of a working party. The other thing, there was criticism of donald trump but his energy in motion. When you book end that with joe biden and hes a virtual candidate in a virtual campaign. Theres no there there no more. He doesnt sleep. Hes in motion. Hes orchestrating everything and makes a strong parallel, i think. Finally, this was an upbeat idea that 2020 is an awful year. Lock down, covid. Possible recession. But that is Something Like the Great Depression or the civil war. Thats something that we get through. Its not a window to the dark soul that we were nowed at the origins. Thats the message we got from the democratic party. We revealed america that really didnt wasnt founded in 1776 but 1619 or some crazy idea. Laura you will not hear this analysis anywhere else tonight, everybody watching this right now. Was Victor Davis Hanson just said, this is not the party of george w. Bush. No offense to him. Its a different Republican Party. Its focused on these issues that conservatives to care about a lot. Were going to get into the Small Business owners, the lobstermen in maine in just a moment that is getting overlooked. That was an important moment. I have to say this. This people would not be showcased as they were tonight by previous
